Stopped by Holly and Hudson to get my nails done for my engagement party. They take walk-ins so I was seated immediately. Terry helped me with my manicure and Theresa helped me with my pedicure. Terry helped me pick out a shade thats white but almost opaque. I believe it's called Funny Bunny. She shaped my nails slightly almond so that it looks longer too. Terry took her time with my nails and really made sure to clip my cuticles as much as possible. However, she over-clipped one of my cuticles and it tore off some extra skin making it sting during the UV. Nonetheless, the. nails came out gorgeous and I got lots of compliments at my engagement party. As for my pedicure, Theresa did a great job of paying attention to detail on my toes. She did not rush the process and took her time making sure my feet were cleaned and that my toes had the perfect amount of polish on them. Overall decent experience here. Both Terry and Theresa were extra friendly and did a great job with my nails. As for pricing, definitely steeper than other nail salons as its a chain and is located at the Irvine Spectrum, so expect to pay a premium for your nail services! read more

Came in with my friends for gel x removal (as well as extension for me). Asked if I could get simple manicure once remove as cut do the cuticules. We were told it's $25. As my technician did my nails, she used the tool and it went in my skin a few times hurting and it felt burning warm at times. I thought it was best to just remove the glue and not do anything else at this point. When she said she was done. A lot of glue were left, which I said it and she said shed take care of it. She did and I had still so much left but I felt awk to say it (see photos) When it was done we went front desk, the lady there did not give any hello. She said "do you know how much it is to removal gel x c done outside our place?" In a non friendly tone. I said we were told $25 she said ok. Then said ok pay . I looked there was no machine to pay I asked where to do it. she said on her desk. We had to put our hands over and down and bend over. She could have brought the machine on the top of shelf of the desk. Then we said thank you. She didn't say anything we said bye. She didn't say anything neither. She was rude. We definitely will not be back. There are cheaper places with much better quality service and courtesy. Update: 4 days later and two of my fingers are infected. Still have glue on some. I used to love coming here, but unfortunately, I had a terrible experience yesterday and won't be returning. I came in for a mani/pedi and needed my builder gel removed before my manicure. I've been getting builder gel for years, so I'm familiar with the removal process. While using the drill, I repeatedly told the manicurist that my nails were getting very thin and that the filing was hurting. She continued until I had to pull my hand away because of the pain. My nails have never looked or felt this damaged after an appointment, and they were still throbbing the next day to the point that I had trouble sleeping. When I spoke to the manager/scheduler, I was told that this was "normal." I also explained that I felt the manicurist wasn't listening when I told her I was uncomfortable, but the manager said she understood me clearly. If she understood me, I'm not sure why she continued filing until I had to pull my hand away. For a place known as a luxury spa, I expected much better care and customer service. Instead, I was told to go to Target and buy nail strengthener. I've been going to Holly and Hudson since it opened at the Spectrum, so this was especially disappointing. I have been coming here for over 14 years, since they were Happy Nails over by Target. The new front desk lady, Tracy, is horrible! She is messing up the schedules, not putting appointments in the system, booking wrong times based on what the nail technicians need and tell her. She's new and she doesn't allow the technicians that have been here for years to even turn on the air conditioning for their customers if she has not arrived at work yet. Plus she is not nice and warm and welcoming when you walk through the front door. She's just horrible and I hope they let her go because she is ruining their business. Linda is amazing though! She is so nice and talks to everyone. She should be the only one allowed at the front desk and booking appointments. I hope they let Tracy go asap! read more

Went here twice and the ambiance is pretty good. Not necessarily a dirty place, but not the cleanest for the upscale vibe they're trying to go for. The first time I went - came in on a Saturday with my husband and we got manicures. We got the most expensive packages since we were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to relax. Definitely relaxing and my gel was pretty solid. I got cut twice unfortunately when the lady was cutting my cuticles. Didn't hurt much just annoying afterwards. Aka squeezing ‍ limes, lol. My husband was happy with his service and he got his nails buffed. The 2nd time I went was a weekday and I just needed a color change on my toes. The lady was very nice and it seemed like she was doing a great job, but I got home and noticed she did not clean up my nail beds correctly. I chose red, it definitely showed on every single toe. I requested a simple polish change, but was told "no" and pressured into paying for a full manicure, with staff demanding I cut and clean my cuticles when I specifically asked not to. They also attempted to force a $15 upcharge on my 2-year-old, who obviously cannot sit still for a full service. They make it impossible to pay for basic services, ensuring a bill over $100. Pricing listed: Basic Pedicure ($38), Gel Add-on ($22), Manicure ($25), Gel Add-on ($18), Kid's Polish ($10/each). The final straw was at checkout: I was aggressively asked if I was going to tip the other staff members. Tipping is a choice, not a mandatory fee, and this inquiry was unprofessional and hostile. The first time I came Millie helped me with my pedicure for a wedding with a white pearl color polish and did such an amazing job. She was super sweet and paid close attention to detail to make sure my feet were looking their best! Teri has done my nails 3 times now. Her and Millie work great together and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I showed Teri ideas of designs and she nailed them. First was a design for a wedding, then she did a regular gel manicure (not pictured). The orange nails were based off a dress I was wearing for my own engagement shoot. She takes great care and time in making the design. Teri's fun to chat with and is very friendly! Her schedule is easy to work with and is always available when I need to come in for my nails. Whenever I get my nails done here they are so sturdy and never chip! I work a lot and am rough with my hands so that's saying a lot. They will definitely be my go to people :) read more

This was my first time getting my nails done here. I got my usual gel x. I just wanted to get solid color because I only trust my nail girl for designs but she moved to AZ so I'm in the process of finding someone new. The lady said she wanted to put a snowflake because it was the holidays (I am behind on my review so this is a few months behind) I thought she was going to draw it per usual but she put a clear sticker and then clear gel on top. I thought it was cool at first but then it came out like bumpy and not smooth. She was so excited about it and I just didn't say anything. Usually my gel x can stay on for 3+ weeks and in less than 3 weeks they started to rip off or crack. The sticker started to come off. One of my nails chipped off. Also, there was like a bubble on one of my nails that like popped by 2 weeks and the gel layer cracked. I couldn't stand it and I went to another location to remove them and get a new set. Location is nice. It's in the spectrum near the Ferris wheel. Too bad it didn't work out for me. read more

Got a mani/pedi while at the spectrum. I've seen this place before and decided to give it a try. For a Saturday, the place was lonely (which I loved) so I was seated right away (they take walk ins all day :)) I really enjoyed both services. Both Mimi and Lisa were nice and detailed. My nails look beautiful. It is expensive compared to other nail salons; but you can expect that for a salon inside this mall. Place is big, nicely decorated, and very conveniently located. If you a mom like me, hubby can play with the kiddos in the artificial grass right outside the salon while you get pampered :) as moms, we need some me time and i finally had it. read more

Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance for a Thursday morning at 10am for me and my mom for my birthday. The place was already fairly crowded when we arrived. Got seated after about 5 minutes and was told that someone would start working on me, but that the other technician was running late - "stuck on the 405 freeway". Other customers had two or three techs working on them. At 10:30 we had to flag down the receptionist to ask what was going on. Finally another tech finished with someone else and came over to work on my mom, but she presented as very unhappy; not the person you want to send in to "rescue" a customer service snafu. I asked if they were willing to give us any accommodation, and the most they said they could offer was $5 off my mom's pedicure only. And the originally assigned tech never did appear. Things happen, but I didn't feel like the staff was really sorry or trying to make it right. My pedicure itself was okay but hard to enjoy when I was worried about my mom being ignored. Went here a few weeks ago because it was, like, a gift and it's close to work, but I will not be coming back. There's a major lack of skill and knowledge, and a lack of care/gentle touch. I don't remember the name of my tech because I was a walk-in and I was only getting a gel polish change since I had just gotten my nails done. The place was clean, and the tech was nice enough but a little pushy, trying to upsell me on services when I was very clear I only wanted a polish change. The polish change itself wasn't great; it was uneven, with bubbles and lumps, and polish sticking out on the sides of my nails. She also had no idea what fairy dust is or how to apply it, which further showed her lack of experience/knowledge. At first, I was just going to leave the experience in the past. But when I had my next appointment, my usual manicurist explained that I had red discoloration at the base of my nails that had grown out since getting these done. She said it's called "Rings of Fire," which happens when someone is too rough removing gel or using the wrong bit for removal or filing too much. There's really nothing that can be done except wait for it to grow out. That confirmed it for me. I won't be coming back. It's an okay place if you're in a bind and need something done ASAP; but there are better nail salons out there, and it's worth the wait to go somewhere else. read more

The nail lady (Terri) is so sweet to me and even with my dislocated shoulder that was in a sling she was very gentle.

Over priced not worth the quality they are giving. They did a lazy job removing my cuticle and applying the polish. They also shaved my bfs nail down so much it was hurting him. And when asked to do a quick "S" they couldn't even do that...if ur charging 40$ for a simple manicure at least do a good job. read more

Absolutely destroyed both my big toenails. Nails were strong and healthy prior to this. A section of my toenail on both big toes were filed down too much with an e--file and there's pain when barely touched (right side- 1/4 of the toenail on top, left side - pain on 1/2 the nail all the way down to cuticle). The polish also came out lumpy. Very disappointing as it took me a long time to have healthy nails and they ruined them. read more

Second, I asked for a regular gel pedicure and when I was all done, they added on a bunch of other things, even though they repeated back to me a regular pedicure. Nancy is the manager. She was horrible. I called and asked to put me down for myself and my daughter and her 4 friends. She said that I have to put a deposit down. No problem. I was ready to give her my cc number. She said that I have to come in in person to put down a deposit. Huh? I live an hour away. How can I go in to do that? I have been a customer for 4-5 years Initially, they had perfect materials and good work, but it has become awful with the change of manager, and some of the best workers left the salon and the use of low-quality materials. $60 pedicure, you'd at least expect some real callus removal?? She barely touches my feet with a pumas stone and then massages you for 30 seconds! She literally used the filer on my calluses after to try and get rid of my calluses! HELLO!! How about a proper callus removal?? They don't ask what pedicure package you want, so if you want callus remover and a proper massage, DO NOT COME HERE! She couldn't even get the dirt out of my nails. I gave Holly and Hudson Nail Salon a chance and I am so glad I did! I was worried after reading some negative reviews on Yelp but I spoke to the front desk employee, told her what I was looking for and who I wanted to see (thanks for the positives reviews guys!) so she put me with Annie for pedicure and Lucy for a new acrylic set with gel polish. Annie is so sweet and did an amazing job with my pedicure. She was very detailed and I loved how she did everything that I would normally have to ask for in other salons. Lucy was kind and did a great job in my acrylic nails. I will definitely be back! Nail salon has really nice decor, is spacious and very clean. I went in there expecting the service i normally get and instead left with absolutely botched nails. I expressed concerns about the polish being tacky and the person doing my nails disappeared for a bit then came back with what i can only assume is the same bottle. The final job looks like my nails were done at home. I was completely shocked as this is the first time i leave the institution having had this disappointing of an experience. My cuticles are dry and all over the place, the polish edges are jagged, uneven, and frankly embarrassing. I got a random string stuck on my thumb in the polish and the person at the front desk just said oh yeah we'll reapply that one without any acknowledgment for how poorly the rest of my nails looked. I was so disappointed by the end of the experience I just wanted to get out of there, this was supposed to be a pleasant birthday pampering session and instead turned into disappointment. Great atmosphere and location in the Irvine Spectrum however, not every technician knows how to do nails or at least up to the standard where you would feel comfortable paying for the services rendered. I'm grateful for one of the lead nail techs stepping in to correct the mistakes my technician did. I didn't catch her name, but she was very kind and calmly cleaned up and saved the disaster left by another tech. So I do suggest that if you're unsatisfied say something don't walk out disappointed because you are a patron and I'm sure someone would be happy to assist. read more

This is my second time here and decided to bring along my bestie for acrylics. We called ahead of time and set up an appointment for gel manicure ( for me ) and acrylic full set for her . They confirmed the price of acrylic being $65 and an extra $10 for design. When we got there , the receptionist confirmed gel manicure and acrylics full set and when we got sat down, my friend's nail tech said who's doing the gel x . My friend said her but didn't think much of it since we had already confirmed acrylics at front desk and just thought gel x meant acrylics to them. Her nail tech could not do the design that she wanted and instead of telling her in the beginning, she waited until many failed attempts later. In the end, they ended up charging her a different price saying that we chose gel x instead of acrylics . When we said we never asked for gel x , the front desk said that gel x was better for the nails anyway. My friend will never come back here and neither will I. read more
