This was my second experience with Hobe and it will be my last. Since I just brought the items home today, I cannot comment on taste or texture. I CAN comment on lousy customer wervice. Since I am disabled I bought a Groupon coupon and asked a coupole of friends to pick up what I needed. What I needed was ground beef and bacon. Turns out they were unable to se the $50.00 on either ground beef or bacon. They bought for me two steaks, neither of which I am excited about since I don't cook/eat a lot of steak. One of my friends even asked if they could grind the steaks to make the meat I really wanted -- they refused. Very poor customer service and VERY high prices. Never again! read more

Prime meat at its best. They carry all kinds of meat from both prime and choice. Makes their own sausages, not bad but not great either. Prices are better than aj's. I love their prime filets and if i don't see the size i want ,the butcher has always cut new ones for me. Go there every time i am in town. read more

I finally went to Hobe Butcher Shop. I am sorry I waited so long. We cooked the meat tonight, Great Taste. The people in the shop were version friendly and helpful. I used a Groupon with no issues. My favorite Saturday treat is when my husband gets me the pulled pork sandwich and fries from Hobe. Excellent lunch for only $5! They also have outstanding barbecue sauce- we got a habanero one and it has a nice kick to it. One of my favorite lunch spots! read more

This place is so overpriced! Thank god I had a Groupon. Paid $25 for $50 worth of meat which is only valid for prime meat. One TBone cost $19.00 plus tax. I used my $50 on 4 pieces of meat and I still had to pay out of pocket! This promotion was a total fail on their part because I'll never step foot in their door again. You can get the same quality of meat at your local grocery store and don't have to drive 30 miles to get it. Texas Roadhouse here I come!!!! read more

I visited Hobe because of a Living Social coupon. Rest assured I would never do so again, with or without a coupon. The meat was subpar in my opinion and even with the best cooking, the flavor just wasn't there. I also bought some bacon and have never been more disappointed. The strips were mostly if not all fat and not even fit to feed my dogs. To add insult to injury, the strips were covered in little bone fragments from previous cut jobs. Disgusting to day the very least. I hope that staff of Hobe reads this and works to improve the quality of their meat products. read more

I just bought a pork crown roast here that is MUCH bigger than what I expected. Almost a month ago I ordered a 12-14 rib roast, but when I went to pick it up, all they had were 19-20 rib roasts. I would have refused it, but wasn't sure I could find another this close to Christmas Eve. I'm sure it will be excellent quality, but I don't appreciate how they padded my order by about a third. I have to go find a larger roasting pan and adjust cooking times on an already very busy day. If/when you order, specify exactly what size/weight you will accept and have a backup plan ready read more

I have to prefice the review by saying that I own a catering business, so Quality, Presentation and of course Taste are very important to me. I stopped into Hobe to get something for a Saturday night dinner. When you walk in, the presentation of the shop is CLEAN and has a nice food aroma. The paint is bright white and sharp with some great HOBE nostalgia on the walls. Although I did not partake, they offer a vast $5 menu of sandwiches, ribs, sausage, etc for you to eat on site or take to go...must be one of the best lunch deals in town. The quality of the meats in the case was AWESOME...I have to say the meat looks as good/better than AJ's and the price is MUCH LOWER! So...I chose a USDA choice T-Bone-it ate more like a USDA prime Porterhouse! Feeling lazy I bought a twice baked potato and sweet corn for the easy prep. The potato was unbelievably good, I wish that I had gotten two as my date scarfed most of the one I had intended to share. Keep up the good work, Hobe, I will be back! read more

Another vegetarian dog owner here to give Hobe some love. Skip the questionably-processed rawhide and buy your dog raw meaty bones from Hobe. Your dog's dental plaque will disappear. Also check their freezer case for their ground meat and veggies for dogs. High quality dog food! read more

Hope meats has always been great for the quality, variety and service but they just expended and now have a deli/restaurant section. It's not large, only 5 or so tables but the food and service were fantastic. Everything is scratch made from the smoked meats to the side dishes to the awesome dressings on their salads. Love the caesar dressing, one of the best I have ever had. In addition to the standard deli sandwiches, they also have a few special ones like the Dreamy Draw which is smoked brisket with a horseradish cream sauce, caramelized onion jam and havarti cheese-just fantastic! The other one I tried was called the Biltmore. It had smoked tri-tip beef sliced nice and rare with oven roasted balsamic tomatoes and a blue cheese spread. Really good and so flavorful. The Chef, Tracy also had me sample the soup of the day which was Gumbo, WOW. I hope that's a regular on their menu so I can order that the next time I'm in. Love it! read more

I absolutely love Hobe Meats. Everything I've ever bought here (over almost 20 years) has been high quality, amazingly so. And the prices, for what you're getting, are more than fair. If you can't get here regularly, at least get something special for New Year's or some other holiday and treat yourself. If that's too pricey, get a pound of bacon and luxuriate one Sunday morning. And if you need some unusual or specialty meat, they'll have it, too. It's totally my go-to butcher in town. read more

Staff was friendly. I drove out there from Peoria to get meat to home-make my dogs food. My dog has a lot of food allergies and is also super picky. I also got some cherry apple wood smoked bacon for us. The bacon was the best I've had. I will definitely be back to get more meat in the future. read more

Awesome people; being from NY, my butcher shop was my weekly stop. They also, like Hobe carried "package" deals, in which case, I went there monthly. I loved the meat and the butcher would cut it just the way I liked. Today I stopped in Hobe, about an hour or so before closing. I wanted one of the packages, but was told it usually was ordered 24-48 hours in advance. I don't live that close, so figured I'd just get something smaller to go...the gentlemen was so kind and said he'd see if he could make it up for me right there, and did. What great customer service. I went there years ago, when the first owners had it, and was very disappointed, but I have to say, the meat I purchased today looks wonderful. Can;t wait to try it...and if it's good, I'll have my new regular butcher...thank you Hobe for being so kind! read more

Had a groupon and, while the filet was good, the workers were rude enough that I will not go back. Ordinarily poor customer service does not bother me, but this was exceptionally poor. In short, I was greeted with a "whaddya want," essentially had my purchase flung at me, and not told thank you. Actually made me laugh, like I was at one of those restaurants where the wait staff is intentionally mean and sarcastic. read more

I went to Hobe before Memorial Day to get ribs to grill. The butcher picked out the two racks and I commented that the top rack was pretty dark. The butcher said the fan in the case darkens them. When I took the ribs out of the refrigerator to grill and unwrapped them, the top rack was green. The smell was disgusting, so I threw them away. I will never go back. read more

I moved from Phx to far east valley. I made it back to Hobe meats 2 days after my groupon had expired. when asked if I could get the groupon special, The lady snapped "absolutely not"! I ended up getting 2 new york strips for my 25.00 and needed to go to Fry's to get an extra steak.We all agreed that the Fry's steak was much better. 1st time visiting and bought 2 bone in rib eyes and the thick cut pepper bacon. Amazing! The rib eyes where perfection; nothing needed to be added to them but some salt and cracked pepper while they rested before grilling. I will never buy premium meats from anywhere else again. I found Hobe Meats because of a Groupon that I purchased. I'm soooo glad I did! The people there are friendly and helpful. The steaks I brought were excellent and found some of the best chorizo I ever tasted! Not full of fat! Also, their fresh (not smoked) polish kielbasa isn't bad either! I visited Hobe Meats this last week with a groupon coupon. I had really high hopes that I had a deal coming my way. I was sorely disappointed. The groupon coupon was only to be used on their fresh meats. When I looked at their fresh meat counter it look like something from Rancho Market. The chicken was crusted and the product looked like it had been sitting out all day long. Then I was told I could order from anything else. The prices were unbelieveable. The same ribeye you'd buy from a store sold at a price of $18.99 a pound. I ordered 2 thick steak cut in half and paid $40.00. Boy did I get duped. I am not one to not speak my mind. When I did, I received smiles amost as if they knew I was shafted. I will never return to this market. read more

I have purchased beef from here in the past, and they have always had good quality cuts. Today I stopped in to the deli part of the store - the ruben on rye was good, the gentleman behind the counter was nice and helpful, and I picked up some beef brisket that was great. Good experience.
