Good, cheap pan pizza Still trying to hit all the places in my area. Holiday was one of the smaller shops that switched its location, so came here to give it a try. Restaurant is a little hard to find. It's a small shack with a sign obscured by trees. Once you go in it's segmented to a traditional pick up on the left, dining area on the right. It's very much a mom and pop shop, with a nonna manning the register and pop making pies. Both were kind and accommodating. They recommended their fish dishes, but I opted for a medium ricotta pizza with some meatballs added. Got my pie after a little bit of a wait. Took it home and dug in. The crust is a traditional pan pie crust. Fresh dough and ample toppings. Cooked through, good amounts of ricotta and the meatballs were reasonably tender. Their sauce is a tad sweet and a tad watery. They knew this, so they go very light on their sauce. This led to a properly cooked pie, but was missing the tomato sauce acidic sweet bite to offset the salty cheeses. The fact that they corrected for watery sauce shows a level of care and commitment that beats a lot of pizza places. However, it's a lack of knowing how to fix it that leads to an imbalance in flavors. A sprinkle of panko on the pizza crust can help leach some of the water out. Simmering the tomato sauce, and brushing the topping side of the dough with oil can all help. Overall, a good pie for the price. Ordered a gluten free Hawaiian pizza and a meatball grinder...the pizza crust was very good and the overall pizza was great..the grinder roll was a very fresh and the whole grinder easily could be two meals..Holiday continues to excell!!!! read more

The dining room was thoughtfully designed to shelter guests from the noise of a kitchen, the owner is engaging and accommodating, to special requests, and the food is on par with any quality pizza/ Italian restaurant. Called at 9:25 to order a pizza, guy answers the phone "hello" ... doesn't give the name of the place so I'm wondering if I called the wrong number. I ask if this is Holiday Pizza and his response is 'yeah'... I waited a few seconds in silence expecting a 'how can I help you' or 'can i take your order'... so I ask if I can place an order and he says 'we're already closed guy'. Your own website says you're open til 10 but I would have been cool with an explanation that you closed early because of weather or because it was a slow night... instead I'm left playing guess what combinations of questions I have to ask to get service. Been coming here for years, from the time I was a kid until now at 21. Billy, the owner, has been nothing but thoughtful, kind, and welcoming every time I walk in the door. He always has me try something new and I've yet to have a meal I didn't love. Since being in the new location the ambiance has been very pleasant in the dining room. It is carefully designed to minimize noise from the kitchen and offer a peaceful dining experience. This place will always be a 10/10 in my book! read more

Just had the salmon dinner. My wife had fish and chips. Fabulous on both counts. Fresh, well-presented, and the best we've had in our 7 years living in Ellington. The pizza is also better than any in town, and Holiday sells pizza slices, which is not too common in these parts. I recommend this establishment highly. Very disappointed in this place. We've had a couple other pizzas from here last year that were great so we decided to order from here again. I honestly think this was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. First of all, the pizza was not cooked enough, it was doughy and the cheese was not bubbly like it should be. Second, it was all cheese and no sauce, there was what seemed like a tablespoon of sauce on the whole thing!! If I wanted a white pizza, I would have ordered a white pizza. The service here is wonderful! everyone is so nice. I ordered a large pizza a couple months back and it was deliciously hot. The pizza was ready within 10 mins! It was deff really cheesy, probably one of the cheesiest pizzas I've eaten. Only thing that I didn't like was how greasy it was. I had to use a few napkins to blot the extra oils. This is getting 2 stars instead of 1 because the guy who cashed me out was very nice. I should also mention this was the first and last time I will go there. That being said... I ordered a calzone and grabbed some fried mozzarella. For the calzone, it was raw and the cheese wasn't melted. By raw I mean sooo raw that I tried reheating it in the oven at home. Very unappetizing. The mozzarella had barely any cheese in them and were soo greasy. Definitely over cooked. I didn't think you could screw up mozzarella sticks. Stopped in on a slow Monday night. Only two other couples in the dinning room but the take out window business was brisk. I ordered the fish and chips along with a baked potato. Delicious!! Fresh lightly breaded Cod on top of some crisp French fries. My dad ordered a BLT. Lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and flavor full and the sandwich had a generous portion of crunchy bacon. Had a terrible experience here years ago and decided to give them another try. Called them up and asked for delivery. They put me on hold and said they won't deliver to me because I had a dispute with the owner. Won't be giving them another try now. Immature and petty business owners. Eat here at your own risk. I have eaten here twice in the last year. The first time I got the Pasta Platter, it had manicotti, ravioli and stuffed shells. The center was not hot so I bummed out a little bit but it tasted good, the sauce and everything. You go in knowing everything is going to be frozen here. My boyfriend's entree also was not hot enough. The 2nd time around we ordered a take out pizza and it was ok, typical for the Ellington area. Not greasy, good sauce, plenty of cheese. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired here so we haven't gone back since, but might. There is a bar in the middle of the restaurant that is unusable. Easily the best pizza in Ellington. My favorite is a large extra cheese with pepperoni, meatball, ricotta and bell peppers. They often have homemade brownies for sale which are always delicious. The pasta platter is always amazing! Also, they have peppercorn parmigian salad dressing which I enjoy on my salads. This place has been a staple here in town since I was a kid. In the past my husband and I have had good service hear and good food. However, this weekend we ordered a very simple order which was a cheeseburger with no bun and a side of double coleslaw (in place of the french fries), wings and a side of sausage. It took them 90 MINUTES for the food to arrive. When we called to inquire he stated "oh we got slammed so it's going to be longer, sorry". We called a second time to ask again where our food was and he again sarcastically said sorry and that they could throw in a 2 liter bottle of soda. When my husband told them he doesn't drink soda they said they didn't know and would put something in free the next time we ordered. When we finally got our food at 7:30pm after ordering it at 5:45pm the order was WRONG! I didn't get my side of coleslaw or any side for that matter and my cheeseburger was missing cheese. We paid $24 for a side of wings, sausage and a hamburger with a piece of lettuce and tomato. We drove down to the restaurant and returned the food and our order. We will not be going back and if they are "so slammed" they need to hire more cooks and delivery drivers. They had two cooks back there and one driver. Unacceptable. read more

Ate lunch here for the first time to check it out. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and was told it came with curly fries or french fries if I would like. I opted for the curly fries and then was charged an extra .75 cents on the bill. My sandwich was made with 1 slice of American cheese, not what I'd call a grilled cheese. Bread was grilled nicely, but that's all it tasted like, grilled bread. The restaurant was empty and now I know why. Carpets are stained, bathroom was out of hand soap. went for dinner with my boyfriend and worst food in ellington!! his whole grinder prob had 6 pieces of uncooked fake salami. took meat from one half and put on other half to make proper!! they forgot the cheese and covered with an over abundance of lettuce. my eggplant was not extra crispy like i asked!! the sauce was so sweet didn't understand that! but i guess we shouldn't have expected anything better upon leaving noticed stains in the carpeting booths were falling apart and the cook did not look well groomed nothing to cover greasy hair!! don't know what happened used to be excellent but last time there was 17 years ago will not go back read more

NEVER AGAIN!!!! Just had the chicken cordon bleu dinner and it was HIDEOUS processed meat and bread crumbs (likely manufactured in China) with a minuscule bite of ham and maybe 1/2 slice of American cheese. Seriously, the menu should have said, "we do not have a chef, we have owners (the waitress I'm certain is one of them) who heat up frozen food that is bought at the likes of a Dollar Store." The salad was tasteless iceberg, nasty tomato two slices of cucumber and a smither of onion. The only thing palatable was the baked potato for which plenty of sour cream and butter were provided. Still, my dinner partner and I ate barely half of the meal. Even the garlic bread was off. There was one person waiting tables, and when I told her how much of an insult the meal was, she apologized and came back with the check for the entire amount. The owners (likely a husband and wife) did not understand that they had been given ample opportunity to knock a few dollars off each meal and possibly salvage a customer. We paid the bill. I do not tip for crappy service, nor do I tip the owner of any establishment. On the way out, I stopped at the window and said, "I just have to tell you that any self-respecting restaurant would have done something about the bill," when the "waitress" interrupted and said, "I would have if you hadn't eaten the whole meal. If you had said something sooner..." I reminded her that our plates contained more than half of our meals." She continued yelling that we had eaten that slop. I just walked out.
