There are plenty of cozy places to sit both inside and outside, and today they even had a musician performing on the patio, which made for such a relaxing atmosphere. We ordered breakfast and iced coffee from the café. The Brown Sugar Maple Croissant Breakfast Sandwich was absolutely delicious! Even though the café was very busy, the ordering line moved quickly, and they brought our drinks and food right to our table--a really nice touch. We also stopped by the bakery. Even later in the morning, there was still a great selection of baked goods. We brought home strawberry lemonade muffins to enjoy tomorrow, and I can't wait to try them. The general store was filled with adorable locally made products, along with a nice selection of take-and-bake meals that we'll definitely be coming back for. The entire property is thoughtfully designed with charming little seating areas scattered throughout. It's the kind of place where you want to slow down, relax, and spend a while exploring. One tip: the front parking lots are small, but there's a much larger parking area in the back. This is definitely a new favorite for us, and we'll be back again soon!

Located in Unionville pretty close to the Farmington River, this adorable coffee shop will provide you the fuel before or after your walk. They offer lunch, breakfast and coffee options. They have a spacious interior as well as a few tables outside. Their large menu of coffee, teas and energy drinks was intriguing. I had to get the Peeps Latte when I saw it listed on their Specials menu. It was ready quickly. This was adorable looking, it had three colorful peeps sitting on top of the marshmallow cold foam. This vanilla based latte, was equally tasty as it was looking. After my pick me up, I picked myself up and went for a walk, the trial is really intended for cyclists, but we made do. Brewed Awakening does not present as a craft coffee shop focused on bean origins and things like that. It's a small, old school coffee shop, with limited inside place to sit and stand. The space is not fancy. It's more functional. But I'll tell you something . . . almost every usable inch of that space was occupied by people who seemed like long time regulars. Maybe like 5 to 6 people, but people who were happy to be there. The coffee was reasonably priced. The food, included hot dogs, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, classic sandwiches. Also reasonably priced by modern standards. There seems to be a New York connection to the shop because they use Nathan's Hot Dogs and the donuts on the counter came from New York. The woman who I assume was an owner was the only person working. She was very nice and helpful. I suspect she's a reason why they have a loyal customer base. I thought about ordering a hot dog at 8 a.m., but I had food plans in Mystic. I just ordered a Black Iced Coffee. The ice cubes were that thin round tube style with holes on the top and bottom, that you used to see a lot in restaurant fountain soda. The iced coffee itself was about average. If I just wanted a high end black iced coffee, I probably wouldn't return. I would definitely return to check out their reasonably priced food in warmer months when you can sit outside. In any event, if you're looking for a place with a lot of character, Brewed Awakening would be a good choice. It's close to the Route 9 Exit that you take on your way to the Clinton Outlets. 3.5 Stars

Coffee was strong enough to punch through the sweet and was well balanced as a drink. The sandwich was plentiful on the pulled pork and the egg was cooked well. Bun was soft and buttery but not pillowy. Which is good because you want a breakfast sandwich to be structural enough to hold its shape after each bite. Price was about 20 for the sandwich and latte, which isn't too bad for the quality you get. Much better than your fast food chains, even if you get the same service. The bread was airy, chewy, and perfectly golden brown. I did enjoy the latte I got because of how bold the coffee was.
