My husband and I visit this area each year in early fall. Decided to try someplace new. Hobo's could not have been a better choice. They easily accommodated our dog on the back patio with no problem. We just had an awesome dinner after a fun filled ay at Michigan Adventures! Our group of 10 (4 adults and 6 kids) came in and was seated right away! The staff was amazing and very upbeat, especially after they mentioned they had a mad rush for the USA soccer game! We all were very happy with our meals! Not only was our waitress awesome with our kids but several members of the staff took time out to talk to them and make them feel special! The decor was fun and the 22 beers on tap made the exhausted parents very happy! We loved Hobo's and will be back again! read more

Stopped after a long day at MI Adv. After looking up reviews have it a try. Can't recommend anything more highly. Parking lot was very full, family was getting grumpy from lack of food. Got seated right away, good menu. Excellent waitress, and the food was even better. Kids actually commented on their chicken fingers being very good, as the wife and I had steak which was VERY good. It comes with their coleslaw on top, but I asked for mine on the side in case I didn't like it in my sandwich. I work at a local hotel and send tons of guests to Hobo's. They come back very happy and will even return a second night during their stay. Had dinner there the other night with my family of 7 and we all liked it. Great food and service. We sat by the fireplace, it was beautiful but may be a little loud. I am vegetarian and was very happy to have a couple of choices. Can't wait to go back to try more of their expansive menu. read more

Perch...the BEST in town! Ribs...Simply put, they compare to any competition style ribs!, and the stews and soups are all made fresh from scratch and can't be beat! This tavern style pub has it all, from a $10 filet at the bar to so many beers on tap I lost count. The service is great, and the people are very friendly. First the good: nice atmosphere. It's a big place, but feels cozy. A nice selection of brews on tap. My wife and I were greeted warmly, the food came out really fast, and we had friendly service. My wife and I stopped in recently because we had a gift card. I had the perch, which was actually really good, they have a nice batter, which I think they describe as a "dusting" on the menu. It was light and the tartar sauce was really nice too. So why the two stars? I know I mentioned friendly service but our server was just on top of us the entire visit. I bet with delivering our food and drinks and checking up on us, she came by our table at least 8 times in the 45 minutes or so that we were there. Don't know if they try to create a quick turnover, but the food came out so quickly, and she checked on us so often, it felt like they were trying to push us out the door. My wife got the special which I believe was a pork loin with stuffing and gravy on top. That too was decent, but nothing to write home about. There were mashed potatoes on the side, served in a single serving bowl which were obviously scooped from a big pan with an ice cream scoop. There was also a whipped cranberry dish on the side in a bowl. This presentation made it feel like it came from a cafeteria. Back to my perch, mine came with fries, which really sucked. They were the run of the mill crinkle cuts that you can get at any grocery store. It was almost like they ran out and sent one of the cooks to Sav-a-Lot for another bag. Then they skimped on the fries, so it was like they were limiting the portions so they wouldn't run out again. To sum it up, it was a decent meal, but the server wouldn't leave us alone. As Hobo's is a solid 20-25 minutes away from my house, we probably won't be going back, unless we get another gift card. read more

Today my husband and I decided to give Hobo's Tavern a try. After we ate at the Hobo's pizzeria about a month ago, and it was horrible. So we thought, maybe different menu and different cooks. I can't begin to tell you how seriously disappointed we were, AGAIN. It's the same menu!! We were seated when we arrived quickly, due to the time of day we dined. We ordered drinks and they were delivered promptly. Absolutely the weakest drinks we've ever had, I'm not sure why I ordered a second. I ordered the NY strip Medium Rare with Broccoli. My husband ordered the Ribs and 6oz Sirloin Medium Well. My steak arrived RARE and my broccoli was extremely over cooked, bordering on a warm raw. My husbands Ribs were very mediocre at best. Parboiled, old flavored meat with way to much sauce and his steak was also RARE! We sent back the steaks and broccoli and ate the ribs. My steak came back and it was good enough I suppose, my husbands was now Medium Rare. So we sent his back AGAIN, this is the THIRD TIME. My NY strip was probably the blandest steak I've ever put in my mouth. I'm not sure where you purchase your meat, but you may want to rethink your distributor. The sirloin was just down right disgusting, luckily we have a dog, I'm sure it came back over cooked this time. I don't know, he didn't even bother tasting it. I'm not sure what is wrong with your grill line cooks, but I feel they could benefit from some teaching/schooling. Your bartender needs to learn how to pour an alcoholic drink. I'd like to know that there is actually liquor in the drink I'm paying $6 for. Overall the absolute worse way to spend $60.85. We definitely won't be going back and I can't say that I'll spread nice words about this place to friends. I travel for my job, so we've ate many steak around the country and these were by far the worse to date. read more

I have never been disappointed with the menu variety, the quality of food or the service. During my last visit I tried the Asparagus Soup and it was the best I have ever eaten and it was loaded with asparagus. I wish I had their recipe. Seems the quality has gone down, ordered the lettuce wraps and the cucumber and carrot were not very thinly sliced. I was not able to wrap the lettuce around. Ordered a burger at a different date and the patty was in half not sure if they did that to make sure it was cooked? We had an amazing dinner. We ordered the Beach Bread and it was delicious. The honeydew martini was the right amount of sweet and the local draft beers were great. I ordered a petite filet which was cooked how I asked and the perfect amount of meat for me. My husband got the perch and ribs, meatiest ribs he has ever had. She ignored my request and pretty much blew me off but I'm glad she did cause the wedge was super fantastic just the way it is!
