Nothing special here. Honestly, bordering on 2 stars. My SSU eggs on pork were way over cooked. The yolks were medium - almost hard - when the whole point is to have the yolk run into the rest of the dish. And, again, they're sold as SSU. Her chicken and waffles was pretty sad. Just some grocery-store-quality tenders on some pretty bland waffles with basic, commercial syrup. Just because Poipu is lacking in breakfast joints doesn't mean a "meh" place deserves more stars. read more

Two appetizers and four different entrees, each one prepared perfectly. Server was very attentive and helpful with selections. All tables are outdoor dinning with option for covered area. I'd be tempted to take a swimsuit and towel for the kids to have a dip on the large pool and hot tubs while sipping our last cocktail. Nice location. On the way out sneak in a night time volleyball game and putting green just past the parking lot - balls and clubs are provided. read more

We are staying at Koloa Landing (5-star accommodations) and our first night we just didn't want to go out for dinner, so we ordered in from Holoholo Grill. Service was excellent, but the meals were mediocre at best. We ordered three different salads and the pork lumpia. The lumpia were like egg rolls you can buy in the freezer section. The salads were small and unremarkable. And it was expensive. We've eaten at many local restaurants on the south shore since and Holoholo was by far the worst. read more

Came here the morning before flying home to have their banana macadamia nut pancakes and was not disappointed! They are delicious! And huge! They serve three on the plate, and two of them came home with me on the plane. They were still very good warmed up a day or two later. Our waitress was very friendly and packed us extra syrup and coconut sauce. If I come back to Kauai, I would definitely return here. read more

Friendly service, convenient location if you're staying at the Koloa Landing resort. The food we were served was either slightly warm (two steaks) where interestingly our server never asked how we would like them to be cooked or the food was cold - crabs legs which should have been steaming hot. We had to ask for more drinks - for a vacation spot where they make most of their profit from serving drinks that was odd at best. Basic outdoor over-priced hotel restaurant next to a noisy pool. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived for dinner after we could not find a table at the many very good restaurants in the Poipu area. Bad sign. The waitstaff was great, polite and attentive. The food and condiments were disappointing. We wanted to split a salad and have a couple of appetizers after a big lunch earlier in the day. We split a Ceasar salad, which was soggy, swimming in bottled dressing and had cherry tomatoes (?). It was as if they had no idea how to make a Ceasar salad in an expensive restaurant. It was $15. I had fried Calamari, appetizer, which was in VERY large pieces (too big to eat in one bite), rubbery and difficult to cut (they brought a steak knife), heavily breaded, soggy and greasy (made me ill later that evening). It came with only a1950s-era cocktail sauce. Again, it was like they had no idea how to prepare fried calamari in Kauai(!) Another $15. Finally my wife had breaded little fried chicken cubes and got a side of rice. It was OK and tender, but again bland and greasy. She had to request soy sauce for the rice. It was $17.50 with the rice. Two glasses of wine and a tip and it was $78.00. Not remotely worth it. read more

Came for lunch. The menu was a selection of appetizers, salads, entrees and flat breads. Had the chicken flatbread, wagyu burger and ribs. Loved the cheese on the flatbread, I believe it was chicken pesto - yummy. The burger was filling with a nice "relish" of sweetness and savory. So easy to get filled up. If you need a full meal, the ribs are it! Not your typical BBQ ribs, more like a sweet Asian style flavor with a nice slaw. Everything was so tasty and savory! read more

We really appreciated the exceptional courtesy and welcoming spirit of the staff! We have a special needs teenager and dining out is sometimes unpredictable for us as a family. Overall, our experience at Holoholo was average. It is located in the Koloa Landing Resort and we had a dinner reservation for a weekday night. They seemed to have a lot of people working, but it took a while for someone to greet us. There were a lot of takeout orders and poolside orders they were filling and the dining room has somewhat slow service. Beware that the jalapeno mango margarita is spicy and gives a little burn in the throat! The fried chicken bites were good - not amazing. The wagyu burger was the best thing our party ate off the menu, and the truffle mushroom flatbread. The fish'n'chips were average - not super flavorful and the tartar sauce was not so great. read more

The food is sketchy. My husband and I grabbed dinner here one night while in Kauai. The ambiance is great, and the menu is "affordable" (by Hawaii standards at least). We ordered three plates-two pupus and a poke bowl: the ribs, the coconut shrimp, and the traditional poke. The ribs were extremely disappointing and tasted like it was old pork that had been sitting in the fridge/freezer for a while, while the shrimp and poke looked delicious. We had to order a new set of shrimp because they were raw. The poke smelled fishy and as mentioned, the ribs tasted off. We left the restaurant praying we wouldn't get sick. read more

This poolside restaurant was the absolute best food that we found on Kauai. We stayed in Kauai for two weeks and went to many restaurants throughout each area of the island and we found that everyone in our group kept wanting this place more and more with each visit. This place has a nice island atmosphere with relaxing and upbeat music. We went here for lunch and multiple dinners and with our group size, we ordered just about everything on the menu, including some specials. I promise I'm not getting paid to say this but this food was absolutely to die for!! You could taste the freshness and the thoughtfulness of each ingredient in the dishes that made them stand above anything else on the island. Also, the staff was very personable and friendly/welcoming. Please do yourself a favor and come here towards the beginning of your trip because I promise that you will want to make a second visit before you head home! read more

This place serves really, really good food. Prices are high, but not for a hotel/resort town. Loved everything we ate over a six day stay.

We arrived last night and staying here at Koloa Landing. I had ramen which was okay, wife had burger which was really good. Service was awful, tried to order from our room since we were starving and have toddler hoped to have food ready when we arrived. Initally the took my order and said they would get it started but 20 mins later they called our room and said that we would have to order at restaurant. Once we got there and ordered again it took about 15 mins for 1 beer, 30 mins for food. I ordered another beer when food arrived which arrived 20 min later when I finished my meal. Wife was drking water had to ask several times before she could get refill. They were not too busy but waiter was busy chatting and hanging out all night. I woulndt go back for that reason. read more

I think of myself as a seafood Benedict connoisseur. If I go to a restaurant and they have a shrimp/crab/ lobster Benedict, I'm ordering it. The Holoholo Grill has the BEST crab Benedict I have ever eaten. Their Benedict opts for brioche rather than english muffins and a Lilikoi cream rather than hollandaise sauce.
