Himalayan Grill in Flagstaff is a favorite for their Vegetable Korma, which I always get here. It's hands down the best I've had for this dish compared to other places I've tried--flavorful, creamy, and perfectly balanced. While their spice levels are decent, I generally prefer more heat, but the dish still satisfies. The last time I visited, I wasn't feeling great, so I got a 3 out of 5, but usually, I ask for a level 5 spice, which is what I recommend if you enjoy a bit more kick. The restaurant's decor adds to the experience, making it a pleasant place to eat. If you go towards the end of the night, be prepared to order to-go rven if there's still be time to sit and eat, which is understandable. The staff is always courteous and welcoming. Normally, I enjoy food from this restaurant, but THIS time I ordered through DoorDash and it was awful - they didn't include my garlic naan ($4.95 essentially donated to the restaurant), I had requested a medium level of spice and the food was bland and devoid of spice. The Chicken Pakoras, which cost $9.99, were so overcooked in the deep fryer that I literally could not bite into them they were SO hard! There were also maybe 6 [?] tiny little pieces of these little obliterated nuggets [see image below]. I've come here a few times over the years and it's always underwhelming. The food is alright, but sometimes cold. The customer service is also not that great. I ordered food to go a week or so again and they originally said the wait was 45 minutes, but it turned into 1.25 hours. They seemed under staffed and it was hard to talk to someone to learn what was going on with my order. I got home and most of my items were cold. I may try again, but there are other options around town I enjoy more. read more

First time in. Recommend by a coworker. The service was very pleasant. The food arrives quickly. They had lots of food being picked up to go. I loved the food. It all tasted fresh and delicious. I'm a big fan of Samosas and Naan, so always happy to find on a menu. I will say the front of the restaurant is decorated quite festive. WARNING: They have a rule you can't dine in after 8:30 pm and they will literally look at their watch and turn you away if you are even a few minutes past that. Ambiance is pleasant. Good lighting and seating options. Food is hit or miss depending on what you get. The lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, lamb karahi and garlic naan are amazing. The chicken vindaloo, chicken makhani and rice are average. Momos are good. Papad and accompanying sauces are pepper than most places. Service needs a LOT of attention. Either you're getting ignored entirely or you get checked up on by 3 different servers within a 1 minute period. There is no organization. If you order wine the request gets kicked to the manager who then comes out to verify your order. It seems no one understands alcohol beyond the manager as we experienced on multiple visits. Sometimes you come in and are asked to wait in the front for up to 10 minutes when the restaurant seems kind of empty which just seems strange. The staff always seems so slammed and impersonal they won't engage with you for small talk or to just have a conversation and build a relationship. It's all business here! Be prepared! read more

I don't know what the few meh reviews were, this place is awesome. I was in town for work and was craving Indian food, so it lead me here. I was seated almost immediately, and felt very COVID safe - booths were far away from each other and had plastic between them. I was served pretty quickly, and the food came out even quicker it seemed! I got the paneer masala and omg. Tons of the paneer, the sauce had really great flavor. A ton of rice. Naan was super flavorful and delicious. I got a chai to end the night, and it was perfect. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

Wow, Indian people leave surprisingly cruel and picky reviews of this place. Between that crowd and the insufferable "staying at the Howard Johnson around the corner and requiring 5-star delivery" group, I think we can account for all of the negative ratings. This place is phenomenal for being in a city of 70,000 people. The menu is gigantic and everything we ordered was great. I eat a lot of Indian/Nepalese food in Chicago and this absolutely compares to my favorite places. The majority of restaurants people in Chicago order from when they are trying to save a few bucks are objectively much worse than this. If there is any legit complaint it would be that the quantity of protein is on the low end considering the prices are in the mid-teens and this is not a major city. Service was excellent, all naan bread delicious, and unlimited rice if you dine in. Definite double entree spot if you eat like me. Will be returning. read more

It was a very busy night, due to NAU parents weekend. We got seated fairly quickly. The menu is very diverse, with many vegetarian and vegan options. It took roughly 50 minutes for our food to come out. The service was poor, we never got checked on and had to flag down servers multiple times. It is one of our most favorite restaurants anywhere. The food is delcious. The flavors are incredible. The portions are generous. The owner and staff are so friendly and nice. When ordering a dish, do not be fooled. It us more food than it appears to be. If available, make sure you order a Thali... Basically a combo. Because they take more time to prepare they cannot prepare them when very busy. This is not a vegan restaurant but they offer many vegan dishes. Even if you are not vegan, you m8ght want to check one if them out. Be sure to order the Gajar Halwa for desert. It is minced carrot cooked with cardoman and nuts. I visited restaurant last night with a friend. We ordered quite bit of food: chicken curry, palak paneer, lamb korma, veggie korma, mango lassi and garlic bread. I've to say all the food I tasted was good, we had leftovers to go. What turned us off was the poor service. The waitresses were very rude. They came at the table at 8.45 (closing time was 9pm) and started removing plates while we were still eating. It was extremely odd. At 9pm sharp, with 3other tables with people, a guy came at the table asking us to leave. Great food, large quantities (especially for Indian food), and reasonably priced. We were on the way to Grand Canyon and stopped by this gem to pick up some food on the way. We had veg biryani, sag paneer, Tandoor chicken, Lamb curry, and nan. *Veg biryani is a tricky dish, but they got it right. Very flavorful. * Sag paneer was probably the best dish of all * Tandoor chicken could be little bit more spicy, but still good * Lamb curry is another tricky item, but Himalayan got it right. Chose this restaurant to try a different establishment and I regretted it. Service was slow and the restaurant did not care of its customers. The biryani I ordered did not taste great. I needed some additional raitha because their serving was so small but had to wait for over 10 minutes before I could catch the attention of the waiter. I had finished most of the dish by the time the raitha was replenished. I mentioned at the time of the order that I was short on time because of a flight but that did not make any difference to them being efficient even with the billing process. Please avoid this place if you can. It's my sincere suggestion it's not worth your health nor the money. We were on our way back to phx from flagstaff and wanted to have something Indian. We looked up and found this place. As we entered there were hardly anyone, that should have alarmed us. But, we took a risk and went with the buffet they had. Omg! That's one of the atrocious food we have ever had. There were dishes which were stale, cold and were not supposed to be on there. We in fact informed the waitress that the food has a distinct smell only to get a smile back. The ones which looked fresh had no taste. There was barely any salt or spice. They have boards displaying they won the best food, it makes me wonder who gave them. We got home only for upset stomach and feeling unwell. We stopped here for lunch on our way up north. Given these uncertain times, we were concerned about dining in, but the measures taken put us at ease immediately. All tables are at least 6' apart and booths have plexiglass making partitions. Coming to the food, it was so yummy, so satisfying! It's fresh, full of flavour and has a lot of options to choose from.
