Did you know parkville market does breakfast? I didn't, until just recently when I decided to find a new breakfast spot and this place came up on my list. Came here just as they opened, and honey brunch was the only open stall. I ordered the pollen smoothie, a cold brew coffee, a churro Nutella donut, and their fluffernutter special French toast with real maple syrup. Owner operator was alone, fried up a fresh donut for me while I watched. She makes all donuts on order. No donuts are made in advanced. Needless to say it was delicious. Crispy outside, warm and pillowy soft inside. Sweet and slightly messy, a nice breakfast treat. The cold brew coffee uses a dark roast from a local roaster. Good quality, not bitter but very potent. Needed a little milk to curb the heavy roasted coffee flavors. The pollen smoothie was a tad too sweet. I was hoping that there would be some pollen on top but it was just a name. The French toast was a very good bread and the honey peanut butter was sweet and earthy. The marshmallow fluff was very gooey, and the bread was a tad too fresh so the custard didn't absorb very well. The real maple syrup was a very dark syrup, which has a lot of caramel notes and a woody finish. Very tasty with the sweet of the French toast and toppings. The price is a little high. 4 dollars for a donut is up there, but it's really fresh so it makes up for the price. Everything else is comparable pricing to the other stalls, so not bad. It's a great addition to the market, and worth a try if you're around. I can see them getting very busy with fresh donuts, and I hope they can keep up with demand when people find them. Right now they are relatively new, so there's not a lot of buzz yet. If you're looking for an up and coming star, this place has the qualities of one.

Just across from the Dirty Soda bar is one of the newest additions to the vast array of fantastic food at Parkville Market. I had the Walnut Stuffed French Toast. The flavors were super and the amount of walnuts was amazing. My elderly neighbor was with me and was a little taken aback by all the choices. She ended up with a plain French Toast which wasn't even on the menu. What a nice gesture that was. The two coffees were hot and strong. The only drawback was being able to truly enjoy my choice with plastic utensils. It was difficult to manage to get all the goodness and cut it into edible bites. Taking it home wouldn't have worked either because it was ready to eat right there. Maybe a stronger set of utensils would help. With their early hours they will def be successful!

"Rose darling come to me All I ask of you…read moreIs make my wildest dreams come true" (Steely Dan) You probably don't need a PHD in linguistics to surmise that the Italian words "La Rosa" translates into the English words "The Rose". And if your wildest dreams happen to revolve around Italian comfort foods and well stacked sandwiches, well, do I have a place to make those wildest dreams come true for you! La Rosa is your quintessential Italian deli with dozens of grinders, paninis, wraps, salads, soups and a daily hot bar of pasta and chicken entrees. We ordered a grilled Panino Melenzani ($12) with eggplant, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. It was grilled right in front of our eyes, so it was as fresh as could be. It had plenty of tender sliced eggplant, yummy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I went with my usual, an Italian Combo (half size for $14) stacked a mile high with Ham, Turkey, Genoa, Mortadella, Capicola, and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers on a fresh loaf of Italian bread. It was superb, and the portion size was so generous that it lasted me for three lunches. As we were paying, we spied some home-made cookies by the register and grabbed an oatmeal and a chocolate chip to take home. Everything ran $32 for a ton of wonderful Italian goodness. We didn't get a chance to check out the hot bar. It wasn't open today because LaRosa's Marketplace was closing early for personal reasons. But I promise you, the next time we visit we'll leave with one of their chicken or pasta entrees. We love our Italian delis, and LaRosa's has immediately shot up into our top tier.

Which brings me to my newly crowned favorite sandwich - Tongue On Rye; ask for the tip slices very lean. I even got a dependable guarantee from our server she'd provide an unforgettable tongue sandwich. In a comedic mood, I asked our server to not give me any lip! She doubled over giggling and said thank you for your honesty and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I've been asked just Tongue with "No Lip." Despite the comedy and light hearted conversation the table for two was perfect Harry & Sally style! Watching the action, enjoying the lean tongue on rye with mustard an unforgettable delight.

Quality is still good, price and portion are askew…read more We came here as a quick sandwich bite on our way around the state. Service was good, and the ambiance is still lively. The still tastes good, with some exceptions. The frier oil seemed burnt, so the pickle chips we had just had that little bit of carbon taste on them. The pickle chips batter was very thick, and the mayo was the only respite. The sandwich, still tasty, seemed much smaller than normal, the meat still had good flavor, but the portion was lighter in comparison. The prices are also a bit high. The sandwich coming out to about 15 bucks. The bargain is very much gone now, and the portion is okay for a sandwich but pricy because of this shrinkage. Not shown are the overcooked onion rings. We returned those and the server promptly removed them from the bill. So really good customer service. I opted for a brownie for dessert, and the brownie was a disappointment. Too sugary, no flavor, gummy, and disappointingly small and thin. A detractor for sure. As a deli, it feels like it's on the decline. I know things are pricier now, but what you pay vs what you get doesn't match up. I'm hoping they pivot from this path, but right now it's no longer my go-to. It's still tasty, just pricy
