Delicious cold noodles! I had been craving this dish ever since I had it in Koreatown a few weeks ago and the weather's only been getting it hotter. Really liked the version at Homung Nangmyun - springy noodles (a few snips of the scissors are an absolute necessity), delicious icy broth, and some nice garnishes of thinly sliced beef, pickled radish, and half of a boiled egg. My husband and dad both got the spicy version without broth but I liked my classic non-spicy one more, the simple clean flavors really shone through. Restaurant is bright and clean inside. When we went on a Saturday for lunch, most of the tables were occupied. Menu is mostly nangmyun but also features the standard Korean dishes (tofu soup, seafood pancake, dumplings, bibimbap) if you want something other than cold noodles. They bring out a great selection of banchan with your main dishes. My favorites were the green beans, pickled radish, and stewed potato. We also got an order of the galbi jjim to share for the table; it came in this stone pot with stewed radish and carrots. The beef was incredibly tender but ... was it worth $60? The two waitresses who came by to check on us were very friendly, with one insisting we take the sauce from the galbi with us. We ordered two double orders of mool nangmyun and one regular order of bibim nangmyun, along with haemul pajeon. My favorite naengmyun, korean cold noodle, place closed a few years ago and I was so devastated. I have been on a serious hunt to find a place that measured up to that place so with the help of Google, I looked up places in Fort Lee and Palisades Park when I went home for the weekend. This place came up and it seemed promising because half their menu is just naengmyun. My mom and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but we both share love for cold noodles. Unfortunately this place did not quite do it for us. The service was great and the food tasted clean, but the cold noodle broth was very bland. The key to the broth is that it has a sharp and deep taste that is amplified when vinegar is added. Not sure if this is supposed to be North Korean cold noodles, which the broth is a lot more bland, but it was not doing it for us. On a hot Sunday afternoon, we stopped by this place for a refreshing bowl of Korean mool naengmyun (cold noodles) because there's no other dish that comes close to that for chasing the heat away! Upon entry, I was pleasantly surprised by their clean, bright and modern interior. They greeted us, but had some confusion regarding seating as two employees were going back and forth about which party was supposed to be seated first after we had already sat. (There was another party of 3 in wait area before us) A bit off, but Ok. My wife ordered their cold noodle and I opted for the bibim naengmyun (spicy mixed cold noodles- has no broth but zesty) because that's just my gem, and I went for their meat version because often times regular cold noodles/bibim noodles don't give enough protein and I'd be hungry in 2 hours. We were served hot broth tea (normal for naengmyun houses to do this) and two banchans. The seasoned boiled potato was slightly mushy in a good way and quite tasty. The julienned radish was good too, though I question their choice to serve this when that already comes in copious quantities in both noodles we ordered, and thus doesn't add much benefit to the diners. Food came pretty quickly and here's my take: 1. Mool Naengmyun (2/5, $17.99, Main) - What happened here? Broth was a bit too watered down and super unseasoned. Wife didn't like it so I had to adjust the seasoning by putting copious "spew" of vinegar, mustard, and even salt when vinegar alone just wasn't cutting it. That was super disappointing and surprising because, well, this is the dish a naengmyun place should excel in and it really fell flat. We ended up dousing the bowl with vinegar, more mustard, and even dash of salt because it was that off. 2. Gogi Bibim Naengmyun (4/5, $19.99, Main) - Very delicious and had tons of meats. Noodle was chewy and the sauce was perfect and delectable. I enjoyed the soft and full texture of the extra slabs of brisket they put in there, though there was maybe too much with this extra meat option. It would be nice to just have adequate amount of beef in regular bibimmyun dish. We left full but a bit bewildered on the fail of their main dish- could they have had a one-off? Being as pricey as the meals were... I am not eager to return anytime soon but will have to try once more before I rule out the place. read more

Great to do a quick walk in for some delicious cold noodles, mandoo guk (mandoo soup) or galbi tang (Short ribs soup). I've been a patron at the Closter location for years. It was exciting to find out when the 2nd location for Homung Nangmyun was opening in Fort Lee. But today, I am even happier to say that the 2nd location in Fort Lee is just as or more delicious!! A big fan of Homung Nangmyun in Closter, but it was too far to drive up to the restaurant after moving to further south in NJ. I saw the same unique naming of Homung (different pronunciation of the original city in North Korea) in Palisades Park, I decided to give it a try. The noodles, seasoning, side dishes were all the same taste to my favorite entrees in Closter! The interior is brighter than bigger, and we could find a nice spot near the window. The waitress was very responsive to our request (to make it less spicy) and owner-looking person gave thanks when we left. Stopped here on a trip back home, by chance as we stopped at the HMart around the corner. Beautiful space and waitstaff were so welcoming! We weren't up for a big meal but we got the mandoo soup and dumplings for our daughter. I know I probably should have ordered noodles as that is their specialty, but was unsure if it would affect my sugar levels a lot. I guess the mandoo wrappers would have similar effect, so, oh well! We were greeted with a warm broth tea that was delicious, a little salty, but so comforting on the cold day. Loved our mandoo soup! Flavor was so good! My only wish was that the mandoo in the soup was smaller. It was bigger than golf ball size and was a little difficult for me to eat without feeling I was doing so "inelegantly". Tried Homung Nangmyun for the first time and will definitely be coming back! The restaurant looks unassuming on the outside, but is large, bright, and airy with modern decor. The free broth is amazing and I love how they give you a big container of it to serve yourself. Their broth tastes better than Sambong, in my opinion. My boyfriend and I ordered the bibim naengmyeon and the hwe naengmyeon, respectively. The naengmyeon has a wonderful combination of flavors. It's not just spicy like other places I've tried, but it's got a little sweet and hint of sesame oil taste as well. Really delicious! We also ordered the small kalbi which was about 5 pieces for $8, not bad! The meat was a little more on the tougher side, but can't complain for kalbi that usually costs more than that. It was the perfect amount of spiciness with the skate and boiled beef and the sweet potato flour noodles were great. It also comes with unlimited broth soup which was amazing and I could drink this as a meal. The goki mool nangmyun was a little bland for me even when I doused it with mustard and vinegar. I wish that had more flavor but the noodles were great and I ordered the double which could easily feed 2-3 people. The small portion of LA galbi was also delicious. The meat in the nangmyun tastes fresh and well made. The marinated potato banchan is also delicious. The Gamja Jeon was okay, I don't think I would order it again. Family hidden gem from Closter serving the best naengmyeon (I mean best) that I've had in the US. The staff were all very attentive and polite to all guests of age and color, smiling when they saw the joy of customers enjoying the love and pride put into their food. Bibim-naengmyeon and their reg naengmyeon are equally as good with their complimentary beef broth. But I must say that, it is a MUST, to order their Galbi with the noodles. The workers were very kind and courteous definitely would give an A for service. We stopped by lunch time and ordered one mool nangmyun and one bibim nangmyun, which are basically the two most basic types offered in any Korean restaurant. After ordering, the food came out literally in about 3 mins or so. It was super fast service. Both tasted ok as far as nangmyuns go but nothing particularly exceptional. The major downside was each nangmyun cost $18 and we ended up paying $45 including tax and tip. Despite the price, the portions were way too small and ended up leaving the restaurant still hungry. They gave 2 small side dishes to go with the meal which was ok, but considering the price it was inadequate. The nangmyuns come with the customary half boiled egg and 2 small pieces of boiled beef. If they can't give more noodles at least add some cucumbers, cabbage, radish, etc... something/whatever... the value was definitely not there. I understand inflation and covid and all but paying more than $20 per person and getting a mini appetizer level noodle dish with barely anything else, I can't agree with that. read more
