They offer unique and traditional ways to enjoy a biscuit whether slathered in butter and honey or in sandwich form with chicken, gravy, jam, etc. A biscuit sandwich with arugula micro greens, sausage, egg and cheese is the way I ordered, but I was tempted to get the crab. I liked my MacGregor biscuit and the Mexican plate one was very good too. However, for the price and quality I don't think it would try it again. The staff was very friendly, so that was not an issue for me as some of the other reviewers. We stood there and talked with the cashier for a while since he was so nice (maybe it's because he was from Texas and had the good ol' southern hospitality) We did wait for what seemed like a while for being the only people there, and sadly my biscuit was cold cold in the middle (which is why the stars aren't at 5). But it was tasty, and a different spin on a biscuit for sure. First time to Pike Place, then it's worth a skip, but if you are staying in the area for a while it couldn't hurt to give it a try. read more

I have tried on multiple occasions to give honest biscuit a fair chance at earning a positive rating and my loyalty as a customer and on every occasion they have failed... Workers on very rude and have talked down to us every single time we have visited this establishment. If you don't like serving people, find another job! Biscuits have always been served hard and cold even after waiting upwards of 15 minutes for them to be reheated! What's the deal? It's not like your making them from scratch when we order them. They never have the type of biscuits I would like to purchase when I'm there. If you can't have a product available, take it off the menu! Have seen very questionable sanity actions from employees who are working like wiping noses then touching food without washing hands. Honestly terrible biscuits. I can say these are the worst biscuits and some of the worst service I have ever had. We were excited to have biscuit sandwiches for breakfast and used their app to get $3 off of our purchase of $24. Well......the app didn't give us an option for the $3 discount, so I asked the cashier for help and she said to contact the app designer. Really?!?? We waited 35 minutes for a day old re-heated dry and flavorless biscuit. The egg and sausage in the sandwich were unseasoned, overcooked and again flavorless. I could have made better at home in 5 minutes. Their Southern gravy had zero sausage and literally tasted like glue paste. I asked the owner if I could trade for something else and he acted like I asked for his first born child. We asked for salt and pepper and were provided with 2 small pepper packets. Apparently he doesn't bake/cook with salt nor does he supply to his customers. The pepper didn't help the disgusting gravy. I can honestly say it was the biggest disappointment of our wonderful Seattle trip. So disappointed that I actually finally registered for YELP and am giving this as my first review. Go anywhere else but here for biscuits. The brewery next door doesn't make biscuits but they could make a better biscuit. Other people we saw eating the biscuits we're picking and poking at the food to try and make it taste better but that didn't work. Lots of uneaten biscuits in the trash. During the few years I spent living in South Carolina, I don't think I met a single Southerner who didn't tell me about what they believed to be the requirements for the "perfect" biscuit. Some people are very passionate about biscuits. I am not one of them. Even so, I still fall victim to a craving here and there, which is exactly what happened during a two-week trip to Seattle. I decided to stop into Honest Biscuits to get my fix. Neatly tucked beneath the Pike Place Market, Honest Biscuits is easy to miss if you're unaware of the market's layout. If you manage to find it, you will be rewarded with a lovely view of the Puget Sound to enjoy in the seating area a few feet from the ordering booth. My wife decided to order a BLT for us to split and I picked from the small but interesting selection of local beers. My wife picked up our order and only moments after her first bite, I noticed her unenthusiastically picking at the sandwich. I asked her what was wrong, and she insisted I take a bite to find out myself. The sandwich was exactly what it was billed as; bacon, lettuce, tomato served on a biscuit and absolutely nothing more. I doubt anyone is interested to hear about the lettuce or tomato, but I believe it's worth noting that they were the only part of the sandwich that satisfied my expectations. The bacon was crunchy and thick cut, which is my personal preference. Unfortunately, it tasted neither salty nor smoky nor peppery. As a matter of fact, it tasted of nothing whatsoever. But I came to the restaurant for biscuits--at least that was good right? Some people like their biscuits soft and flaky, some like theirs with a crunchy exterior, some like theirs sweet, some salty, but every biscuit I've ever eaten was recognizably a biscuit. Our "biscuit" did not flake. It did not peel. There were no layers, it was not sweet and it was not salty. What we received was not a biscuit. The texture was akin to that of some hellish mixture between cornbread and the scouring pad I use to clean my griddle. The flavor, I assume, wasn't far off from that combination either; it tasted more like bacon grease than the bacon itself. And as if the taste and texture weren't enough, the sheer dryness demanded several gulps of water to ensure my bite went down. As I previously mentioned, A pre-prepared tin of Pillsbury biscuit dough does the job well enough on the rare occasions I'm in the mood for a biscuit, and I am baffled that I am more disappointed by a biscuit-themed restaurant than something I could pick up at a grocery store for a fraction of the price. Needless to say, my wife and I cut our losses and headed out after maybe two bites each. Even despite my immense dissatisfaction, Honest Biscuits does not deserve a one star review, as the service was timely, the restaurant was clean and the view was lovely. The restaurant seems to have generally good reviews from other patrons, and I hope desperately that I was unlucky and caught them on an off day. Came across here when everywhere else was busy, it's kind of hidden but service is friendly and very fast. Biscuits are enormous, you're able to share one between two people. The orange juice had a lot of pulp but tasted fresh. I also heard the guy say if it's not out within 15 minutes, it's free; ours came out less than that time frame (unfortunately lol). I've been on a biscuit kick lately and am determined to find out which of the Seattle biscuit spots is the best--weirdly enough, there are quite a few of them. Honest Biscuits was my third stop on this quest (with Morsel and Biscuit and Bean being the first two). I remembered seeing it when wandering through the new Pike Place expansion and thinking that their biscuits looked particularly large, so I definitely wanted to try it and see how they stacked up to the other two places. If you've ever been to Morsel or Biscuit and Bean, you'll know that they make some damn good biscuits. They're light, fluffy, flaky, delightfully buttery, and basically melt in your mouth. While very similar to each other, Biscuit and Bean is a bit less greasy, which I prefer. So based on that rant, Honest Biscuits clearly had high expectations to live up to. I ordered the classic Butterhole Biscuit with jam (you can also get butter, honey, and/or molasses). They only have one flavor of jam, which they don't specify on their menu, but it turned out to be strawberry. I'm unsure whether they switch out the flavor every day, or if it's always the same, but either way, their lack of variety was disappointing. Not only that, but the jam didn't even taste good; it was way too sweet and had an artificial flavor to it. And the topping on the bad topping cake is the fact that they spread it on for you instead of providing you with a small container of it so you can put it on yourself to fit your taste preferences. I'm sure you could ask for it on the side, but they didn't even ask, and obviously a first time visitor wouldn't know that they had to. The biscuit itself was pretty decent. It was denser and had a more flour-y, less buttery taste than those at Morsel and B&B, but still a good biscuit. It was very fluffy and soft, not as flaky as most biscuits I've had, but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Price wise, Honest was slightly more expensive than its competitors, coming out to $4 with tax (Morsel is $3.75 and B&B is $3.50 if I remember correctly). I think the only advantage it has is its location. It's right on the waterfront, so you can enjoy your biscuit while taking in the view. If you're in the area, it's a solid biscuit option, but I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way and braving the tourists for. read more

The egg was still gooey inside even though I insisted on a well done egg. I contemplated getting bacon and I'm glad I didn't. The pre-cooked bacon was removed from their fridge. Fresh is best. My biscuit held together for the whole meal and didn't become a pile of gluten free crumbs. They didn't have herbal tea at that time. Service: The staff was polite and a bit cold. I feel like the restaurants down by Pike Market can really be "hit and miss" as to how enjoyable and tasty they are. I was going to go to the relocated Old Stove Brewing and Honest Biscuits was right next door. I figured that I should get a bite to eat before I get a beer and I wasn't disappointed at all! There is a great view of Puget Sound here and the is a great place to enjoy with whatever you may order here. The biscuit menu has a good variety. You can even get sandwiches in muffin form. I got the B.L.T. biscuit version which was a good portioned sandwich and the bacon itself being in solid shape. I love B.L.T. 's and over the years I've had a wide range as to how good the bacon is. This falls somewhere in the middle on the bacon scale. They have some Jones Soda options to pick from as well... I got the cola...one of my favorite flavors by that soda company. Stumbled upon this place as I was roaming Pike Place Market around 7 in the morning, trying to grab a quick bite before my city tour. The smell of freshly made biscuit drew me in and I was greeted by one of the warmest smiles I had seen on this trip. Maybe he was the owner? We've tried the GF butterhole, which reminds me of grandma's biscuits growing up and the infamous MacGregor, it certainly resembles McDonalds, but far better!! Possibly due to the Beecher's cheese. I mean, who doesn't like Beecher's?! The texture, consistency, and flavor of the McGregor is amazing. You can eat it by itself or with an egg, both are delicious and filling. Go early, otherwise you might not get what you want! Pricing is decent and the menu items have a bit of twist on your standard breakfast sandwich. Something for everyone. The area is hidden away in a little corner at Pike Place but there's plenty of places downstairs to sit and enjoy your biscuit since the restaurant itself is restricted to just a couple of tables and a small bar seating area. My first impression wasn't the best because the cashier was the worst. Luckily, the large, pillowy, yet lightly crisped biscuit helped us to forget the lack in customer service. The white gravy was amazing and had a little bit of a kick to it. The wait was a bit long for a biscuit (about 25 minutes) and they may have initially even forgotten our order, but it's good. Tried this place twice via delivery service even though it's just a few block from my work (however I'm chained to my desk most mornings). Having food delivered maybe why the food has been disappointing. But you would think the food should be the same no matter how you receive it. I got the biscuits and gravy each time hoping to get a decent breakfast. The first time I got the biscuits and gravy l, the biscuits were burnt and SUPER dry. So dry that they very small amount of gravy they gave me could not soak in the biscuit. Second time I tried the biscuit and gravy, I felt they overcompensated for the last time and now the biscuits seemed super greasy. Like "omg my arteries are clogged greasy" Both times the gravy was severely lacking in flavor. Or just maybe under mixed because at least one of the bites had a clump of black pepper. I really don't recommend this place. You can find better biscuits around Seattle or even up the street on 1st (as long as you have no reservations on swearing). read more

Really just wanted something quick and easy for lunch while at the market and that proved more difficult than we would have imagined. We'd all but given up when I saw the line for Honest Biscuits and the decision was a no-brainer. The servings were huge, the biscuits were flaky and crumbly and delicious and it turned what could have been a disappointing meal into something I'll tell others about. I made mine into biscuits and gravy while my husband had the crab. I couldn't finish mine it was so big. Everything was flavorful and hearty. Lots of options to go vegan, which is a nice touch. It's a small spot and you'll invariably end up in line behind folks who don't read the menu or understand what they're ordering, so know that it can take a hot minute, but your food will come out piping hot and oh so good. read more
