One of my favorite places to eat. Everything is large portions and absolutely tasty. You can't go wrong with absolutely anything you order. The staff is very friendly and we've never had an issue getting our food timely as well. It did take us a few times to find the correct number, as the number when you google the restaurant wasn't up to do date last time we called, but once we found it, service was quick and staff was very friendly over the phone and in person. We've gone twice already to the hoagies here in Bakersfield and both times we have been completely satisfied. We had the pismo wrap, the tachos both absolutely delicious! Recently had the double cheese burger that is made to perfection,it's a must have! Also the fish and chips with a side of clam chowder, the best fish in chips and chowder you can have in local Bakersfield 10/10! The atmosphere is great and that fact that they have ice cold cup for beer, I mean what more can you ask for after a long hot day! Great food, drinks and environment. Hoagies is finding its footing right now but I am very excited to see how they are coming along I tried the dirty bird wrap which was so GOOD. The chicken was crispy and the wrap was stuffed with chicken & fries & bbq sauce. It was not a skimpy wrap that's for sure. They also give you curly fries on the side or you can change it for something like tater tots which are also so crunchy and good! The pastrami sandwich was also delicious! It's been the best one we've come across in Bakersfield. They offer sides of ranch or bbq but be mindful that they are 50 cents each. The Freddy sandwich (tritip sandwich) was okay for me. It was thin sliced tritip & I prefer thicker slices. And came with bbq sauce on it & pepperjack cheese. Flavor was still good. They have a variety of drinks at the register (like capri suns, calypsos, and other bottled beers/drinks) but they also have fountain drinks & a bar. The space is very open and spacious with a variety of tall tables and short tables to be accommodating. They also have daily specials with foods that are not on their normal menu. I've come during dinner & lunch time and both times were very busy. They're finding their groove right now but they have been very open to helping out if something wasn't right. I got a breakfast burrito with chorizo to go.. There was a lot of grease dripping on the paper when I began to eat it. Not just a little, but at least a tablespoon. I am born and raised in Bakersfield I always hated that I had to go all the way to pismo or SLO for hoagies my favorite food so when I found out that they were opening one right next to my family's business killer poke I was so excited I tried it the other day and The service was amazing the food came out in 5 minutes! No acknowledgement, no excuse me for a moment, nothing. After another few minutes, someone else finally walked up and asked if I had been helped. Does it make ANY sense to have the only person at the front counter where you order not only take phone orders, but prioritize them over someone in person who has already been waiting? Probably should have just followed my instincts and left at that point, but I decided to order anyways. About 45 minutes later we finally got our food (after having to ask). We ordered food to go. We arrived early before the lunch hour around 11:40 A.M. on a Wednesday. It was not very busy. We placed our order and we waited no less than 40 minutes for our food, which was only two wraps. That is it. The Buffalo wrap was boring, plain and the wing sauce is not good. The fries were of course cold because we waited so long for the to go order. We would have ordered on-line, but I had never been to Hoagies after hearing all about it. I don't usually leave reviews, but this time it felt necessary. Hoagies in Pismo is my favorite i've literally driven there just for lunch. So when I heard they opened one in Bakersfield, I was so hyped. I went on 4/6 and we ordered two sandwiches, a plain cheeseburger, and a mixed drink. First thing I noticed the high top chairs super uncomfortable. We ended up waiting for one of the three lower tables to open just to sit. Still excited for the food though. After about 35 mins, everything came out with the chips and salsa. My buffalo chicken sandwich had tomatoes (I asked for none) and the cheeseburger wasn't plain, but no biggie easy fix. When they brought the burger and sandwich back, the burger was actually bomb n i don't ever like burgers , but the sandwich still had tomato's under the lettuce like it had just been picked off. I sent it back again, and the vibe from staff was definitely annoyed. While waiting (another 20 mins, and my whole table was already done eating), I went to have some chips and found a long blonde hair in the salsa. No real apology, just kinda attitude and glares like I was being difficult. I asked for a box and took my sandwich and half of my 80 year old grandma's sandwich home. When I finally went to eat it later there was a long black hair on her sandwich too. Super disappointing, especially since I was so excited. The food was not it the tortillas where not warmed up and when you get there, you have to stand there and order your food. My wife took me here based on her previous experience and she raved on how good the fish and chips were. We shared a five piece fish n chips meal and also ordered a nacho. The fish n chips were okay but cold like it had been sitting. The nachos were not good at all to the point where we took almost the entire appetizer home. The chips were stale, the Avocado slices on top were not ripe or ready to be eaten, a lot of chili but it was lacking cheese and the other toppings listed. Sorry but was not satisfied with the quality of food at all. Ordered the fish and chips and the fish was so greasy the batter just slipped off the fish they had no flavor at all. I substituted the fries for what I thought were garlic fries but there was no garlic. I had to ask if that was their garlic fries because I thought maybe they missed it. I was given a container another order of fries that actually had pieces of garlic on them ( I'm guessing that's what mine should of looked like). Very disappointed in the lack of taste and was really hoping for better since they were an extension of a restaurant that is already established by the coast. Went to Hoagies yesterday and sat at the bar. The bartender ignored us a couple of times. He asked if I'd like another glass of wine and I said sure, he then proceeded to pour wine in my glass that still had 1/4 of wine in it instead of giving me a new glass. My husband ordered a beer and two glasses of wine and one beer was $38! Also, it took 45 min for us to get our food. We understand it was around lunchtime but the place had calmed down since we were waiting for our food for so long. My husband ordered the Stanley and he usually loves it but he didn't like it at all yesterday. Hope they get better service. read more
