I've been wanting to try this place for so long and finally got the chance to check it out. Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. We got the 8 piece wing and drum bucket but they ended up getting us a regular bucket with some breasts. We also got the cauliflower appetizer and did not regret it. My my my this place is good! It was super crowded, but we got seated within 20 mins. The waffles are probably the best I've had. They're fluffy and super soft. You know how Belgian waffles have a tendency to be tough and dry? This was not that! These are also seasoned with cinnamon and what tasted like all spice. Just yum. Easily a 10/10! This was my first visit to D.C. and a friend suggested I stop by Honeymoon; I'm so glad I did. Went to their establishment on 11/18/25 (yesterday). The first order of the 8-piece hot honey chicken we ordered out of excitement was served to us as old lukewarm chicken. Mind you the price of this entree is over $30, so we sent it back and asked for fresh chicken. The establishment agreed and made us a new batch that took about 5 additional minutes. I had my skepticism on the prompt delivery. It was steaming hot so, I bit into the chicken which are the uploaded photos I have provided and the chicken was now undercooked. I confronted the managers and they tried to make me pay full price with a 25% coupon and tried to insist that I pay for undercooked chicken as the GM mentioned that their fryer had been having some issues insinuating it's not their fault so I needed to pay. After an additional 30 minutes of back-forth, we finally came to a resolution which I ended up not having to pay for the undercooked chicken but I had to pay for the sides, which I didn't mind. I just wanted to leave. The next day (today), I have a strong case of diarrhea and nausea from what I ate not realizing that the chicken was undercooked. Of course I immediately stopped eating after I noticed that the taste of it was off. I don't recommend going here. Terrible customer service. My friends were in town and I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to check a spot off of my "must try" list and it did not disappoint! The ambiance inside is very homey and reminds me of a small town diner. The service was good; they were helpful and attentive making sure to explain to us the order process as well as the menu. It was about 7 pm on a Sunday night and they were already out of stock of a lot of things, mostly drinks. But we were all able to eventually order everything we wanted. There seemed to be an issue with the tables being numbered because the waitstaff asked us multiple times what our table number was so that they could drop off orders. I got the strawberry pineapple lemonade and it was delicious! One of the best mixed lemonade drinks I've had. As a table we ordered the bucket which was the perfect amount of chicken for 3 people. The sides were also great. The mashed potatoes had an amazing flavor. The mac and cheese was good but could use more salt. The rolls were pillowy but I felt they had an odd aftertaste. The tenders were good and had a good amount of seasoning on it. The sauces were also really nice and you're able to ask for more if needed. I came to Honeymoon Chicken while in town to meet friends. Although we came on a Monday well after the lunch rush the place seemed to stay packed inside the small restaurant so we ate at the bar. We ordered buffalo chicken wings, 3 piece white spicy honeymoon chicken and sides using the QR code at the table. The 3 piece was delicious and worthy of the accolades. I was surprised to find the Mac and cheese wasn't very good it tasted as if it was from a box. The Arnold Palmer was a nice accompaniment to the chicken. I travelled up north and wasn't going to deal with the craziness of waiting for Menya down the street. Enjoyed this gem of a chicken shop with modern diner vibes. Although the QR code and paying through the toast site was a more automated experience than a traditional sit down service, the staff were warm and polite enough despite being quite busy with getting orders out throughout the entire time I was there. Watching them work together and seeing how efficient they were was an interesting experience! A staff member greeted a while after I sat down at the counter, and water was brought out pretty soon after I figured out and submitted my order. I went with the three piece combo, which was nicely fried and mostly hot (wing was not as hot), and definitely filled me up. There is a QR code on the table for you to scan to place your order. Super convenient if you want to split the tab and pay for your own bill. There are a variety of options to select from on the menu, honeymoon chicken (honey-dusted or dipped in honeymoon's signature hot sauce), chicken sandwiches, crispy mushroom sandwich and the shrimp Po Boy. The star of the show is the fried chicken, I prefer the honey dipped chicken. It's juicy and crispy at the same time, that first bite just melts in your mouth. We tried a few sides, the honey dipped sprouts are so good. The Mac & cheese and the mashed potatoes were okay. Next time, I would to try the kale blue cheese slaw and the squash. We finished our meal off with the pies. Pecan and Apple are the two options, my favorite is the apple. And washed everything down with a strawberry lemonade, so good and sweet. I really struggled with this review because my first impressions were not great when I tried to call in while I was driving to make my order and I was informed they don't take phone orders. As I got there, there was an extremely long line to get to the cash register with people that we're totally unprepared when they got to the front of the line because they were too stupid to read the menus. As I got to the front of the line, I ordered my bucket of chicken and a Korean fried chicken sandwich which I was going to eat there. When I sat at the counter, I was bypassed three separate times just to order a beer and that's where I stopped the girl from taking another order because she kept on passing me up and finally got my beer ordered which also took a long time. As I got my fried chicken sandwich, I opened it up and was unimpressed by the chicken to bun ratio. Now I must say the chicken sandwich was OK, not great or outstanding just OK. In my opinion if they made the chicken sandwich with just a little bit more chicken so that I didn't have to throw away a quarter of the bun and not make it so sloppy wet they would have an excellent chicken sandwich. If you have to charge a couple of dollars more to put out a better sandwich, I wouldn't be against that but I've had far better chicken sandwiches. I think that if they got their service issues dialed in and started to take phone orders things would move much faster and more efficiently rather than have people bunched up in the front of the restaurant. I would've given this place three stars for all of this, especially considering the distance I traveled, but when I got home and tasted a few pieces of the chicken, I thought to myself now that's some tasty chicken.
