Food was good - not very filling though. Could have had two bowls to fill me up. So many extras though, really added up the price. I would go back - but only for lunch. read more

Honest Mary's - Farmers Market Bowl w Sweet Potatoes, Quinoa, Mushrooms, Cashews, Avocado, and Broccoli - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

Came here for the first time today. I came here solely on the yelp recommendations. I have been craving some healthier selections lately but not able to find the things I like in one place.....Okay, that's a terrible excuse for not eating healthier...sorry. Not only does this place have the things I like but they have all my favorites in one bowl it's called the Dear Quinoa bowl...it has sweet potatoes, Lentils, Quinoa, kale and even a spicy peanut sauce that I love! The staff was energetic and fun...Great Job! I'll be back. Maybe tomorrow! read more

Looking for a quick healthy choice meal? Then this is your place! Honest Mary's offers a customized bowl which you get numerous options for rice, veggies, meat, and sauce. I like to get a steak bowl with basmati rice and basically all veggies. Portion size is just right. I personally like this place a lot more than Chipotle! Highly recommending Honest Mary's! read more

Stopped in after a trip to the Arboretum. Line was quick. I got a signature bowl, the Sedona Lime. My husband got a build your own bowl with chicken, mushrooms, slaw, black forbidden rice, kale, edamame and sesame vinaigrette. Both were tasty, but I would have liked a little more seasoning with mine. I also had the aqua Fresca, but I mixed two flavors- the watermelon and the cucumber honey. We were also looking for the calorie content but we couldn't find it. Perhaps it is published somewhere and we missed it? Overall my tummy was happy and I didn't feel bloated so I think I did some clean eating today read more

If fast, healthy, and delicious is what you're looking for then this is the place! I went here with my dad for a light meal and it was amazing! The portions were also very large for a reasonable price ($7-12) which is always a plus! The atmosphere here is super cute and chill! It's a very simple and organic looking interior and it delivers the aesthetics every instagrammer will love. The food itself is recommended only if you aren't a veggie hater hahaha. The menus here are 80% veggie options and bean types! If you generally enjoy eating healthy and vegetables then you'll definitely enjoy their food! Highly recommend this place for a power bowl trip! read more

Such a great place. A great spot to go with friends - don't have to worry about anyone with any dietary restrictions not finding a meal they will love. There are choices for everyone! Awesome staff, atmosphere and locations. I hope they make it for the long haul. Update 10/2- I've never had a bad meal here until last night. The chicken was extra fatty and the sweet potatoes were not cooked properly. They had a green/translucent color and were not toasted and delicious like normal - I actually couldn't eat most of my bowl and had to toss it :( Hope this is not a sign of things to come...maybe whoever was cooking yesterday around 6pm was new? Hoping to not get another meal like that or I might have to find a new spot :( read more

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love this place. If a healthy millennial died and went to heaven, I think this is what it would look and taste like. Honest Mary's is a somewhat "chipotle-style" healthy bowl bar where you go down the counter and pick the bases, meats, veggies, toppings, sauces, etc. you want until you have a delicious bowl. I personally love these type of restaurants and this type of food, so it was a win win to me. The sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts are both to die for, so I double up on those. I think if you're someone that gets overwhelmed by a "build your own" bowl, their preset bowls are pretty good too! My husband is one of those people, and he ordered the Sedona Lime and it was very tasty. I would say, it does seem to get quite crowded during the lunch rush, but is fairly empty around dinner. But SOO good, you have to try it! read more

Like this cute and contemporary place. The food was healthy and very yummy. The price was friendly. The fountain drinks were also healthy.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite healthy options! This place is like the Chipotle of superfoods. You can go with one of their preconfigured bowls, or you can build your own, which is what I usually do. They offer tofu, chicken, steak, or an extra market side (veggie). My bowl usually consists of tofu, Texas sweet potatoes, black beans, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, avocado with a lemon garlic sauce. So dang tasty!...and without the guilt! Reasonably priced, and a quick casual place to dine. I dig the tea selection as well. They also offer kombucha on tap. Pretty cool. Give 'em a go! I take no responsibility for your addiction, because you WILL be hooked. read more

Honest Mary's - My perfect build your own bowl selection - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

Wow, the aesthetic here is so on point. White marble tables, hanging plants, books on display that you'll never read... This place is definitely Instagram worthy. I decided to build my own bowl with chicken, quinoa, mushrooms, sweet potato, edamame, and Asian slaw. Topped it all off with their spicy peanut sauce. It was very good, but also very simple (you could totally make this at home). I would love it if they could add the nutritional information on their menu since this is a "healthy" food place and some people like me may be dieting and would like to know how many calories and protein are in each food. I'll come back to try other combinations, but I really liked the mushrooms and sweet potato. read more

I could come here again and again. Yes, a lunch here is more expensive than a lunch elsewhere, but there's no tip to factor in, and the food is delicious AND healthy. I'm glad not to have to choose between something that tastes good and something that's good for me. The interior is beautiful, kind of a Magnolia-esque take on a restaurant with white subway tiles, open wooden & metal shelving, and lots of plants. The line can be long at lunchtime, but it tends to move and I've never had to wait for a seat since many people take their food to go. Tip -- skip the line and order online to pick up at the shelves next to the register. Those orders bypass the line and get taken care of right away. Sign up for the fivestars app if you plan to frequent HM. Coupons are sent out for free agua frescas, bogo 1/2 off, etc. Kids are even considered, with gold-colored cups full of crayons and coloring pages in the shelves by the water stand. My favorite is the build your own bowl with steak, sweet potatoes, rainbow carrots, portobello mushrooms, edamame, goat cheese, and cashew lime crema. The almond butter cookie was also a nice treat one time. I was least excited by a poke and soba bowl I tried one. For poke, I would rather go to Poke House or make my own. My only complaint is the lack of recycling options. The bowls, silverware, and napkins all look either recyclable or compostable. I would also not go here for dinner as it might not be filling enough. read more

Clean, flavorful and tasty! I tried the steak bowl with the black forbidden rice. Everything was well portioned, delicious and unique! A friend described it as a healthy/fancy chipotle. Sounds about right! Kinda pricey but it's a cool place to go once in a while! read more

The best thing about this place is the customer service and the varied and robust menu. The menu offers a wide variety of options for the gluten free/dairy free diner and is easy to customize to your liking. I find the flavors in their sauces a bit bland but you can bring your own packets of gluten free soy sauce (which I get from Pei Wei take out), to liven things up a bit. The only drawback is that the chairs are very uncomfortable and the tables are packed in too close together. I guess that may be the reason why there are always so many people lined up for takeout orders. It's not a place you want to linger in. read more

10 stars, if I could. Let's write this like a good ol' fashioned essay. Intro, 3 main points, and a conclusion, shall we? We finally go around to trying this new spot earlier this week. I wish there were more locations around Austin, and am looking forward to a time when there is. Honest Mary's is the best new fast-casual spot in Austin because of their selection/choice of foods, aesthetic/interior decor, and their price point. First off, they're nailing the trend with bowls. People want options, healthy food that's delicious, and also food that is a bit trendy (whether we want to admit it or not,) and HM does all three. All healthy (in their own sense) options, completely customizable, and bowls are one of the hottest things to happen to Instagram in years. Second, the decor is also the most Instagrammable, millennial, minimalist, chich spot I've been to in Austin lately. It's clean, simple, not fussy, but easy on the eyes. Nothin' worse than a spot with amazing food and a bunch of random shit on the walls that makes no sense. Last, the price is right. Not too much, not too little. I see they try to source locally, which is great, and always brings the price up a notch above a Panera or the like, which I don't mind to pay if I'm getting more local ingredients. My husband and I ate here for what it would cost us to eat at any other fast casual spot (or Whole Foods hot bar) and under $20 total, which I think was super reasonable for the quality and flavor. Overall I hope that HM can keep the quality, integrity, and core brand values top notch as they are sure to grow rapidly. I also hope they don't get TOO sucked into only trendy decor and food, and keep supporting local growers. read more

I'm not a big fan of "build your own" assembly line food, but Honest Mary's is doing it better than anywhere else I've experienced it. Fresh, colorful, local, and healthy are just a few adjectives that seem applicable here. I've been twice and ordered one of their signature theme bowls each time, with one or two substitutions, which they were eager to accommodate. The ingredients all seemed to harmonize well, while retaining their individual identities. For protein, I've sampled the chicken, tofu, and steak, each of which were tasty and fresh - a cut above the sad-looking protein offerings I find at burrito/bowl joints. The inside is fresh, airy, and modern. They offer a nice selection of beer and inexpensive wine options. I'm ambivalent about their no-cash policy (plastic only) but it's nice they have signage that explains it as a streamlining/cost-saving measure that's reflected in their prices, which are certainly reasonable. Minor gripes for hard-to-find cutlery and napkins, as well as ambiguous signals for expectations on bussing your table on the way out. But those are minor complaints, with a solid net "thumbs up" for this new bowleteria. read more

This is a great lunch spot if you're in the area! I wish there were more locations in Austin. Delicious, locally sourced, fresh food. When you can taste how fresh the ingredients are, you know it's a solid place. You can order a signature bowl (maybe 6-8 options) or create your own (which is what I ended up doing). Very clean and also cute interior. Staff is friendly and helpful. Clean eating is easy when there is a place like Honest Mary's! read more

Guys, this place is like Chipotle for clean eaters!! It is SO SO good! They have preset bowls that you can order, I recommend the Dear Quinoa with Chicken. OR... you can make your own bowl which is always more fun in my opinion. All of their ingredients seem very fresh and wholesome. Every time I come here, I think the portions are smaller and get slightly upset BUTTT as soon as I sit down to eat my bowl, I'm already FULL halfway thru. So don't let the smaller portions fool you, the veggies will fill you up faster than you expect! The inside of this place is very modern and clean and minimal. The employees are usually happy but not ecstatic which is fine I guess? haha. ALSO- They use FiveStars app so be sure you give your phone number to rack up them points! I will say, you have to spend $200 to get a free bowl, but, if you come here often, then it is something fun to work towards! Enjoy healthy clean eating at Honest Mary's! See you there:) read more

Okay Mary, whoever you are... I finally tried your place for lunch. I really hate this concept of gluten-free, organic, blah blah, buzzword, hippy-dippy shit... but you know what, the food at Honest Mary's is pretty good. I had a Soba Noodle dish with Chicken and other random things thrown in with some sriracha sauce stuff on the side. I thought it was really tasty! The only downside I could find is the price. Just because it's all "organic" and "free-range" and "sustainable" makes the price jump up and that's annoying. However, it's good food that I would recommend to pretty much anyone. Bonus points for the fast and courteous service. read more

Mmmmmm. Very busy at lunch but the line moves faster than you would expect. Lots of interesting ingredients like black rice, green French lentils, and crispy chickpeas. A nice selection of more frequently seen healthy treats like pumpkin seeds, roasted vegs, quinoa, micro greens, etc. too. Everything is very fresh and high quality. You can see the staff roasting the vegs right behind the serving line. I like the wines and kombucha on tap and I liked building my own bowl. I'm not a big eater so it was plenty of food for me, but larger appetites may still be hungry afterwards. I did pop an extra buck for an additional scoop of goat cheese since the scoops are teeny tiny. I like the cashless operation as it moves so much faster. Plenty of seating even with a busy lunch crowd. In case you are interested, my farmer's market bowl had black rice, arugula, French green lentils, roasted beets, goat cheese, crispy chickpeas, and lemon garlic sauce. I enjoyed it immensely. Everything was cooked perfectly- no soft or soggy items. My midwestern steak eating hubby would not love this, but if you like hipster vegan local farm fresh restaurants, you'll probably love Mary's. read more

Honest Mary's - Busy at lunch - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

Great simple food with a ton of vegan options. I had the Songbird signature bowl. Roasted beets, rainbow carrots, French green lentils, sweet potato, pumpkin seeds, steamed kale, and microgreens with tahini citrus miso sauce. Plus they have Kosmic Kombucha on tap! They also have a couple of choices for beer and wine. You order your food at the counter and watch as they put it together (like Chipotle). All the food is very fresh and colorful even though we came at an off-hour. They serve a lot of locally-sourced ingredients, and the place is kept clean and neat with modern decor. Great place for lunch or quick healthy dinner. read more

To be honest, I wasn't a fan. Sorry Mary. I came in with pretty high expectations because my friends raved about this place and left mostly disappointed. The breakdown: The ambiance was nice - bright, clean, Austin, modern. The menu was on the easier side to navigate despite the many make your own options. Think of this place as a really healthy Chipotle. The food - People describe it as the Flower Child equivalent. Sorry to disappoint folks - quality at Flower Child is better. From the wild rice to ancient grains flavoring, Honest Mary's fell a bit short. Between my friends and me, we got the Song Bird (wild rice), the Aloha Poke, and the Sedona Lime. They were all okay. Things to note: poke only means tuna (no other options there). Drinks seemed to be a lighter, less flavorful version of juiceland. The thing that redeemed it was that the prices weren't bad for the amount of food you got. Overall, if you want to quick healthy go-to, I can see coming here for lunch, but if you want a nice healthy dinner, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Awesome awesome awesome. The food hit the spot. Open until 9 even on Sunday and the place was full. Flavoring is amazing. Did the Aloha Poke bowl. From a first timer: Walked in looked nice, asked if it was our first time. Prices looked high but for what you get, it's worth it. Cashless system, that's cool but take mobile payments like ApplePay. Signage says it's meant to be modern payment option but with no cash I would expect mobile payment options. Either way, still awesome. I plan to tell everyone at Apple/ work about this place. It's a perfect place for lunch from our corporate location. At least try it before you make a decision based on the reviews. + more stars. read more

Great place to go for a healthy and filling meal! You can choose from their signature bowls or make your own! I usually opt for their Aloha Poke bowl with Ahi Tuna. So good!! Went here yesterday! The line was a bit long and the place was packed, but we managed to find a seat. This place is like Chipotle, but healthy. Decided to build my own bowl with forbidden rice, tofu, kale, sweet potato, chickpeas, and apple slices. The sweet potato and chickpeas were very good, and the rest were okay. However, I did finish most of the bowl, which is not typical of me to do, so that says something! Will definitely be returning. read more

What an awesome find! I'm new to Austin and love finding places that a. Support local economy, b. Stay away from the dirty dozen, c. Offer delicious, nutritious, nutrient dense meal options! I love that you can customize your bowls. The line was incredibly long, so maybe order ahead? Also, quite expensive considering the portions! Nevertheless, the flavor and overall experience was fantastic! Will definitely be back! read more

This place is great for a quick healthy meal to grab and take with you, or is a good lunch spot to sit and enjoy the chill atmosphere. There are so many combination options, but not overwhelming. More like "I can't wait to come back and try ___". The spicy peanut sauce was great with my quinoa/chicken/sweet potato combo and I'll be hard pressed to try the other dressings. I also recommended trying the tea/Aqua frescas! read more

My pastor recently introduced me to chiastic poetry, utilized in the Bible. The format applies two or more clauses that must mirror one another in meaning, albeit with different verbiage and grammar. The structure can be drawn across multiple clauses, but must stay symmetrical throughout the work. Example: ABBA; MNONM; The cat chased the dog. The dog was chased by the cat. My review will loosely follow this style. Honest Mary's provides a quick and wholesome meal. The environment feels like home, inviting and clean. Ingredient quality stands above the rest. The sauces are excellent, my favorite being the cashew lime crema. I most enjoy the cashew lime crema, but all of the housemade sauces are great. The restaurant holds extremely high standards for its ingredients. Honest Mary's creates a restful ambiance. A convenient and healthy option does Honest Mary's offer. read more

This place is incredible! Nelson, the owner was very kind. The food is honestly amazing. You can select a variety of signature bowls or build your own bowl. I got the core power yoga bowl with tricolor quinoa, organic arugula, organic apples, beets, crispy chicken peas, Texas goat cheese, cons, apple cider vinaigrette. I also added steak, chicken, and lentils. Everything was perfectly textured and cooked. I will be coming back again tomorrow for dinner. read more

Honest Mary's never disappoints! The food is always fresh, prepared well and filling. The portion and price are on point. I am always satisfied with my meal and I have tried several. This is one of our favorite go-to spots, it's healthy and delicious! It also gets bonus points because we can share with our little one knowing that it's made with real ingredients. As another reviewer said, this was a coin flip for me between three and four stars. I've only been to Honest Mary's twice, and I ordered the same thing each time: a BYO bowl with tofu. The first time was an amazing experience -- warm, flavorful black rice with perfect tofu. I didn't even need to use the peanut sauce, though that was amazing. My second visit was less-than thrilling. The tofu was too salty or had perhaps marinated too long, and I had to stop eating my bowl. The rice was a lot less flavorful as well. Honest Mary's is brand new, so I'm sure they've got kinks to work out. I hope things become more consistent, because it is one of the few healthy options in the area (besides salads). read more

I'm a huge fan of chipotle and this place reminded my friends and I of a boujee chipotle. The interior had a very clean and fresh look, and was very nicely decorated. I chose to build my own bowl and all the ingredients they had to offer were organic hence the relatively more expensive prices. I got the roasted organic chicken with basmati lime rice, roasted brussels sprouts, portobello mushrooms, Asian slaw and Texas goat cheese. I also chose to cover my bowl in ginger chile sriracha sauce. Overall, all the ingredients tasted very fresh! My favorite ingredient was probably the roasted brussels sprouts! If I could have changed one thing about my bowl, I probably would have not chosen the ginger chile sriracha sauce. It just had this spicy sour taste that did not compliment my bowl well. Overall, I would definitely come back and try some of the other ingredients and sauces on the menu! read more

Good but not my favorite. I commend Honest Mary's for their fresh and healthy ingredients - it's hard to find a classic American bowl place with a large variety in Austin. However, I found the amount of ingredients and toppings they let you add a little frustrating. You can only choose 2 farmers sides (sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, lentils, mushrooms, etc) and 2 toppings (like goat cheese, pumpkin seeds, pickled onions, etc) on top of that and they charge you for any extras. It made building a bowl to my choosing, while not spending more than $12, very difficult. read more
