I'm a second generation Hoekstra customer who purchased an older home in 1994. I've recently purchased my second HVAC system from Hoekstra. Every interaction I've had with Hoekstra over 22 years has been a good experience. That's saying something because I'm a really crabby person. It begins with a phone call and Brenda F is always friendly and helpful when scheduling the semi-annual service agreement maintenance and the rare call for repair. This time, Tim M's technical expertise made him the official bearer of bad news that my current air conditioner had indeed died and needed replacing. I received invaluable guidance from Scott S, a Hoekstra engineer of 32 years, who clearly and respectfully explained types of systems and options to me in a language I could understand and without condescension. Jacque S, an absolutely patient gem, worked with me on logistics to quickly schedule an install. She sent two excellent techs, Todd K and John H, who skillfully installed my new HVAC system (and dealt with numerous older home and older homeowner quirks) -- on a rainy day -- leaving everything spotless inside and out, and, in fact, in better condition than it was before they arrived. read more

Had my furnace replaced on an "emergency" basis. Chris K/James G (sales/installation) were great. Front office dropped the ball! Getting something as simple as a paid invoice with date of installation, equipment (furnace/thermostat) model/serial number would likely be easy to transmit on/with invoice (especially since Hoekstra must be aware of a NICOR rebate). Have spent last day and a half pulling covers off furnace/tapping on thermostat just for basic information for rebate submission. Hoekstra isn't aware that customer might need these for a rebate? Times are a changin'. Had a similar installation in 2004 but the invoice included everything you might want to know - model/serial numbers, individual component prices. I shouldn't have and to call for a copy of the signing papers, work order, final invoice. Glad the furnace is working but this is the "icing on the cake" that simmers to the top and makes the experience thumbs up or down! Five stars for sales/installation; 1 star for the front office. We woke up last week October 9th, it was chilly in the house. I went to flip the button from the air conditioning, to the heat, nothing happened. I went to yelp, to look up the top rated heating, and air conditioning. Hoekstra popped up. I gave them a call, and got an appointment in a couple of hours. Tim showed up, after calling first. He was very punctual. Our furnace is almost sixteen years old. He took his time, checked everything, and informed us, that it would be quite expensive to fix. One modulator was burnt out. Then I started thinking, this furnace is old. We told him we were interested in buying a new furnace. Brian showed up that day. We liked him instantly. We picked the furnace we wanted. The install date was Saturday the 11th. Jimmy, and Emmanuel showed up on time, and were exceptional in every way. The job was done by 12:30. It's Wednesday, and everything is working beautifully. If you're looking for a good reliable heating, and air conditioning company, look no further. We have peace of mind, knowing we have a good company to call for our needs. read more

We had our old air conditioner removed and a new air conditioner installed in a different location. Hoekstra was not the cheapest estimate we received but I think it was well worth the price. Our basement area with the furnace is teeny tiny cramped quarters. Cornelius S. did the removal and preparation. Ernesto V. completed the installation. Cornelius and Ernesto are both polite and professional. They were both very careful about protecting the areas where they walked and worked. When I asked a few questions about Hoekstra, Cornelius told me about how great of a company it is to work for. He said that they go out of their way to make sure customers are happy with the products and the work completed. Ernesto also had great things to say about the company and his colleagues. When he experienced a few snags in the installation, Ernesto stayed into the evening troubleshooting. A company is nothing more than the impression their employees give. This is a Heating and Air Conditioning place that knows what they are doing! They are perfectionist and take great pride and care in what they are doing and in there work!An engineer Dave came out first to asess what would be best for our home. He was professional and respectful. Then Sal was the technician to install everything. He was amazingly good at what he does! Wow! A perfectionist and polite, and respectful! Sal knows what he is doing to fix it right the first time! Jacky also was helpful with the rebates and setting everything up! She was polite and professional too! Hoekstra put in our furnace in 2015, and new air conditioner on 2017. From now on they will be who I call and recommend to others for Air Conditioning and heating needs! On Friday night our Air went out and we called for service. Much to my amazement Tim Hall answered the call and arranged to come out that same evening. I knew he had other calls but was insistent he would come. To my amazement he came within an hour. Not only did he repair the unit he was pleasant. He actually seemed to like his job. What a breath of fresh air. How often do you get a pleasant technician. As he left I knew he was on his way to yet another customer and still had a smile on his face. Our unit was still under warranty so the price was free which considering the actual cost I would have been shell shocked. Luckily I purchased our unit from Hoekstra to begin with. Tim is certainly an asset to Hoekstra. Don't ever lose him. Tim I hope I get to request you if I ever need service again. Jeff was a great technician. He took the time (actually a lot of time) to take the panels off of our Trane air conditioner and give it a good cleaning. He stated that the unit was very dirty and definitely needed a cleaning. He even went the extra mile and found a water outlet off of the washing machine to use to spray off the unit. He had to use that outlet because our two outside faucets had low pressure due to construction on our street. The cleaning of the unit had not been done in two previous annual service calls so we were grateful to him to do this. we would recommend your company and Jeff H. to anyone who is looking for HVAC work. read more

We have used Hoekstra Heating & Air Conditioning since the 1970's. They are outstanding in their knowledge and service, and I would not even consider any other company. Jeff H has been the technician that has serviced both my furnace and air conditioning the last several times. I require an 8:00 AM appointment, and he's always right on time. He is knowledgeable, efficient, completes the job within expected time, and floors and working area are neat and clean when he finishes. Lived in this present area since 2004. The house came with basic Carrier equipment. Enjoyed a long warranty and great quality service from Hoekstra in Homewood. Even after the warranty was over, they came out and maintained this equipment each year. There have been instances where repairs were needed, out of warranty and the staff and owners did all they could to minimize, or in some cases, absorb the cost of the repair both parts and labor. Great service great staff, great rapport with this local company. I highly recommend them. And while some people feel the cost is too high, you know you get what you pay for! Fred B. My Husband, Gregg just had these folks instal a new furnace in my Mother-in-law's house. They first came and gave us a written estimate. After doing our research they were the best value. My Husband scheduled the installation and the installer came right on time (a few minutes early in fact) and had all the parts and was ready to get right at it. He laid down drop clothes everywhere around the work area and gave us a detailed explanation of what he was going to do. He worked straight through lunch and finished ahead of time. I called Hoekstra for an appointment to clean and check our furnace. The serviceman that was sent was Jonah. He was prompt, and courteous. He explained everything he was doing and answered all my questions. He went overboard in explaining how to do certain things so I could understand how and when I should do them. Five stars are not enough for this young man. He deserves at least 10 stars for his service. I will ask for Jonah this coming summer for air condition service. He is our go to guy at Hoekstra! JOhn H was here this morning to do routine maintenance on our furnace and AC installed 2 years ago by Hoekstra. Terrific job cleaning my furnace after a recent renovation. He even cleaned the dust on the floor and around the water heater! Very polite and wore booties in the house. Hoekstra did a great job when they replaced our furnace and AC. They did additional duct work which has made a huge difference in the comfort level of our family room. They were not the cheapest bid we got, but we were impressed with amount of work they did in their proposal to solve our problem. We highly recommend Hoekstra! read more

My central air conditioner unit is now 15 years old and I make sure I keep it working with an annual check up. Today was 90 degrees and the appointment was just in time with summer getting off to a hot start! I had an appointment between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and he arrived around 2:30 p.m. Jeff H. from Hoekstra HVAC was my technician. He was pleasant, professional, and seemed to enjoy what he was doing! He took his time made sure everything was working properly. Todd Kearny just left my house. I have been up all night struggling with issues with my furnace/thermostat. Todd was extremely courteous, professional & thorough. Even after he found & resolved the problem he continued on to further double check everything until he thoroughly investigated every possibility to ensure that nothing else could have been affected by my problem & I would not have to call for another technician to return. I rarely do reviews but I'm doing one now because my experience with Hoekstra was so positive. Everyone I dealt with was polite and professional starting with Brenda who took my initial call for service after my AC stopped working to Jeff the repair tech who came out initially to Brian who designed a complete new system when we realized that was needed. The job took awhile but the installation crew were all patient and thorough. They functioned as a highly trained team. Tim H has been performing our Spring and Fall a/c & furnace maintenance for several seasons. We find him to be a pleasant & accommodating young man who performs a very thorough service. He seems interested in providing us with the best possible treatment for our units as if they were his own or for a family member. He has also explained how to get the most from our HVAC system. Hoekstra HVAC has always been very good to me. They go out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I called yesterday to change my scheduled appointment and they were able to send Tim H out today. Tim is excellent at what he does. He is polite and knowledgeable about his job. Tim has done my cleanings twice now and I feel confident with the work he has done. Hoekstra is our go to HVAC guys. We have them come out to check the air conditioner and furnace once a year (because we never have problems with their work). The Technicians that come are always polite and knowledgeable. They explain what they are doing and if they see anything of concern. Edwardo was here to correct a problem from 2 previous HVAC companies, was here when he said he would be. Did his prep work with runners and tools, looked over what needed to be done, realized he had to come up with plan "B" to make sure the job was done according to the manufacturer standards and he got the job done.
