OMG if you are visiting Portland go eat at this buffet. If you are a sushi lover this place is for YOU!! So many options. Also have fresh seafood. Fried rice, desserts, crab, the options are plentiful and abundant. Definitely a place for big groups. Definitely bring your appetite!!! Staff super nice and friendly.

Best buffet we've experienced so far in Beaverton! Pro: -Attentive, friendly staff -Generous portions that are replenished even near closing time -Love their crab legs & honey walnut shrimp Con: -Their crab legs and butter can get a bit salty -Hot, crowded and noisy in the seating area as dining is designated to one side of the restaurant

Environment: it was clean and spacious. They made the restaurant very bright which was nice (compared to the former place which was a bar/pub). Staff: very friendly and attentive. When we were low on napkins and hot water, she refilled it very quickly. She also cleaned up our finished plates at a great pace, too even though it was busy. Food: we went during a weekday when they opened. We were afraid that we would get leftover foods but overall, the foods I ate were fresh and piping hot. I ate a lot of sushi, seafood, and veggies. The fried foods were overall good, especially their fried fish. Those who like seafood would enjoy this place because aside from fried seafood, they also had steamed and baked. I liked their muscles. It was tender and no sand. The clams were my least favorite as they were super tiny and it felt like I was chewing gum. Veggies were fine and had a good variety. Sushi's rice was surpassingly not bad as sushi at buffets are usually hard and dry but this was fine and bite sized so I didn't feel full after eating the rolls. The ice cream had a nice chocolate flavor and the oranges were juicy and sweet. I know that not a lot of people enjoyed it but it was good when I went and everything these days are expensive. For $20, there's a good variety of foods that I personally enjoyed. Also for birthday, you eat free on the exact day with the purchase of two other adults.

Was able to beat the crowd on the weekend and got to finally check this spot out. Inside is big and open with high ceiling, pretty decors, and ton of seatings. I like the straightforward layout of the buffet lines. They also have so many variety of food and options to choose from: sushi, Chinese, Korean etc. Very surprised by the abundance of seafood. Some items were better than others. I'd recommend their chicken and beef, both options were tender. The fried items were best when they came out fresh, of course. Desserts looked meh at first but actually were delicious! The ice cream and mousse cups were our faves. For the price, diversity of options, service, and quality, this was a very good and fun dining spot.

We ended up here recently as the other place we wanted to go was not open. The interior is spacious and clean. I have not been to a buffet in Oregon for awhile now. If you are a seafood lover, you would like it as they have plenty offerings. They didn't have much of other food selection. The items I did try were just ok.

My husband and I couldn't decide what to eat so we came here for the variety and never tried it for lunch on a weekday. We came around 1:30 on a Tuesday and I was surprised it was still busy. The place always look neat and clean especially for a Buffet. The waiter was very attentive. In fact all the staff is very friendly. The varitey of the food line is very typical of what you would see at any buffet but their food is actually good. It has flavor and not everything tastes the same. I have to deduct a star because they didn't have my salt and pepper shrimp. But it was actually good and we left satisfied. The desserts were actually good too.

If you love crab legs, this is the place for you. Come hungry. You'll want to eat three plates. The flavors are amazing. Always restocking. Super friendly staff very clean. Lots of seats. Call for reservation.

Before my Portland trip, I saw the Instagram reels for this place and a friend that moved to Portland also sent me info. about Hiyaku Buffet, she mentioned that she went with her family and they all enjoyed it. After checking out the Yelp page, I decided to go here for dinner and my friend joined too! Nice and very new Buffet just opened up a few months ago, reminds me of Vegas but I have to get it in my head that we are in Portland. The prices are not bad for dinner, $27.99 during midweek, Weekends are $29.99 and weekday lunch is cheaper @ $19.99 but just one seafood item. For the price, there's a huge selection of everything ( Hot foods, grill items, sushi, ribs, dim sum, desserts, and nice variety of seafoods including shrimps, calamari, snow crab legs and oysters, I already had crab legs on my mind and plans to attack that first. The only junk thing about the crab legs , serve chilled. There is no butter, which I asked the waitress, she was nice to bring me some. I rather have boiled/hot crab legs but this is fine. The crab legs goes fast but they do refill them. I try to avoid buffets, tend to over-indulge but why not we are on vacation?! I didn't get to try most of the selection on the buffet line , but enjoyed the items that I got. We all enjoyed our buffet meal. They were very busy on a Thursday night, every table was taken. The place was nice, spacious, but loud. Service was great despite how busy they are, seem like they are short staff but wait staff are trying their best! & for desserts, I really enjoyed the cups of ice cream, from the fridge. I tried the strawberry, orange, and vanilla, I like to mix vanilla with the other flavors, what a refreshing treat to melt down all the food I just ate, hehe. There's a birthday special promotion, free meal with 2 paying adults on day of your birthday. Keep in mind, drinks ( tea, soft drinks) are not included in the buffet price. Overall, you either love it or you don't but for me and the other half, we would go back when we visit again especially for the crab legs, can't go wrong with that!! Oh I've seen the Instagram reels & Korean Momma approves and the ribs which the other half tried, he says its good & falls of the bone! Enjoy & Happy Eating, this is what we all love to do, Foodies!!

In most circumstances, I avoid buffets. Especially Chinese buffets with "sushi," but this place is spectacular. It's clean, open, with a lot of seating. The seating is separated from the food area, which is a bit different than the Vegas buffets I'm used to. It's a walk to get to certain foods, but you're gonna need it! Note that lunch is $19.99/person and does not have crab legs - those are for dinner. All of the food, especially the peanut butter chicken (don't skip!), teriyaki chicken skewers, and select sushi rolls were superb. In general, everything was great. The dessert leaves a bit to be desired, but there's individual ice creams. Those are good. Our server was a bit off, which is the only reason for 4 stars. They were nice enough, but looked a bit like they rolled out of bed, were scattered and overly talkative. We'll be back!

    More sushi.

Pretty expensive for a kind of meh experience. Disclaimer: I must say I don't like seafood or sushi but my husband and daughters love it so I went for them. We arrived on the earlier side for dinner hoping to avoid the rush. The parking lot was still packed (good because the food would be fresh and quickly replenished. Seafood sitting out makes me nervous.) but no line of people. We only waited a couple minutes to be seated. Sweet spot for sure as there was a line out the door and around the building when we left. The food was only ok. I was hoping for more Chinese or stir fry dishes. There was lots of sushi, lots of seafood, and several deep fried things I couldn't identify. There are signs but most of them were clearly wrong so I had to guess what I was dishing up. If you can get the fried stuff when it's fresh it's way better. But anything deep fried that's been sitting out gets gross fast. My family liked their sushi but said they get better quality for less at their favorite sushi places. The desserts were overly sweet and artificial tasting. Honestly the best dessert was the little individual frozen ice creams. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and the inside is very modern looking. It was shocking to know it use to be an old pizza place with a giant play area that always smelled of dirty socks. Not sure we will be back.

I'm gonna start with this: I'm not a huge buffet fan. So take that into consideration. The food was slightly better than most buffets like this. Slightly. I tried almost everything but went back for the salmon sashimi & the kalbi beef. Specifically the salmon sashimi, not any of the other salmon options because the sashimi most closely resembled salmon belly, which I love. I went back for the kalbi because that's always one of my favorites, but it did end up being a little salty. I should've grabbed some rice but I didn't want to fill up on it! Our server was awesome. She took great care of us and was super nice. Loved chatting it up with her! The space itself is a little overwhelming. It was super crowded and we were sat in their giant room with giant ceilings. It was loud and boisterous. I personally didn't mind too much, but just a heads up. Can be overstimulating.

Sushi, green beans, buns, gypza, tempura

Drove past this place a few days ago and saw a line out the door and knew I had to try. I went to lunch which was very reasonable at $20.00. It had been a while since I had gone to a buffet and can't deny that this place was super nice, everything felt clean and gorgeous sitting areas. Much bigger than I had anticipated from the exterior. I had a little bit of everything. There were definitely some stand outs. I'll start with the one downside was the sushi. I dont know if I just had a bad day but some of it just didnt taste very fresh. So after trying some I skipped it and stuck with the hot food. And wow! I was in heaven. Their Katsu, fried fish, tempura were superb. Their buns and dumplings. I could eat a plate of just gyoza and green beans! And their dessert selection was great some of the cakes a little dry but ehh not the worst. Their many ice-cream were created as well. The staff was super attentive taking plates pretty quickly once set aside and just kind. Ill definitely try them again at that good price point.

The first time I drove past this place at night, I noticed the parking lot was full (opening night). The second drive-by noticed, wow there's a lot of people in the dining area. Again the lot was full. Third time, still full, but said OK I gotta check it out! Well, after researching online, I decided "Great, it's new! And I'm doin' the $19.99 weekday lunch buffet!" And why the hell not! Actually, work decided, let's do a team lunch here. So, perfect! Here's a bit more about this new buffet: # Parking # Plenty of spots, so issues. Although you may park farther and deal with a lot of folks already waiting in line if you arrive during the typical lunch rush or dinner hours. # Buffet Stations # LOTS to choose! From one end they have the seafood or Korean section with shrimp and clams. Kim chi and seafood salad mixes. Near the middle was more Japanese nigiri and various types of sushi. And more towards the right is where the Chinese style noodles, steamed fish, steamed veggies, and buns were. Further in the back were the soups, dessert pastries, and an ice cream fridge. I practically took one of each item and was satisfied with majority of what i tried. Especially loved the crispy wings! # Dining Area & Service # Plenty to small tables, and long tables for larger groups. They even have booths along the sides. We were seated in the large dining hall, so I felt there was enough spacing between tables even with heavy foot traffic. As for our waiter, he did a great job refilling our water cups and drinks, and more importantly taking our used plates away. # Final Verdict & a Pro Tip # I'm willing to do lunch here again, simply because of price! With how much food costs nowadays, this buffet was worth it imo. Show up right when they open at 11am, and you'll pick at the good stuff ready to be consumed. Their chicken and pork items were tender and their nigiri was clean! Truly a three-star kind of place, but I'll be generous about it. Minus one star for the sushi that contained cream cheese. It's unnecessary but I understand the target audience. Enjoy!

There are booths where you order food to come cooked, and then the hot pot tables where you order the ingredients and cook them yourself. It's very interactive, and they have plenty of meats, vegetables, tofu, dumplings and noodles. You can choose the broth you want at the beginning and they'll bring out the pot. Each pot is split in 2, so you order one regular broth and then a spicy broth. They also have a veggie broth, which I really enjoy. You can grab things from the salad bar, and they have different sauces/oils you can take and add to your soup. You're able to really customize the experience. It's a fun little experiment you get to do with your friends and family. The space itself is busy with customers walking around and staff brining drinks and food, but it's not crazy. We joke that the steam from the soup is a nice facial treatment. Lol. You can end the night with an ice cream cone and lollipop in the waiting room. I've been a few times, and I will say the first time is overwhelming with trying to figure out what to do, but after that you get more confident and interested in curating a soup that's to your taste.

Once we were seated though, things went downhill. Only one person out of our four person table had done hot pot before, the rest of us were clueless. The server didn't bother to ask if we understood how to order and were super unhelpful every time we asked a question, kind of waving us off. Apparently you place an order and have to wait 20 minutes before you can place another order? What? I've been to kbbq plenty of times and have never been met with this delay. We got their original soup base and curry base. Both were mid. Not very flavorful until the very very end when we had finished cooking and were ready to leave. Maybe eating boiled meat just isn't for me, but I feel like everything was pretty bland and tasteless. The best part of the meal was the ice cream we grabbed on the way out imo. They gave us $20 off coupons randomly, said we couldn't use them that night. Probably a ploy to get us to go back, but not even with a discount like that would I go back. Straight to the trash. Save yourself and go to kbbq or the Asian buffet that's 10 min away. Disappointing night out with the fam.

The shop was quiet with some customers picking up to go orders. We went to the counter and ordered two non-veg (chicken) thali plates, a mango lassi and a chai masala. I also asked to confirm that they don't have their buffet anymore. While we were waiting, we noticed that most of the tables were dirty with food smudges and left over trash presumably from the day before since it had just opened. I tried to clean our table with paper napkins and water with little effect. So we decided to just deal with it. My husband went to the restroom to wash his hands and told me the restroom was in need of cleaning as well. As our food came. We noticed the sides on the thali plates were different too. They used to have two side dishes with cucumber, tomato, onion and crackers. The new plates were more plain, not bad, but not the same variety. The food tasted pretty good, I noticed the curries were spicer as well. That makes us wonder if there was a change of ownership/management once Desi Bites moved. It's such a shame the Desi Bites we remembered is gone..

The staff was great- busy with dinner service but still providing plenty of attention. We had a table of six upstairs which I recommend for a nice view even if you aren't seated at a window table. Noise level is near perfect- buzzy but no one needed to shout for normal conversation and that's with a pretty much full house. We may have skipped this place for years but clearly many people don't- crowded and we used valet parking because their parking lot was full. They don't charge but as downtown city people we tip. And, of course the food- perfectly fine, ample menu with lots of choice, fish forward but a couple of meat choices for silly people who avoid fish, shell fish. Everyone cleaned their plates except me, the remains of my crab/ shrimp salad, under $40.00, loaded with crab and shrimp came home for in a box for a more than ample lunch. And, boy do I love a restaurant that boxes up the food rather than dumps a take-out container for me to do it. Really nice classy touch. I rate the food as well executed with a full range of standard choices, nothing ground breaking but good solid plates. This is certainly the place for entertaining a party- everyone will find a sweet spot on the menu in a casual but still feels like a treat meal out. So there is clearly a reason that people love this place.
