I got the Hashtag with no bread. She got a bunch of things, literally like 5 things and loved all of it. If you are wanting good breakfast but don't want to leave the house I highly recommend this place.

I do business and I praise my staff , my products and I want people to be happy- if I didn't like something I would suggest something else - not that I didn't like it. " some people really like it " or it's good , this one is excellent though - it was different . I used the restroom - a weird odor and it's a storage closer too- maybe it was the cleaning supplies or whatever was stored in there that had the odor. Coffee had grounds in it. No biggie . But it's worth noting . The little things matter . I like the open kitchen and the comms were fast and pleasant. The young man that was cooking was helpful and had a good smile. Our waitress was a little grumpy maybe. It's almost in the corner and you can walk past it . You have to keep an eye out for the door. Will I be back ? No. The menu is avg - and I didn't get a welcoming feel. One waitress was smiley and nice then others - kinda going through the paces. I'll try the other places in Alameda or maybe I'll just eat at home ...

Friends and I came on a Saturday morning, we didn't have to wait long surpsingly. The wait staff was pretty attentive, giving us waters and menus quickly. I'm a sucker for a breakfast burrito and for benedicts. One of my friends offered to split a benedict with me. The brunch-urrito was perfect with chorizo. Definitely large portion sizes here. I had half a breakfast burrito and one of the benedicts and was pretty full. The hash browns and remainder of the breakfast burrito went home with me to become leftovers.

My friends enjoyed their birds nests. Overall, I would definitely come back and check out what else is on the menu! Maybe the donuts next time!

Sorry, but... this is an extremely generous three because their donuts are good and I really hate dinging small businesses. Came in here for breakfast because we're starting to feel like crazy Ole's addicts. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict and hashbrowns. His food was actually good, but it was cold because they don't warm the plates and they waited too long to bring it out, so not very appetizing. I ordered their sandwich that is essentially a turkey BLT with pickles, and french fries on the side. The bread was very weird and not good. Kind of hard and crumbly. I don't think it was stale, I just don't think it was good bread. Reminded me of that kind of bread you get that's not actually made with flour. You can see from the photo how much bacon I got on my sandwich which was ridiculous. There was actually more on the other side -- just not a very well crafted sandwich. And I personally didn't like the turkey. It just tasted like cheap lunchmeat. The fries were not homemade in spite of the name of the restaurant. The service was fine. I tried to ask the server about the tuna (I tend to like a dry tuna rather than a wet one) and rather than take the hint and just offer me a sample she sat there and basically said she didn't know. Which is why I didn't order it. The place is pretty grimy. Dust and bits of crumbs in the windowsills and under the tables, things like that. It was also ice cold in there and all the workers were bundled up with beanies. Maybe turn on the heater, people. We hadn't been here for years and I won't be making a trip back anytime soon. Except maybe for the donuts which are good.

I really appreciated the variety on the menu. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the overall vibe was welcoming. I ordered the Florentine scramble and the execution didn't quite land. The use of sliced cheese made the dish a bit difficult to eat, as it clung to the scramble. My friend had the Benedict and described it as good, but very basic. Overall average dining experience due to the food.

Home Skillet is an amazing breakfast place. Whatever you order, it will be delicious. Plus so many fresh donuts to choose from! I ordered the Monte Cristo with a side of fruit, my favorite and it was so good. My husband got pancakes, our friends ordered a scramble and a classic breakfast. We ordered tator tots for the table. Service was so fast and efficient but not pushy, lots of free refills. It wasn't very crowded so we stayed and talked for awhile. The owner brought us a free giant donut to share. It was a lovely time with tasty food and best friends.

I'm so glad we found this hidden little gem out in alameda! The food here is so good and they are quick to get it out to you. It seemed like as soon as we ordered the food it was being delivered to our table. The food is also such a good price! I like how the entire restaurant is small and quaint which gives it a very homey vibe. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu when we get that little taste for breakfast food!

Nice brunch place in Alameda. We got in after lunch time but was still able to catch brunch before they closed. We had the Alameda Scramble, Tooth Fairy French Toast and the Haus Eggs Benedict. Our orders came fast and the service was pleasant and efficient. I can only speak for the Haus Eggs Benedict as that's what I had. That's the one I rated the 5 star. It had apple smoked bacon, turkey and avocado along with the normal poached egg, English muffin and hash browns. I was very satisfied with this very California version of eggs Benedict.

We love this place. There are so many choices on the menu and most of the things are homemade, including the donuts and orange juice is freshly squeezed every day. When we're in Alameda, we always make sure go to Homeskillet.

Maybe it's on me for not understanding what a brunch-urrito was, but it did not satisfy the breakfast burrito craving that brought us here. The size and structure were solid, but the only thing distinguishable when you took a bite was the crunch from the green bell pepper. The rest didn't taste like much of anything. Needed salt, flavor, something. Service and to-go ordering experience was good though

This is still my go-to spot for DONUTS. They always have a great selection at reasonable prices. But they sell out pretty fast, so make sure to get there before like 11am! Here are the current prices as of Jan 2024: Regular - $1.75 Bars - $2.50 Filled - $3.25 Cinnamon Roll - $3.25 Apple Fritter - $3.25 Donut Holes - $3.75/Dozen Mixed Dozen - $18.95 (Raised, Cake, Old Fashioned) Half Dozen - $9.95 (Raised, Cake, Old Fashioned) Favorite will always be the APPLE FRITTER and BLUEBERRY FRITTER (though they make discontinued this). They are massive and so good.

Came here yesterday for a late breakfast because the spot we originally were going to had a big wait and the line was outside in the rain. Luckily when we got here there were a couple tables so we were sat quickly. I tried substituting a pancake for the hash browns and toast (which cost the same as a side order) and she said it would be $3.50 extra. I wasn't doing that so then she said they could do a pancake combo which worked for me. All I wanted was pancakes, eggs, and bacon. It wasn't on the menu though. My husband got the Denver omelet. I also ordered a cup of tea. The one tea bag was $3.25! That seems high for hot water and a tea bag. The food came out faster than expected and they did check on us a couple times. There was no honey for the tea but not a big deal (I also didn't ask). The syrup container on the table was super sticky and had syrup drips all over it. The food was mediocre. I wasn't impressed by it. The pancakes lacked flavor and were very doughy in the middle. The bacon was super duper crispy and hard. I prefer bacon that's not jiggly but this was overkill. I didn't even ask for it crispy either. The eggs were eggs. Overall, it was a mediocre meal that was overpriced. It was $38.

Met up with one of my high school friends and had breakfast here. I had that chorizo, Benedict. I wish they made the hash browns a little bit more crispy, I did ask for it to be crispier but it was all still very delicious. The servers were really nice.

Tried their Hangover burger this time. The beef was dry and under-seasoned. When you boast good beef, you have to at least know how to cook it. It was super tough. The rest of the burger was dry as well. There's little binding sauce even though the menu says hula sauce, there's only a smear of sauce right smack in the center of the buns, which is absolutely useless. I counted about 10 leaves of what I assume is a generic spring mix salad; 5 on each bun. What is the point of that? Their house-made chips are also not seasoned. There's ketchup packages included along with salt and pepper...but you can't salt chips once it's cooled and dried cause the salt will just slide off. Basically, they cannot make food. This is the second time that I've been here and the food is still poorly done. They do however, make pretty good donuts. Texture and flavors are nice. Which is why I gave them one more star than last time. Will come back for donuts, but will pass on the food. read more

This review is for the donuts as I haven't had a chance to try their breakfast yet. In short, these are some of the best donuts in the bay area. I've ordered a dozen plus on three separate occasions so have tried a wide variety of their offerings, but not all yet since their selection is so huge! Apple Friiters are my favorite and the one here is totally amazing. Crunchy texture outside, moist insides, and it's huge! The weak point of many Apple Fritters is usually the bottom portion which is usually dry and not as tasty as the outer portion or middle, but the home skillet one is perfect all around. My second favorite donuts are glazed old fashioned and they are great here as well. The two donuts that shocked me were the cake and regular glazed. The blueberry cake is PACKED with flavor both from blueberry and the dough. As a test, I tried a plain cake donut and it still was yummy. To save some calories, I usually eat just a portion of regular glazed donuts, mainly the top half with the glaze since the rest doesn't taste as good. Not so with the Homeskillet regular glazed as the dough itself is light and fluffy with its own flavor. I'm truly impressed and so happy we have such a premiere donut destination right here in Alameda. read more

Meh, forgettable experience. Got to try this usually busy spot after getting in from an early flight into OAK. Food was mediocre with overcooked omelet and average pancakes. I don't know what the hype is - large portions ala cheap-ish prices? Anyway it's not bad but it's not worth a long wait or trek from whatever corner of the Bay Area you'll be coming from. read more

So happy to have a new brunch place that opened up here in little Alameda! Food is delicious I had the birds nest and also a sandwich forgot the name. Anyway the service is really great and they're super generous! I've literally gotten a free donut/ donuts every time I went. They're super sweet and nice! Food is good, DONUTS ARE YUMMERS! Stopped here for lunch on a Tuesday after trying for brunch on a Saturday (place was too packed then with long wait). Was torn between the breakfast and lunch menu but the boyfriend and I both went with burgers. I had the OH YEAHHH! without the sauce and it was loaded with mushrooms, onions, and delicious melted Havarti. I went with the mixed greens with balsamic instead of fries which was a huge portion of fresh greens with a flavorful vinaigrette. The boyfriend had the HOT CHIP burger with garlic fries which were tasty as well. Prices are very reasonable for the portions (10-13 bucks for a burger and side). Rest of the menu offers a large variety. Place is small so it gets packed during peak hours. But service was friendly. Also, try their donuts or take a few home. They are fresh and so good! read more

Came by for brunch a couple of days ago and I really wanted to love it. It just felt so nice to have a new spot for brunch around the Park Street area. We got seated after a 10 minute wait, but my seat/bench area was looking a bit off. There was breadcrumbs and leftovers spewed all over the area I had to clean it before I could sit down. We got a glazed donut to share but it just felt too doughy. Other than that the donut was pretty good! As for food, we ordered the veggie omelet and the haus benedict. I found it really strange because the menu actually didn't specify what veggies were in the omelet. The food was okay, the omelet had spinach, onions, and mushrooms in it and it came with toast and hashbrown. The egg was slightly overcooked and the it tasted kinda bland. The benedict on the other hand was not bad. There was turkey and what I believe to be turkey bacon on it. The service was kinda there, but it wasn't...I felt like the servers just forgot about us or me halfway through. My water was never refilled (which is fine..), we didn't get our utensils until after we got our food (almost wanted to eat with my hands, jk!), and we gave up trying to get their attention for the check. We walked up to the counter to pay our bill and found out they never put in our order, so we had to personally tell the cashier everything we ordered and where we sat specifically and our table letter. I feel like there's a lot of people working here (at least 4-5 handling the floor area) but things aren't really getting done. Maybe they just need some time to figure things out. I will definitely be back for donuts :9 read more

Donuts were awesome. I came back two days in a row for the donuts. Love the cake donuts- they're cakey, dense, and delicious. They have such a great crunch on the outside too! Best part, you can go straight to the donuts and skip the seated dining line! Speaking of lines...I came by around 9:50am on a Saturday and didn't get seated until 10:10am. Not too bad for a table for two! But I heard it's hard to get a seat for groups of 3 or more. The food was okay. I had a grilled cheese for breakfast. It was kind of soggy and they brought me the wrong side. I'm planning on coming back for the burgers, they sound pretty exciting. They have a donut burger!!! Zomg! The service was awesome even when it's a crowded restaurant. read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But the food was just OK. Very much on the bland side. I had to sprinkle salt and pepper on everything that I ordered, and I almost never do that. Service on the other hand was very good, people were nice and on top of things. read more

I was looking forward to a weekday brunch/lunch. Hadn't tried this place before. Doubt I'll be back. I had the Alameda Scramble with hashbrowns and marble rye. The hashbrowns were awful and were cold in the middle (like still-frozen cold). I let them know and they quickly brought another plate of hot hashbrowns. Yes, they were now hot. They still tasted terrible. The scramble was decent, but nothing special. The bread was good but burnt. Believe me I am very accommodating at restaurants and rarely complain, but this was not worth it. They did credit me for the hashbrowns. Perhaps some other dishes are OK, but I'll give other restaurants my business. Whatever you do, do NOT order the hashbrowns! read more

I had the hashtag breakfast. Which turns out is a giant hash brown with two eggs. Thats it, nothing else but toast. When delivered to the table i was told they do not have avocado today which is supposed to be included. Wish I had been told that when I ordered. The fresh squeezed orange juice was good. $20 with tip i could have eaten at home. read more

You're gonna laugh, but out of every delicious thing they had on the menu, I ordered their side of two eggs and vinaigrette salad (damn you diet). When she asked how I wanted my eggs, I asked for them poached. And my god, they were they most perfectly poached eggs I've ever seen. Soft, runny and exploding with deliciousness when I broke the middle. If they can nail their eggs this well, I can't imagine what the rest of their dishes are like. The vinaigrette salad was also pretty good. It had a nice refreshing crush to it, but they kindov over did it on the dressing. Still two thumbs up though. I can't wait to come back and try all the carbs, sans diet. read more

The food here is bland and not far from something my girlfriend can make and she does not know how to cook. We ordered the hashtag and the burrito and it took all of 3 minutes to come out, how does one get that quick of a service, I'll tell you how- prestaging. The hashbrowns had a stale oily taste to them and the eggs looked like they were cooked hours ago. The burrito was hot in some places and cold in others, I'm gonna guess there's a microwave doing some overtime in the back. All in all I'm not coming back. read more

Delicious food, nice staff, good coffee...what more can you ask for. You walk to the counter to order then the food is delivered, but someone asks you if you want coffee or water. Coffee comes in a paper cup, which isn't my preference, but does make it easy to take it with you. Portions were perfect and the eggs benedict I got was not drowned in sauce...just the right amount. Food was not too salty or greasy, which I liked. I even got some donut holes, which were yummy. Definitely will go again. One changes that would be nice: I would prefer not to wait in line at the counter to order and a ceramic cup for the coffee. read more

Food was good but service was lacking. After being seated we looked at the menu and 10 minutes later no one came to take our order. I could see all of the staff huddled at the counter so they were not busy. I eventually stopped a person that was delivering food. When i asked if we could order she appeared that I was bothering her. But the table behind me was seated and serviced immediately, although they were seated after me. Later I asked for a box and i was immediately brought the bill, never did get the box I had to get up and ask someone else. Lets just say with that kind of service I can go elsewhere. read more

What these people do with a tiny space is magic. This has become our favorite brunch spot hands down! Can be a bit of a wait during brunch time but the food is totally worth it and the wait staff is lovely. Try the the birds nest with chorizo instead of ground beef, it's fantastic! read more

My family and I were intending to go to a different breakfast place in Alameda but we saw home skillet and decided to go here instead. The wait was a little long but it was so worth it! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! I got the fancy French toast, instead of using brioche for the French toast it was made out of a croissant!, the orange juice was fresh squeezed, and the donuts were amazing!! Established in 2016.

We are a family owned and operated restaurant. Our family had our beginnings in 1982 when our father opened our first Southern California donut shop in Yucca Valley. Our first store still remains in the family but we grew to more locations and eventually moved to Northern California. 33 years later, we continue to stay true to our first product. We believe we have perfected the donut making process and you will agree when you take a bite into our fluffy donuts.

I can certainly see why because it's a cute shop situated right off Webster in the West Alameda neighborhood; easy striking distance from kids, families, and remote workers. They opened at promptly 8am and the worker was very nice. The pricing is a little on the higher side but the donuts so far meet expectations in terms of flavor, texture, and sweetness. My half dozen consisted of original glaze, maple old fashion, strawberry flat, apple fritter, cinnamon flower (basically the swirl with donut-hole bits you can pull off), and blueberry. There was no greasy after taste, and the crunch was quite nice. So far, so good! I will definitely return, but I do wish it opened earlier to pick up before heading to work. They do allow for online orders though, which is a plus.

They have a small space and tables for small parties both inside the cafe and along their front sidewalk. Their menu selection is wide, offering a variety of lattes, coffees, and teas, but also both pastries and small meals as well. It's no wonder why they're always popping around this time of day. Although I haven't tried many of their drinks, I can say that their matcha latte has been consistently good. Today I ordered one with almond milk and the matcha flavor is nicely balanced. Good ratio between matcha and milk. The matcha itself tastes pretty well rounded - not bitter, but also not too subtle in flavor. I probably got the matcha here like three times and it has not failed me yet. My partner really enjoys the Malasada but they can sell out pretty quickly. Previously I've tried their Ube Crinkle and their donuts and they were pretty good as well. This time, I wanted something a little less sweet and small so I tried the Bibingka which was great! I love mochi and the Bibingka had a mochi texture to it. It comes with some pineapple bits which I tend to avoid, but my desire to try something new overrode that today and thankfully, the bits were small. It's a dense little bite, but I enjoyed it! A perfect little bike treat. I don't get much interaction here with the workers since it's such a quick stop, but it's okay. I think depending on what time you go, it just gets really busy and employees are just trying to chug out the orders. We'll be back again for those delicious drinks and pastries though!

The maple bar was advertised to be filled with maple filling but had a vanilla custard instead. It was pretty good. It's filled from both ends generously. Probably about a half inch of the middle has no filling. So it's easy to split in two. The maple glaze on the maple bar was not very maple-flavored. It was too subtle for my tastes. The maple bar and jelly donut were both quite light and fluffy. The buttermilk donut was on the dry side, but the glaze is good. Not too sweet.

It was a Saturday afternoon and there were some people inside the cafe doing some work. I stopped by with my dog who was in her dog bag and the worker was kind enough to let me order my drink without having to leave my dog outside! I ordered an Iced Black Sesame Latte with Oatmilk. 10/10. Everything was perfectly balanced! The coffee flavor was there but also the sesame flavor. Super refreshing! There were also some seating outside the coffee shop. Not too many but it is still available! Overall, great and friendly service, quick service, and great coffee! I've been coming here for awhile, ever since one fine afternoon I was in town on business and was feeling a need for craft beer. I was once the world's predominant authority on craft beer in my own mind, but years of chugging ales have decimated my tolerance for it. Arcade machines, outdoor activities (even a kids sandbox) really add the "Adventureland" elements that make it more than just a standard brew joint. If you've had their beer, it's definitely on the expensive side, but they keep a healthy variety that I would say is all reliably refined and delicious. Its no 2000 era Bells or modern day Founders, but I particularly like their love hazy and the Mexican style lagers. My friends who like sours say they are also quite good. Although this place is really not directly affiliated with the business it's definitely a reason I go so I can't leave it out -- they have food trucks outside that handle most of the food there and the one they have there always has one of the best burgers I've ever had in the bay, hands down. It's a blackened blueberry and blue cheese burger and even though I don't like blue cheese, this unholy alliance is faaaaaaan-friggin-tastic. Must try. Service is casual, they do flights which is a great way to try things. Perhaps I'm used to the underground mall in New York with all of their decadent pastries in the Chelsea marketplace in New York, but this particular spot in Alameda was supposed to be one of the best pastries here on this cute little island. Perhaps it's just a cute little island aesthetics, but the pastries seemed rather traditional. The Yuzu tart was tasty and had good flavor, it was also around 2 PM on a Sunday, so maybe all the good pastries were gone. Service was great and very helpful, and another large family came in to the pastry shop as we were leaving. Maybe I'll try it next time and see if they have different seasonal pastries.

Pros: Never fail to disappoint. I love the benedicts here and the portions are HUGE. My sister and I can never finish. The restaurant itself is a little small, but the wait isn't too bad. The donuts are amazing! Do try the bacon donut. Sounds weird, but surprisingly a great savory kick to the donut. Green tea donut sells out fast and the blueberry cake is my favorite. Cons: No parking, but there's a parking structure one block away. Ordered: Cool Cat Sandwich, Chorizo Benedict. Get the blueberry cake donut! Crispy from the sugar glaze but soft, crumbly and moist dough in the inside. The bacon donut looks like a weird idea but it totally works too! My dad got the burger and said it wasn't anything special so not recommended. Would I recommend: Yes! One of the better brunch place in Alameda. read more

Hash browns tasted like grill was not cleaned in the longest, took one bite, and pushed it away. Eggs Benedict, the Hollandaise sauce had no lemon juice or zest in it at all, and the mushrooms were old. Never saw so many people getting donuts in my life. Very popular for donuts. For breakfast will go to Jims, nothing there is old or not cleaned. Service excellent. read more

i stand by what i said about this place. Ordered a simple breakfast from this place and the hashbrowns were soggy on the inside and the sausage was mediocre at best. I was also given bread with butter but no jam. It came with two eggs which I ordered over medium eggs and one yolk was fully cooked and one was runny. read more

Ordered through door dash, the Alameda scramble & a half dozen donuts. Opened the breakfast and uh. then took a bite (Wow yummy) The best tasting breakfast I've had in a long long time. Had the donuts they were super fresh and tasty. Thanks Homeskillet you made my day. read more
