The course has a nice layout and was in " just OK " shape . It's a fair price , so I can understand they have to keep the maintenance cost down....The tees were not too bad, but the sand traps were in poor shape. The greens were OK and unfortunately it seems like most golfers are not repairing their fairway divots. The course is a fair price and has a nice driving range. The food / drink stand should be open for a quick hot dog and drink at the turn, but seems like it's always closed during the week days. Don't play from the " Whites " ( approx. 6000 yrds ) if you can't hit the ball straight and carry at least 225 or else you will slow down play for all....I hit my drives an average of 190 yards and fairly straight and played from the Grey tees ( approx. 5500 yrds ) and had a great time! read more

Just finished a round of golf and this is a great place to go! A very nice price for a very well kept up golf course. At the turn they have an outdoor grill with dogs, brats, and Italian sausage. Food was good. Got a quick drink after the round - nice bar. Definitely going back! read more

We had a 3:30 tee time. At 3:33, the starter came up and made a comment "I see you have some beginners, I have 36 golfers behind you". We were almost to the green of the first hole when he said this. There was one foursome in line and again, our tee time had begun 3 minutes ago. There was nobody else in line so I'm not sure who the other 32 golfers were that he claimed were behind us. There was a ranger who seemed to be following us and watching most of the time, urging us to go faster. I did not appreciate this and it really ruined the day. The front desk girl was also extremely rude and clearly did not want to give anyone the time of day. Asking her where the restroom was was apparently bothering her so we went and found it ourselves. Will definitely not be back and this is not the place to go if you are not a "good" golfer. The rangers will judge you. read more

This is a nice little course. It's in fairly good shape and the greens are extremely true. No strange little pits or valleys that will make your ball go in a direction you weren't anticipating. Set your ball on the green, take a look at the pitch and rolls, set up your line and the ball will go in the hole. There is a fair amount of water on nearly every hole so be prepared to lose a few balls if you don't stay in the fairway or if you over hit when laying up on an approach to the green. The bar is nice with a hard-working bartender who takes care of both the drinks and the food in the late hours. We will likely return. read more

Told us to keep pace despite no one ahead or behind us ‍ Overweight grumpy cartbarn guy wanted us to clean a cart that wasn't ours because he was too busy lighting up another cig. I live next to this golf course. You'd think that'd be nice considering golfing is something I like to do. But as you can tell by my one star rating, I really hate this place. The management doesn't give a s*** about the patrons the surrounding houses or the actual course, they only care about their paychecks. The course has divots everywhere and there's constantly dog poop goose poop and even some unidentified poop litered all over the golf course. And worst of all, the course protects and enables patrons who just want to hit a golf ball at a house. I have almost been hit by golfballs coming from some of the worst golfers I've ever seen, both on the course and off of it. And just today I had had enough. A ball went through or double thick reinforced glass window (the guy was maybe 12 yards away using a driver) and when we sat outside waiting for the people at the 9th hole to drive over and apologize, they just drove over and said "wasn't us. We hit something but It didn't SOUND like glass. I took their photos and wrote down their golf cart and even took note of what balls they were using (as it ended up in our kitchen) and when I called the course, they said "you need a name and number or there's nothing we can do". What am I supposed to do there? I can't yell at those guys till the divulge their information and the golf course refuses to look at photos, talk to people who SAW THEM HIT THE BALL, or even use their security cameras to see who did it even though they make you write down your name and number to rent a golf cart. I am so done with this golf course and I don't think I'm being rash. This place is genuinely garbage and, unless you want to become as bad at golf as these guys, you just shouldn't come here. Plus the food inside is bad lmao, double whammy. EDIT: Also, notice how all of the reviews are old? This course has changed and does not deserve your business anymore. Real slow play. 18 holes in 4 3/4 hours. Well maintained. Has that old fashioned feel.

Course was just ok. They could do better with posting signs to get to the next hole. Often left guessing where to go. Going on a Sunday you would think there drink cart would've approached us at some point before the 9th hole. They seem very disorganized. Won't be going back. read more

If I was reviewing only the bar at the course (KC Mulligans) , it would be 1 star. Patty the bartender needs customer service training. I was not pre informed of a minimum charge for credit card purchases and instead got a rude "Really? You don't have any cash? It costs us money to take credit cards". Welcome to the modern day - it's called the cost of doing business. Management needs to be held responsible for this as well if they are forcing employees like Patty to give customers a hard time for credit card purchases. I pay for my $1.08 fountain drink purchases at McDonalds with my credit card and they have never batted an eye. Get with the program! Used to love this course. Layout great except for 2 holes that don't make sense-- 11 and 12. Sad to see the deteriorating condition even through we are in a drought. Played 6/4/21, Friday afternoon. Front nine 2h 15m. The back nine took over 3 hours. Teeing off 10 we could see number 18 with no people. Clearly there was a culprit group out there. We finally saw a ranger on 17 green and his flip explanation: "The housing around here is all subsidized... never know if you're going to get shot at..." Huh? The surrounding residents cause a 3h 10m back nine? Also a pair of bicyclists who rode the cartpaths with no regard for golfers. Least enjoyable round in years. Decent greens get the 2nd star, nothing else. read more

Have you ever golfed behind a 6-some? I had the awesome pleasure of golfing behind a group of 6 today and let me tell you I feel like never golfing again. Round took over 5 hours and I come to find out the rangers permitted this group because they "Have been coming here for years." I don't care how long you have golfed at a course you shouldn't be allowed to play in that big of a group. You would think the course would be smart enough not to permit 6 golfers to go out at prime time on a Friday afternoon but evidently that's to much to ask for. If you want to enjoy a round of golf find a different course, if you feel like sitting behind a 6-some for 5 hours on a Friday afternoon come check this course out. read more

The course was in fair condition but should have been better given all the good growing conditions lately. The trees planted on the back nine par five and followings hole ate overly punitive for the average player which this course attracts. Makes for no fun. Trees placed like a forest. Not worth the full price but if you can get a discount like two for one at Costco then maybe worth it. Don't bother to get food as the bratwurst I ordered came on a bun that was made for a mini hot dog. Could not hold any condiments. Old bun and stale. Not worth five bucks. Bar staff very nice though. Terrible experience. I have golfed here 5 times and each time gets worse. Tee boxes have little to no grass. Greens have unfixed divots and dead spots all over them. On hole one there are hundreds of range balls on the fairway, some on the green. The pace of play is not enforced, it took my group almost 3 hours to finish the front 9 because the two groups ahead of us wouldn't let us through and would hit multiple balls a person. We told the ranger what was going on and he ignores us and drove away. We found the ranger sleeping in his cart on the back nine later on. They told us on hole 16 that they were calling carts in at 7:45 (30 minutes before sunset). We got to hole 18 at 7:35 and was told we couldn't finish... read more

Hilldale golf course seems like a private course but it's a public course which enables everyone to have a most enjoyable time on a golf course that can challenge anyone. Complete with Proshop, driving Range, power carts and of course a great 19th hole for quenching your thirst and satisfying your appetite. The entire staff is both friendly and professional you won't be disappointed with the course as it is in great shape and the greens will absolutely rival any other golf course in the area. They need to change their policy for 1/2 cart policy for golf carts. I usually play here as a single golfer so I often get paired up with other groups. That's fine. But, under their current policy they only allow 2 carts for every 4-some. On some occasions, I've been paired with some nice people. A few times I've been paired up with some complete psychopaths. One occasion the person who I shared a cart with got into an argument with the starter about the cart sharing policy. The person got very angry at the starter and made for a very uncomfortable situation for the rest of the round. Please change this policy. One extra cart for a foursome isn't a big deal. Most tee times will have one or two carts on each hole, having one extra cart on each hole isn't going to break the bank. Change this stupid policy PLEASE! It'll create a better experience for your customers. read more

Not a long course, but Hilldale certainly offers a good challenge. They boast the "best greens in the Chicago suburbs", and it's hard to argue that claim. The greens are quick and are always in great shape. read more

I was really excited to golf here because I grew up in this neighborhood and remember when they built this course. I golfed Hilldale many times as a young guy. Well, I guess I'm not the only one showing my age these days. First, I have to say the greens and fairways were okay and, in weirdly random spots, they were excellent. Between the 13th and 14th, for example, I felt like I was playing on a different course. The 13th was a total mess as was the tee box on the 14th, then the fairway and green were really nice. That being said, it doesn't look like they've paved a cart path in years. There were some potholes that were actually dangerous. Also, I get that maybe they're doing a more "natural" look for the water features, but the creek is a weed choked, swampy quagmire, as is most of the water on the back nine. I did not see a single bunker on the entire course that was well maintained although the sand was soft. It would take a groundsman 30 minutes with an edging spade to properly maintain a largish trap but, I guess it's not a priority. The trees and shrubs were shaggy and unkempt and there were dead branches laying around as well as numerous dead trees. Virtually all the hardscaping and timbering is falling to pieces and the retaining wall around the main ponds near the clubhouse is caving in. The main parking lot is blacktop so old, it's turning to gravel. Oh, and I've literally never golfed on a weekend where they didn't have someone selling drinks or snacks. It seems like whoever's in charge either doesn't know how to run a golf course or doesn't care. This used to be a nice course. Now it's kind of depressing. read more

I wouldn say that these are the best greens in Chicagoland how the hell are they going to prove it? Anyways greens are fast I'll give them that but wayyyy to many unfixed pitch marks means too many newbs playing or poor maintenance and I believe its the latter because when I went there was no one there. Wasn't that big of a bargain $29 for twilight.... value is meh. Course is short if you are a decent driver like me 275+ this course must be played from the tips and then its still too short. Couple of nice looking holes especially the water surrounded par 3. Couple of years ago this course was in immaculate shape I really don't know what happened. Also the course ranger took out 2 of 3 final hole pins while we were still playing. Very unacceptable I would expect this from a muni but golfing 10 years + i have never experienced this. read more

You need to have a game plan when you play here. Getting in good position is key here for good scoring opportunities. While I like the course layout when your able to play it ( course doesn't hold big rainfalls well, heavy rain fall shuts down about 3 holes) I do not care for the unprofessional attitudes of the starters and rangers, We use to golf the course for a couple of seasons but decided to leave after multiple unnecessary and belittling encounters with the staff read more

This was the first time I played this course. The day I played it, the weather was perfect. The course, being tree lined was a bit of a challenge but wasn't too difficult. There is water and it is a good idea to know where it is because it will determine how you play certain holes. When playing around the greens, the bunkers are ok and the greens famous for their above average fast greens but are high quality. Overall, this is very nice golf course. One complaint I have about it is that the asphalt cart paths are in very bad shape. The price is good for senior golfers, $30, for this quality golf course. read more

Ive played many golf courses in the chicagoland area and the last time i played at hilldale it was a terrible time. The course itself if decent, not too tricky, some challenging holes, some easy birdie holes. The greens were in bad shape, marks and divots everywhere. The worst part about my experience was the staff. Cheryl Todde the gm is retarded. She and her staff all hang out together at the bar. They have nothing better to do but follow around a group of college kids. My foursome and I was told on by the cart girl and harassed by the ranger. The ranger followed us for 2 holes, then finally came up to us and gave us a warning. The next hole the ranger comes to our cart and swears at us for "not listening to him". Says we have no respect for the course. I had played 40 rounds this summer!! He takes our keys and makes us walk all the way back to the course. I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND to choose a different course in the area. The staff will belittle you . GOTO Palatine Hills, Poplar creek, Highland Woods etc. U will have a better time. Shorter course. Not a good layout. The water and trees force hits and placements that won't get you on the green in regulation for about 1/2 the holes. You will have to walk quite a bit to cross some streets since the course is spread out in a neighborhood area. One hole on the back nine aligns with the tollway. So not very scenic with loud traffic noise. The tee boxes are poorly maintained. The greens are small and fast because of being cut too short and appear to be rarely watered. When it rains, this place is very wet due to low lying areas so you will be playing in mud. The rough is always cut too high. Some areas are like being in an open field with weeds, crabgrass, hard dirt surfaces. The water containers are usually empty. The clubhouse is old. Needs a major remodeling. For the money it's not really worth it. There are better courses with nice clubhouses in the area for the same price or less. read more

Nice course. Waiting for Mgt to honor the comp's for my group of eight. Played golf on a Sunday afternoon in October 2014. However, carts kept dying and when we called the number, it bounced to an off-site office and no one was at the clubhouse to help us and send out replacements. 10/6/14 4:20p I called and spoke to manager that indicated she will comp me for my group in 2015. I have left several messages and even sent emails and to date, I have not received any return communications. For years my friends and I play the course several times a year. Unfortunately, until I hear back, I can not recommend the course, service or their carts being reliable. read more

Good for intermediate or advance players with especially tough greens. Nice looking course with short rough and well maintained (greens are pristine), but marked only with small stakes (200 blue, 150 white, etc). The biggest issue is the staff is not friendly and the ranger follow us continuously for the first 9, despite keeping the pace. Will not be back primarily for that reason. read more

In Schaumburg for a wedding and wanted to play an early round of golf. The bell man at the Marriot recommended Hilldale as a nice course for the money. He was spot on. Outstanding greens for a public course, fast and would hold a shot. The front 9 required accurare tee shots, and a good touch around the greens. Don't be lulled to sleep on the front as 10-13 is the amen corner of this golf course. Lots of decisions to make as to club selection and water awaits errant shots.17 is a beautiful hole requiring a long forced carry over water.A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design hidden away in Hoffman Estates!
