Food has gone down hill and so have their Food Safety reports. Kinda scary for a sushi place. Too bad as I used to really like going here.

I've gotten teriyaki here several times and it's always been... OK. Not great, but OK. We usually get chicken breast teriyaki and gyoza and it's always pretty good, but the quality of the chicken is usually not quite as good as some other places in the area. Perhaps it's the sauce - They have a much more savory sauce, where I prefer a slightly sweeter flavor. Once I ordered the Sushi and it was quite nice, but I got a really chewy chunk of Tuna on some Nigiri once that I haven't been able to get over. The rolls, however, are excellent. All in all, it's not a bad place, but I feel like there are better options in the area, at least for my taste buds. read more

We got the "two sushi rolls for the price of one". One roll is $15.99 or so....so basically a roll is $8....lunch special 11ish to 3ish. We got four rolls and left a large tip. So I guess at dinner hour a roll is $15.99 for the spider roll, which is a but pricey. Spider roll....lots of fake crab and one sliver of soft shell crab. The better sushi roll we had. But good. Not very flavorful. Spicy scallop roll. Have no idea why they call this spicy scallop roll as it had lots of fake crab, slice of tempura and TINY, TINY Sliver of scallop...I had to bust my roll to find the scallop which was the thickness of my chopstick. I was expecting a roll with scallop in it as the main and only ingredient in it. Not a roll that was fake crab, a slice of tempura something and tiny, tiny scallop. Had I known this, I would have not gotten this. The roll was unappealing and tasted very bland. I could not finish this. Tuna roll. The tuna was very dark, like deep burgundy and old. An off taste to it. Not fresh but passable. Having said that it did contain a good amount of tuna. Would have been better it if was fresh. Large roll. Salmon roll. It was good but some of the salmon was chewy. But lots of salmon. Large roll. Overall, not impressed with the large amount of fake crab they used in the Spider and Scallop roll. The quality of the fish was a C. Presentation was an A. Size of roll was large. I saw some lunch plates go by and the amount of main food was small. Every single one. So based on that I will not order the lunch plate. I don't know if they come by to give tea refills but they never did so I didn't worry. I l did let the sushi chef know I was not happy about the scallop roll (lack of scallop) and he didn't care. Their food is awesome but their Customer Service is very poor. I ordered a meal that was on their lunch special during their lunch special and got charged at the regular price. The ordering lady needs to improve her attitude as well. What bothers me the most was paying the regular price just because I didn't say I wanted a "Lunch Special". Be careful ordering from here. If you are ordering non-special hours, I suggest to order a take-out. They got great food but they doing have great customer service--or friendly at the very least. read more

Just ate here the first time. The food was good. The quantity was just right. The service was pleasant. The waiting time was short. We ate in the restaurant. During the time that we were there for dinner they were very busy. The cashier seemed to know a lot of the customers. So they were getting a lot of repeat business. We will be back. Next time we will order brown rice which we prefer over white so we are glad that it is an option. read more

This is my favorite teriyaki place in the area. I always fet the chicken and gyoza, but the rest of their food is great too! All I have to say is that it's the best, just try it when you're in the mood for Japanese and don't listen to all of the bad reviews! read more

We won't be returning, and we would recommend that people avoid it at all costs. NOTE: this review is for the food and the service for the sushi and the noodle soups, which started at IKA sushi and bento at the other end of the plateau, and followed the owner to Himitsu when he decided to combine the two stores. The good: the sushi is good quality and reasonably priced, as are the noodle soups (ramen, udon). The bad: the management is horrible, which translates into a horrible customer experience whether eating in or picking up takeout Bad experience #1: the owner published a coupon, and already being regulars, we were glad to use it, typically once every three weeks, give or take. On the fifth or six occasion using the coupon over the course of about 4 or 5 months, the owner came out to tell us that he had only intended for people to use it monthly, and we had used it twice in two weeks (shock!) We nodded and accepted the explanation, told him "well, now that we know, that's okay, no problem", and then we mentioned that the coupon didn't mention that limitation, it just had an expiration date. Most good restaurant owners or managers would have, especially for regulars, honored the coupon that time anyway. This one did not. He didn't even bother to change the coupon to articulate the secret rules. Bad experience #2: the owner decided to expand his offerings to include Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup), but the implementation was completely confusing for customers... the restaurant was divided (roughly) in half physically, with a "noodle" side and the original sushi/Japanese side. We experienced (and observed) plenty of confusion... you could order noodles if you were sitting on the sushi side, but not vice versa. And, without explanation, the same bowl of noodles made in the same kitchen was $2 more expensive on the sushi side than the noodle side at a table three feet away. It's possible (even if difficult) to rationalize that by saying that the sushi side was trying to be more of a formal sit down dinner experience, but what made absolutely no sense was that when ordering for pickup, the restaurant would consistently try to charge us the sushi-side higher price and we repeatedly had to ask them to charge the noodle-side price, given that we were picking the food up. Bad experience 2B: after multiple pickup orders where the beef in the udon or ramen amounted to two tiny chunks (maybe an ounce) of beef and lots of noodles and broth, we made mention. The first time, they offered to not charge us the next time, which of course they forgot about. After a few times with the same thing happening, my wife actually opened the soup while picking up the order to point it out, and they begrudgingly added a few pieces of meat. Bad experience (and strike) #3: tonight we ordered about $40 of sushi, and requested no sauce be drizzled over the sushi, repeating it to make sure it was written down. On arriving, the sauce was there, and she pointed out the error ("no sauce" written on the ticket, but made with the sauce, which had happened to us before a few times). Rather than even light apology and an offer to quickly remake it, she got effectively a blank stare, as if they were waiting for her to say "it's okay, I'll take it like this". After some discussion, the owner told the wait staff that he'd remake it, and it was clear from the body language and tone that he thought this was asking too much. With no admission of error, no apology for the inconvenience, and no reason to be graceful in return, my wife asked the staff if they were going to do anything for her inconvenience and having to wait now for 10-15 minutes for the order to be remade, a discount or not charging for some item, and the response was shock and dismay, and a repeated "I said I remake!". When the food was finally ready to take home, the order was set down where she was waiting, without even an acknowledgment. On the way out, she said loudly that it was a shame that the food and the main wait staff was so great, but his customer service was so horrible, and she was told "no, it's YOU." And then... "then you don't come back." Trust us... we won't. It's good sushi, but there are equivalent options just five more minutes of driving for us in Redmond or Issaquah where they make a light attempt to treat customers well. That makes the sushi taste much better. When you think the customer is in the wrong because they ordered something, made a special request that actually would have decreased your food costs if you'd made it correctly, and then were disappointed when it was made wrong and had to wait for it to be made a second time, it's not us. I've eaten Himitsu teriyaki and/or lunch specials at least 10 times in the past year. The food is consistently tasty and fresh. The service is equally consistent-- friendly and fast. I appreciate being able to eat in their pleasant space or call ahead for take out. This is the best place on the Sammamish plateau for a quick meal under $10, read more

Hiitmitsu is just a local place to go to. The food is OK the portions are weak and the price is overpriced! I was there yesterday May 31 in the evening and ordered beef with broccoli, I got home opened up the container and found I even measured about 3 ounces of beef and all broccoli. Seriously, what a rip off! It cost $12 for less then a Junior burger at McDonald's with broccoli. I have never given a review on yelp or ever given a negative review, but for the price and portion this was appalling. The only reason I gave two stars is it taste good. read more

We are avid sushi consumers. We went for a hike in the Sammamish, visited an extraordinary winery and stopped here for a bite to eat. A plain udon, a chicken teriyaki and two roles. The udon had one piece of a very thin fish cake and tasted exactly like a $1.50 store bought udon noodles from an Asian grocery store except I can make better! The teriyaki sauce also tasted like a store bought sauce and was a little acidic. The roles were humongous, but the fish weren't defrosted properly and were a little frozen. The addition of the sushi bar has upped this review to 4 stars. As for the nigiri shushi, the fish is extremely fresh and delicious, and the cuts were VERY generous! The rice is a tad too sticky in the rolls, but the selection is terrific. My one major complaint is that the table tops are STICKY. How about some paper/cloth tablecovers please! But honestly, each time we leave, we can't wait to go back for more. read more

Had a terrible exchange with the owners. Walked in at 8:25 ordered, sat down then was told I had to take my food and leave. The sign says closes at 9:00 so I assumed I had plenty of time to eat and be out by 9:00. The owners were not willing to bend and only complained they had been there for 12 hours. First time ever being asked to leave before closing. Will not go back due to owners response. Ended up having to eat in my car with my daughter because we were not close to home.
