Hinanos burgers seems to be famous as it's mentioned a few times in a few shows and from other people that live in the area and it's way overrated. Maybe it receives a lot of high praise since it's the only dive bar in the area and everything else has been replaced or has seen a face lift. I took a while for me to get an order in and the bar tenders are probably more interested in chatting up some patrons. Anyways back to the food it was alright. It's like any hole in the wall burger spot. Could just go to George's on Lincoln it's a better burger spot for that and you don't have to wait 10 mins to place an order.

What I Ordered: -World Famous Cheeseburger $11 I read online that Hinano has one of the best burgers in all of LA. They weren't wrong, especially for the price. You get a decent-sized burger with all the fixings, some spicy peppers, and a bag of chips for $11. This is an unbelievable deal. You factor in the fact that you are a stone's throw away from the beach. I would easily pay $14 or $15 or more for that burger. It's really a bargain! I love the vibe of this bar. It's a relaxed surfer bar with sawdust shavings on the flour. They have several surfboards displayed on the ceiling for decor. It appears they take cards now despite what other people say online, but you will pay a higher price than cash. It's worth it to pay cash and save money (3% or so). There's an ATM inside as well. The pool table costs $1 per game. There are two pool tables. They only have beer/wine. They do have fireball shots, tho! There's complimentary popcorn for customers. The urinal in the men's room is made out of a mini keg, which is unique and cool. I really dig the vibe here. I'll be back to try these breakfast burritos as well - as they are apparently also very good.

I seldom make out to Venice but when I do, I will always stop by this amazing neighborhood bar for a cold one and a burger. I was shocked how delicious my burger was and cooked to my specifications when you consider how affordable it is! Service is great. All the employees are awesome, shoutout to Melissa who is my favorite and although not there full time anymore, is known to make a cameo behind the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe here is awesome. As much as I'd like to give Hinano's Cafe a five star review the Burger came out luke warm Not hot the it should be if it was served right from the kitchen efficiency . When I used to come here. They were always hot and had more moisture. The flavor was still good. I hope the next time I come here the burger served right off the grill . It's still a nostalgic place that's been here since 1962. Hopefully next time.

4++ A dive bar dripping with local and beach vibes. The service here was great and everybody's pretty chill and relaxed. It's been years since I've been back to this place, but I came here recently to try their cheeseburger. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place is pretty packed. There is also live music inside that was playing for a while. I ordered the cheeseburger at the counter near the front and grab the seat inside with a couple of friends. I have to say the cheeseburger was great. Just a solid backyard barbecue style cheeseburger serve with all the fixings like lettuce, tomato and onion, etc. It's pretty sizable so I was only able to eat the regular cheeseburger and got full off of that. I chose the cheddar. Pretty solid value for the price. I'm not sure if you could modify the order, but I don't remember choosing how my burger was prepared or the type of chips, lol. I figured they're so busy and I am not too picky (as well as having faith that the way they want to serve the burger is good) so I didn't really bother. They have a few TVs here so they probably play sports on them (the Copa America was on TV during our visit) and a pretty solid selection of beers. Definitely a chill place to hang out at near the beach.

Taylor made my experience more memorable but every server, cook and bartender has been amazing. Great service. I come here for breakfast and after hours. Now that's a burger! Finally, a real burger in LA. No, seriously. I've heard so much gaga from little hipsters and Gen Z snowflakes about "incredible burger" spots that I want to ALMOST go vegan. This bar looks seedy and slightly filthy, but that's only atheistic. A burger that contains meat should fall over the edge of the bun and have a generous amount of toppings. And this one does! They get a star removed due to the fact that they don't have fries. But Cheetos is a nice little dive bar surprise. Go for it! Makes you feel sorry for the rest. This burger delivers.

Perfect little beach cafe just steps off the shore. Unfussy, no frills. The burgers are indeed excellent, served with an array of pickles and peppers and a bag of chips, your choice from a snack size assortment. Order a PBR in a bottle - the next one is free if your bottle cap has an ace. They only take cash and no children are allowed inside.

It's quite huge, filling, and good bang for the buck for $9.75 including tax + $2 tip. It wasn't so flavorful and juicy and seemed like a regular burger. It really didn't exceed my expectations and love up to its hype unfortunately. I personally found In N Out's double double to be better, in my honest opinion. Cash only here too. Tip: Park on the side streets for free parking

After hearing that the burgers were great, I decided to give it a try. I can report that they are OK. I was not overwhelmed. It was good, but pretty basic. I also got a side of chili, and liked it. What the place has going for it is ambiance and location. It's a legit dive bar, within throwing distance of the beach. There's plenty of outdoor seating, where you can enjoy the scenery.

We have been going to Hinano Cafe for years. We get a burger and a beer about once a month. It's a very good locals bar. Beer, pool tables, live entertainment some nights, sawdust on the floor, and their double bacon cheese burgers are always satisfying. Served in a paper tray with a bag of chips, a pickle spear, and some pickled peppers. It's casual, and the Venice Beach people watching can't be beat. read more

Been here before to have a drink and listen to bands . But I've never been here for the burger that everyone raves about . So my husband took me for lunch! It did not disappoint! A burger is a burger but this burger at Hinano's is so delicious! I'm not joking! You definitely need to come to Venice and try! So delicious! read more

If you're looking for a classic yet very nostalgic summer style backyard burger then Hinano's is your spot. It's just a legit burger, nothing special really or to write home about but damn does it hit the spot, you can make it a single double, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, no cheese, add bacon, add hot link! Whatever you want. Spoiler alert: they don't do fries. Only bagged chips. (channel your in n out food truck memories if you're an LA kid) This is also a bar- a total dive bar at that. Think trashy pub with hay on the ground filled with locals and Venice beach bums, greasy food and booze. Don't forget to get an icy cold coke with your burger. Beach locals, don't mean to blow your spot up, but this dive bar a few feet away from Venice Beach makes the best cheeseburger in L.A. Been coming here for years and the burger is still as good as the first time my mouth met it 15 years ago. Sure, it's a dive bar, but if your bourgeois ass can get past that fact, it's worth it. Just make sure you lock your bike up real nice outside if you rode there (used to take the Ballona Creek all the way up from Culver City and always ended up here). I think I know why it's so damn good: the patties are huge and just soaked in butter! At least that's what I can taste. And it looks like that cast iron flat top they cook it on hasn't been cleaned since Bush 2. Nothing wrong with that. That's where the extra flavor comes! Very no frills. Just really good, well seasoned meat that's dripping with juice and blanketed by some good ol' Merican cheese, some freshly chopped lettuce and a sliced tomato. Basic, like most good burgers are, but so damn good. Please don't be LAish and ask for an avocado slice or turkey substitute. Just take it like it is. No fries served here, unfortunately, but I can't complain. Just get some chips, an ice cold Modelo and you're good to go! Then you can tell all your bros in corporate the one time you were slumming it over in Venice and you discovered this place! read more

This is to me is the best burger in all of Los Angeles county. I've been coming here for 18 years and have never left disappointed . The spot is on the beach and the people are incredibly friendly and the waitstaff works relentlessly hard. The vibe here is definitely a cool one as there's locals and beach goers alike who come to feast on these delicious cheese burgers. The ambiance is added to by the outside seating area that didn't exist before but now let's you have the best burger with one of the best beach areas. If you're on the beach or walking towards Marina Del Rey from Venice or the other way around, be sure to stop for this cheeseburger. Take it from me, I'm not a skinny man nor morbidly obese but as I'm reminded by coming here, I definitely know how to eat. Forget Flatburger, In and Outhouse, Stinks or any other wanna be LA burger joint, Hinano has them all beat! read more

Hi .. was super excited to be here .. recently moved to MDR . Came and we were having a great time for about 1.5 hours spending money . Had a great bartender and then all of a sudden this little Rudy comes up and tells me put your dog on the ground ! And I am super respectful of that but I told him ..you have saw dust all over the floor and I have a shitzu and if you know they sniff it all so she was on my lap for 1.5 hours before little Rudy appeared. And also is a certified service dog. He told me he doesn't care so I said close us out asshole and our wonderful bartender said I don't even know what this is .. so I asked for the manager.. her name is Mary .. so I would love to hear from you Mary to help me understand. Such a disappointment we were having a great time and loving the music and vibe. read more

Hinano Cafe is a Venice staple. Been coming here for years and it had stayed true to its roots. The prices have gone up to keep up with inflation but its still very reasonably priced. You can tell the flat top hasn't been cleaned in years because of the undeniable robust burger flavor that only comes with years of use. Deliciously cooked beef patty with melty cheese topped with fresh shredded lettuce, crunchy onions, sliced tomatos, and mustard on a pillowy seeded bun. No fries here; instead you'll get a small bag of chips, some pickles, and some hot peppers if you like spice. They have a nice selection of beers to pair with your burger and pool tables inside. They added some outdoor seating during the pandemic to give it some ambiance. Still have the tiny bathroom and the sawdust on the floor. Keep up the good work! read more

i really show up for the burger. all is right in the world when you're sitting at the bar with your friends, playing pool listening to some music and you have a beer a burger and some laughs. This is one of my favorite things to do during the week or especially on the weekends. The vibes are typically right although there are some days where the crowd can get a little rowdy but we're by the beach what do you expect? I would recommend to go there you want to conclude your night maybe play some pool and grab a drink while traffic is dying down there's usually some entertainment outside at the same time. i'm not sure if you got the purpose of this post but it is to get a burger so make sure to get the burger. The chili is good too but just do yourself a favor and get yourself a burger. Don't expect any fries you get some chips, a pickle and some peppers but get yourself a burger. enjoy! read more

Great burgers, cold beer, cool local crowd and pool table--just steps from the pier at Venice Beach. Ive been coming to Hinano for years. I like grabbing a table outside and watch the people pass by. The burgers are huge and tasty with fresh lettuce and sliced onions on a nice bun. And they have a good selection of beer on tap. Best burger in Venice - no questions asked. I've been coming here for 10+ years, and Hinano has thrown down a consistent flat top grilled sesame seed bun burger that leaves me wanting a second EVERY time. Tip - add both cheeses to make it even more enjoyable. Pair it with a frosty mug of draft beer and teleport to cloud 9! And don't forget - The breakfast burrito is exceptional!!! read more

About as divey as it gets in Los Angeles with sawdust on the floor and live music! As well as the gruff and tough bouncers. The burger was pretty yummy and not for a bad price. The pool tables are pretty busy though and are not laidback so do not come here if you want a casual pool night with friends (the sharks will get ya and your dollar)! Overall, definitely a fun night out but the bar is super small so you may feel a little claustrophobic. read more

My friend and I ditched out on our group at the Whaler to eat cheap dive food from Hinano. This was most definitely the best decision of the night! Hinano Cafe's atmosphere is right up my alley! Dive bar-esque, pool tables, sticky floors, and wall to wall people drinking beer. This little bar also serves up late night bites, making it my new bestie. The food isn't anything special, but filling up after a few too many shots is necessity. I ordered their grilled cheese which was served with a giant pickle and bag of chips. I inhaled this goodness, and it might have saved my night. My friend ordered the burger and she was also pretty impressed! My only compliment is that Hinano doesn't serve hard alcohol. We attempted to enter this restaurant that is really a bar, this morning for breakfast. The guy told us We open at 8, even thought the door was open and it was 7.57. He then told us they had no cash. We said, no problem. They take credit cards...which he never mentioned. We sit down at the bar and the guy turns the lights of on us. He tells me to use the light on my phone. This guy was the rudest jerk I've ever encountered. He obviously doesn't want to work or do anything. If I was the owner, I would fire this guy immediately. He had dark hair and glasses...not the cook. Hopefully the owner sees this. Get rid of this loser!!! read more

This place blends a very long history of quirky bits into a uniquely refreshing and local CASH ONLY dive bar experience. I had the cheeseburger. No changes or substitutions. I had it just as they intended it. No fries here. Chips only and a pickle. I threw in a local pilsner to round out the meal. It was all simply fantastic. From an atmosphere standpoint the pictures tell the story. This place basically invites you to take a load off, be yourself for a while and enjoy a great experience with local flair. Hinano's has some of the best burgers, you will love them all. Now they can call this a café all they want, but this is a bar and you need to be 21 to get in. Once in there is a long bar, some tables and in the back are pool tables and sometimes a local band will play. The place is super fun and the staff is so great. They know about the area, they know their menu. The locals love the place. They have a bouncer outside, but don't let him scare you, he is a puppy--kind and sweet. Right down the street is the Venice Pier and the beach. Next to Hinano's is a long strip of shops, other eateries and a pizza place. Any of their burgers are great. They are made fresh and you will be a happy camper. They only take cash, so have some. Their prices are very reasonable. read more

Just moved to this neighborhood and I am obsessed with Hinano's. Just to be clear, you don't come here for the food. It's a dive bar (beer and wine only) that happens to also served a few bites: burgers, veg burgers, tuna melts with a bag of chips. The bartenders are awesome, specifically Susan. On weekends there will often-times be a band of a bunch of retired old men living their best lives jamming out. They are the most dog-friendly bar I have ever been to. It's a little dive in Venice beach area. Just nice to chill outside at one of their tables. I ordered a mimosa and a beer and prices were pretty reasonable. The mimosa was a single serving Champaign bottle and single serve OJ also ordered a beef and chicken taco. It was pretty tasty for a non taqueria. This was the only place that had a bathroom too. The best dive bar in America and the only one still in existence where James Douglas Morrison carved his initials. The regulars (usually named Mark) are perfect and the staff are both professional AND good natured. Dogs (including my wayward Husky are welcomed). A super solid cheeseburger. Cold beer. Not really sure you need any more than those two things to make a place great. The tiki torch patio is nice, walled off by bamboo from the foot and car traffic of Washington. Service is at the window and rather responsive. I felt bad for the turtles with so many drunk kids hovering over them and all the lights and absurdly loud speakers. On any other night, it would be a cool place to sip a brew with the ocean breeze in your hair and toss some cornhole bags around with pals. One more note: parking can be scarce being on a busy street. Make sure to check street signage. I got lucky and snagged a close spot but others may have to walk a bit.

We do not even drink Modelos either which we thought was funny of even being accused of doing something like that. We even explained to him to check the camera footage again to see it was just a smart water he threw away. My friend briefly walked to the trash can to During our time there, we observed that we were the only customers of color present who were not being served, while the bartender continued to serve white customers. When we calmly asked the bartender about the situation and why we were not being served, he became defensive and refused to provide his name after we expressed concern that the treatment felt discriminatory. His response was that he did not feel comfortable giving his name after we raised the issue of racism. We really wanted to just check this place out because we thought it was funny how a bar opens so early. Yet, we left feeling upset over all this. Based on the circumstances, the experience felt unfair and discriminatory. We simply wanted to be treated with the same respect and service as other customers. I hope management reviews this situation seriously and ensures that all patrons are treated equally and respectfully in the future.

I feel like my visit to Venice Beach Bar & Kitchen made me a tourist in Venice Beach because I got to see (and more importantly feel) the world famous beach transition from day to evening splash. This allowed me to see the beach's sky shift in shade and hue, which was a treat for the other 4 senses, not just the view for the eyes. Thus, I experienced a Venice Beach beach night in a comfortable spot that allowed me to take in the moment, a tourist's dream, per chance. On a previous night walk, some fun-loving dudes were waving hello to passing walkers, from the second floor of this joint. They were sticking themselves out from windows. I engaged back with them, and it all felt breezy and cool. Thus, I made a point to return to this bar to experience the vibe that jolted these dudes to window fun. As my friend Conrad and I approached, we felt the setting sun, the chill of a breeze, and the cool pop of a night to be had. When we got the security guard he checked for Conrad's ID but not my own. He said, "I was more worried about him, than you," no offense. I said, "it does sound like a little like a slap in the face." I should have been beach cool and said, "no you are fine, who can possible take offense to that?" He further explained that the joint was still a bar and restaurant but good luck with finding a spot to sit. As soon as Conrad and I entered we found a table for two in their beach facing patio. Like a ninja with a mission I scurried to the open table. In crowded places like this one, politeness matters 1000% percent. I just rushed to the table, because it was open, I did not elbow or verbally pushed others aside for the table. I was politely determined not rudely in a rush. When we sat at the table, that is where we could best enjoy the Venice Beach environment. When we first sat the light of the day waning was present. We could still see the blue of the sky and the water. The sky's clouds were becoming filled with color, like a subtle pink. The palmtrees lost their color, now they were only black silhouettes, a sight I never get tired off because its California classic. It was peace in the beach, while I was sitting in a chair, not laying on a beach towel. The opportunity to be at the beach, while not being at the beach, is a great point for this place! During my visit I had four of their tacos. I had their pes-cod-do and their squash taco first. They were ok. I expected more but that could be my expectation, there was nothing wrong with them per say. Then I had a corn on a stick, and two more tacos. Their carne asada, and their Gringo, which was made of ground beef. I like these tacos way more! But they were easily to like. Like the ground beef taco had all the ingredients of an American taco- sour cream, shredded lettuce, and it was easy to enjoy because it was all familiar and flavorful. The carne asada taco was not made with think skirt steak. It was made with thick cut pieces of steak, and it was the best tack of the four, easily. The corn was also super good! The corn was steamed in water. I would have liked it to be roasted but that was. personal preference. I had two margaritas- pineapple and they were strong and tasty. Conrad got some chipotle wings, with sliced carrots on top, which was a new sight for me. The wings were also good, I tried one, but buffalo is not a sauce for me. The place itself is spacy and has two floors. It was not super packed for a Saturday night but I am not complaining. This place is a beach bar and beach bar, at least in my mind, is not really for the night but for the day.

**MANAGEMENT WAS RUDE AND CONDESCENDING**On 10/14/14 about 3:30pm, a female Gray Pitbull wearing a harness & a leash had run away just off Washington Blvd. A woman found this dog & walked her from restauant to restaurant, including the Hinano Cafe asking if anyone knew her owner. **The woman, finder of the dog, was described by multiple restaurant staff as being a short, average size, short reddish hair, wearling a hat. She has not come forward with the dog after this time and this beloved family pet is still missing. **The ONLY WAY to try to identify the Finder would be through the security video The Hinano Cafe had. This was the only place that had possible video available of the woman standing in front of their restaurant. The management and the owner had been nicely asked (in person & phone, owner by email) by the dog's owner and myself explaining this would be the key to getting their beloved family member home. **MANAGEMENT WAS RUDE AND CONDESCENDING, using a nasty tone of voice, saying that they could not access the video and were too busy...then later saying they did check video and it was overwritten. (Initial approach was about 4 days after the video would have been taken and would surely have been available). We believe there is 3-4 weeks on their system. ** I sent an email to who I thought would be the owner receiving & responding and received a reply similar to what one of the managers told me -- that they had checked the video the prior week and was over written. I don't know if it was the same manager who had typed the email or indeed the owner (would have been about 1 1/2 weeks after the incident) Although this was a timely situation, there was NO ATTEMPT TO BE COMPASSIONATE and retrieve a visual in order to help, even knowing they could be the only hope. The video might still be avaiable as of today with time available running out, but, we have been brushed off and feeling helpless in trying to track down the missing dog!!! read more

This place it just a hop, skip, and jump way so I'm sad I don't frequent their establishment more often. I am not really a beer drinker but I gave this place four stars based on their cold beer. I have never had colder beer. The frosted mugs and frosted glass pitchers really step up the quality of the beer and joint itself. I was sad to find out it is only beer and wine and no hard liquor to be found, I really could have used shot after the day I was having but again the beer was amazing and will be the sole reason I come back. I really enjoyed the hole in the wall feel of this place. Very laid back and casual. I was starting to worry I would never find a drive bar in Los Angeles that I enjoyed. Had heard a lot about their "amazing" burgers but I was not impressed. I will never have one again. So when I asked some friends for a good burger on the Westside, after the standard "In-N-Out" answer, they told me about this place. When we rolled up to this little hole-in-the-wall, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a (beer & wine) bar! But before we got inside, we had to circle around a bunch of times to find parking because this is Venice, and everyone else in LA has flocked here just to park. Also this place only takes cash, which meant my plastic credit card was no good there and I had to get spotted by my friends. The beers are the standard variety, and the burgers were OK but nothing to call mi madre about. I wanted to like this place... It is a great place to pre-party with a couple beers. But in terms of the burger, I should have went to In-N-Out and just picked up some gigante packs of beers at the next door Costco. Plus Hinano's parking is worst than parking at the Costco on a Sunday (but only by a small amount). read more

FUCK THIS PLACE!!!!!!The bartender is a racist, crack smoking, asshole who is at the very top of my shit list. The burgers are good until you see the dirty bartender put his nasty ass fingers all over it. Not to mention the fact that when you eat your burger, you have to watch it at all times, otherwise he will throw it away...like he did to me. When I complained, this dumb ass motherfucker went into the trash, pulled it out and said here you go. After I told him " Are you fucking kidding me", he kicked me out. this place used to be best local spot in Venice back in the day, but the bouncers and management have slowly yet surely weeded out any of the remaining and loyal locals by making false accusations, kicking out locals unjustly but letting tourists stay regardless of their behavior, and straight out lying about situations regarding local patrons but protecting the valley goons who drop in once a month. get a clue, morons. the locals paid your rent. But you treated them with disdain instead of appreciation for their loyal patronage. remember this when u can't afford your rent here any longer, and you have to move to valley with the goons you love. read more

I love the outdoor seating !! perfect in time for the summer. as much as I was bummed out when they shut down during the pandemic, I think having outdoor seating is the best thing since sometimes it gets too crowded in there and rightfully so. The best cheeseburger ever! I love the small peppers they include in each order. They have a nice patty melt sandwich as well. No fries. Burger is big and tasty, fresh cooked at the end of the bar. Perfect with a draft beer. Prices are good, crowd is lively, music loud and good. Place was full on a Saturday at lunch; we had to wait for stools to open at the bar. Only a few tables, don't expect to go in with a crowd and sit together - a few of you will be standing. I took a bike ride from Redondo Beach to Venice and stopped in for the for a burger at Hinano Cafe. The special sauce they put on the cheese burgers is fantastic. Live music was playing and plenty of cool people enjoying the good vibe. I have eaten here many times and every time I am in Venice this is a definite chill spot. I love Hinano! Literally every single time I come to Venice I stop by and grab a burger and a beer. Great atmosphere, delicious burgers, good beers, and most importantly everything is very reasonably priced. The bar is cash only but if you plan ahead it's obviously not an issue. Another notable point is the fact that they actually have their own brand of beer that's made in Tahiti. I can't speak to the burgers, since we were here between meals and didn't have room for one. I can speak to how friendly the bartender was (she gave us free chips!) and the awesome frosty mugs that came with our pitcher. Why does beer taste so much better out of these things? I can't figure it out. But I can' think of anything better than relaxing in Hinano, enjoying a quiet beer with friends on a slow afternoon. Next time -- burgers. read more

The security guard who was clearly intoxicated on drugs on the job was starting problems with a bunch of guys, screaming in their face then turned around and punched 2 innocent women in the face! the poor girls were bleeding everywhere. I love how people write reviews based on a bouncer not the bar, clearly sounds like they were drunk assholes with drunk friends. Especially cause they are upset for being kicked out of a dive bar. I've had three separate friends on different occasions over the last 3 months tell me that they have been solicited and now they just stand out to me like sore. Thumbs. Sweet dive bar right by the Venice pier. It's cash only so that's the only downfall but regardless, the atmosphere and the cheap beer prices make up for it. Top 10 burger in LA hands down, maybe in the top five. The place is a dive bar with style and a cool Venice vibe.
