I really appreciate the customer service at this shop, so I'm gonna leave a positive review about my experience. If you're not familiar with this location just know it's pretty much the heart of Hollywood, busy street & much traffic. Luckily the subway stops right in front of the shop. I just crossed the street and it was right there. I went inside by myself, never been pierced, no tattoos, basically a plain Jane, so you can bet I was pretty nervous for being a first timer. That day I decided to get both my Nips pierced, I payed $100 (w/yelp discount) & it included an Aftercare spray. So after paying & filling out basic paperwork, I met Clifton. He was extremely professional & knows exactly what he was doing. There is a private closed area in the back so no one can see your exposed area of choice while getting pierced. Feel free to ask any questions, he told me he does about 3 of the same piercings a day so that calmed my nerves down. It took no longer than 10 min for both of my nips. It was a really sharp pain 8/10 so I suggest to bring a soft cotton brallete. I ate 4 hours before hand and immediately forced myself to eat again just in case I felt weak on my way back home (there is a McDonald's across the street so you can order something small). I also recommend buying an extra can of after care spray since the healing process is 6-8 weeks. Update: It has now been officially 5 days & my piercings have been healing perfectly. I am expecting to return to the shop to swap out the jewelry in about 3 months from now. Thank you again! :) read more

It's my first time in America and my friends and I thought it would be a great idea to get matching tattoos of a design I drew, I should've known they were gonna be bad just from the misspelling of "design" on the paperwork they gave us to sign. After waiting an hour to be seen, even though we kept being told "it's gonna be another minute" over and over again, we finally went upstairs to find a woman sitting at the top. Her behaviour was to say the least skittish and unstable, everytime I asked the placement to be different I could see that it was irritating her. And when she did the last placement it was so terrible and wonkey, however when I voiced my concerns to her I was told to trust her. But as soon as she starting tattooing exactly where the stencil was I knew it was going to need to be covered. I went silent in the chair and not once did she care. She used rough kitchen paper to rub the ink of my arm continuously, causing it to also be red and swollen. After I saw the finished piece I walked outside and cried, the man at the desk pretended it wasn't awful until we said we don't want a refund and then he finally agreed it was horrendous, my two friends that were with me were meant to get it done too, but after one of my friends saw it they said "I'm not letting her go near my arm" however my other friend decided to get it done with me, and the line work for his was awful. So me and my girlfriends had a pajama party and randomly decided we need to make a matching tattoos. It was 3 am in the morning when we were searching through yelp and we found this place, and I am actually happy we ended up here. Tony did our palm trees, and he did a great job in 15 minutes. I know its hard to judge the master by this tiny tattoo, but he did a good job with it. He is a nice guy, and I think he can do more advanced stuff as well. read more

I had gotten a tattoo with hunter and I had a very specific yet very simple tattoo and and I felt like he did not pay attention to detail. He did offer to touch it up for free without me asking him to and when I did get the "touch up" he was very rude and did not do a very good job. I am very disappointed because this was my first tattoo and I asked him many times before if this was something he can handle and I wish he had known his limitations before he started because now I have to do the whole tattoo redone by an actual professional and I am not happy with the service here. DON'T EVER COME HERE!!!! Me and my friend came in to get our septums pierced. First of all, the jewelry is out in the open and several hands touched my hoop before it was put in my nose. My friend bled profusely because of the procedure and afterward the piercer told my friend that she wasn't able to close her hoop, leaving her with a crooked and unsafe piercing. Immediately after I got my piercing, the piercer said that she did mine "really crooked" and said I could get a refund. I hesitated in the moment because both me and my friend's experiences were so traumatizing. Additionally, we weren't given any after care instructions, until we requested them. The next day, after going to a more safe piercing shop to have our dangerous piercings removed, we decided to come back into Highland Tattoo to ask for our refund. Our piercer was there and said that it "was her mistake" for offering a refund even though the shop doesn't give them. After explaining to our piercer and the manager how much work we went through to get our piercings removed, they still refused to refund us our $140!!!! I asked to speak to the shop owner and the manager wouldn't give me his number. He gave me a website to find the Owner's number and the website was fake. This shop gave us a truly traumatic experience and we lost money for no reason. Again, save yourself trauma and money, and don't ever come here!!! read more

Well I went to get another lip piercing so my piercings would be snake bite but it was pierced crooked twice and I guess it was a misunderstanding because I was told I'd get a free piercings in two weeks and I went and got a refund in the front and I thought it meant my 60 was being refunded and I was getting a free piercing to make up for being pierced wrong twice. But I just got an Instagram message from her and it's saying I wasn't supposed to get a refund so I guess no piercing at all. Oh well not about to try pay again for bad service read more

This is probably the worst tattoo place I've ever been to. Not only is it pricey but my tattoo didn't even come out good. They made me pay for my tattoo upfront which I found really odd considering they didn't ask any details about my tattoo (like size, color, etc.) but nonetheless I still paid the set price, which now I totally regret! I paid $250 for this, and no shade to my tattoo artist but I have never experienced such pain while getting a tattoo (I have many in other places) and he went so quick it seemed like he didn't even want to be tattooing me. Luckily I didn't let him finish filling in the other part of my tattoo and it's fixable but I wasted my time and money at this place. I got chunky ish ears and I don't think they calculated how chunkier it would get..so it created a build up of blood in my ear that I had to take it off. I ended up letting it close went somewhere else and it's been over a year and it's still there. And it didn't hurt as bad the second time around. read more

I came a few weeks before to do a consultation cause i'm new to body piercings and he was very hospitable. Weeks later the night I got the it done I gave him a hug after! Love my new tongue piercing. Walked in after a show at the Hollywood bowl with my gf for a fun impromptu tattoo. Looked like a cool place, great tee selection and other stuff. We both have been tattooed and we are familiar with the process, after care and healing. Amber, while friendly, is a terrible tattoo artist. I have multiple large tattoos and this was the most painful by far. And on my forearm, where I got already got one on the other arm and it was nearly painless. Everywhere there was ink, there was scabbing and so tender and painful. I've never had this happen before. It's been a week and a half and there is still scabbing and redness. My gf has it worse. Hers is infected and was still bleeding a week after the work was done. Neither one is going to heal right. As I said above, we both have tattoos. We know how to keep them clean and heal properly, there was no hope in this case. She shredded our skin. Also mine was roughly the same size as my gf's and took about the same time but cost $100 more. I got scammed. Don't go here. They should probably be shut down. read more

I am writing this for my friends who got a nose piercing. Not for myself. My best friend has been wanting to get a septum piercing for years. So a few months ago she finally decided to do it. We headed over to Highland Tattoo on a week night and it wasn't too busy. We had good conversation with a couple of workers while my friend filled out the paperwork. Now I should preface this by saying that although my friend is no strangers to tattoos and piercings, she is the biggest weenie I know! Thank god for Clifton Santiago! He was really, really, really funny yet professional. He was patient with her, talked her through it, and even showed her how she would be flipping it up into her nose to hide it while at work. My friend and I went in to get our septum's pierced and both came out extremely crooked to the point where the piercer from another shop who took them out took a picture of my friends because he had never seen one that bad. For mine the piercer from another shop told me that because she couldn't close the piercing she had pushed it up into an unsafe position in order to cover it up. Both he said were extremely unsafe to keep in because of the botched job and how unsafe the actual jewelry they sell in the store is to be in our bodies. After our piercings the piercer told us that we could get a refund because of how bad the job was but when we came back the next day to get it they told us it was against the policy and then proceeded to give us a fake name to call in order to talk to the owner. Please don't ever, ever, ever never, come here! I got my dermals done here by a guy who says he has been piercing for 13yrs, bs! First time I came here I got them done and one just didn't feel right at all but I decided to wait a day, bad idea. I wake up the next morning and can visibly see the disk coming partially out of my skin. WTF!? So I freak out and call them telling what happened, so they said I can come in and take a look. While I jump in the shower so I can hurry over there, I lightly brush against the dermal that is showing and BAM! Comes completely out, now I am freaking out even more -_-' So I go down there and show what happened but the original guy who did my piercings wasn't there, he didn't come in until 6pm, but the lady was nice to look at it for me and AGREED it was a bad job and tried to fix the other one (which was sticking out also), but she couldn't. So I am in Hollyweird for like 5 gosh darn hrs doing nothing. I come back and he was there, YAY, not! He ignored what I wanted which was to just switch the one I still had to the middle cause I did not want to repierce the open wound. He said it would be fine and did so. Long story short, the 2nd piercing bleed so bad it dripped down my shirt, and he did not want to redo the other one cause "We need to hurry up, I have customers waiting". I am your customer douche! The one you fu*k'd up! So I end up going to a REAL piercer who is apart of the APP, but it doesn't end there folks! When the REAL piercer was taking the first dermal out . . . it broke . . . Cheap a$$ jewelry, ugh, he felt so bad about my situation and everything he didn't even charge me full price. God Bless you dude. So anyways, I am reporting these people to the Health Department and BBB. The REAL piercer let me keep the jewelry that broke as evidence. They use cheap jewelry. The "gold" earring they gave me when I got my ear pierced had nickel in it. A nickel allergy is often caused when the metal is exposed an open wound as it is more easily absorbed into the blood stream. I learned this when I went to the doctor after a month of my ear swelling, itching and leaking blood/puss. Now I can't wear half the jewelry I own. Thanks guys! I officially have an allergy. To nickel, and some of my favorite earrings. Outstanding quality. Really. Lastly - I went to this place cause it was cheap. Aside from the fact that I got what I paid for here, I ended up paying additional fees for the doctors visit, antibiotics, ointment, a new earring/service of getting the piece replaced by a professional at a different, more reputable place, and new jewelry to replace the basics that I now no longer can wear. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. I took my brother in to get a second lip piercing. For starters the piercer marked my brother with a sharpie marker. My brother was sitting up on a piercing bed with no back, which wouldn't be a problem if the piercer was using a clamp but he was free handing it. The piercer proceeds to grab my brothers lip (which is obviously slippery) and after finally getting a firm grip, puts the needle through without warning (I'm used to "Take a deep breath in... and out" as the needle goes through.) When I see my brother's lip the piercing is no where near the mark this guy made and is sitting right on the line of his bottom lip. After showing dissatisfaction the piercer offers to re-do it (is it safe to pierce one area more than once?) We agree (only because piercing is a very hard thing to get a refund on) and he attempts again, this time with my brother laying flat on the table. Second time jewelry won't go through, third time follows right after with little warning once again. The piercer moves out of the way and I see more blood than I've ever seen in any piercing room literally gushing down my brother's face. The piercer felt bad and gave us a full refund which was nice but I would never step foot in this shop again. Also, they use externally threaded jewelry which is outdated and tears at your flesh when going in or out. read more
