We have been loyal customers for years We had them run pre-purchase inspection of a car we were thinking of buying. They said all was fine so we bought the car. Six months later, after driving locally to and from work, we just brought in car for state inspection and Hogan now tells us ALL brake rotors need replacing. I purchased my son some tires, and he went here to fit them and balance them. He is young and looks younger, and they totally ripped him off. I am really not surprised to see such low ratings, in theater reviews, as we will certainly NOT be returning. I mean, $ 45.00 (which I negotiated down from 50.00 per tire, when I got there) to fit one tire? Should be about $ 20.00, then "Premium Wheel Balancing"? WTF is that? Gold weights? On the way there, they called him to say that the check engine light was on and did he want them to scan the car (for more money) and find out what it was. I got there and the light was not on, and never had been. The list of reasons, was, we brought the tires in, so they charge more to mount them and that the tech made a mistake, it was the TPIS light, not the engine light. My honest opinion, is that they saw an 18 year old kid and figures, what can I get out of him. I see this company as completely and wholey untrustworthy. Use them, at your peril. I certainly will not, and used this as a good lesson to my son, about how you have to be cautions, as there are a lot of companies and people out there that will rip you off, if you go in uninformed. read more

I had such a great experience at Hogan & Sons today I simply had to write a review. After a busy morning, I came out to my car only to find a flat tire. Thankfully I was very close to Hogan and Sons and drove my car to them. Pete met me with a cheerful smile and a true willingness to help. He got me an uber back to my place while they worked on my car and even advised me to check with Costco (where I had purchased my original tires) to see if anything was still under warranty. Despite the clearly busy shop this morning, Pete shuttled me back to the shop and had me back on the road before I knew it. They are thorough and efficient and as far as I know, honest about pricing and work needed. their hours are very convenient and they have a shuttle that will pick you up or drop you off. A new review for a more recent visit on 3/24. I took my Chevy G20 Van for new tires and alignment. David and team were awesome at ensuring my van was schedule before my Friday trip. David also helped me out with ensuring my pricing was as close to cost-effective as the Goodyear site was offering. (Goodyear site wasn't working correctly). I receive a call/VM that afternoon about additional items that need to be addressed (love the upselling as I am in sales) and how they broke something while lifting the van in the air. The VM mentions they can fix all the items for $2k and what THEY broke for $270. I call back to ask why they would even think asking for me to pay for something they broke was even remotely ok to ask of me. I guess the worst thing I could say is "no". I just had my van raised on a lift the day prior and he didn't break anything. LOL. They ended up fixing what they broke (didn't see any pictures as I requested), and they sent me off. I do agree that what they requested to be fixed needs addressing, but this latest experience made me realize that even your go to guys will not always deliver. I deducted 1-star for the voicemail asking me to pay for something they broke, and another 2-stars for the overall experience. Might go back, might not. read more

Just left the sterling location from picking my 2500HD up from an alignment. They only did half of the alignment. They adjusted the toe portion with the tie-rods, but the more labor portion with the control arms for the camber and caster they did nothing, said there was no adjustment. But the before and after numbers on the alignment sheet were the exact same showing they didn't even try. Do not know if this was laziness or incompetence on their part. I immediately left the sterling location and went to the Leesburg location. Talked to the service manager and lead tech, they would not say it but you could tell both agreed no effort was done. Hello To Whom It May Concern, I have had the worst experience of my life at the Hogan and Sons in Sterling, Virginia. I am not the type to ever complain or contact corporate, but my experience was one that needs to be addressed. I brought in my Toyota for a blown tire about three weeks ago. I had two tires replaced and surprise alignment for another $100 (thats fine). I was able to order the tires online, paid for them, and then Hogan and Son's let me know that those tires were no longer in stock. I had to work and call customer service to get money back for the tires and purchase new ones. (I guess that is also fine.). My vehicle was kept overnight because the wheel alignment machinery was not working, so I paid for an Uber to work for 50 miles (understandable sometimes) I picked up my vehicle the next day to a terrible whirring, grinding noise that was cyclical in nature and deafeningly loud. It had lots of friction and was under the driver's side when accelerating or decelerating above 50 mph. I brought back my vehicle and the mechanics apologized that they had messed up. My vehicle was kept overnight. I picked up me vehicle the next day and nothing had been fixed or improved. I dropped of my vehicle a THIRD time, and returned to get it a fourth time. There was no apology from Jake, the manager, who claimed that they couldn't do any refunds back on my credit card. I went ahead and called another location and discovered that that is absolutely something they can do. I was offered a store credit (????? what?) and pushed to get more new tires. Are you kidding me? For the THREE weeks my vehicle was out of commission for a blown tire, this is inexcusable. I need some money back for the inconvenience alone. Astounding. I have already contacted Corporate. They got me right in for a tpms check and a balance and rotation. Called said car was done but was low on fluids and that. Told them to change the oil since it needed it. Went to pick it up and my tpms wasn't fixed and was told it was two that needed changed. It it was going to be over $300. When it was only one that my monitor was saying. Now today none of my sensors are reading anything, when all but one was on yesterday. I don't know if that they shut them all off till I put new ones in or what. I have had a few good and a few poor experiences here. The last one was the worst, I first brought our SUV in for an oil change, nothing was wrong with it, they did the oil change and gave me a laundry list of things wrong with out vehicle. Told me I need to fix the rack and pinion and tires to pass inspection at the end of the month, and quoted me around $1,600. After this visit the power steering began to stop working. I brought it back in to have a pressure check done was told I had a coolant leak that needed to be fixed in order to pass inspection. They gave me a new list of problems with the vehicle and a new quote now totaling $5000. The guy then tried to sell me his Van for $4000 say it was better than paying to fix mine. I took my SUV to another mechanic and was able to get it to pass inspection for $800 in repairs. They miss quoted the parts that needed to be fixed, said other parts were defective that weren't. They said I had a crack in my Y pipe($200 part) on my exhaust. It was the flex pipe($30 part). I will never go back, even though I had a few good experiences in the past, they cannot be trusted. read more

The one thing I can really say impressed me about this place is that once they figured out that I wasn't going to take their assessment and roll with it, they quickly backtracked half of the line items which dropped the price to less than half of the initial amount. The items that they were asked to remove consisted of items that, absolutely, did not need to be replaced. (Totaling around $700 in parts/labor) Watch these guys very carefully before you hand them your payment. As a single female who has owned several cars in my lifetime I have experienced my share of auto shops/car dealerships/Mechanics frivolous attempts to take advantage of me as a consumer. I'm always apprehensive about stepping foot into these places because my experience has been filled with double talk, lies and straight up B.S. I must say that all that doubt was washed away as soon I stepped foot into Hogans & Sons. I was greeted promptly by Manager Alexis Rodriguez (yes like the baseball player lol). Despite working on several task at the same time he never let me feel ignored or unimportant. He listened to my needs and offered me suggestions and insight on current rebates and sales. Never once did I feel pressured or pushed by Alexis into a sale. Also I must mention the entire staff including Dana and Gabriel greeted me with a hello and made me feel comfortable. That might be a small thing to some but for me it says alot when people seem to genuinely like their job. I got a brand new set of GoodYear Tires plus some under the hood work. Also, they said one of me axle leaking oil and needed to get it fix ASAP and quoted me another $619. I denied their service and took it to the dealer. Surprise! it passed the state inspection and they found no leaking axle. Please stay away from this money hungry people! read more

They "fix" your car after you pay them an insane fee to "diagnose" the problem. Then, after it is "fixed" you leave only to find more things wrong with your vehicle - you bring it back in and pay the fee to diagnose again! It is a vicious circle. They advertise inpsections and tires. One time, we took our car in for another problem and they let us drive away with an expired inspection and a semi flat tire...um...they didn't even notice this?? Don't even think about questioning them about this practice - I made that mistake and the guy behind the counter raised his voice at me and started putting my intelligence AND my car down! Came in for an oil change and tire rotation ... Left frustrated and severely disappointed. I usually get my car serviced at Koons Ford and have had nothing but good experiences there as well as good service prices. Went here because I was over mileage and couldn't get an appointment at Koons, impatience got the best of me. Hogan and Sons charged me $88 for an oil change and tire rotation, robbery. Especially the $20 for tire rotation. Then to add insult to injury the front desk guy had the nerve to recommend I needed close to $900 in additional repairs. Among these repairs were a brake fluid flush and replacement of various fluids he didn't name. But the best recommended repair was my upper and lower radiator hoses, because my 7 year old cherry of a Lincoln "might" have dried out hoses due to age. I paid the robbery oil change and tire rotation prices to get out of there and vow never to return. Granted I'm no mechanic but do know my way around under the hood due to working on family cars with my dad growing up. Hoses are good and I'll have Koons look at the brake fluid during my next oil change there. If you read nothing else in this post read this: GO HERE FOR SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! read more

I took my wife's car for an oil change and tire rotation. When I drove out the tire started making a weird noise. Took it back and they refused to acknowledge that it might be their fault. Finally figured out that they left an extra nut in my tire. After a long argument they fixed it. Again drove out and my axle started making a weird noise. Right after having our vehicle serviced there, it ran horribly. I took it elsewhere, no longer trusting Hogan & Sons to service it. Discovered they damaged a spark plug wire. When presented with the bill, they denied fault, and claimed they should had a chance to fix it first. Maybe they were right about that part, Maybe they were not, but there is NO WAY I take them up on that. New customer? You apologize and eat the cost of the spark plug wire. Then they are pretty darn loyal Anyway thanks to Yelp, I now I get to tell everyone about the experience. You know they must have made one of their customers really upset when you find a copy of that year's Washington Consumer's Checkbook in their waiting area -- because there's no way in heck they would purposefully put a review that was that bad about their own place in their own lobby! My son took our car there for inspection. They said the brake line hoses was bad and the brake line needed to be flushed. It would be $550 to repair and they'd do it In two days. REJECTION. I suggested he take the car a couple places for estimates. 2 other places said there was nothing wrong. When we took it back they said it was a cracked hose and would be $170. The 2 other places said they would have passed the car. We do not mind the cost but it seems like this was intentionally done to get more $$$. We are new to the area and will never go back.
