I wish I could give Home Wise Appliance zero stars. I purchased a microwave from Home Wise Appliance for nearly $2,000 in 2024 including a 5-year extended warranty that they sold me. Just 19 months later, the microwave began sparking. We immediately stopped using it and filed a warranty claim, assuming the extended warranty would give us peace of mind. That couldn't have been further from the truth. The warranty is outsourced to Centricity, and dealing with both companies has been an absolute nightmare. Over the course of six months, I made countless phone calls, escalated the issue more than 10 times, and spent hundreds of hours trying to get a simple resolution. Communication was virtually nonexistent. Every time I called, I got the same vague response: "We'll call you in a week." They repeatedly sent technicians who either lacked experience with the appliance or failed to fix the problem. Visit after visit, call after call nothing changed. Six months later, I was still without a working microwave and had to spend additional money buying a temporary replacement just so my family could have one. At one point, I literally had to set up a conference call myself just to get Home Wise Appliance and Centricity on the phone together because neither company seemed willing to communicate with the other. As the customer, I shouldn't have to manage their relationship. After six months of frustration, they finally offered me a check for $920. No explanation. No breakdown of how they arrived at that amount. Just less than half of what I paid for the microwave and warranty combined. They deemed the microwave "irreparable". When I asked for answers, I got none. The most disappointing part is that Home Wise Appliance was quick to sell me an expensive appliance and warranty, but once something went wrong, I was completely on my own. They passed the responsibility to their warranty company and offered no help throughout the process. If you're considering buying an appliance here, especially with an extended warranty, learn from my experience. A warranty is only valuable if the company stands behind it. Mine turned into six months of stress, endless phone calls, lost time, out-of-pocket expenses, and an unresolved issue. I would never purchase from Home Wise Appliance again, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before doing business with them.

I went to their warehouse sale in Hayward. Would absolutely recommend this. My sales associate was Lilian, and she was able to help me out with a great deal on a fancy range. Looking forward to more warehouse deals from this company. Was able to get my range for 55% off the original retail price.

You would think that the objective of a small business is to make money (or at least stay in…read morebusiness). With that attitude, I'm surprised that they are still in business under Dathan's leadership. Long story - I bought an induction cooktop at Airport Appliance (AA). Their in-house installers couldn't install it for some reason. I was referred to this third-party vendor. My sales associate (SA) had them contact me and I was on the phone explaining the situation with Dathan. I would say his customer service is great when he is trying to sell you his services. He was knowledgeable. Brought up how his installation prices were a little cheaper than AA. He even told me they used to be the in-house installers, but AA wanted them to wake up at like 4am to pick up the product at their warehouse and then go install it. Since they were all family men, they decided just to be the go-to if AA couldn't do it. We talked on the phone initially on Aug 18th (see pics for call log and minutes). We went over what was going on and there was some confusion with what was the actual problem. He said he would contact my SA to see what the issue was. Dathan also sent me out two initial quotes to look over and e-sign. My SA got back to me and said that they talked and wanted pictures of the wall behind my oven. I sent them and he said I would need a junction box installed and Dathan's company could do it, but it was going to be expensive (please see pic). After looking for other vendors, we decided to go with Proappliance because they were already recommended. I called back Dathan on Sept 11 to make sure we were on the same page before I signed the quote. He asked me to refresh his memory about what needed to be done. I told him that I knew it would probably be expensive, but I just wanted it installed no matter what the price. I signed the more expensive of the two quotes expecting it to be more in the end. The quote had included electrical work. I didn't want an on-site review because we already knew what needed to be done. Our in-home installation day comes and the two workers arrive. My husband was there to greet them. I was working so this is all hearsay from him. The installers said that we needed an electrician to come by in order for them to completely install the unit. My husband called me and I was so confused. I had specifically told Dathan what the issue was. At no point did he tell me that we needed to have an electrician come out to do that part before they could install. The installers said that they could still do it, but the electrician would have to finish the work and there was no guarantee that he would undo any of the work that they would have done. In that case, I declined the installation. My husband said that the interaction was very cordial. One of them even asked my husband if he could take a picture of my Beware of Dog sign. They told us that there was a 75 dollar fee for the on-site consultation, but my husband said that he wouldn't pay that until we got things squared away. There must have been some kind of miscommunication because we were told that they could complete the electrical work and installation. I get a call and voicemail from Dathan. A little bit later he emails me a bill for $95 dollars ($20 more). My husband wanted to talk to him. When he called him, he could already tell that Dathan was on the defensive. We would consider him confrontational and basically tried to blame it on me (the wife). He stated that he remembered that he told me we needed a circuit breaker, but that ridiculous because we wanted a one-stop shop and would never had hired him if he couldn't complete the whole job. They went back and forth for a while, and sometime during the conversation he asked my husband to recall what happened that day again, and my husband ask him how he was able to recall a conversation that happened a month ago, but not one that happened today? Things just didn't add up. I feel like he got so fixated on getting paid. I just spent 3k on a cooktop so 95 dollars is not important to us. It's mainly the principle behind it. I would think that you would want to have the customer satisfied so they keep coming back to you and referring friends for your services. In the long run, he got his 95 dollars, but lost out on at least 4x that much on the installation and thousands more on possible referrals. To me, the best case scenario would have a been a simple phone call to say there was a misunderstanding, and we apologize that we couldn't install your cooktop, but we have a list of trusted electricians that can help you, and afterwards we can come back and finish the installation. A portion of the 75/95 dollar fee could be used towards the installation in order to give the customer an incentive to return. Obviously he doesn't think that way and now we will never be using his services again. I will also be telling my SA at Airport about my experience with him.

When my old oven stopped heating, I decided to replace it rather than repair it. I found San Jose Appliance Store through Craigslist, contacted Anthony, and arranged delivery of a used oven. The oven was delivered promptly, and my old oven was hauled away for an additional fee. Unfortunately, after installation, I discovered that the front burner would not ignite properly. When it did light, it often released gas into the kitchen first, creating what I believed to be a serious safety concern. To the company's credit, they sent a technician to inspect the stove. The technician was courteous, but the repair was unsuccessful. During the visit, brake cleaner was sprayed inside my kitchen, leaving strong fumes throughout the house. My wife and son both complained about the odor, and my son later developed a headache. A few days later, another repair attempt was made when a replacement part was brought to my home unannounced. Unfortunately, it was the wrong part. I then contacted GE directly and discovered that the serial number listed in the advertisement was incorrect. Once the correct information was identified, I learned the stove was also missing two racks and required a replacement handle. I ultimately spent about $150 replacing those items. I was also unable to obtain a proper invoice because I was mistakenly given another customer's paperwork. When I raised these concerns, I was told the stove had been sold "as is" despite the advertised 30-day warranty. I was also told the missing parts and defective burner were merely cosmetic issues and accused of "trying to demand money." To be clear, I never demanded money. I simply asked the company to provide the correct replacement part so the stove could be repaired safely and function as represented. That request was never fulfilled. Anthony briefly suggested a trade-in arrangement, but multiple messages later indicated that no exchange would take place. The only remaining option offered was another repair attempt, by which point I had lost confidence in the process. Adding to my frustration, I later discovered that the oven I paid to have hauled away was being advertised for resale on the company's website. At this point, I have purchased the necessary burner part myself and will hire a qualified technician to complete the repair. This has been an expensive lesson. I was not seeking a refund, discount, or special treatment. I simply wanted an oven that worked safely and a company that stood behind its warranty. Update: In response to the owner's reply, I would like to clarify a few points. My concerns remain unchanged. The oven was sold with a faulty burner, and despite two repair attempts, the issue was never resolved. I also did not "demand" money. I initially proposed a simple solution: that the business owner obtain the correct replacement part and ship it to me, which would have eliminated the need for any refund. When no effective resolution was provided, I purchased the correct part myself. This was not merely a cosmetic matter. The issue involved a burner that failed to ignite properly and allowed gas to accumulate before lighting, which I considered a legitimate safety concern. At this point, I no longer expect this business to honor its warranty when doing so is inconvenient or costly. My review is based solely on my personal experience. I encourage prospective customers to consider all available information, including both the owner's response and customer reviews, and make their own informed decision.
