My experience with Shantel at customer service is the worst experience I've ever had. She made fun of my return reason and then made fun of me to her coworker right in front of my face. I had the best service on November 10, 2024. Dimitry was knowledgeable and super helpful when I was trying to figure out a gutter with an extension I needed for my home. He helped me measure my car to see how long of a gutter would fit and the right clasp to hold it in place with the extension I needed. He cut the gutter to size and made sure I knew how to install it when placing it at home. I am super thankful for the time he took to listen to my problem and help figure out a solution. Compared to Lowes, this place is great. I like that their garden section is like a garden. It's outside and lush and they have native hawaiian plants along with a lot of other different plants. The workers here are friendly and there are always a bunch stocking shelves and whatnot so it's easy to find someone to help you. My parents try to renovate and fix up their properties on their own and Home Depot is always their first store to check for things they might need. On my most recent visit, I purchased a new bathroom light and a new shower rod. I like how everything is displayed and how easy it is to find stock. I also like wandering around the kitchen cabinet section lol. I even like how it's located right next to Costco, so I can get a hot dog on my way home so easily! read more

Their ordering process can be lengthy, but that's usually because it has to travel from the mainland. It's like being a kid in a candy store but for adults. Since becoming a home owner, there seems to always be projects that need to be done. If I am not shopping for supplies at this location then I'll probably be at the pearl city store. They pretty much have everything that you would need for projects around the house from building a fence to lawn and garden products to barbecue supplies and even appliances. Home depot has it all. If or neighborhood City Mill doesn't have my items then I prefer Home Depot before Lowe's, because typically the prices are better then Lowe's as long as the items are in stock. Also, the curbside pickup at Home Depot is terrific. There is someone stationed at the curbside pickup. At Lowe's there is nobody there so curbside pick up is spotty. read more

Discriminated experience at Home Depot. I went to look for a lockbox today. I saw 2 associates chit chatting near by. I asked them where I'd find a lock box. All of sudden, they started to give me a dirty look. Fran, the African American lady, told me "Excuse you." I was surprised and asked her again."What are you saying to me?" Fran said " You interrupt our conversation so excuse you." The other lady, Caucasian told me" Lock box is at aisle 13." No apology what so ever. I was shocked. They were not on a break. They were by the registers waiting to offer services. The sales associates were actually bullying me. I reported this matter to the manager, but he did not seem care to be honest. I discussed this incidents to my friends, and they said those people work there are kind of mean to Asians. They went though similar experiences with non-Asian associates. This is the first time I have experienced ra**sm. I will make sure I call the Home Depot headquarter, but I really do not think they'd care. They are the ones that hired them in the first place, but I am giving a try. read more

Obviously Home Depot has the cheapest prices and most of everything you need but most of the workers there seem like they hate their life and don't want to be there. I know the hardships of working retail and I'm sure the customers who go to Home Depot aren't always the easiest to deal with, but DAMN these workers really wish to get paid to do nothing. I was never once asked while I was there if I needed help (which I really did) and all the workers I saw tried to avoid me because I looked like I had questions. I needed some paint and the two workers in the paint section just really didn't want to be bothered by ANYBODY. The older lady there had the nastiest attitude and when I asked her one simple question she looked at me as if I was stupid and then proceeded to answer with the snarkiest tone. I'm well aware that they are under staffed but that really doesn't give you the excuse to talk to people not only the way I experienced, but the way I overheard her talking to other people! Word of advice, if you don't like your job and it makes you miserable, just quit!!! Take it from somebody who has been in that position before. read more

Back in the day, we had to go to Eagle in Waikele for all our home remodeling needs. Then Lowe's bought Eagle, but a year later Home Depot opened its first store, and we've been a customer here ever since. It's location in Iwilei is perfectly situated in the middle of East and West Oahu, and in town, but not too close to town. It was nice back then with no Costco, no Best Buy, and just Home Depot. Now it's usually congested with cars everywhere going to Costco and it's gas station across the street and Best Buy nearby. Throughout the years, Home Depot always had more items, and more selection of items compared to Lowe's and City Mill. The prices are usually cheaper than its competitors. Home Depot has everything you need to improve or decorate your home. It also has a tools you can rent plus a large size flatbed truck. Sadly, they only have ONE truck to rent and if someone's using it, tough luck. It's $19 for the first 70 minutes and $5 per 15 minutes after. There's also an option to rent the truck for the whole day for $100. The only problem with Home Depot was it's terrible customer service. I've had numerous headaches and wasted a lot of time dealing with inadequate and subpar service with every part of the store, especially the customer service desk. My heart aches thinking about those times. However, during my recent visits to Home Depot, the customer service is much, much better than previous years. Each person I've dealt with there were very, very helpful, friendly, considerate, and pleasant. I need to give a shoutout to Harrison who is the most helpful and friendly employee there. Another good thing about Home Depot is that you can search your items on its website, and you can check how many items are left and it'll show you where it is exactly located in the store. All the signs in the aisles are clearly marked too, so you'll have no problem finding it. I used to support Lowe's since it first opened in Iwilei because the customer service was better and the items were better quality, but it's the opposite now. It's only Home Depot for me. But I'm still a huge Jimmie Johnson fan! Go #48! read more

As a contractor, I shop here 3 times a week. Selection of material is okay, stock depends on shipments/supply/demand. The reason I give two stars is most of the employees do everything they can to avoid helping the customer. When placing an order, multiple times the order has came in, but Home Depot never informed me. If you order from here be prepared to waste hours of your time hunting down items you paid for, not getting return phone calls and wondering why. There are some good employees in a few of the departments that go above and beyond, but more often then not, shopping here is very frustrating. read more

I bought a GE laundry center from Home Depot, but the washing machine drum blew up into hundreds of pieces at the end of the 3rd load of clothes ever washed. Home Depot referred me to GE for assistance but GE is refusing to replace the machine. the reviewer they sent out told me it cannot be repaired. GE says he told them it can be fixed. with hundred os tiny shards floating around sensitive electronics, I want the machine replaced rather than risking a fire when one of those pieces penetrates a wire. Home Depot is doing nothing to assist me and is not honoring the 90 day warranty that they offer. I am on my 5th person at GE. if anyone has any influence with GE or HomeDepot, please help. read more

He was rude, impatient and didn't really want to help a customer. He chased away customers and gave us a bad memory regarding home Depot. Home Depot is definitely the place to go for anything and everything you might need for home improvement. My husband was used to Lowes back in South Carolina where we lived because people there always seemed more competent. But when we went to Lowes here and waited for 10 minutes in an aisle pressing the help button to find out that they don't carry a product which has they have the end pieces on the shelf, we gave up and went to Home Depot. I am pretty sure there were like 20 people working at 8:30 pm. I could always find someone to help me and even if I looked lost, I am pretty sure some guy who wasn't even wearing an apron helped me find something. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, that it made me realize we definitely need to be going to Home Depot first. Power Tools Department Coming prepared and doing research prior to going to The Home Depot is a 100% must do. Luckily for the internet I was able to do such. At that time of the visit, the online inventory said that they had 3 in stock. Minutes after arriving at the store and looking at the HVac's floor model, I had a feeling that there was only two for sale due to the online inventory utilizing their floor model as a plus one. A few minutes later of scanning the shelves below and high above a worker approached me and asked me if I needed help finding my item. Heh, i thought this was my lucky day and it would have been a smooth and quick purchase. The worker pulled out his scanner device and logged into the Home Depot's stock and saw exactly what I saw. He told me that it's not in stock and that the last hammervac they sold was in December 2018. Confused, I asked him what about the product count. He told me and this is his exact words, "Sorry but I don't think we have it in stock". Then he walked away without giving a second effort of helping me find it. I refused to go home empty handed and continued to look for 20-25 minutes. Using my phone as binoculars (zooming in via camera mode) I finally found the product number of my tool!! I asked another worker to help me retrieve it since customers are not allowed to use the rolling ladders. I got my tool and proceeded to the checkout where I fortunately walked past the previous employee who did not help me look for it. No words were said as he saw I found the tool. Homedepot is not Veteran friendly! Over the years, since they opened, I have spent thousands of dollars in the Honolulu & Waipahu stores. Since last year, we were required to register to receive military discounts. I have gone on line to register, says I am qualified for discounts, however, when I am @ the register, I am not qualified!!! Tried couple times but same results! I have called customer service & talked to store employees, no help!!! Frustration after frustration, is not worth the discount!!! I can shop @ Lowe's or my local City Mill without any issues. Just show your ID card to prove you are a Vet, and the discount is yours. Home-depot says they honor vets, I disagree & many, many of war vets are with me. I will be passing the word to more vets, and also, in the motorcycle & Street Rodders, that Home-Depot does not honor Vets! If you didn't want to give us discounts, why don't you be truthful, and say, Vets are not welcome. As a Vietnam Vet, who served my country, I find this very frustrating & insulting. Because of your opening, you shutdown one of our oldest & friendliest company, Arakawa's, your customer satisfaction, doesn't come close to theirs!!! Those who know me will not believe that I've spent many hours at The Home Depot on Alakawa Street during the past month, We all know The Home Depot so rather than to get into what they have for sale, the service, etc. I am focusing on their POS and Inventory System (call it my occupational hazard). Here goes and here is my opinion based on my recent experience Home Depot's Point of Sale (POS) automated system, their IT department and its clerks and data entry folk are by far the heart of store proper.Any purchase, whether paid by cash, credit card or gift card is automatically recorded and offset against their inventory of the product you purchased. If you need to return what you purchased, the register automatically remembers what you did. In my case, I exchanged a product that had 2 prices on the exterior wrapping. The register remembered what I was charged without even looking at my receipt. Every number; starting with the SKU, quantity and price is remembered by the POS. While having a receipt is the smart practical thing to do, you'll find your return without a receipt may be less painless than you would think. Exchanges can be handled at the check out station, minimizing the lines you need to stand at and in. An experienced cashier or checkout person can handle it seamlessly. Tip: Newbie cashiers may attempt to send you to the "returns" line for your exchange...ask for a supervisor before changing lines... Tip #2: Poke snacks available outside the entrance/exit Thank you Home Depot for making my renovations less than painful. read more

USED item for FULL PRICE!! Needed a reel mower since the flat parts of our lawn are small. The Scotts 16 in reel mower seemed like a decent buy for the price and based on some online reviews. In my opinion it is. Unfortunately the specific Scotts mower I purchased turned out to be USED! There was dirt in the treads of the large wheels, scratches on the rollers for the back, handle pads were bent and there were washers missing. It seemed like everything was there for it to be operable, plus the one I bought was the last one, even though the app said there were 5 left. I have bought countless items from Lowe's, home appliances, power tools, tool sheds, plants, shelving, even artificial Christmas trees and decorations, not once was I let down. It's Christmas time and again Home Depot is where I get my Christmas Tree. Noble Fir to be exact. I love this time of the year and Home Depot has many trees to choose from. TIP: Do plan to get a little muddy or dirty. The trees are laid on the ground some still stringed wrapped some not. But they do get dirty and must be washed before setting up in house, this sadly i found out one year AFTER setting tree in stand, unwrapped it and thought i bought a dead tree. It wasn't brown dead, it was brown dirty!! So do open and shoot your tree down. read more
