If you're craving an Asian buffet with sushi this place is your stop. We've come here for dinner a few times now and we leave feeling satisfied and obviously full. Value is also amazing for all the fish and meat served inside. It does get crowded and the raw salmon sashimi is always the first to disappear but when it comes out everyone makes a rush for it. Dined in on a Sunday a little after they opened. Overall, considering the limited amount of buffets around the Portland metro area, Hiyaku is not too bad at all. Speaking from the context of asian buffet food quality, the flavor of the food wasn't bad at all. I honestly had no expectations on this aspect but it pleasantly surprised me. The sushi honestly was the one that surprised me the most. Sushi is typically the weak link in a lot of asian buffets but I surprisingly like the sushi here. The rice was not hard at all and the flavor was pretty good. I will say though that the selection they offer is a bit limited compared to a lot of other buffets I have been to. But this can be a good thing too tbh as they can focus more on the quality of what they put out compared to quantity. Overall I would say that at least 1/3 of the food will be seafood. The interior of this buffet is very appealing. It's by all means no Vegas status buffet, but man the ambience and ceiling art was very appealing. There is plenty of seating as well. The service was nice too. They were quick with the seating and checked up on us an appropriate enough of times. expect to pay around $27-30 depending on what days and times you go. We waited a couple weeks after it opened to go and let the crowds die down and bugs get worked out. We dropped in with 6 people, just before 5p and the timing was good on a Friday. We beat the rush! We were not greeted on entry, and it was confusing to not just us but others on what to do next. One employee was just sitting on their rear behind the desk on her phone while the other just waited for interaction from customers. This needs to be fixed period. You front door is the gateway for return customers. The place was busy, the tables spacing is sh!t. I understand trying to maximize space, but it was hands down ridiculous. Chairs between tables, made it hard to get out, banging into other customers just happened, this is just not a good experience. Next time we will only get a booth even if we need to wait. Another this needs to be fixed. The buffet was fantastic, excellent selection of food including sushi and sashimi down to soup and desserts. The staff kept the food flowing and I never saw anything out. The freshness was great for a buffet. This helps elevate my experience, but they need to work on front end and table spacing. The table service was fantastic, they kept the empty plates off the table, filled water, brought drinks and anything we needed. There was no delay when we asked for the check either. Expand this service to the front end and we have a winner. I know the place is new, and hopefully the owners are listening to the problems. This is a different food experience than normal suburban restaurants. It's a new space that would fit well in Las Vegas. The space is perfect for the massive flow of people and the service is excellent. Our waiter was constantly asking us if we needed anything and clearing away dishes that we had finished. There's a wide range of options available to taste, but there wasn't any one dish that has me coming back for more. Bland. Lunch was filled up with diners by 11:45 and a line out of the door. Seating is a bit tight between tables and the walkway is awkward to navigate since it is narrow. They also have crab in the evenings and on weekends... but their snow crab is extremely salty so I hope they fix that in the future. read more

More on volume rather than quality. The buffet layout is open and I didn't feel cramped at all. There's also a desert area tucked behind the front counter and a refrigerator that has different flavors of ice cream to choose from. We barely avoided the large rush of people that soon formed behind us. After 1hr of eating, the line was still growing and reached to the end of the building. This can be an issue especially if it's raining outside. Overall we had a great experience. The hot foods (try the ribs- soft and delicious) were a delight and they also have fruit for those who want to have something to wash down after the main meal. The restaurant is huge with a large outdoor parking lot. The inside is really nice, bright, and open. Lots of staff. We came here for the lunch buffet at $19.99 per person. Good deal for AYCE. But to be honest, the reviews are overhyped. The food is just not good. The sushi is equivalent to the sushi you'd find in grocery stores. The baos were so stuck to the wrappers. The octopus looked appealing but super chewy. I had high hopes for this place but it was just subpar. I'd still prefer to get a meal I'd enjoy for $19.99 than come back. We were excited to try this new buffet in Beaverton since there really aren't many buffet options left after so many closed down. We arrived around 5-ish on a weekday and got seated within about 10 minutes. One thing I really appreciated is that they'll seat you even if your whole party hasn't arrived yet -- a small thing, but super convenient. Food: The sushi and sashimi were surprisingly high quality, especially for a buffet. The salmon sashimi (always the first to disappear) gets refilled quickly, which was great to see. Moving to the hot foods -- usually the Chinese dishes at buffets are kind of a miss, but here they were actually really good. And they even have kalbi! When we left around 6:30, there was a line out the door. So definitely plan accordingly if you're going during peak hours! Overall, we left happy and impressed. This buffet was approved by my Asian parents and that says a lot considering they frequent all of the buffets in Vegas and California casinos. Granted this is not a Vegas style buffet, so do lower your expectations for the price point of $29.99 (Fri-Sun), but Hiyaku does try to give off Bellagio decor vibes in their main dining room, complete with a giant screen, currently displaying a festive Christmas background. Restaurant is clean, servers are attentive, and food selection is not bad at all! You won't find chicken tenders, pizza, and fries here- this buffet truly caters to the Asian palette as they serve a galore of sushi, seafood dishes including crawfish boil and crabs 2 different ways (steamed/seasoned and fried), LA Galbi, Asian style ribs, and plenty of other Asian staples (steamed buns, fried rice, chow mein, etc). Although walking through the buffet, their selection isn't massive, what they do have, they do a good job at it. 2 things that we noticed that could be improved though: 1. Kitchen area is open, please make sure your cooks/food handlers are handling food appropriately. Multiple people noticed a cooked calamari tray ready to be placed in the warmer to be served, wheeled over on top of a closed trash can. Unsanitary without a doubt. They then grabbed an uncooked tray of calamari and placed it on top of the empty cooked tray they had pulled from the warmer - again contamination unless they plan on washing the bottom tray. It was just a yikes moment all together. 2. I get Oregon water tastes great- but at the price point you're charging, having filtered water would be nicer than straight sink water. For whatever reason, the minerals the night we were there in the water were bold and apparent. Hiyaku, welcome to Beaverton! Service was good, plates that we didn't need were taken away very quickly, so we can enjoy more food on a Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed looking out thru the window and the booth seat was comfortable. Pineapple, cantaloupe slices, gailan and mushrooms were delicious and we went back for more. It was fun and relaxing removing the crab shells. There were many sushi and dessert options but it wasn't Todai quality. Sweet and sour soup is not as delicious as ding dai fung's. There wasn't too many food options that was appetizing for us to try or come back for more. We went again today at around 11:30 and once again there was no peanut chicken. Also many of the other items were very poor quality. Orange chicken was inedible due to being tough and very little source. Many of the items on the buffet looked like they were reheated from yesterdays leftovers. Some of the fruit offerings were also poor quality. Grapes that were half rotten. The standards are slowly going downhill here. When they first opened it was very good, but they have been unable to maintain the quality. I don't eat sushi so I can't comment on that, but it looked nice visually. I think we won't be going back for a while but we hope that they might read these comments and make some changes for the better. Empty plate were cleared immediately, and our drinks never went below half without immediately getting refilled, seriously impressive for a buffet spot. Only downside I noticed was the kitchen wasn't keeping up with the demand on certain items, and trays were left empty for a while. Salmon nigiri/Sashimi, baked oysters, crab legs were popular and went fast. My suggestion is to go early. Went on a thursday night and the experience was great! Upon arrival we were greeted and seated right away. The staff here are so helpful and great to talk to. It seems that they love working here and enjoying working with one another which really sets a great mood in the restaurant. The food was amazing! I loved the salmon and saba nigiri the most. I also loved the variety of choices they offer. There were so many things that I haven't tried because I got full. The restaurant is well kept and organized. To start off, the place is nice and clean (given it's newly opened). But the seating can be a little claustrophobic and feels like a middle school cafeteria. The decor and whatnot make it seem more modern and somewhat "luxurious". The service is pretty good. Our table didn't get squished with empty plates. The food is not something I would say that I get excited for. You can eat and enjoy but it can get boring in the palate fast if you're particular in what you eat. The all you can eat aspect is what really drives the customers obviously. Given there are somewhat of a good selection I think the price matches its output. The Hot foods were mostly lukewarm at best. I'm sure they weren't holding proper temperature on the line. The sushi looked good, but needed better labeling. The crab was very salty, and the meat was stringy. The fried shrimp was mushy on the inside. I spit it out. The green tea was disgusting and extremely disappointing. My family loves seafood, especially Crab and Sushi. We haven't gone out for seafood recently, and even buying seafood from the market has become prohibitively expensive. Fortunately, this new restaurant opened near us that solves a couple challenges: It's reasonable (given the cost of seafood) and it provides an incredibly broad selection of seafood we can enjoy! We went on a Sunday afternoon, after a long workout so we were hungry. Although there was about a 30 minute wait it was worth it. There was both a huge hot seafood and a cold seafood section with fish, crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, and oysters. The sushi and sashimi were outstanding, especially the salmon! They had some chicken, fish beef and pork dishes, and what surprised me is how tender and tasty the beef ribs were. Rounding out the buffet was several soups (we opted to share a small bowl of hot sour soup), fruit, small pastries, and many cold and frozen desserts. Overall - It's great to have another buffet option in the Portland/Beaverton area, but my experience wasn't impressive enough for me to make the drive from the east side. Location - It's on the edge of Beaverton, just a few minutes off HWY 26. They do have a private parking lot, but it was full lot a few weeks after their grand opening. It almost felt like navigating a smaller Costco parking lot. Food - They offer a variety of sushi options with flavors you'd expect from a typical buffet. There are also some Chinese-style vegetables and meats. If you're looking for a true mix of Chinese and American dishes, this probably isn't the best place. Experience - Once you walk in, the place looks great. I wouldn't call it an exact comparison, but it does give off a Vegas buffet vibe. What really stood out to me, though, was the layout. The food wasn't clearly sectioned, like one area for sushi and another for meats. Instead, it was one long, continuous line. This was a big shortfall for me. If you wanted sushi near the start of the line, you had to wait it out, while the end often had gaps with no one in front. You were almost better off grabbing whatever was available there instead. On top of that, if you're seated in the smaller room designed for larger groups, it's clear they tried to fit in as many long tables as possible. There isn't much space between them, and when it's busy, getting out feels almost like trying to exit a booth. If you're seated at the end near the wall, everyone else has to stand up for you to leave, which gets frustrating quickly. read more

We enjoyed this AYCE buffet, the crab boil, the sushi, the hot and sour soup were great. The service is a bit slow for drinks/utensils/more water but the food is fantastic. The dessert bar is excellent as well. They seem organized in the hot food area. While it can get extremely busy since it's a new spot, just have patience and you will enjoy yourself.
