Great food with many options for vegetarians. Mild spice level is actually very mild. The paneer tikka masala was delicious and a little on the sweeter side when ordered as a mild spice level. First off the customer service was not bad was not great just a clear language barrier. I asked if the entrees came with Nan he said no only rice. When my dish came out he said it doesn't come with rice. Which was okay... The chicken as u can see is burnt on sides of the pieces. Chicken is a bit dry however, it is well seasoned. Malik is the man! My friends treated my Mom & I to lunch, to celebrate my birthday and my Mom's retirement. Malik was so welcoming and hospitable, and also shared with us his background, experience, and ambition for this place. We ordered a number of entrees like Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp Vindaloo, Saag Aloo/Paneer & Raita. Everything was so good! I was meeting a colleague for lunch and San Dimas was about our halfway point. I asked her if she craved anything, and she didn't. So I asked if there was something her husband and children don't enjoy. She said Indian food. Himalayan Cafe was one of the only Indian food restaurants in our halfway radius. We discovered upon arrival that they are only offering take out. No dine in. So we decided to order togo and to take the food to a nearby park. We both got the Chicken Tikki Masala ($16.95/each) and Garlic Naan ($3.25/each). She also opted for a side of rice. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time as we chatted about work happenings while we waited. When we got to the park and we opened up our carefully packaged brown bags, I really liked the container they used for the tikki masala and the way the naan was wrapped in foil. The restaurant even gave paper plates for the take out meal. Utensils included of course. My colleague and I both enjoyed the meal. The tikki masala was very flavorful. I especially love how garlicky the garlic naan was. It lived up to my garlic loving expectations. Mhmmm... I admit it cost more than chicken tikki masala at other restaurants, but it is worth it for the delicious meal I enjoyed. I would definitely come back here they next time I had a meeting nearby or if I am craving chicken tikki masala and garlic naan. read more

LOOOVE this place. I've been coming here for years and was so sad when it closed during the pandemic. So I'm ecstatic that it's finally open for dine-in service again. Unfortunately, this place is hidden and you have to really look for it, but once you find it, it's a gem and you'll remember to come back. My go-to's are the chicken tikka masala (though tonight I ordered the lamb), saag paneer, and garlic naan. The flavors in all of these dishes are so bright and memorable. I ate literally everything I ordered. The vibes of the restaurant are also really nice. I love all the cultural decor on the tables and hanging on the walls. I love the calm and peaceful vibes here, as well. The ambiance is nice with quiet music playing in the background and just the ability to have good conversation with who you're with. I've been a fan of their other location in Pasadena, and thought I would give this location a try, and was not disappointed. Ordering was convenient with options of online vs phone. I ordered the lamb korma and chicken korma, which are my go-to meals, which they excelled at. The flavoring was great for each, and the meat was soft and tender. We also got the garlic naan (a traditional favorite) and aloe naan (potato stuffed). I personally thought the aloe naan was superb and would recommend trying it if you haven't before! read more

Sadly I need to update a bit lower than my first glowing review. After going many times, there is definitely some inconsistency in quality and overall experience. For instance, I've found I can't really count on Medium to have a Medium level of heat. The last couple times my Medium was very Mild. And I'm not sure if I switch to Hot, if I'll get Medium or Hot. This time we waited a half hour even though there were only two other tables (not counting one finishing a meal) before we even got an appetizer and when the food came out it was only warm, becoming cool right away. My Paneer was cool, which made me wonder if it was ever even fully heated in the first place. Our Curry Salmon dish didn't have much curry taste. I wondered if because my dad ordered his Mild, if they went light on the curry spice as well. At home I can put curry in soup, but still keep the hot spices low, so not sure why they couldn't keep the favor up even in a Mild dish. Two visits ago, some of the food was drier than desired (like the fried rice and chicken) and this time the regular Naan I ordered came as Garlic, which is fine since I like garlic, but it was also dry rather than having a nice light fluffy texture. Then last time I came to pick up an order I made by phone (telling them I needed to pick it up on my way to a party) and they had completely forgot about my order, so I had to wait a while in the restaurant while they made it, rather than picking it up ready as planned. The servers are always nice. But the atmosphere is lacking. The bright royal blue walls are scuffed and scared in areas and at night the ceiling and florescent lights in the dining room remind me of being back in a grade school assembly room. They could really use a remodel of the whole dining room to improve ambiance. I also don't really appreciate having news on the TV while I'm eating. Sports or old movies or something family friendly is fine. I hope the next time I go the experience is better. I'm rooting for them since I LOVE Indian food and would like to have a place I really enjoy in the neighborhood. read more

I used to come here when it was "The Taco Factory" and loved it as that restaurant but was sad to see it close. I was a little skeptical to eat here though because I never see anybody inside the restaurant but my wife and I tried it today for lunch and we were impressed with the food quality. Chicken tikka masala was excellent, as well as the basmati rice, naan bread and vegetable Samosas. The only disappointing thing was.... it was really cold inside! they had the air conditioning going full blast which is normally nice, but all the plates are already set out on the table and so when you put your hot food on ice cold plates, well you know what happens. Your hot food instantly gets cold. Indian food does not taste good cold. I don't like that the plates are already set on the tables. They shouldn't do that. I would eat here again though. This is the best Himalayan food you'll ever have! Everything tastes fantastic and comes in very generously sized portions. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma are incredible. All of the types of naan are wonderful and very plush. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. I will definitely be back and highly recommend bringing your friends and family here!! Not to mention we had asked for one of the dishes to be spicy and after eating he said he forgot to add the spiciness to which he made a whole new spicy one without us even asking for free!!
