I ordered delivery from Uber eats during the Coronavirus lockdown. I had originally wanted sushi from my regular spot but they were already closed for the night so I decided to give this place a chance cause they have a nice comprehensive menu & sake bottles on their delivery menu. I'm so glad I did. I loovveee salmon and I found that they have a salmon plate ($24.95)with salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri , salmon roll(8 pieces), spicy salmon app & a soup or salad. They also have a tuna version is you're a tuna lover instead. I also ordered a side of sushi rice ($3) which came with a sprinkle of sesame seeds...my favorite. The spicy salmon app was a teeny tiny portion but it was very tasty with the side of rice. That was enough for me and I saved the rest for the next day. The next day I tackled the sashimi & roll & it still tasted super fresh & the rice was also still a good texture. A lot of times the rice gets hard if you refrigerate it overnight. Also want to mention that the sashimi pieces, nigiri & rolls were nicely sized. I've gotten smaller pieces from other restaurants and left feeling like I'd been robbed. Overall I am extremely happy with the quality & quantity of the sushi and will definitely make this restaurant my sushi go to delivery place. read more

2.7 Being on IG...you see so many enticing photos of places people go to enjoy some great eats...so this place popped up on my radar so I book marked it. However, the food was just ok...I was certainly looking for better quality and taste but I guess if I never came to see what it as all about, I would have been wondering for a long time. 3/5 Chicken Yakitori $6.50 was white meat that looked it was cooked already then seared or color. It was a little dry and a bit bland. Nothing like what I've had before at other places. 2/5 Beef Tataki $9.50 was just ok, the portion was fair but the beef texture and taste from the ponzu didn't come together for me. The beef also had a brown tint to it which signals the freshness wasn't there. 5/5 Soft Shell Crab $7.00 was probably my favorite dish from the night; it took a long to get to the table but when it finally arrived, it was nice and hot and fresh tasting. 2/5 Dynamite Roll $8.95 was probably my least enjoyed dish from this night; it was full of rice with so little fillings and the rice was so tightly packed in...I had when they make sushi like this as it's a sign of a novice. Plus the value factor was super low for this roll. 1/5 Chicken Katsu Appitizer $7.25 was the most interesting dish for the night. It came exactly the way you see it here on the photo I took with a piece missing on the end. I mean...did the server take a piece on the way to the table cause she was hungry or did the kitchen staff decide the portion was to much for the plate...I don't have a clue but maybe the restaurant can comment and clarify why we were missing a piece off the end. I don't want to die without knowing...lmao. Also...I wished they would have placed the sauce in a side sauce dish instead of putting it onto the chicken itself; the sauce wasn't homemade so not everyone likes it on top...and btw this is the only place that's put the katsu sauce on top that I've seen. 3/5 Over all nigiri sushi was ok...the portions were nice and large, but the rice wasn't prepared in the right manner; it was too acidic and quite cold. Most sushi rice is soft and warm so maybe they made too much rice from earlier in the day and they were still using the same rice for the night shift. The Amaebi Shrimp heads were also fried in a horrible way...it wan't dusted with any flour or corn starch and looked like they just threw them in there; there was no taste to it and sadly, and let down in the end. 3/5 Service was ok; the young lady who helped us kind of just disappeared towards the end of the night and another person took over, but she was definitely new as it took her some time to get through the ipad they were using to find everything which was a bit annoying. I wish my experience was better, but overall it was forgetful. If you're not well versed in sushi or can tell the quality difference between a really good place and a mediocre one, then maybe this place is ok for your tastes, but there so many things that need improving here and I hope they can get it done. read more

So, overall it's decent. They have very nice people working there and alot of choices but honestly it just wasn't as fresh as I thought it would be. And the fact that the food wasn't as fresh made it feel overpriced. Their gratuity options were somewhat ridiculous too (I couldn't believe 30 percent was an option) Would we go back and try them again..maybe but I am not so sure. I feel they need to improve the overall quality and then the 5 stars would be realistic and honestly it's only 4 stars now cause the staff was very friendly. So this is really more of a 3 star sushi spot if you base it solely on food. read more

Edit: didn't realize I reviewed here already lol anyway enjoy again! Live in this area and my wife and I wanted some sushi so we thought this place looked best and decided let's check it out! When arriving we ordered on an iPad screen and waited probably about 20-25 minutes for our order. We got a dragon roll, shrimp tempura and the beef fried rice! The portions are excellent and delicious. The second time over we ordered a Mexican roll and the spicy salmon rolls with the beef fried rice again cause of how delicious it was the time before. Unfortunately the second time the sushi wasn't as good but I think that would be up to preference of texture and what fish you actually like in your sushi rolls. Overall the restaurant being a takeout only option at the moment does offer great food and I definitely will continue to go back in the future. This is my first time trying food here. I ordered Sushi, Clear Soup and Edamame. Rainbow sushi and Stan sushi had fresh fish but nori inside was very rubbery and it spoiled the taste. My husband didn't want to eat at all. Clear soup was very salty but ok to eat. Edamame was ok, not the best or freshest one I had. With 2 rolls ordered I got only one soy sauce which was not enough. Eh, just okay. We did a pick up order so I can't speak for the dine in experience but ordered 6 rolls and was really unimpressed with three of them. Personally I feel you can't go wrong ever a sweet potato tempura roll and this roll was much more tempura than sweet potato. I literally ate one piece and didn't bother with the rest so that says a lot and was very disappointing. The other big disappointment was I added asparagus ($1) to my salmon roll and they used cucumber. Not a huge deal but if they didn't have asparagus available I wish they would have told me as I was craving a specific combo and nothing was mentioned. I've ordered through Uber eats from here many times and have always enjoyed my sushi very much. Today I decided to order and pickup myself. I saw the "half roll" option and that was such a treat! Ordered a bunch of different rolls and specifically the garlic lobster (in the aluminum in my photos) - blew me away - so so good!!! I was craving sushi after work and it was conveniently located in the plaza across of TY park. As we entered we luckily got the last seat in the house by a nice cozy corner. We ordered the steamed gyoza appetizer, salmon plate and two different rolls to share. All the sushi rolls we had was amazing and fresh but the salmon plate was the best deal by far. So much fresh fish included. The service was great and the ambiance even better. They played a reel of cute puppy, kitten and small animal videos on the TV behind the bar which was super mesmerized and entertaining. The sushi was reasonably priced considering how many rolls were included and the quality. Highly recommend a visit to Hiro Maru - we surely will be back for more! read more

Hiro Maru Sushi is clean, welcoming and friendly with service that's almost psychic. We loved our server and the atmosphere but the food just missed being exceptional. My wife's steak had awesome presentation but was a bit chewy. The vegetables it came with suffered in the presentation by being a little soggy, like they were boiled instead of stir fried. My teriyaki combo platter was entirely decent but fell short of greatness. The teriyaki salmon was dry and the roll it came with was unimaginative and bland. The potential for greatness at Hira Maru is definitely there. This is one of those places that I would gladly pay more to get more. The service is fantastic, the atmosphere is classy and cozy. The food just misses but, for the price, it still represents good value. I wanted more from Hira Maru and I'm willing to pay for it. read more

I was really looking forward to giving this place a try. Drinks: Sat = 2 for 1 sake. You cannot hate on this deal. There are about 6 options to choose from with great descriptions to help you choose a bottle perfect to your liking. I enjoyed their sake and beers most of all. Sashimi: Chef's choice 9 piece was almost inedible. We were given a selection of salmon, ahi (tuna), and white fish. The salmon was edible. The ahi was like biting into a fish popcicle. It was was so icy and thus watery. The white fish absolutely inedible, also icy and such a weird texture. I took 1 bite and coudnt stomach the rest. The slices of sashimi were also unusually thick for sashimi, not an issue, just an observation. Service: Sitting at the bar with the sushi chefs was nice. This was a great local place for sushi. There are not many places that have good sushi in the area. They have spacious seating inside and outside the restaurant. You can easily see the sushi bar in the restaurant, and you can see how fresh their sushi is! The service was great and they were very attentive if we needed anything. My friend and I got a variety of dishes. We got the tiger roll, Unagi-don, the fried gyoza, salmon sushi, and thai donut. Everything was amazing, and tasted super fresh! I would go back and try their other specialty rolls. The price is not too bad for the dishes. The tiger roll was about $12 and had about 10 pieces, but the overall dish was a little larger than expected which was very good. I hope to come back to this place and try their other specialty rolls or their sushi boat if I am with a large group. read more

I've been craving sushi for weeks and finally decided to make an order on ubereats one night. The reviews here are good and positive so I was excited and ordered the triple fantasy, surf and turf and spicy edamame. After a long wait, 1.5hrs, the food showed up and the disappointment began. The triple fantasy was more like a nightmare. Smelled fishy and tasted like old fish. Completely inedible, all around the worst sushi I've ever had. Straight to the trash. The surf and turf wasn't far behind, just not good. This is not how sushi is supposed to taste. The spicy edamame was fairly good, hence the two stars otherwise this would have been a one star review. Coming from CA maybe I have unrealistic of what sushi is supposed to taste like but this meal was absolutely terrible. read more

The rainbow plate and black dragon roll were really good but the Naruto roll appetizer was not my favorite. The Naruto roll was soaked in soy sauce and had bean sprouts on them. Naruto rolls are usually light and crisp, but this one was heavy, soggy, and salty. Green tea crepe cake was good too, but needed a little more sugar (they gave vanilla ice cream on the side though). Overall not a bad experience, some dishes just could be tweaked. Update: Awesome customer service. I usually fear complaining about food in restaurants, but the owner said they would have fixed the problem with the Natuto roll. I really appreciate that. I really wanted to love Hiro.. but sad to say that I don't. I decided to come based on the many decent reviews and was excited to come here on a Saturday night. I walked in and the place was dead, which isn't a tell tale sign that it was going to be as good as I anticipated it to be. I sat down with my party and opened the menu and I was impressed by the extensive sushi menu, they have a great selection of various rolls for those who are adventurous sushi eaters. I'm a pretty simple gal, I love my spicy tuna roll. So my party ordered the shrimp shumai as an appetizer and the volcano roll; JB roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll with chicken pad thai to share. So I was immediately put off by the chop sticks, I may be a picky sushi eater but I loathe the fact that the chop sticks are washed and reused. Plus they are heavy on my hands, and too long. But it wasn't a big deal, just something I didn't like. I asked for regular chopsticks and I immediately realized that these are the cheap kind. The wood came off and stabbed me in the finger so I went back to the plastic chopsticks because I didn't feel like getting a wood burn on my fingers to eat my sushi. Like I said this is just me being a picky sushi eater. I digress, so we got the shumai and although they were good, it wasn't a big enough portion - they tasted frozen and reheated rather than freshly cooked. The spicy mayo was outrageous though! Our rolls came and the first thing I noticed was the abnormal amount of rice in all of the rolls. Why so much rice? I could barely taste what was inside each roll because the amount of rice that was put in. The spicy tuna was okay, the tuna was fresh but it was sliced tuna rather than mixed, the JB roll was good, not great. My sister enjoyed her volcano roll and the crab mix on top was cooked fresh. The volcano roll had a very pretty presentation (see pic below). Sad to say that the pad thai was terrible. It seemed as if the peanut sauce they cooked it in went bad or they added an ingredient in it that left a terrible after taste. It didn't taste sour but it wasn't good, at all. I enjoyed the decor, it was a bit too dark, and the service was okay. For a restaurant that was dead we had to call out the waiter a few times, and our drinks were empty for the remainder of the night. I wasn't blown away - I'm not so sure I would come back unless it was a last option for me. I understand the appeal but I wasn't impressed. I'm gonna take a pass on this place. read more

I came a bit earlier than the rush - but the wait staff was attentive and they seemed to want to make sure I had a good experience as well as a good meal. They switched to an all online, take out only platform. It's fine, unless you need to change something or ask a question then, you can't get anyone on the phone. In any case, the food is very fresh and the menu is quite extensive. My favorite by far, is the ah tuna block. It's crispy rice, thinly sliced avocado and spicy tuna drizzled with eel sauce.
