Absolutely love this place. Came here plenty of times but I finally got the chance to review this great place. My father in law loves to make these types of dishes. You can get these authentic dishes anywhere in hongkong, but it's hard to find a solid Hong Kong style cafe in the states. This place knocks it out of the park with all of their different types of dishes. The service is also great as well. The food is decent for SI (limited choices) compared to other boroughs, a bit pricier but their quality seems decent. Their lemon tea and HK milk tea is pretty authentic. A friend recommend HKS kitchen to us and I came for a quick lunch with my family on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived around 12:30pm and got seated right away. We ordered the baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce, satay beef with cheesy Raman, satay beef bun and Hong Kong style lava French toast. The baked pork chop rice was flavorful with egg fried rice at the bottom. They used a very nice piece of pork chop which was juicy and tender with minimal fat (I've had some where almost half of the pork chop is a chunk of fat where there's nothing much to eat unless you just like to eat a solid piece of fat). The satay beef cheesy noodles tasted very similar to the ones I've had in Hong Kong. The cheese wasn't too overpowering where you'll feel very heavy after eating it. The satay sauce has a very aromatic peanut flavor which balanced very well with mixed with the cheesy sauce. The Ramen was perfectly cooked to al dente. The Hong Kong style French toast was everyone's favorite. The thickness of the toast was perfect with edge was still crispy when it came out and soft on the inside. There was an explosion of flavors from the savory salted egg yolk paste on the inside and the sweet condensed milk and butter on the outside. The flavors and texture of this dish were very well balanced and executed. Finally, I ordered a Hong Kong style milk tea to try and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It was smooth and had a very strong tea flavor with their own house tea blend. I ordered it hot so was able to add the sugar according to my liking. It's definitely a legit cup of milk tea. Overall, the food was solid and I found it even better than a lot of Hong Kong style cafes in Manhattan. The staffs were friendly and attentive and service was fast. Great Hong Kong style cafe. Low prices. Friendly service. The flavors taste just like what you would find at a cha chan teng in Hong Kong. Highly recommend their borscht soup, cheesy baked rice/spaghetti dishes, and eggplant diced chicken with salted fish. If going on a Saturday, suggest going around 11:30am, even though the listed opening time is 11am, their front door wasn't open till 11:15am and kitchen wasn't ready till 11:30am. I came to this resturant a couple of weeks ago, just one word to describe this resturant tacky. First the ambiance is awful when I first was seated at my table, I stepped onto a piece of food left onto the floor. The tables were sticky and unclean. The server was moody, only saying a quick "Hello" before running into the kitchen leaving me unattended for 10 minutes. After getting my order in, the food was mediocre at best. Had this place booked marked for a while since I love my hk food. Came around 3pm and it wasn't busy there was plenty of street parking available. I loved that they play the old school hk songs I grew up listening to. The staff was friendly although they don't bring you water or tea upon seating, their borscht and hk milk tea was on point. I ordered the fish filet with corn over rice and I thought it was just okay, I normally get this baked near my house for $11 and their menu was a little confusing and I think the price for it baked might have been $16-$20 which I couldn't justify. My friend ordered baked curry beef brisket and he enjoyed it, I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese curry and it was a tad bit thick for my liking. They deliver to the pick up spots in Queens and Long Island on Saturdays; but will door to door with a minimum of $100. My math obvious isn't too good: thought it was over $100 (ok forgot to count my fingers ...) I would have ordered two fish balls were I calculated. But they're kind enough to do it. Their food is above average. If it's not this far, I probably will go or order again. The fishball is my fave. The meat dishes are good but I didn't have much appetite - when I placed the order, I just got out of the swimming pool, done my 1,000 yard, can eat a whole pig at that movement. What a gem! Hong Kong flavors through traditional dishes as well as street style dishes with western twists. Our traditional dish was spicy Singapore noodles. Perfect level of spiciness and salt. Great balance and amount of various many ingredients gave it great texture and range of flavors. The dish with a twist was a creamy tomato sauce with crispy chicken over spaghetti with melted cheese on top. It was a big portion, lots of chicken, and it definitely made to order. Spaghetti was al dente, every piece of chicken was tender but also a crunchy bite to it. The cream sauce could have made everything soggy but it was perfect. For dessert we had a plain pineapple bun - very traditional - and the twist? A slice of cheese in the middle. What a fun combination! It is a causal family-friendly spot with a homey feel. This is closest to authentic Chinese food I've found on Staten Island so far. It's HK cafe style food, my favorite! I ordered from GrubHub and got two rice plates - Bittermelon with chicken and Peking Style pork chops (they call it Kyoto style on the menu which is a direct translation from Cantonese). The pork chops were a tad soggy by the time they made it to my door, but the flavor was still good. The bittermelon with chicken made me miss my mom because it tasted like home. I am giving 4 stars in comparison to most "Chinese" food places on the island -- which are okay when you are craving Americanized food in the form of mystery sweet or mystery brown sauce over meat and strangely yellow fried rice.
