I came and tried the white Iverson drink (I got it cold) and I thought it tasted good and was nice! It didn't leave a long-lasting impact on me though; I don't feel like I have to come back super soon. It was very sweet, I drank some and then added milk when I got home and that made it more balanced. I liked the vibe of Hippies Brew Express inside and that nice staff who helped us. I think I would come back again on a Saturday morning to get a coffee and walk around the nearby farmers market with it! read more

Hippies Brew is what I get when I want something sweet with a hint of coffee LOL. I got the Brown Suga Baby (oat milk latte with mint leaves). It wasn't overly sweet and the mint made it really refreshing. Like I said tho, the coffee taste is really mild so don't be surprised. I also got the cinnamon toast. It was 5 bucks for 2 pieces. They were fine but def skippable. It's an express version so there's no seats. I came around 1030 on a Monday, they had a steady flow of customers but no long waiting. read more

Took a sad girl walk in downtown Hayward on my day off. I've always wanted to try this place but am always at work during their hours... but not today!! I liked the drink I got it was good balance of coconut and chocolate. Nothing overpowering and compliments each other well. Almost like an almond joy in drink form.. it wasn't too sweet which I would say is a win! Can't wait to go back and try some of their other specialty drinks. read more

Been waiting to try this place for a long time since I have seen many good comments through Yelp. We ordered 2 sandwiches and costed us about $30(plus tip) which I felt like it was overpriced. Honestly, I won't be back for sandwiches but might be back to try their coffee read more

I love Hippies Brew! The coffee is a bit over priced but it taste sooo good. I like to get the Rick Ross less sweet and light ice. Parking here can be a bit challenging since it is in a downtown area. This location is found connected to the Hayward Library and is less busy than the Union City location. I do see dogs outside often and it's a nice place to go for a walk after grabbing your coffee. The people working here are usually very nice and helpful. read more

Service was quick and friendly! I wish every library had coffee this good available! The peppermint patty was a bit unexpected for a peppermint mocha, it was definitely more "minty" with actual mint leaves in the coffee. Loved the coconut touch in the coffee. Overall very yummy read more

I reviewed their Smith (Union City) location nearly a year ago. I prefer their other location; but, this Hayward Express location is much closer to my husband's workplace. It gives me a reason to drive from the tri valley to stop by and say hi to him. Oh, and to stop at the Costco Business Center. Lol! I stick to the Rick Ro$$ since that's my favorite beverage here. I tried the 'yonce once (I hope I said it correctly) and didn't care for it. This location makes their drinks quickly which is awesome; but, Customer Service is non existent here. They don't smile here and I feel uncomfortable...almost uninvited if that makes sense when I walk in. It's a weird feeling that I can't put my finger on it. The employees here don't even crack a smile here. Basically, if you want your HB caffeine fix; expect to roll in and right back out. They definitely live up to the Express part. read more

The drinks we got were amazing! We both got the Rick Ross and it was simply the best. I don't usually drink coffee often but I'd go out of my way for this one. Also the French toast sandwich was a great blend of savory sweet. All to top it off was the friendliness of the owners who were so fun to talk to. Will be going again! read more

Great drinks, kind & fast service, & a great location at the Hayward Public Library made our experience at Hippies Brew Express quite pleasant! This little café has limited seating but there are more tables in the actual library! I noticed that it smells so pleasant because they sell French toast and other breakfast options as well. I ordered the Sorta Kinda Latte which had brown sugar, cold brew, and cinnamon sweet cream. It was so, so tasty that I wish there was a location closer to me! This small coffee shop is part of the Hayward public library. They offer medium and large size coffees, some breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I usually get the Yoncè or the White Iverson. Both are delicious but also very sweet. If you are lactose intolerant or prefer dairy free milk they do have a few oat milk options. The coffee shop is very small on the inside with no indoor seating, there are some tables and benches outside to use. It also doesn't have a parking lot but there are usually places to park on the street. They also offer a online order feature, but it does end 1 hour before they close. read more

Coffee and a lil bite! Food was alright and tbh wouldn't spend my money on that but the coffees...were SO fun and interesting. Got a mint one and the white iverson and highly recommend. More on the sweeter side and playful side but I really enjoyed it. Not something I would want to drink every day because it's probably loaded with some syrup or sugar but really delicious. The good: I got the mint iced latte and enjoyed it a lot. It definitely was packed with a lot of caffeine because I felt the jolt and energy boost immediately at work when I had it delivered. Some coffees don't make me feel wired but this one has me up at night. The fresh mint was refreshing and added the right level of herb essence without overpowering the coffee. It reminded me of Philz' Mint Mojito. It's described on the menu as being strong so I don't know how "weak" their other coffees compare. I liked the shaken frothiness of my iced drink. The bad: It'll be almost $7 for a coffee. It's definitely more of a treat than an everyday coffee for me because of the high price. The interesting: Their latte options all sound interesting and delicious. Some folks love straight coffee without added flavor options but I love a fun flavor twist with my coffee. I will definitely come back to try their fun flavors like the coconut one. The flavor names are all hip, edgy and interesting. read more

I love Hippies Brew. Black-owned, latinx-owned, WOMEN-OWNED! We love to see it! Coffee here is sweet. Like dessert sweet, like a Friday treat...whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't necessarily go here on a daily basis or anything. I usually drink my coffee black but I come here whenever I want to treat myself. The kinda sorta latte with oat milk is my go to. Hot or iced, it tastes like a liquid cinnamon roll. This location is very small, tucked right in the Hayward library. I get so excited when I find street parking right next to the store but there is also a parking garage right behind it too. Hippies Brew Express is literally an express, take and go. There is probably enough space inside for 4 or 5 people to stand comfortably. There is also a few tables and benches to sit and sip outside. Unclear if you can bring your coffee inside the library. I will definitely be trying one of those breakfast sandos next time! read more

Yummy coffee! I was exploring Downtown Hayward over the weekend and wanted some coffee. Searched Yelp and found this place. Hippies Brew is connected to the Hayward library and there is plenty of free parking around the structure. I ordered the mint drip and it was fantastic. I would say it was even better than Philz mint mojito! There was lots of mint leaves and the drink was really rich/creamy. I'd say it was more of a dessert coffee, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Give Hippies Brew a try if you're a fan of Philz. :) read more

Hippies Brew has always been one of my go-to coffee places! The Rick Ross has always been my tried and true. I have probably tried every single thing on the menu as I've supported Hippies Brew when they opened up since peak COVID quarantine days! I always go back to my iced Rick Ross with Almond milk! Yes, they have some dairy free options!!! They have it for certain flavors as everything is premade. One thing that always stood out to me about Hippies Brew are the names of their drinks! Like cmon, Rick Ro$$, Yonce, I'm in luv with da coco, Purple Rain, etc! This was sooo unique and one of its own. I will always pride HB for their drink names! For all my coffee lovers, HB is a bit on the sweeter side! Which i personally like! I would consider it a lighter coffee in the sense where you'll be able to finish your iced coffees easily and wont be too much to where you cant finish it! read more

I love the new location of this great coffee shop! The owner (Sonny) has an incredible story of how she founded this business with a dream and under $1K. I love their breakfast sandwiches and my favorite coffees options are the Yonce, Ice Loves Coco and the Rick Ross. The freakin French toast sandwich is also fire I've been making it a thing to get me some coffee & food, park up in the little grass area across the street for a bit and maybe check out the library as well. Love this little routine of mine, go try it out. It will not disappoint read more

I have heard of Hippies Brew for quite some time now, but never had the chance to go. Hubby and I was suppose to go get breakfast, but ended up running some late errands, which caused us to not be able to go to the restaurant that we wanted to. I suggested going to Hippies Brew since I have heard great things about their drinks and food. Upon arriving, we ordered the Gangsta'$ Paradise and their McLovin'. I had wanted to try the Freakin' French Toast but I believe that they ran out since we came super late. I really enjoyed the drink and the breakfast sandwich. I'm looking forward to coming back to trying the other drinks and hopefully be able to finally try the Freakin' French Toast or just any of their other food items. I'm so glad that this is close by to home. read more

Local coffee shop in Hayward, attached to the new Hayward public library. It's small but always busy, so I'd thought I'd stop by on my way home one Saturday. Their menu items are named after musical artists, which is kinda cool, being a lover of music. I ordered a Yonce and Purple Rain and both are pretty sugary. Honey drinks tea and she had to dilute the Purple Rain. They both were good, but the sugar content was high. We also had the Mclovin Muffin and the Freakin French Toast. The breakfast was great. Lots of flavors and cooked just right. The staff was friendly and attentive. 3 stars because of the sweetness of the drinks. It's great for a specialty drink on occasions but not a daily go-to. read more

I went came to read in the library but came an hour early. I decided to wait it out at the Hippies Brew and I'm glad I got their McLovin breakfast muffin to keep me company. It was a messy and hardy bite that compliments the hippie vibe - plus it had a yummy secret sauce that reminded me of the Big Mac sauce. Would have loved to see more variety in sandwich options. There wasn't any tables inside (at least while the library closed) but there was one small black table and a longer bench like table to sit outside. I got lucky since I didn't wanna eat without a place to put my muffin down. The staff are also super friendly and sweet. Worth a look especially since it's next to a nice park, downtown, and one of the prettiest libraries in the bay. read more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoy this hip coffee shop. We love the flavors and enjoy that although they are sweetened, not super sweet. Every time we have been in, all the employees have been friendly. It's not too difficult to find parking at this location the times we have been even on weekends. I haven't tried a flavor I didn't like! read more

I've known about Hippies Brew for a while but never made time to come into downtown Hayward. I was not in a rush so why not. Hippies Brew has moved to the corner of the Hayward library at the intersection of C street and Mission Blvd. GPS will guide you to C street where street parking is limited. If you are driving down Mission Blvd snag a space before or after C street. When you walk in there's just enough space to a form a line to order at the counter. I ordered a Ice loves Coco (drinks have very cute names) and a French press coffee with almond milk. The coffee was perfect and bold just the way I like it. I couldn't resist the giant almond croissant calling my name in the glass case. Excellent start to my day Now that I've finally had a Hippies Brew, I will make every excuse to drive here to try other drinks on their menu! read more

Every time I go to Hayward I always take a trip to Hippies Brew! Ice Loves Coco is a pretty sweet drink with a hint of coconut and some coconut bits inside. It's drizzled with chocolate syrup around the cup and is such a great drink to have on a hot day. The Rick Ross is also one of my faves. read more

We came here on a weekday after not being willing to wait in a long 40-person line on a weekend. There were still a few people, like 5-6 people, but a lot more tamed. They don't take phone orders, only grub hub or door dash (which is silly because I thought those apps took too much from small businesses). We ordered a bubble tea, Freakin French Toast, Pepe Le pew bubble tea, and the C Me Rollin. For about $30, the food is not cheap. I found that the freaking French toast was overpriced - microwaved eggs and a tiny bit of turkey bacon. The Pepe le pew was recommended to me but the lychee flavor with the coconut milk made me not really like the taste that much. I think the best part was the C Me Rollin, which was basically French toast with a lot of sugar and cinnamon and it came with this very sweet cream cheese that was really good. Definitely enjoyed that but I'm not sure everything was worth the price. I'd probably come back but definitely not on a weekend to avoid the massive line! read more

I truly missed this place Once upon a time when this location was on foothill I would almost get random over just to go and get a freaking French toast and a large iced Rick Ross! Okay love the concept right.... In theory. Workers were so sweet and kind BUT let me just say this if a coffee shop can't make a plain latte RUN. Came in not realizing this was the case and as soon as I figured this out I left with the quickness. This in my opinion is just an excuse for a sugary drink, not a real coffee shop where the coffee is the star. If this is what you are looking for that's okay but if you are like me and want real coffee....STAY AWAY. read more

Hold on.... A coffee shop with a solid five stars?!? It's impossible. No coffee drinker is ever completely satisfied with visiting a coffee drug dealer. That's what I call a good coffee place. Well, this dealer deserves its stars. I have made it a habit to follow this "hipster" culture. They know their food and they know their drank. I may not be able to pull off the style, but I'll sit at the table in the back and enjoy. My visit here was outstanding. The young lady behind the counter was SOOOOO friendly. Greeted me like a friend. Ran through the menu items thoroughly. She steered us towards the iced mint drip and the COCO mocho. Excellent. A new experience with my drug of choice. For eats, cheddar bacon scone sandwich and freakin French toast. Once again, I was terribly impressed. The sandwiches were as she had explained. They work in a confined counter top area and I got the impression the staff were having fun. The staff. Friendly. All smiles and excitement. Maybe due to the business being new, but I enjoyed it. Why couldn't they have more places like this while I was living in Hayward? I discovered this gem when I was looking for a good mom n pop coffee places in the local area. I'm a big coffee fanatic and wanted something beyond the chains around the area. Hippie Brew came up on my list and I decided to meet a girlfriend here for a coffee/brunch date on Saturday morning. I got there and parking was a breeze. Street parking for me, but I think there might be a lot behind the shop. Going in, I was met with a bunch of friendly faces, a beautiful aroma of sweet smelling coffee, and some really delicious sounding pastries on the menu. I got a regular pour-over paired with a bacon/cheddar scone (I think that's what it was...it was some bacon cheezy goodness baked into a scone...OOH so good). The atmosphere was chill and laid-back, in a good way. I got to chat with the owner a bit and it was refreshing to hear that she was also in search for a great coffee place in Hayward that could match those places in SF/ Berkeley. Where do I begin....... first off the staff are Rockstars super out going friendly attentive and....well let's just say talented in their craft. The drinks are addicting and once you try the freakin French toast Sammy (this guy put these folks on the map) is slap yo mama good! Dip it in the syrup and prepare to change your life!!!! For reals! My hands down fav drink believe it or not isn't even coffee. Madame Morocco tea latte! Trust me if you saw me you wouldn't think a man of my appearance would like tea. This is THE spot for breakfast food, and as someone who can't eat pork, their turkey bacon isn't a flaccid strip that's some measly second rate excuse for meat. Can't for the life of me remember the name of the dude who took my order but he was chill as hell (I know that's a contradiction), and he was helpful and informative with recommendations, as it was my first time. Hippies Brew's new Hayward location is an absolute gem! I stopped by to try the Gangta'$ Paradise cold drink and wow--it did not disappoint. Perfectly refreshing, just the right sweetness, and packed with flavor that hits all the right notes. I never new this place was here until one day I drove by. I needed a quick fix of coffee. I walked in,this place was jamming!! Friendly staff all greeted you when I walked in.The owner was even there talking and taking orders from customers. It felt like a little community and a bunch of nice people. Also, definitely get the iced mint drop coffee - it's similar to Phil'z coffee, but definitely contains more mint and foam. The staff is super nice, and very accommodating. Hubby loves this place but he is into sweet drinks and boba. I like my drinks on the darker side especially with teas. This place is really cute! They play fun music, have a huge mural on the wall, and have a great selection of breakfast meals. I tried the Rick Ross and the Iced Mint Drip and I couldn't have asked for more. The rick ross was a sweet combination of chocolate aroma and cinabbon. We got a medium Gangster's Paradise. It was our first time trying Hippies Brew and it was a wonderful experience! Gangster's Paradise tasted creamy and nutty and had toasted coconut toppings which added some texture to the drink. Overall, it was a 5/5 experience! One of my favorite things about Macs By Icky is that even after going months without visiting the store, they still remember me! The last time I stopped in, I ordered the Mac Nut Latte, and the guy at the register looked at me and said, "No Ube Latte today?" The Ube Latte is my usual go-to, so the fact that he remembered that made me smile. It's little things like that that make you feel appreciated as a customer instead of just feeling like another person placing an order. Bravo to the entire Macs By Icky team! The prices are pretty good for all the food you get. They stack your plate! We really enjoyed all the food (chilaquiles rojos and the verdes with meat, and three quesabirrias). We couldn't finish it all! You can tell it's all homemade, which is nice. A lot of places don't make their chilaquiles sauce from scratch. We'd definitely return. The only thing I'd pass on is the Vietnamese coffee. Maybe it was our fault for ordering this at a Mexican spot, but it tasted more like cold brew than Vietnamese coffee.

The drinks are poured into these amazing cups. They're beautiful! The mocha wasn't my favorite but the food was the highlight, so I'm not too upset. It is peaceful here but it also has a vibrant community energy on a Thursday late morning. This space is welcoming to all of the bay are community and if you didn't know it was a church, you would never know. It's for the whole neighborhood and beyond. There are tall round tables, bar tables, normal round tables, armchairs at tables, long barnhouse style tables. This space was thoughtfully curated to allow for relationships to be grown, work to be done, and quiet time to be experienced. The Americano I had is nice and strong (whoowee... I'm awake now!). They had interesting drink options and some baked goods. Prices were average for the Bay Area. I love that the cafe supports community outreach. From the web, it partners with this church and community programs. It seems to operate around community support and social impact initiatives. I love that they actively support Inclusion & Autism awareness and medical debt relief (WOW!). This is a cafe that is doing it right!

The lavender lemonade was very refreshing and not too sweet. The matcha latte on the other hand tasted watered down, so I could barely taste the matcha, super disappointing. It was a nice and sunny day so we decided to sit outside. The inside was very spacious, but I was overstimulated from all of people talking, especially when I was waiting in line. A good spot to stop by to grab a drink and enjoy the view outside if you're in the area. Glad I meet the time to check this place out.
