Paradise Buffet may not be the most grand, aesthetically pleasing establishment but the quality of some of the items and the extraordinary and attentive service are unique and stand out here. Noteworthy: 1) The Hibachi grill- love the staff. They are alert and responsive to special requests eg well done noodles please. The sauces and oils are of good quality. The broccol, onions, mushrooms and cilantro have always been fresh and abundant.( photos). 2) Really delicious, well marinated and grilled chicken wings.( photo). 3) fresh salad bar with good quality a really nice balsamic dressing.. Lots of cut lemons next to a delicious cucumber and tomato salad. 4) from mac & cheese and wings to pizza for the kids to some good fish, steamed fish dishes with very attentive staff looking over and replenishing right away. 5) really good carrot cake and brownies. The team here that picks up the dishes deserves all the credit for their warmth, hard work and patience. I recently stopped by Paradise Asian Buffet and was honestly impressed, especially with the vegetarian options. A family held their celebration of life post funeral gathering here. I was impressed at how many great selections were available. There are more selections available, than the stomach can hold. The prices are very reasonable. The seafood section, the pot roast and potatoes were great, fried jalapeño, salad bar section, sushi/sashimi sections and deserts; wow what a selection. this buffet has ample parking. In addition to the main dining area there are two different private dining areas adjacent to the buffet. A few hits and misses but overall great deals for seniors! Grab your Lola and lolo bring them here for a great experience of a buffet meal under $15 with drink. Plenty of seating and also private room areas for parties or special occasions. Large parking lot was full. Mongolian bbq has lots of ingredients to be creative and generous with whatever makes your tummy say, "mmmmm!" Great service! Never had to ask for plates to be cleared they were on top of it. The meat is literally defrosting in bowl they have it in! Normally it should be frozen. Then the guy cooking the Mongolian food leaves the food cooking under a bowl for too long! The food was overcooked, the meat was shriveled up and the noodles were overcooked. The waitresses don't pick up your plates because they are too busy talking about their schedules. I've been coming to Paradise Buffet for over 15 years--basically since they first opened, back when Larry was managing. If Larry were still around, part of his dream would probably be fulfilled today... because they finally added fried chicken and sushi. The problem is, those additions came at the expense of long-time favorites--and that's a tough trade-off. They've removed several staples that my family has relied on for years. No more meatloaf (which my elderly parents loved), no more chicken tenders for the kids, no more crawfish (my brother's go-to), and worst of all, no more of their sweet and sour chicken. That dish wasn't your typical version--it was tempura-battered white meat chicken with a fantastic sweet and sour sauce, and it was literally the only thing my parents would eat there. Now, I personally enjoy sushi, so in a way this change benefits me. Other Paradise Buffet locations around Southern California have had sushi for years, so it's nice to finally see it here at the Montclair location--especially since the sushi restaurant that used to be in the same complex is gone. Clearly, that opened the door for them to add it. But here's the reality: while I may come more often now, the rest of my family has no reason to. The kids lost their options, my parents lost theirs, and so did my brother. And one last thing I found completely baffling--they didn't have green onions (scallions) at the Mongolian grill. After 15 years of always having them, suddenly they're gone? That makes it impossible to properly make Mongolian beef... which, last time I checked, is basically beef and green onions. They had cilantro--but no green onions. That just doesn't make sense. Overall, I appreciate the effort to modernize the buffet with sushi and fried chicken, but it shouldn't come at the cost of removing the classics that kept loyal customers coming back for over a decade. read more

I thought the taste and quality of the food would be similar to the other Paradise Buffet I went to, but it's not even close. ******** What I dislike ******** The Mac & Cheese is watery, the salad lettuce is soggy and old, the cheesecake is sugary, the German cake is dry like it has been sitting out for a while. The baked imitation does not look baked at all. The sesame ball is overcooked. The orange looks like it has already been eaten. I mean, look at the pictures... The cashier doesn't seem too friendly, and I don't know why, but the servers were polite and efficient. Now, onto what I like! ******** What I like ******** I like the Mongolian BBQ. Chef knows what seasoning to add to make your dish taste better. Just ask if you are not sure. The fried banana and the mango jello are very flavorful. The sugar-free chocolate cookie is bomb! Paradise Buffet use to be a great place to get various Chinese foods. However, not so the case anymore. On 03-25-2026 @11:00 AM, a group of us came there for awards from our bowling teams as we have done for a long time. BUT: Observed was the salad area has now been cut down and selections is null due to the restaurant has put out sushi selections. Gone is their great egg fu young. Everyone in our group was very disappointed that they have discontinued it. I mean, why? Egg fu young is a staple Chinese dish! Gone was the craving station. The baked seafood and chicken looked scary to eat. No cheese sauce for the tortilla chips nor any shredded cheese for the tacos. The Ambrosia fruit salad was so dry they shouldn't have bothered to put it out. There wasn't any chili or sweet & sour sauce for the fried shrimp. The hot & sour soup was thin based and bland tasting and so was the clam chowder. The taco shells were stale tasting. So basically, a once great buffet restaurant has gone downhill. It seems others here on Yelp agree with the downhill spiral of this restaurant. read more

I was genuinely impressed with this buffet. Came here for dinner, suggested by my dad. We weren't crazy about the idea as most buffets have a reputation. But once we saw the food options, we started feeling a little better about our dinner selection. Once we tasted the food, we were instant fans of Paradise Buffet. Their teriyaki chicken was super flavorful! The butterflied, friend shrimp were crispy and tender. I loved the chow mein. The green beans were my favorite side. Other items my table tried were the mashed potatoes and gravy, said to be very tasty. My son was a fan of the French fries and pizza. My husband loved the sushi station. We didn't get to try the Mongolian BBQ station but definitely want to give it a try next time we visit. And I didn't know it at the time, but there's also hand scooped thriftys ice cream that I have to try next time too! The staff were amazing. Huge shout out to Lupe Franco who was taking care of our section. She's super sweet, funny and attentive. She was the cherry on top of the delicious food. I'd been here years ago and couldn't remember if I liked it or not. Decided to give it a try. I have to say I was not in. While there was no shortage of good variety, the food itself just wasnt very good. Things that should have been crispy were salty, and the food was bland. We had to try this new local buffet. It's on the small side. They honored my mom's free birthday meal one day late so that was nice. The Mongolian bbq station really needed more help and maintenance, it was a hot mess. Most of the food really lacked flavor. The orange chicken was a stand out, it actually had a lot of zesty orange flavor. The egg flower soup was also delicious, but other than that, many of the dishes were bland, even the Cajun boil with corn and shrimp. Honestly wasn't expecting too much from this Chinese-American buffet, but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of food they offered - and how tasty everything was. I came with a relatively large group, so we were seated in one of the private rooms. Parking in this plaza isn't the easiest because of how cramped the spots are, but if you come during off hours, you will likely have a much easier time finding parking. The lot was packed when I visited and I had to be careful winding through the narrow aisles. They have a good variety of items that you'd find in most buffets - the salad section, hot foods, Asian foods, soups, Mongolian grill. But they also offer a taco station, crawfish, and a ton of dessert! I think I really liked the whole dessert station, although not everything tasted great, namely that they have such a large variety. Lines for the Mongolian grill were pretty long and didn't seem to go down. There were only 2 workers managing the grill. And the line to get into the buffet - during the afternoon on a weekend, was incredibly long! Nothing truly stood out as amazing, but I did like everything that I ate. They don't have a sushi station in this buffet though. I even saw one of the workers concocting a dessert out of butterfly cookies, ice cream, syrup for guests' birthdays, I believe. Overall, a solid buffet in the Montclair area. Will be back if I ever happen to eat there in the future. read more

I don't know what happened to this places but it's going down hill very bad I think they changed owners or something cuz why when my noodles were ready in the middle where they make them I got a whole completely different noodle different everything and when I went to go tell him he told me no that is mine and I told him no cause I remember what happened It's sad how much it has changed. Was gifted gift certificates here so came for lunch on a Saturday. Come early because it gets packed by noon! This is a spacious place and great for big groups. They had a huge hibachi grill in the middle for grill to order plates. Their dessert section was also quite varied and very appetizing with all sorts of cakes, cookies, pies and ice cream. Highlights for me included the ribs-tender, fall off the bone deliciousness, never been to a buffet that had ribs before! I also liked the yellow fried rice-it had a more buttery taste to it than your typical Chinese fried rice but it was still really good, the baked potato with cheese and bacon, and the beef and broccoli. I normally don't eat at buffets but if the occasion arises where a buffet location needs to be suggested, I would definitely suggest this one for it's good tasting food, good price and friendly atmosphere. read more
