This is one of my favorite little shops on w. Charleston.

This is one of my favorite little shops on w. Charleston. Its a mother and son operating a sushi and Boba place with expansive menus. Its located in a food court so its a foodies best drop in. I have eaten meals at each of the shops and all the food is served fresh and ready as its made to order. You can order ahead and the business also participates in Too good to go a waste reduction app. The son is skilled in preparation and delivers on both flavor and presentation. The Mother gives you that warm mother charm even though her English is limited so patience is a virtue here but it dosent mean a long wait. Drop in for a taste you'll have a blast and plenty to chose from!

It is closed on Mondays. A waste of time to come here. It is in a food court with just a few tables to sit at.

Review #10 of 2024 Saturday January 20th 2:35 P.M visit Meh... Went to place an order for edamame as that's my son's favorite when we go out to eat. There was a teenage boy behind the register and he wouldn't acknowledge me. A lady that was cooking asked me what I'd like to order and this kid just tantrumed out by sighing loudly and hesitating to punch in my order, then storming off after I paid. The lady was really nice and brought out the order once it was ready. Based on the cashier's display of emotion, no tip. My son enjoyed his food, but I could have gone without the entertainment of the cashier.

Great sushi. Tasted great. Quick service and the service was good as well. The place is in a food court place. Not the cutest

    What we ordered

We ordered thru door dash to the strip. What we ordered is pictured below. I enjoyed the liza-liza and red rock the best. Overall all the sushi was fresh and nicely presented. Would order from here again.

Enjoyable experience! I was craving light sushi one afternoon and I was by the West Charleston area near CSN (a community college.) I found a community food plaza and inside was Hinode-Sushi! Hinode-sushi is a small Japanese eatery. I ordered the salmon skin roll and it was delicious! I also loved that this place gave off casual fast-food sushi vibe. Often times I visit a sushi restaurant and it's more of a sit-down and you get served kind of joint but Hinode-sushi is definitely much more laid back! The prices were quite cheap too! The salmon skin roll was only $8! I say this place is a must-try!!!

Food was great as aways All bento are the best highly recommended!!!! #must try #yummy

We made reservations on a Friday night for 6:30pm--there were a couple of tables w/patrons. By 7:30pm they were near full. Plenty of tables W/sushi bar, great alcohol menu, and lots of parking. The sushi was fresh with a beautiful display and multiple offerings, including classic and designer rolls. The service was excellent w/various staff checking on us to ensure we didn't need anything. The ambience has a cool vibe with hip background music and low lights. If you are craving sushi, consider TARU. The restaurant itself is spacious, modern, and the service was super friendly. Now let's talk about the food... OMG, we ordered SO much and every single bite tasted incredibly fresh Favorites? The Suzuki, salmon belly, creamy uni pasta that was rich but not heavy at all, mussels, cucumber salad, uni, and the seared salmon with tobiko. Every dish just kept getting better and better. Safe to say... I LOVE this restaurant and already want to go back for more. Definitely coming here again

Chef Shuji runs the restaurant with his wife next to him in the kitchen. The fish here is flown in from Japan and of the highest quality as you can see from the sheen and fat marbling. The tuna melts in your mouth and bite after bite is a wonderful experience as you pair it with soy sauce, fresh Wasabi, yuzu Wasabi, or some combination of the condiments provided. This is also the first sushi restaurant I have ever been to that automatically brings out fresh Wasabi without having to ask. The portions are generous and we left feeling very satisfied. Even though we were very full, we took a look at the dessert menu. Not pictured here is a sweet potato with ice cream and brown sugar glaze. This dish on the menu was unassuming but the taste was so decadent. Quite possibly the best and sweetest sweet potato I have ever tasted. The chef slowly roasts them over a 2 hour period, rotating the potatoes every so slightly every 15 minutes. The sweet potato could be a dessert by itself, it was that good! Chef Shuji is a charming and funny host. He regularly comes out to greet his customers and makes sure they are enjoying their meal, very high-touch. If you know Japanese - even if it's just a few phrases, speak with him as he will be delighted. He was absolutely tickled when we said arigato and he shared that he is originally from Kyoto. Cannot wait to return to Shigotonin!

However, in the consequent rounds after, the waiter took more and more time to come and take our order. The nigiri here is really good and like the other Yelp reviews here say, the fish to rice ration is perfect. Lots of fish to little rice. Get this when you come, you're going to get the biggest bang for your buck. We had some rolls that were pretty good and some rolls that were not good at all, and you have to finish them otherwise they charge you. The rolls had the worst rice to fish ratio and just didn't taste good. Lots of "filler" in there, don't get the rolls when you come. We got the A menu, but honestly we could have done without the specialty items. They were good, but ordering a bunch of nigiri is enough. Overall, I would come here again, but just don't get the rolls, they're not worth your stomach space and they're not good. Would have given this place a higher rating if not for the bad rolls we had. Good price for AYCE sushi and quality is good!
