We passed by 29 Sudbury yesterday and saw the NOW OPEN banner outside the new Honey Dew location. Happy to have a Honey Dew relatively nearby, I took a quick drive this morning. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses, so parking could be an issue during hours when all the stores are open. They have two spaces marked 10 MINUTE PARKING which will be handy when parking is full. It's a cute, relatively small store with no drive thru, and the exterior doesn't look like a traditional Honey Dew store so if you weren't looking for it you might miss it. They have everything you would find at the regular stores...and, mini Bota Box WINE! Not sure if the other stored have it, but I was surprised. The donuts all looked fresh and appetizing. Although I went with the intention of getting a bagel, I couldn't resist trying an apple spice donut. It was DELICIOUS! Also had a maple cream coffee which smelled more like maple than it tasted but was still good. Can't wait to return and try more of the food options. Let me start by saying that I very much enjoy what HD has to offer. I much prefer their product over Dunkin'. So it saddens me that I will no longer be able to enjoy their coffee or breakfast sandwiches again. On June 26th I entered the Hudson St, Sudbury location. Here is what I posted to HD. "The employees at Honey Dew/Stoney Brook Market 29 Hudson St, Sudbury aren't wearing masks. Even tho they have signs requiring the use of masks "for the safety of their employees and customer". I won't be getting coffee there for the time being." I let a week go by, and decided to give them another go. "The staff at Honey Dew/Stoney Brook Market 29 Hudson St, Sudbury again, are not protecting their customers. A sign is posted that clearly states, "you must wear a mask to enter'. Once inside it is clearly okay to take it off. The gentleman at the market cash register and the young man at the Honey Dew counter will have very healthy chins. And the poor young lady making breakfast sandwiches, no mask at all. This is the ONLY place I have been to in the past 3 plus months of this pandemic where I have seen such disregard for the public. Fix this Honey Dew Donuts. Until then Dunkin' will be getting my business. I am so disappointed." I hadn't been back since. Fast forward to this past Saturday, I decided to stop for coffee at another HD location, this time in Hudson. "Yet another of your franchises not taking the pandemic seriously. Main St, Hudson, MA 01749. Employees with well-protected chins and necks. Not one customer wearing a mask. SERIOUSLY, are we in freakin' Florida?! I thought we were smarter in the North East. This is the second Honey Dew that I have encountered in the past 3 weeks that does not seem to care for the well being of its patrons." After that last encounter HD wants my phone number to discuss the incidents "offline". They refuse to use email to address the situation. My guess, they don't want to put anything in writing. Well, this morning, in a moment of weakness I stopped at the Sudbury location. It will be THE last time. I was happy to see that masks were being worn. However, I was not happy to feel as though I was being attacked by the franchise owner. He confronted me stating that he KNEW I was the person attacking and constantly complaining about his stores(apparently he owns the one in Hudson too). Aggressively stating that I have no idea how hard it is, and I should give him a break. If I am not comfortable in his store, then my business was not welcome. He also attacked the fact that I had a beard and this made him uncomfortable. Well, you know, I work in food service too man. I do know how hard it is. I wear my freakin' mask all day too! It is hot, uncomfortable and a pain in the ass, but I do it. I am not expecting much. Just wear your mask and hold your employees up to the same standard. In this crazy f'd up COVID-19 world, we need to be vigilant and keep each other safe. If we start relaxing our resolve to keep others safe, our guests/customers may follow our lead. Located inside a convenience store in the new shopping center/strip mall in the center of Sudbury. Right off 27. Hard to find since they don't have the ubiquitous Honey Dew sign on the road side. Very minimal parking in the lot. But they do have a few 20 minute spots in front of the store. I honestly don't know if there are any other coffee options in Sudbury center. I'd probably stop in more often except I tend to travel through in afternoon rush hour- traveling north on 27 - and this is located on the wrong side of the road. I'd give no stars if possible. This was my second time in this location. The first was slow and filled in with rude stares. But just now, I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and found no one! Could've freaking robbed the place in broad day light. I cleared my throat and tapped my fingers on the counter and still, nothing. They don't give you the right amount of money back if your a kid one time I was there I bought a sprite can, a small bag of Doritos and some tic tacs the total price was 4.59 and I gave the cashier 10.00 dollars and he gave me 43 cents back so if your a kid check how much money the give you but if you tell them about they'll give you the right amount of money back and sometimes when there's only one person working there the one person just leaves for like 10 minutes when it's no where near closing time. Last Sunday was our first experience with Honey Dew of Sudbury on Rt. 27 and we were extremely pleased from every aspect of customer. A very large order of donuts was placed(20 dozen) with specific requests to accommodate the very young and senior citizen population. They were ready for pick up at 6:45am per request. They were packaged perfectly in boxes of 6 to avoid overcrowding. The quality of the donut was superb and extremely fresh. We requested a total of five boxes of java jos. The first two were available w the donut order. We then returned at 9am for the last three boxes.The proprietor insisted on making the remainder of the Java Jo at the last minute to assure that they would remain as warm as possible. The people in the congregation were very pleased as were the children due to the abundance of sprinkle colored donuts which they love.
