My husband and I have always loved coming here. Their breakfasts are delicious and capping off the meal with a donut (or two) is simply perfection. With the shelter-in-place order in effect, we are so grateful we can still enjoy our favorite foods and also support the restaurant. Came here for the first time was told it's a good breakfast spot well we where completely unsatisfied. The French toasts was good my wife said but the chorizo scramble was terrible the waitress forgot my mothers order so we end up having to share our food with her. Then the waitress keep telling us that we needed to understand that the kitchen was really busy because of DoorDash orders like it's our fault we came at such a busy time. SMH then when I ask for the bill she tells me to sit down and be patient. Definitely won't be back and will let anyone who asked know this place is terrible. Amazing experience today! I moved near by and came in by myself for breakfast. Right away I was greeted with a warm welcome. They shouted "sit anywhere you like" and I felt right at home. We love this place and our server, Myra was extremely attentive, thanks girl. So I had the skillet sandwich with crispy bacon on a croissant.... yummy!!! One of my daughters ordered the turkey pesto sandwich, this sandwich was the bomb, I had never tasted it before. The only other thing that was wonderful was the Tater Tots. They was soooo good! We had a party of 8.5 people, must include the baby and although we had to wait 45 minutes, it was well worth the wait. They have more than enough servers that and they work together to ensure that their patrons are satisfied. This is a must try establishment. *The bathroom is clean. This place is a small donut shop and cafe. It's a bit easy to miss as the door is kinda small and when you walk in, you see the bakery counter and about 10 small tables. The cafe itself is pretty small and it gets pretty busy on the weekends. They serve brunch and your typical cafe items - eggs Benedict, omelettes, burgers, and sandwiches. Everything is under $13 but most of the dishes are filled with packaged deli meats. My friends and I ordered brunch dishes and they all came with hash browns. Unfortunately they were overcooked on top and we could barely eat any of it as it was too hard and burnt. The eggs Benedict with bacon and turkey was mediocre as the turkey tasted like your typical packaged deli meat and the bacon was basic. None of us were impressed with our dishes. They had homemade donuts and pastries but unfortunately we were so stuffed after our meals we couldn't imagine getting more. The scrambled eggs were also over cooked. I was shocked that they sent the food to be quite honest. After all this, the bill came and it was wrong. Then we got some bs reasoning about it. Apparently the grilled cheese doesn't include any side so If you want to swap something out, be prepared to pay $4.50 for it. Not clear on the menu or when we ordered. Not impressed. There is a pastry counter with tempting doughnuts and other pastries to tempt you. the menu includes waffles, hot cakes, omelets, other breakfast items and burgers and sandwiches as well. One of our group had a gluten free omelet that she enjoyed. One had the decadent-lookin chocolate and bananas pancakes I had the pancakes with seasonal berries which turned out to be some sliced strawberries and the 4th person had the fancy french toast that was made with croissants and also had some strawberries, whipped cream and powdered sugar. I eat/order from here 2-3 times a week. The food is good and consistent. The donuts are always warm and fresh and fluffy and delicious. It's a great little spot! It's just tiny. I wish they could have expanded out onto the sidewalk from the pandemic because it's so tight in there, but they do have fiberglass partitions, so at least there's that! read more

I've gotten a lot of recommendations from friends saying to try Homeskillet. Since I was in Alameda staying over my cousins', I asked if we can go there for brunch! Let me tell you, those things are HEAVEN! I can eat a whole box of their blueberry donuts. Definitely a MUST TRY if you slide to Homeskillet!!! Half way through eating my eggs benny, I began to get a sudden sharp pain in my stomach so I took a break from eating. (I wanted to continue eating though because the food was so good )-: ) I ended up not being able to finish the eggs benny and took it to-go. My stomach didn't feel back to normal until I took a power nap back home. I think maybe my Chorizo Eggs Benedict gave me a slight stomach ache? Park Street is foodie heaven because there are so many different types of foods and choices. I'm a brunch-aholic, so Homeskillet was of course one of my bookmarks. Reading reviews, I had higher expectations. To be honest, it was just 'ehh' to me. The restaurant was packed around 1 pm, but we waited maybe 15 minutes for a table. Many tables, but be ready to get close and comfy with strangers. We were able to order quickly since there is a menu posted on the window outside as you wait. If you just want donuts, just walk in to the glass case. There are so many breakfast, burger, and sandwich choices. I had a hard time picking, but ultimately I went with the old school pastrami (basically a reuben) and my boyfriend got the Haus Benedict. I substituted the fries for tater tots, and I'm glad I did because they were so crispy! I originally wanted marble rye bread, but they "ran out." Booo. The sandwich was okay, but I've had better at local delis. The Benedict was good because it actually had real turkey, bacon, and avocado. It needed more hollandaise sauce though. That came with hash browns. The egg was poached perfectly. There's fresh squeezed OJ! It was a tad bit sour and was room temp. I suggest you ask for a separate glass of ice. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't excellent either. The waitress seemed pissed off, but whenever we needed anything, she did her job. The woman at the donut counter was nice though. We bought some maple bacon and matcha donuts. She gave us an additional glazed and chocolate donut at no extra charge! To sum it up, it was just meh. I'd come here just for the donuts. The customer that takes their time to come into this establishment are treated as a secondary priority to DoorDash/UberEats/Grubhub online customers comfortably sitting on their couch. We waited (in the rain) about 15 minutes before getting a table. Once inside, there were no menus on our table. The hostess did, in fact, apologize for the delay due to an influx of orders, so we expected to wait a bit. Our arrival time was 10:30am. Seated at 10:50am. Menus were not on the table until 11:10am. A group that entered 15 minutes after us got their order taken first at 11:50pm. Order taken at 11:55pm---FOR BREAKFAST. In the meantime, as we sat for 1 hour sipping coffee awaiting this waitress, we watched as over 20 dashers (NOT AN EXAGGERATION) left with bags (and sometimes boxes) of prepared food. For the wait, they offered donuts since that was ready to go. We figured it was a situation like "oh, we're so sorry it's taking so long, here's some donuts on the house..." but it was not. When the waitress came to take our order just before noon, she asked what donuts were on the empty plate on the table so she could tally that onto our bill. We were tired, hungry, and appalled that the online orders clearly take precedence here, and people who came down, found parking, braved the weather, and waited outside AND inside were the least of their concern. We had asked if we could speak to the manager, to which she replied: "no one is a manager here." We asked if we could speak to an owner, to which she replied "I don't even speak to them, they are somewhere in San Mateo." OMG. At around 12:30 or so food showed up. Well, a plate of pancakes showed up. My son and I came back inside from stretching our legs out in the fresh air as we have been there nearly 2 hours now with horrible service, lots of coffee, and some donuts. We all took a dive into the pancakes...warm--not hot--and cakey and dry. My son's food showed up next, and he began to dig in. My food (along with my wife's food) showed up when my son was already half done. At that time, we requested to return the pancakes due to their temperature and dryness. She asked if we wanted something else, and my wife stated: "No, we just want to go home at this point." to which the waitress gave a nasty look to her. Overall, the food was OK, maybe a 5/10 for the Benedict, a 6/10 for the Bird's Nest, and 2/10 for the Hippie Hash. My son made his hash browns flavorful by adding syrup. My wife and I are breakfast place junkies. The best breakfast place we have ever eaten in is only 1 1/2 blocks away; we wanted to give a chance to other local businesses, but this is what you get when you try and copy what the best (Ole's) has done for decades: balance great customer service, great food quality, and find a way to manage online deliveries while prioritizing in-person dining in a post-COVID world. Home Skillet cannot currently do this. They need better staffing, and a "customer in hand is worth two online" approach...immediately. This experience was a trifecta, the coffee was perfect, the food was great and our server, Alex, was amazing. When she took our order she wasn't writing any thing down, then she took another tables order. So we were sure our order would be wrong in some way. Well, it was 100% correct. To start the coffee was smooth and extremely hot, which is the only way to drink it. I ordered the original eggs Benedict, the eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise was delicious. My sweetheart ordered the classic breakfast and he had no complaints and we also had French toast to share. The French toast was light and airy with the right amount of sweetness.
