We decided to make our first visit to Hob Nob. Location, Food, Service... all were very good. Our Server did a spectacular job pacing the meal. Yes, we spent 2 hours... but the time flew by. We had a great view of Lake Michigan. The food was all hot and well prepared. The baked French Onion soup was as good as could be. Crab au gratin mushrooms, calamari... Both excellent. For dinner, had the duck. Brown crispy skin, tender flavorful meat... great choice. My wife enjoyed the scallops and were very good also. Hob Nob is quirky on the inside, and a Supper Club worth visiting. I have no hesitation making a return visit. Make reservations and enjoy! A great member on the Supper Club circuit. read more

Amazing food ( except that sad small baked potato that I ordered as an entree). My friends enjoyed crisp calamari and delightful whitefish that they said was very fresh. My blueprint oysters were okay. The piano player was great! Full house on a Saturday night with lots of private rooms where many celebrations were happening! 1st time visitors accompanied by another couple who normally loves this place. Greeted promptly at the door by hostess. Went to the bar for a pre-reservation cocktail. Three bartenders behind the bar, one apparently had the job of just straightening the glasses??? This was NY Eve @5:30 and bar was full of waiting customers. Bartender with Santa hat was good, but clearly overworked making ice cream drinks by hand (betting he will up with wrist surgery....no blender available?) On to the dinner. Two at our table ordered prime rib, one filet and one chicken Oscar. The prime's and filet were served RARE despite being ordered medium. The Oscar was tasteless and the augratin potatoes were cold. Best part of the meal was the salad with Blu cheese dressing ($3 upcharge was so worth it) Waitress was accommodating. We left 30% tip and did think she could have said a simple thank you. After dinner ice cream drink was a treat, but not enough to bring us back for a mediocre meal. Another positive was establishment was decorated beautifully. read more

Top rated for service and ambiance by the lake if you relish a traditional WI supper club, but the food was just average and not worth the drive from Chicago. The six of us on Sunday night had excellent service from Robin--informed, not rushed yet attentive, with good leisurely pacing. Unfortunately the food was blah in general. The whitefish was properly prepared and good; cannoli pasta dish was very boring; duck was nothing inspiring; in fact all the mains were just ok and not worth the price. The crab-stuffed-mushrooms appetizer with melted cheese was a severe disappointment at $17 for 4 small (1-inch diameter) mushrooms that didn't taste much like crab. With most mains you get serviceable versions of a small soup, a small salad and a potato, and dinner roll, which is typical supper club. Next time we are in the area we will stop for only a drink at the bar in the main room and just enjoy the great ambiance of the main dining room with its bar, the built-in banquets, and view of the lake. read more

I gave HobNob 2 stars only because the view is spectacular! Bartenders do not great customers, inattentive to details and do not offer menus or recommendations. Server during dinner also inattentive, never checked in during the course of the meal to see if our food was satisfactory. Soup was cold, au gratin potatoes no flavor, steaks ok but not the quality you'd expect for the price. When a member of the party questioned an incorrect drink, which was ordered earlier in the evening, the waitress argued with the customer. We really wanted to try an after dinner drink at the bar. We sat at the nearly empty bar for 10 minutes and no one served us, we left. As we were walking out a bartender chased us down and accused us of ditching our bar bill! Not worth the money! read more

Wow, such a let down. Food was horrible, zero flavor, my wife actually grabbed salt and pepper and ut it on her food. Never in 20 years has she done that. The allroten potatoes were horrible, and I looked forward to eating them for over a week. Our friends raved at the ribs last time we were there, this time, again, no flavor... Hobnob was a delightful return to days gone by. An old school fine dining atmosphere combined with the casual and friendly spirit of a Wisconsin supper club brightens your spirit the minute you walk in. The view of the lake if you are lucky enough to have that (and they are set up so a lot of people do) just adds to the delight of the evening. The French onion soup was perfection smothered with cheese, My schnitzel was wonderful and a surprise offering to me while Deb's steak seemed to thrill her as well. And the Brandy Alexander, well that was a decadent delight beyond description. I've been to the hobnob twice in the last six months. Both times I ordered the petite fillet cooked medium. Both times the steak came out as medium rare to rare. Both times I sent the steak back and unfortunately, by the time I received the steak all the other members of my group had finish eating. This is unacceptable read more

The only reason I'm giving hobnob two stars is because of the view. The four of us ordered different meals, and all four of us were disappointed. A steak order was undercooked. The potatoes are gratin was basically chopped potato with cheese thrown on top. The Wienerschnitzel lacked flavor and the breading was like Concrete. We were very disappointed as we had been waiting for a long time to go there. Apparently ownership has changed in the last couple of years and the food quality has dropped off significantly. read more

Steak was maybe 1/2" thick, overdone (requested medium rare), and very fatty. Took so long to get the thing I didn't bother to send it back. WAY OVERPRICED. I was completely taken aback by the opulent decor, the attention to detail, there was something wonderful to discover in every nook and cranny. Every room has its own style. First time customer. Caroline was a great waitress and very attentive. Our Caesar Salad tasted good but way too much dressing on it. Almost swimming. The first dish, Canneloni was nothing more than Marinara sauce and spinach. No pasta at all. Then they brought out a Chicken Parmesan to replace it. The pasta tasted as though it had been in water for hours, the chicken was cut up and laying on top but no mozzarella cheese. The second entree we ordered was a filet which was a center cut but it came out ice cold. They replaced it with another steak but this one was an end cut which was loaded with gristle. We first went to Hobnob more than 15 years ago. Since then it's been several more times. While the atmosphere and decor are as grand as ever, the food quality has slipped. On Oct. 16, 2022 we had dinner there for a birthday celebration and invited family members we hadn't seen in years. The place left us dissapointed. As everyone oohed and aahed at the landscape and the furnishings, they weren't as excited about the quality of their meals. The ducks were tough, dry and charred. Barely a taste of "orange sauce" at all. The stuffing was very salty, and was an unappealing gray color. The stuffed pork chop with big and good-looking. But nearly every bite was full of fat. The twice-baked potatoes looked delicious, but were unseasoned and blah. A plain baked potato would have been just as good. The warm spinach salads with bacon seemed to be missing the bacon. Not everything was bad. The ribeye's were pretty good, though not quite steak house quality. The gorganzola bread and Oysters Rockefeller were tasty; and the minestrone soup was the best by far. And although it was a birthday dinner, the birthday person in our group had to ask the waitress if they were going to get one of those ice creams with a candle that kept running by our table for other birthday diners. Kind of embarrassing. In conclusion, the Hobnob, for the price, is simply overrated. read more

We have been going to the Hobnob for over 30 years. Although I cant remember since the last time I was a kid.... the food was delicious but the service was amazing! However I do have a question.... why ask if we are celebrating anything tonight? We were and told the waitress but nothing felt special. It felt the staff were trained and scripted to say and to serve here. the french onion was delicious!!! We spent way over $425 for 4 of us. Which, sitting next to the stand, I was able to see tabs as servers added in. and that yes was our bill. With a 400 buck tab...... i think the service would have been a little better. And after watching the bartender smoke cigs and complain about having to wear his mask and forgetting it in his car...... was a little ricd. we spent $ 50 alone on 1, that's right 1 round drinks and then I have to listen to that!! nah! Hobnob has been a staple supper club in the Kenosha/Racine area for decades. Was in there with a large group celebrating an event. We all had the same soup - chicken noodle. It was obviously made with artificial chicken base and not stock, it was so salty that it was inedible. The salad was pre-dressed in a vinegar heavy oil and vinegar dressing. Very off-putting. Our entrée was a petite filet with a baked potato. It came with button mushrooms. The mushrooms were so salty, they were just gross. The filet was decent, the potato was a potato. Nothing much can go wrong. Hob Nob used to be top notch. Quality has definitely slipped over time. read more

Delicious food, great service and a beautiful view of lake Michigan. Filet Oscar was perfectly cooked, hollándaise sauce was rich and buttery. Baked French onion was amazing two layers of melted cheese on top. My friend had the lamb shank also amazing, for appetizers we had the snails and Calamari they did not disappoint. Such a perfectly classic supper club experience, you almost forget what year it is as you're transported to the Rat Pack era for a few hours. I had high hopes for our New Year's Eve dinner at the HobNob, unfortunately, it was not the greatest. The atmosphere seemed really nice and service was good (meaning our server). That being said, our main dishes were subpar The good parts: I had a kettle martini, dirty with olives, and my husband had a couple of old-fashioned sours with whiskey. They were tasty drinks. We got the calamari appetizer, and that was fried to perfection and very light with good flavor. The aïoli went well with it. And we had the French onion soup, but they upcharged you for the small crock with the cheese and so we did not order those. The French onion soup with the sprinkle of cheese was OK. They also up charge on New Year's Eve for a vegetable to come with your meal, which I found interesting for supper club where everything is supposed to come with the meal. Seven extra dollars for asparagus? Really? I wouldn't complain if it was all à la carte and prime meat, but it was not. The fresh bread was good and salads were fine. I ordered the fillet Oscar. I was seriously disappointed. It's supposed to be one fillet of 6 ounces topped with hollandaise sauce and crab and asparagus. I got three tiny medallions, topped with a little bit of fishy crab (yuck) and bland hollandaise sauce. Because they were tiny medallions they were overcooked. There was no seasoning on them. The presentation was poor. My daughter had the prime rib, and she said it was OK. It was tough for her to cut through even though it was rare. She's not used to that and it was tougher to chew. My husband had veal, and he said that was good, but nothing to cry home about. One other complaint was that we went on the website multiple times before heading down, and they never said anything about a trimmed down menu. They downsized it, so the dish my husband originally wanted to get, the lamb, was not a part of the menu. We were not able to order an ice cream drink which is supposed to be one of their specials. These are things that they should note on the website for NYE, before letting people make reservations with a packed house and a downsized menu. There were quite a few items missing from it. We were bummed. It definitely was not the worst experience that I have had, as the service, drinks ans apps were goof and I'd be willing to try them again. BUT, for a New Year's Eve dinner that was over 300 bucks. I would have to say that I'm disappointed. I have had better at steak houses and was just at a pop-up supper club in Milwaukee It was fantastic compared to this. Hopefully they will see this review and make note of changes. Upon arrival, the greeting by the hostess was cold and borderline rude or hostile. Table was not ready so I asked if I could sit at the bar, "no, not on weekends, but you can see if you can find a seat". The bar had plenty of open seats, twelve or more. I waited for five minutes for the uninterested bar tender to take my drink order, picking up used bar napkins was more important than waiting on a customer. After ten minutes a waiter arrived and informed me my table was ready. I couldn't get the bartender's attention to pay my bar tab so I asked if they could add it to my dinner tab, " no, not any more". Another ten minutes to pay my bar tab. With all this aggregation, I decided to skip dinner. Suggest you do as well! read more

Hobnob has been around for ages and we have eaten here several times. Each time we eat here, the food and service has been subpar. Not exceptional based on expectations of going to a traditional supper club. In my own personal opinion, Hobnob is outdated and overpriced based on what you actually get. Cuts of meat are not prime but will be paying prime prices. While while keep coming back hoping it was just an "off" night...every night we go back it seems to be an "off" night. A few other notes if anyone from this restaurant really reads these: Red wine should no be stored in a cellar that is the same temp as an actual fridge or even colder. Our overpriced red wine was so cold the exterior of the bottle was sweating once it came out to the table. Wine list is outdated and ridiculously over priced. We understand wine at restaurants will be expensive but this place is overkill. Cuts of meat should be prime if you are going to be charging the cost for them. The NY strip my husband had ended up becoming very expensive dog food. While service was okay, clearly they are understaffed (not our waitresses fault). Kitchen is clearly disorganized and/or understaffed too. More than 4 apps and one other menu item were sold out and our food took FOREVER to be served. This is unfortunate because we planned on ordering apps but could not. As a restaurant, you should know this has a domino effect on both the staff and business (less money made). We visit many different supper clubs around WI since we have places near a variety of clubs and unfortunatly HobNob is at the end of our list. We keep trying to love this place as the location is amazing but become quickly disappointed every single time. read more

We're not to hard to please. The atmosphere was good. Service good. Food however! Left alot to be desired. My wife got the filet mignon. Absolutely no presentation! Just a steak on a plate. When I mentioned that our server she said it's because the onion straws were left off the top. I don't think that was going to make or break the steak Applebee's could have done this easily I got the stuffed pork chop, stuffing was good chop was dry, and again no presentation! luckily I had a gift card for a hundred bucks so I was only out about 50! and we won't be going Back. I've been wanting to try The Hob Nob for awhile now. I was really looking forward to it. While the food was very good the service was awful. For the price you pay and the experience you're looking forward to what a letdown! BTW it wasn't that busy. It took several minutes for our drink order to be taken and many more before we got them. After another long wait to place our order and several more minutes the rolls, appetizer and soup arrived all at once! Ugh! After ordering my steak medium rare it arrived rare and it was a good long while before the server came back to check on us. She took the steak and naturally it came back overcooked. The best days of this old time supper club are behind it. Too bad because if the food matched the beautiful location on Lake Michigan and the pretty darn good service it would match it would be five stars. We did have a reservation that was honored timely and got seated at a table overlooking the Lake. It was gorgeous! The place was packed. The two bars and all the dining rooms were full. Easy to get lost when using the restroom. The 13 oz bone in Prime Rib for $38 was sorely lacking in flavor and tenderness. The Salmon dish had bones in it! The loaded baked potatoes at $6 each were luke warm and charred, it wouldn't even melt the butter! Very disappointing that such a nice old place had gone so far downhill. We did tell the server about the bones and the server said she would tell the chef. No adjustments was made to the bill or offered though. read more

My wife and I both ordered calves liver. Both of our orders were overcooked and my wife's was over half gristle. Our order was a long time coming. The people at a table near us came after we did were sitting with a carry-out container before our entrees came. I mentioned to our waitress that the kitchen was very slow. She said something about a large party in the other room. Somehow it didn't affect the order of the table next to us. No apology for the delay. A classic. The best ice cream drinks. Food is almost always excellent though the past few times some of the dishes tasted over salted. The soup for sure. My issue is with the service. The bartender, a long time employee there is very unfriendly. It's not the first time. He seems to pick and choose who he wants to engage with rather then be engaging with everyone who sits down. Very cranky. Maybe a bad day? Again ‍ Our server too. Very disengaged. We saw many tables around us getting the service you deserve when fine dining. What an awesome place to go for dinner! Spectacular views of Lake Michigan. My wife and I loved the supper club feel of this place. We arrived early to secure a lake view table and started with a couple of drinks. The service was attentive but not overly so. The food was outstanding. I hade the ribeye and my wife had the macadamia nut encrusted walleye. I cannot express how good everything was, the ambiance, the service, the food, the view. Pick any of them. It is well worth going to if you want an great romantic dinner with your spouse Our second visit here did not disappoint! The view of the lake is spectacular, and the food is absolutely delicious. I have driven by Hobnob numerous times and have always wanted to go, living over an hour away hasn't always made it a convenient option, but Saturday night we went out of our way to finally experience it. Being an active yelper I typically do research on restaurants before going anywhere, and now I know to stick to that process. To start we ordered Brandy Sweet Old Fashioneds, instead they were made with Whisky and not sweet, not a good first impression. ($9 a piece by the way!) Then as we started to look over the menu our eyeballs just about popped out of our heads. First... the top of the menu says to allow 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours for your dining experience!!! Ok, wow, was not expecting to be there that long and they were not kidding - we were there for a full 2 hours. While it is nice not to feel rushed to get out, there was a lot of time in between drinks and the food, and often waiting for the server to come back. Second... OMG - be prepared to take out a second mortgage! Honestly there is a part of me that thinks back and wishes we finished our first round of WRONG drinks and called it a night. Instead, we decided to stick it out and prayed that it was going to be the best dining experience we ever had! For the appetizer we ordered the Crab Cake! Yes, you read that right, Crab CAKE - 1 cake! It was MAYBE 3" in diameter. While it was very good and came with 3 different types of sauces to dip, $14 for 1 cake is a bit ridiculous, especially when splitting between 2 people. There is an entrée version for $34 - I would hope you get at least 2 with that, I didn't bother to ask!! For the entrée we both chose the 8oz Filet Mignon which cost $50 each! It did come with bread, soup and salad but still, that is pretty pricy. With that cost came high expectations, we were expecting the BEST filet we ever had, unfortunately that was not the case - it was "ok", definitely not worth $50! And that was one of the less expensive options. You could really break the bank and go with the Prime Rib for $84 or Porterhouse for $105!!! My dad is an amazing chef, maybe not professionally, but he could definitely put some chefs to shame, I pick his tenderloin from Costco that cost $100 to feed 15 of us any day over the meal we had here! We did not bother with dessert since our bill was already over $200 between 4 drinks, an appetizer and 2 steaks (not including the tip!!!) While the décor is fun and the view is stunning, I wish I could say the rest of our experience was as enjoyable. Needless to say my husband and I left very disappointed, and broke! Went to HobNob for the first time this summer season with trepidation because of the new ownership and some questionable reviews online. There were seven of us and we ordered everything from French Onion Soup to Mushrooms all around to Fish to Chicken to Steaks. Our waitress was a five year veteran, Leslie is still very much in charge and seven happy diners left smiling contentedly. Nothing has changed IMHO. It's still a great two hour plus meal and a chance to show off to out of town friends. If I had to throw in a negative, my chicken vegetable soup could have been 10 degrees warmer, but it worked fine for me and was gone before I even thought about it. read more
