some of the best vegetarian mi xao i've had in awhile! sauce is so perfectly savory (though i recommend adding some of the dry chili oil (ot kho sate i think) for spice. noodles are al dente and tasty all around. only thing is that the broccoli was still a little hard (maybe not cooked all the way?)

This is a very delicious vegetarian spot, I've liked pretty much every thing I've tried. The broths are always so tasty and rich. I love the noodles or rice dishes the best. It's a small humble store, but definitely worth checking out.

I can see why my vegan friend loves this place. Every dish that came out was incredibly flavorful. You could smell them long before you saw them. I love lemongrass so I ordered the spicy lemongrass chicken. It is hands down the best lemongrass vegan dish I've ever had. My friend really enjoyed her dish. Their service is very hands off. We were allowed to sit there for 3 hours catching up and nobody rushed us. During our time there a wide variety of people cycled through. Their stellar reputation is spreading. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes.

Hoa Sen is one of those hidden spots that you'll definitely look over especially when you enter the plaza as there's a KBBQ at the entrance. But if you're vegetarian or just craving something that's more home-cooked meal, Hoa Sen is the place to visit! Highly recommend coming a bit early before dinner time as the plaza gets pretty packed. FOOD Crispy Fried Tofu This is an appetizer meal but I feel this can be an entire meal for 1 person if you're eating light! Was not expecting this display as they kind of remind me of croquettes BUT they are exceptionally delicious! Bun Bo Hue It's fairly odd to have this entree as a vegetarian option but if you're in the mood and craving it although can't have meat on a specific day due to religious reasons, this is your meal! You won't know the difference! Pho Ap Chao A sizzling presentation! Absolutely delicious and very filling! Highly recommend this entree if you're feeling hungry and want something piping hot in every bite! OVERALL Actually never heard of this place but really glad we came across it to try it out! It can get quite packed and parking is a nuisance after 6pm as everyone is trying to get their dinner meals in. Atmosphere is quite small but feels really nice imo, it gets sunny inside after 6pm and they do roll down the shades so you can enjoy your meal which I'm glad they did! Quick tip, try and visit early on if you're in the mood for something home-cooked and vegetarian! Thank you Hoa Sen for the incredible meal! See you next time!

Hoa Sen has to be one of my favorite vegetarian spot in OC because of the tasty selection of dishes they offer! It was the time of the month in which my family have to eat vegetarian for the day, so we decided to stop by Hoa Sen. What we ordered: Mi Quang - I love that the broth came separately and you can pull it yourself into the noodle, which help prevent the noodles from going soggy. The broth is so good a nutty! Nam Chien Xu - their fried mushrooms are so good! They use portabella mushroom and fried them to perfect crispness. Pho Ap Chao Gion - the noodles were crispy with gooey sauce and veggies. Com Dap - my favorite dish we ordered! The rice were crispy, which paired well with the mushrooms! You have to eat it with their side of sweet soy sauce. Goi Happy Hoa Sen - super refreshing and a nice appetizer dish Bun Bo Hue - it was good, but didn't stand out because other dishes were too good! The service and staff were so nice and friendly! Hoa Sen located in the plaza across from Chuze fitness. The restaurant has decent amount of tables, but could get crowded on certain days. It has a very family-style feel to it, so def a good spot to get food with your family.

Came here on a Saturday for an early lunch. We were initially one of two tables, but the entire restaurant was filled within the hour. BBQ pork spring rolls (3.5/5): I found the rolls pretty dry. I don't think they were made fresh because the rice paper was starting to become firm and harder to chew. Liked the peanut sauce and the soy pork! Banh xeo (3/5): i did not expect it to be such a large portion especially at the price point! This was my first time having this dish, and I enjoyed that you get many different textures in one bite. It's just personal taste that I rated it a 3/5 because my boyfriend really enjoyed this dish even has a non-vegetarian. Mushroom/chicken claypot (3.5/5): I may have had the wrong impression about claypot rice because I thought that it would be crispy around the edges like with hot stone bibimbap. The rice was very much on the dry side, but the chicken on top was good. We added sauces from other dishes and that helped with the moisture. Spicy fried fish with lemongrass (2.5/5): This was my least favorite dish but simply because I don't like veggie meats made of bean curd. I also didn't really taste the spice. Dishes came out very fast and service was amazing.

Stopped by since it's a veggie day for Buddhism. It's packed at 10:30am but got a seat right at the entrance door. Easy parking since it's a big parking. Plenty of food choices and is quite big menu. Got bun Bo hue, and it's very tasty and well make with good amount of filling over the noodle. Service is okey, they don't check on you unless you call for the attention could be better but it's busy so...the inside is quite packed with tables so everything close to each other, abit hard to walk through it. And it's abit dark too. Overall great food with good price tag.

We ate here when we were in Orange County. The food wasn't bad, but you could definitely tell it was vegetarian. If you aren't used to vegetarian substitutions, I wouldn't recommend the Bo La Lot. The taste wasn't anything like the real version, and it was hard to finish. They did give lots of lettuce, cucumbers, etc. on the side though which was really nice. The Bun Rieu, I was excited for... in my opinion it lacked flavor. I've had good vegetarian/vegan bun rieu before and this one fell short. Also ordered Banh Xeo-- it had jicama, bean sprout, and tofu. As a Banh Xeo devourer don't get me started on this Banh Xeo...omg, the batter was way too thin and it lacked the usual deliciousness. You know how Banh Xeo batter is usually turmeric, rice flour, coconut water, some times green onion, some times water/beer/etc? This lacked that, something was missing or the ratios were off. The interior additions were practically raw, not cooked down, and the tofu was thickly cut. Who cuts tofu this way in a Banh Xeo? The nuoc mam was also lacking-- for me at least. We also ordered Goi Cuon which was pretty standard. My aunt also ordered the BBH. Now, even though this all sounds negative... well, remember, everyone's taste buds are different. I think it's nice how they had lots of Vietnamese specialties that you may not typically see in one spot. And I did notice that our table differentiated from others. Everyone else ordered from the Hot Pot section in the menu!! Maybe that's where we went wrong, these people could be locals... we should have followed in their steps. If we were to come back here (my aunt eats vegetarian/vegan some days), I will recommend we try from that section of the menu. If you're vegetarian, I'd recommend checking this spot out because it was def suitable towards vegetarians (my aunt enjoyed). The workers were kind and gave good service.

This is one of my mom's favorite Vietnamese vegetarian restaurants and it was my first time here. Everything we ordered was tasty and the service was really quick. It wasn't too busy for a Monday night before Thanksgiving so we didn't have any wait. Unfortunately don't remember all the names of the dishes but we had a rice dish in a clay pot, a noodle dish, and a salad. A good spread for four people.

My sister and I came to Hoa Sen in Garden Grove today and WOW everything was absolutely amazing. We ordered the bánh bột lọc, bún bò Huế (BBH), and the crispy rice, and every single dish was a 10/10. So flavorful, comforting, and beautifully made, you can really taste the care in the food. The service was just as incredible. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and one of the sweetest moments was when a staff member noticed my sister might need it and offered her a hair tie so she could tie her hair back That level of thoughtfulness truly stood out and made us feel so welcomed. Amazing food, warm service, and such a positive atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone.

This spot is great vegetarian alternative for the Vietnamese food around here. The service was great as the food. The Banh Xeo is super crispy and a huge portion size. The flavor resembles to real deal just minus the protein. There's lots of seating and it's located in a mini plaza with parking.

Calling out to my Vegetarian-Yelper, be ready to be bedazzled by a small family own restaurant! I recently visited Hoa Sen, and I'm so glad I found this gem in Westminster! As I try to incorporate more plant-based eats, it's a bit challenge to find a spot with truly delicious and satisfying plant-based dishes, that serves great Chinese/Vietnamese flavors and styles. I found a several in Westminster that's worth a trip!! Yippee. From the moment I walked into Hue San, the atmosphere was inviting, with friendly hostesses and staff ready to serve. The menu is extensive, featuring a variety of flavorful Vietnamese dishes made entirely from plant-based ingredients. I like the old school "placemats" which are those paper Chinese astrology. :) It was hard to choose what to order, but we ordered papaya salad, crispy noodles, "fish" and the spring rolls--all four were amazing! 1- The papaya salad is a must. I think I pretty much ate this whole plate that was meant to be shared. 2- Vitamins spring rolls had the perfect balance of fresh herbs and savory fried tofu. 3- The fish dish was too salty but very aromatic. My friends liked it. 4- The vegetables crispy noodles were "meh" and drenched with thick sauce. Overall, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The only downside was that parking can be a little tricky (one-way round about), as the location shares with other businesses.

Just called and was told they do not use MSG

Are there many gluten free options?

For sure all is vegan? It says vegetarian. What is used in the wonton?

Not everything is vegan. Sadly I think some drinks and maybe deserts use dairy. It's really sad this place doesn't just make it all vegan already.

Do they accept golden state advantage ebt card?

They will accept anything with a visa or mastercard on it... Hope that helps.

Is everything vegan/vegetarian? theres nothing that exclusively indicates vegan on the menu(?)

Everything is vegan :) I asked the waitress asking if there's egg or milk in anything and she told me everything is vegan.

Does this restaurant accommodate for nut allergies?

Yes! Usually they will ask you themselves if you have nut allergies. One dish has nuts in granulated form and sauce form, which is " yellow noodles with rice cracker" in noodles soup section. This dish has to come with the sauce, but the sauce has…

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!
