The butter had 2 options and each person got their own!! The bread was warm and oh so good!! Not offered a second round of bread :) The ceasar salad was a wedge ceaswhich had fresh toppings and so delicious!! Ordered the 8oz filet medium cake out well done;( Very disappointed. The wedges with cheese and bacon were ok, prefer regular fries myself. The prime rib came out as preferred and the raw horseradish had some kick. 5 Stars: A Hidden Gem at Hoosier Park! I recently had dinner at the Home Stretch Steakhouse, and I have to say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Tucked inside Hoosier Park, this place really surprised me with how elegant and welcoming it is. The steak was cooked to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and exactly as ordered. The sides were delicious too, especially the garlic mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere felt upscale yet comfortable. Food was scrumptious! I had the smoked prime rib. It was very flavorful. The seasonal veggies were good, little cold unfortunately. The polenta was very tasty - as I am unable to eat potatoes. Our waitress was kind and patient! She kept our drinks full and was very bright and friendly. Great service and presentation combined with delicious food creates an awesome dining experience in my opinion. This dessert did disappoint (definitely shareable). Had an awesome time this weekend! The staff was entertaining and the food was amazing. The filet mignon was cooked properly and had so much flavor. The bacon Mac & cheese could bring a tear to your eye, it was so good. The drinks were strong and the convenience of horse betting was even stronger. I'm a regular player and have eaten here many many times for several years. It was hit or miss early on, but they found their footing and the quality was fairly consistent over the past few years, which kept me coming back. However, my most recent experience wasn't so great. (*I ate here for their NYE prix fixe menu, and while service was overwhelmed and a bit slow, the food was very good.) I wish I could say the same for my recent visit. Ordered prime rib medium rare and red pepper polenta. Prime rib came out very rare (I'm okay with a rare prime rib, so I didn't complain, but it was still improperly cooked) Could barely cut it with a steak knife and the chew was brutal. Way too senewy and when the bar tender (I was eating at the bar) asked about my meal, I told her how tough it was and not good. She apologized and said I wasn't the first to complain about it. I opted for the calamari appetizer and two french onion soups to go at that point. The polenta was WAY over worked, and not good, but I figured I could salvage it at home with a bit of stove top magic with water, butter, half and half and more salt. (I did and it ended up being good) The calamari was good. My take home french onion soup, on the other hand, not so much. They messed up my order and brought me two soups as dine-in, and had to change to two take home soups. Soups ended up being portion sizes of cups - not bowls. Flavor was very very bland, and not their typical crave-worthy french onion so they went into the sink disposal. Not sure what's going on, but I hope this was just a bad night. read more

On this trip, we enjoyed the wedge salad, French onion soup, 6 oz filet, lobster tail and veggies. All was very tasty! We love going to the steakhouse for celebration dinners. Tonight we planned for a fabulous dinner to celebrate the holidays. Reservations for 5pm since we knew the place gets a little loud as the place fills up. Our server Toni was excellent. The wine- house chardonnay and house Moscato both very good. But ... The NYE band was rehearsing and the music was SO loud we couldn't yell loud enough to be heard. So much for conversation at dinner. Despite talking about this with our server the band continued to practice for about 40 minutes. 40 minutes of ear splitting headache inducing noise. Our server did say she would talk to her boss but no one from management came to our table. We ended up with carry out boxes. The music did stop but so did our appetites. We were offered a complimentary dessert. Didn't help that we both thought the evening was spoiled. Where was management anyway? My advice - ask about bands practicing before you go. Oh wait; our server told us she thought they would finish rehearsal BEFORE the dinner service. So why didn't someone tell them to stop? Management dropped the ball on this one. read more

OMG, If you're planning on coming to the race track do yourself a favor and avoid this place explicitly. They profess to be a high-end steak and seafood restaurant but they're not quite up to the level of Outback. I gave them 1 star because there was nothing lower, giving them 1 star is an insult to restaurants that are actually 1 star. First off, as I'm quite particular about how my steak is prepared I asked the host about their kitchen, you would think being the host he would know their kitchen's ability, he was clueless and told me to ask my server. Our server (Marshall) was equally clueless, she couldn't tell me if their chefs could prepare a steak "Pittsburgh", I decided to go a different path so I wouldn't make my dining partners uncomfortable. Sadly, they had issues with their own dinner, both ordered the Halibut, and its bad enough to destroy a piece of fish as delicate as this but the kitchen did it to both entries. My dish however, Grilled Chilean Sea Bass was perfect. Sides brought to the table were cold, the Avocado Salad was lacking enough Avocado to be called an "Avocado Salad". Speaking for my colleagues, I told our waitress to discuss this Halibut disaster with her manager and they took both entries off the bill without so much as a visitation to apologize. When you come to the track, stick with the lower end restaurants which if its disappointing than you've not wasted your money. Overall, our time at the track was fun had we avoided Homestretch. This is the worst steakhouse I have been to in 61 years! My wife and I visited this establishment on a Thursday night. The restaurant was empty except for two occupied tables. The host/waiter greeted us by saying "Did you remember to call ahead for a reservation?" My wife ordered an Amaretto Sour, which was excellent. From then on it was all downhill. The Jumbo Lump Crabcakes were absolutely awful. They were made with cheap canned crabmeat, the shredded kind. Not a "lump" anywhere. They smelled and tasted fishy. My wife ordered the Filet Oscar, which was highly recommended by our waiter. It arrived at our table ice cold with a cold pat of butter on top of it. We advised our waiter of this, and he took the steak back to the kitchen. When he returned with the steak, it appeared to have been microwaved. It was now well done and hard as a rock. My wife ate the one remaining thing on her plate which appeared to be edible; the asparagus with Oscar sauce. I tasted it, and the Oscar sauce smelled and tasted fishy. (My wife ended up getting food poisoning from this side dish). I can assure you that we will never set foot in this restaurant again! read more

I really liked this place the the first two times I went,I wish I would have reviewed then. The service and food were awesome. Service especially, I mean above and beyond. This time (Oct 30,2018) was way different. Service was not good at all. I mean really not good. I wasn't going to leave review here until I heard from them, as I left email on their contact page. But I didn't hear anything. The food was decent,well mine was. I didn't like getting my baked potato after I had finished my steak. My friends crab legs were cold. The mushrooms, well two different people got mushrooms, they were totally different. Night and day The manager did come over and try to give free dessert. But I feel table of 6 that was $400, maybe some more should have been offered. The excuse I got was they were switching computer systems, I know that can be tough. But, why not close, switch and reopen? That was my experience, I hope it gets better! It is really fun eating dinner and watching the horses. read more

Initially hard to find as I walked through the entire casino. Service was excellent and the filet was perfect. A little put off initially as I was asked if I was sure I wanted to be seated by the track, after a yes was asked if I would like to see a menu... This is my first visit to Hoosier Downs, or to an active horse track for that matter. They had several restaurants, but we chose the upscale steakhouse. The entrees were as good as any restaurant I have been to. I did not like the LOUD amplified music. It was interesting to watch the harness racing. I was amazed at the number of number of politically connected persons I saw there that night. You CAN get to the restaurant without going through the casino if you enter from the south doorways. read more

As a new resident of Anderson, I've been searching for a place to get a decent meal. It hasn't been easy. Someone recommended Homestretch Steakouse, and I figured, what the hell - casino food can't be any worse than what I've eaten in town so far. What a nice surprise. Service was great and the food was fantastic. All 6 of us really enjoyed entrees, sides and deserts. We'll be going back. The only downside is that you are in a casino with a racetrack...or is it a racetrack with a casino? So the dining room is littered with TV monitors showing horse racing which is a little distracting. Overall it's the best place to get a nice meal I've found in town so far. read more

Never had Bison before, but was delightfully surprised. Very well prepared dish. Coming from out of town I wasn't sure what to expect, but everything from service to the food was well above what I was prepared for. Nice selection of sides that were all very tasty. I hosted a surprise birthday party here this weekend. I had 27 guests. The manager and i created a menu that suited my guests tastes. Each guest ordered from the pre set menu with their individual preference for how they wanted their main dish prepared (rare, medium etc.) Each meal was perfectly prepared, service was outstanding and the food itself was outstanding. I live in New Jersey and the event was just after Superstorm Sandy. The manager was very understanding of the difficulties I was having organizing the event in the middle of a catastrophe. His help, the great food and a wonderful wait staff made for a perfect evening for everyone. I highly recommend the Homestretch. read more
