Riding my bike is like hunting for treasure. Today I found a gold mine. A small family owned donut shop. The name of the shop is called Honey Donuts. There located in a small shopping complex off of Laguna Boulevard. When you walk in you can't help but notice all the different varieties of delicious donuts, scones and danishes in a glass display case. They also sell freshly brewed coffee to go with your donuts. I am a scone kind of guy. So naturally I bought a berry scone. I have bought many scones in my lifetime but have found Honey Donuts to be the best! Most of the other scones that I had tried elsewhere were usually hard, dry, and very crumbly. What a big mess.! Their scone on the other hand had the texture of a biscuit infused with wild berries and drizzled with a light frosting. My wife had ordered a chocolate donut filled with lemon custard. Unfortunately they had run out. To my surprise the owner said "No Problem" Without hesitation she custom made one for her right on the spot. Now that's customer service at it's best. They are open from 5am-2pm 7day a week. Their prices we're cheaper than there competition. So the next time you have the urge for something sweet, don't forget the donuts. It's time for me to hop on my bike and seek out a new adventure. Until we meet again. read more

I can no longer give Honey's Donuts 5 stars due to their Low Donut Stock at 9:30am when they're supposed to be open into the early afternoon. Yes, they do have good tasting donuts but if I'm not able to eat it, then what? I've been coming here for many years now and have noticed that in the last 9 months, they have very little selection mid-to-late morning. I should have learned my lesson after the first few times but have been coming back hoping for better selection. Great hole in the wall local joint. I come to this plaza weekly for my ups drop offs. Notice their donut signs, but never really stopped by or went in. But my craving for chocolate donuts and my thirst for coffee had me heading to their doorsteps. Place opens later than normal donut shops. Came here around 2:30pm. Got my donut and java chip fix's. They have a large varieties of donuts, including cronuts and ham and cheese donuts. Prices are very generous and fair. Bought half a DS worth of donuts. Owners were friendly and kind. Very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely make this my go to donut fix. Donuts were soft and freshly tasteful with an afternoon purchase. read more

Fantastic little donut shop by Franklin and Laguna Blvd run by the same people for years. It's always friendly, and the donuts some of the tastiest to boot. Every morning was the same; stroll up to the yellow "DONUTS" sign that indicates where they are, with a beehive sign with the name of the place in the front door. It's a quaint inside of pale-tan walls with wood paneling coming halfway up, various photos of donuts and beverages hang on said walls, a black menu and large glass display that shows everything they crank out every morning. It's a no-fuss selection of crullers, old-fashioned, rings and bars, fritters, and a few speciality donuts. My typical order includes a dozen donut holes (glazed bites of goodness), maple old-fashioned, and a special donut that is usually their maple butterfly (basically two cinnamon rolls baked together and topped with maple icing). That or a chocolate bar filled with chocolate and topped with extra chocolate chips. The dough is buttery, always fresh, and topped with just enough icing to be satisfying and not be overly-sweet. Even on busy days - usually at the door - they get through the line in a timely manner. Get there early since A) most are hot and fresh, and B) so you can get some of the more popular options before they run low. Usually, I find that a good chunk gets nabbed from baker's dozen boxes for what I assume are business meetings. In a world of novelty donuts, it's nice to always have a place that gets the basics right served in a chill little donut shop. A must try for anyone a fan of donuts. read more

I've tried a few donut places in Elk Grove before coming here, honeys donuts has the fluffy light donuts that I like so this will be my new go to spot. I got a half dozen, the chocolate bar and chocolate raised are really good. The chocolate on top is chocolate-y without being overly sweet and the dough is light and delicate. The sugar raised was also fluffy and not overly sweet, which I enjoy. It was 8 am and they still had a good selection, I've come at 9:30am and they were mostly gone. Updated Review: Donuts are inexpensive and delicious. They also have really yummy smoothies and milkshakes available now. I like their smoothies a lot more compared to other places. The one downside is that their "large" sized cups are like an in between of Starbucks' tall and grande. They also offer a new stamp card for drinks only. read more

They're ok. I'm not big on donuts but my daughter is. The donut holes had a different taste to them, they weren't bad but weren't good enough to want to keep eating them, the tuxedo bar was waaaaay too sweet for me and the blended vanilla latte wasn't sweet enough, kinda bitter like old coffee was used? Maybe it was an off day. I'll give them another try since the smoothies looked good. read more

Arrived at Honey Donuts mid morning. Very limited selection in their display case. If you are a fan of artisanal gourmet doughnuts, then you will be disappointed cause there is none here. That being said, they had most of the standard donut options. I was looking for a pink sprinkled donut for my niece, and a round custard filled chocolate donut for myself. Unfortunately, they had neither. Fortunately, the kind young lady offered to fill up a chocolate bar with custard for me. Friendly and helpful service with a smile is worth 5 stars for customer service. $1.65 for my custard filled chocolate bar was steep. I was surprised at the high price. It did taste good, though. If I lived in Elk Grove, then I would patronize this little shop once in awhile. Since I do not live here, chances are slim that I would return whenever we visit family in the area. read more

We started coming here around 1999ish... maybe early 2000. We were regulars as in every weekend. We loved our Honey's donuts! We since moved from the area and only stop in as a treat or when we want to treat our co-workers or kids class with a donut treat. I have to say they offer one of the best donuts around. They are light, not dense. The frosting is sweet but not too sweet. The one reason I didnt review this with 5 stars is because I think the recipe has changed some with maybe a new ownership. The employees there are not the same as before and they tend to run of out donuts fairly early. The last 2 times i've stopped in around 10am, the selection was very limited and seemed like we were getting the last of what we liked. They offer muffins, coffee, milk and other drinks in a cooler case. If you arent there by 11 I would say, come another day when you can get there earlier! read more

I'm so not really a donut person, but would have that donut craving once in awhile and used to run to Krispy Kreme, which have gotten really sweet and smaller in size.. but that would usually only be like once every 3 months or so.. HOWEVER... I think I'm like addicted to Honey's Donut! It's not too sweet and just the perfect size! It's just really good to me and I'm eating donuts like 4-5 times a week now!! This was me and my wife's favorite shop but this place is just getting worse and worse. About a year or two ago it was awesome and a very welcoming place to go to, then I think they had a change in owner ship which you could immediately tell by the lack of effort and the increase in pricing. I went in today and my usual order was double than what it usually is and the breakfast sandwiches sausage part was still cold and felt mushy on both of them. I ended up just throwing them away and did not feel that women working at the time would be able to help me since she made them. Donuts tasted okay, but I'm pretty sure I was ripped off, having paid $20 for a dozen donuts, all with holes--not bars, filled, fritters, rolls, or bear claws. The menu says $9.99 for a regular dozen, which is a very limited selection, and a surcharge of up to 75¢ for fancy donuts, but the girl ringing me up added $1.50 for just about every donut that wasn't a regular glazed donut. Not only are the donuts sweet, the staff is extremely warm and kind-hearted. They accommodated quite a large order for my organization, which I have placed in advance. Without question, they were willing to work with my request, and ensure that the entire process will go successfully. Their donuts are also fantastic, well made, and everything you'd want in a donut (and I did not go first thing in the morning, I actually was there near the closing of their shift). I don't exactly want to give 3 stars to a hardworking mom-and-pop donut spot for all of its attributes, but the criteria 4 definitely wasn't there. 3.5 is more fitting, so ultimately have to go with 4. This place lacked variety. Where was my French crueller? How about my blueberry donut? Or I would have liked to see a ham and cheese croissant. What this place does have going for itself is standard donuts, that are fresh! The entire store seemed nice and clean to me too. I am writing this review not because of money at all. I felt being cheated. The store lady is sneaky. The board show a donut price at 90 cents a donut. She asked me to give her $1 then put the one dollar bill to the register without ringing the register at all. I asked should there be changes. She said no because of taxes. She said you did the math and calculated 90 cent donut with taxes then she will give me changes. She also said she did not have a chance to increase the glazed donut price and it is not 90 cent for a glazed donut. I felt that she lied to cover her inappropriate responses. I calculated price 90cents plus 7.75% tax. Asked a change and a receipt. She gave me a change and said she could not give me a receipt. This store must have a new owner... With being new to Elk Grove I was in need of finding a donut place and decided to try Honeys. I came in around 11-12, there was still a good selection of donuts. I got a dozen assorted and a dozen donut holes. They were so good! Super soft, super moist, the maple was a bit too sweet for me but still good. Honestly the best donuts I've had (I've had a lot of donuts). My dad had stopped by and gotten 3 dozen assorted for work, they are super sweet and attentive. They are always consistently good. I was a customer since 10 years ago. Donuts are now smaller in size. Be careful when you buy a dozen of donuts because if you buy a special donut in this place charges more. I wished they had a price sign for every special donut. I paid with a man and he charged me an extra dollar for chocolate sprinkle donuts. He said they cost more because of the sprinkles. At my girlfriend's company function, one of her coworkers recommended coming here and surprisingly, it was only 5 minutes away from my place. The place is small, but it's just perfect for a donut shop. All that donut ambience in a tiny place brings joy to my sense. They had a great selection of donuts and for a great price, too!
