So happy to have found a fresh sushi place near me. We were greeted by the sweetest hostess Annie and had a great view of the sushi makers doing their magic. We couldn't decide between the salmon or tuna plate so they gave us a half half $24 and it came with miso soup, also we had the Naruto maki, what I love is that it's truly thinly peeled cucumber. For a Saturday night in a plaza I was surprised how many people were there. It had a date or family feel to it, round tables, booths, dark. They also had about 5 seats at the bar where you could watch your sushi be made or watch tv. read more

Beware! The worst sushi I've ever had. Literally started gagging after a few bites and I'm so hungry right now, but this is inedible. TERRIBLE ATTENTION. I went with my husband and they just pointed my table then they just ignored us all the time. They were distracted by a "good costumer"(I mean $$$$$$$$$). Also, they don't have appetizers!! We went to other CHEAPER places and they give you salad or miso with your meal, better sushi, and better attention. The bathroom is unisex, and a little confused. This place DEFINITELY hits the spot for strong sushi cravings, especially if you're craving a particular fish! My honey and I saw that they had a salmon platter through the Yelp photos, and we love salmon. Love it, love it, love it! So much, we even had the salmon usuzukuri (a cold appetizer of thinly sliced salmon topped with scallions and served with a ponzu dipping sauce) to start. I'm pretty sure we had our full fix of omega-3 fatty acids! The appetizer was the bomb! I've never had salmon sliced so thinly before. The ponzu sauce is a definite good pairing, which I'm not too accustomed to because I'm so used to soy sauce with sashimi slices. At this point, we were still not tired of salmon. We wanted more! We had the salmon platter (it's less than $20 for everything salmon), which included a salmon roll (8 pieces, had avocado and cucumber as well), 6 slices of salmon sashimi, a spicy salmon sashimi salad, and 3 salmon nigiri pieces. Definitely a bang for your buck kind of a steal here! We enjoyed salmon in 4 ways, well, 5 if you include the appetizer. And just to mention, the quality of the fish was very good. I was able to enjoy some bites without soy sauce and I was able to cut some pieces through with just my chopsticks. That's how good it was! I'd been meaning to try this place for quite some time. I came here last night for dinner and found the place nearly empty. Sitting at the sushi bar I signalled the waitress when I was ready to order. (by this time, no one else was dining in the restaurant). She looked at me with disdain. Someone came up afterward and said that he will take my order since she doesn't like to take orders. I tried the: Vegetable salad with ginger dressing. The dressing had been soaked into the wilted iceberg lettuce- as if sat that way in the fridge all day Shrimp shumai- 6 tiny pieces that tasted as if they had been reheated a few times too many Rainbow plate-a rainbow roll with 5 pieces sushi. The roll was mostly rice- about 3x the normal amount of rice on a rainbow roll. The only time I have seen this before was at a cheap chinese buffet. The ginger was stringy and dangling off of the plate. Some of it had touched the counter (and what other surfaces?) When I wanted the check I had to loudly ask for it, since there the people working there were too busy chatting with each other. I tried this place for lunch yesterday because I ran out of food to bring to work. It was recommended by some of my colleagues and it sounded pretty good. I ordered my standard two JB rolls to go. I was shocked by the price of over $15! That sounded very high for two basic rolls. However, when I opened the box I saw the reason for the price. The rolls were huge! I'll get one next time. The sushi itself was very good. The salmon was very fresh. You'll see me check in here again some time. This place is my local sushi spot. It also goes by Wan's Sushi House, so if you see reviews for that as well don't get confused. I'm there about once a week (sometimes twice lol) and I receive friendly, fast service every time. It's nice to be a recognized regular somewhere and have the staff always stop by to say hello and make sure I'm well taken care of. Food recommendations - Everything is great and they have extremely cheap sunset (early bird) specials. I've tried every single roll they offer at this point - probably my favorite Volcano Roll in the area, the Mango Tango is great, the Birthday Roll has me reconsidering my personal ban on eel...damn now I'm hungry. This place just became my new favorite spot for sushi. When you walk in, it feels nice and homey. The rolls are relatively cheaper than other Japanese restaurants. The quality is superb-- all the ingredients just taste better from the fresh fish to the rice. The sushi rice was perfectly made- sticky and didn't fall apart and not too much vinegar. We have the dynamite roll, volcano roll, and the soft shell crab roll. I loved the conch topping on the volcano roll. This place will definitely be my new sushi dining/take out spot. read more

Great customer service, cozy hidden location near Shenanigans but not amazing sushi. Came here because of the 4 star rating and was thrilled to find how close to home Hiro Maru is. Our server sat and took our orders right away...I asked what were the most popular or favorite rolls and ordered: Red Dragon, Beauty & the Beast roll & Chicken Pad Thai to test their Thai skills (why not). For being the "most popular rolls" I felt both rolls were average, kind of boring with waaaay too much rice rolled into it making it it more rice than filling or topping. The pad thai was the right texture for the noodles, right chicken, egg, peanut ratio to noodles but the flavor wasnt there. This is definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Miami! There are too many thing I would like to recommend. They have very fresh sashimi. Now I'm pregnant and I have gestational diabetes. I'm not allowed to eat any raw fish and any sugar and too much starch. (My hubby love them) I start exploring their cooked menu. Highly recommend the chunchy roll. There's no rice inside. You can change the rice in the salmon skin hand roll as well. It could be very good diet if you want to keep your shape. The grilled squid is very delicious too. The service there is excellent. Spotted this hidden gem in Hollywood tonight, everything was simply amazing! The service was like no other, very friendly attentive staff. The sushi was fresh and flavorful! I had a cucumber tuna roll that was to die for (I literally almost ordered another one), calamari was ok a little too crispy, the miso was was the best I've ever had, and the banana tempera was just the cherry on top. I have been searching for a place for months since i moved here and FINALLY! the rolls are HUGE and FAT and the prices are cheaper! So fresh, made to perfection. Not sure about all the great reviews. Maybe people don't have much knowledge of Japanese food. I was taken to this restaurant by a friend of mine. He told me I had to go because is a real Japanese restaurant. Well, is not Japanese. We ordered some rolls and some hot food. The rice used for the rolls doesn't look and taste like Japanese rice. I mean the rice used for sushi, it looks different from what we Japanese are used. The rice seasoning was very strange something definitely a person that is used to eat sushi for many years can understand is not the proper seasoning. The fish didn't really look like and taste like the fish for sushi has to taste and look. The hot section had a strange taste. A taste that I can compare to Chinese or Thai food. Definitely, not Japanese. Very different from Japanese flavor. read more
