This has recently become regular place for us. I am not a HUGH fan of buffets, but they have become a standard for us recently for some reason. I think because it is something the group can all agree on. What keeps me coming back to Hong Kong is the Mongolian BBQ. I love creating my own bowl from the fresh ingredients. Then being able to tell the cook what sauces to add and also that I like a bit over done. Then I can finish it off with my choice of white rice, fried rice or noodles. Loved it!!! For only about ten bucks per person, we enjoyed a wide array of fresh buffet. From sushi (real fish...unlike some fake sushi imitations at other buffet) to traditional Chinese fare like beef broccoli and egrolls to many seafood dishes like octopus, muscle, & fish were all SO delicious!! All sorts of noodles and rice dishes were there with a tiny selection of obligatory pizza & enchilada station but I didn't even touch those...because you know, I gotta save room for the good stuff!! They also have Mongolian grill station but I didn't even make it. The soup selections included hot & sour soup, egg drop soup, and a few others I can't remember... who cares, I got my big bowl of hot & sour My favorite were muscles, baby octopus, hot & sour soup, sushi (rolls), garlic shrimp, and macaroons Dessert table contained quality macaroon, moist rolled sponge cake, fresh fruits, canned fruits, fruit salad, mini muffins, and there's ice cream bar!! This was my first time being here. I'm typically not a buffet person, for a couple of reasons, mostly, because I eat to much. I saw this had 2 1/2 stars, I don't get that at all. It has a decent ambience, it clean for the people activity getting up and down for their food The food was excellent, fresh and tasty. There were lots and lots of choices down to dessert. I don't like that people let their children go up to the buffet tables without supervision. I would say, that this food is as good as any sit down, menu driven Asian restaurant in the area. read more

Only giving this place a one star because the waiters were polite to us. The food tasted very stale. Rice was hard and Lo Mein seemed over cooked the pasta was mushy. I tried many things in the buffet and could not find anything tasty to settle with and eat. Shrimp tasted off. We sat there for a while until deciding to leave. We requested the people at the register for a refund they seemed very confrontational with us. Since my boyfriend and I paid half and half they said they could give him a refund but not me. We ended up saying we don't care we can just leave and they can keep our money. They told us not everyone enjoys Chinese food. That was not the issue. We dine at plenty of Chinese food places and never had any issues with any other Chinese buffet. The carpets were very dirty and some tongs were thrown completely in the food handle and all. The people at the register a man and the woman were rude to us until we told them they could just keep our money and when I told them their customer service was poor. Ok to start with let's remember this is a AYCE buffet. It's not gourmet food or upscale Chinese food dining by any stretch of the imagination. So keep this mind when reading reviews of a place in this genre. When we walked in it bore a striking resemblance to a place we used to eat with some regularity when living in Austin, Texas. It was clean and packed. There was a good selection of food and desserts on the main lines with sushi and Mongolian BBQ on the side. The good news was having a packed restaurant the food turned over quickly. There were a few dishes that were moist and well prepared, but the remaining - especially fried were over done and dry. My review is from February 2016, however, somehow it got moved to a restaurant in Southern California. I'd like to preface my review by stating that I never have enjoyed eating at a Chinese Food steam table restaurant. However, my folks rave about this place, so, I decided to check it out... Get there and see a line out the door. That's ALWAYS a good sign. Then see that lunch is $7.99 per person, good sign #2. Service is prompt upon being seated; good sign #3. Go up to 5 rows or so by 20 feet long (each row) of FRESH food, always being refilled because so many people frequent this place; good sign #4. So, for starters, the wonton soup is STUPIDLY great! The broth alone delivers incredible taste without being overly salty. I found it to be very pleasing and smooth, much like pho. Then throw in gigantic wonton's with a nice amount of meat inside, and mmmmmmmmmmmmm, soooooooooo good to warm the insides on a 40 degree day! From there, potstickers. What's not to like about dumplings? Very simple and delicious. Their "sauce" to go with them is tasty as well. While I didn't get to try all of the entrees as I simply didn't have enough room to pack it in, the pepper beef was amazing! The beef had great taste and the onions were cooked just right. I pushed the peppers to the side as I'm not a fan. I saved room for a small dish from their Mongolian-style BBQ. Select your raw meats, veggies and spices, and throw them into a bowl, only to have it grilled at 700+ degrees on their flat top. Sofakinggood! Paul is the owner and such a delightful man! The servers are always prompt on refilling drinks. Oh, did I mention the self-serve Creamland Dairy Ice Cream? This place was gross. The table I was seated at had spilled soy sauce all over it like nobody bothered to wipe it off. I was also seated right next to the main aisle to the buffet so people kept bumping into me. For a Chinese restaurant, I was surprised they only had one noodle dish. It was some weird tasting lo mein. It was like some sort of tomato paste was smeared on the noodles and then steamed or something. The octopus calamari was so tough it was like chewing on an eraser. They were whole baby octopus too, they didn't even cut them up. The beef (?) on the skewers was dried out and chewy. There was some sort of combination muscle, pepper, and fish head dish but the muscle shells were all smashed so I hope nobody cut their mouth on a shard of shell. Virtually every meat dish had jalapeño peppers in it. Sometimes they were spicy and sometimes they were just mushy and flavorless. The "cheese muscles" were baked muscles with some sort of greasy and spicy mayo slathered on top. No cheese what so ever. There was Mongolian bbq way in the back but I didn't feel like waiting for a bowl. The rice for the sushi was so soft that when you picked it up with the tongs it basically smooshed into a little lump. The "chef" was visibly irritated when this happened. One of the rolls had a paste inside which is hard to describe but it was really nasty. I think the only thing I had that wasn't a total disappointment was the potstickers. They replaced empty trays pretty quickly but one guy practically shoved me out of the way to do so. Couldn't wait three seconds for me to finish picking up my food. My family enjoys Hong Kong Buffet. That being said we only visit about 4x a year. I personally do not care for buffets at all but this one where I actually like some of the food. My teens love all the different meats and the grill. It is a hit or miss with my youngest. It is not really worth paying just for a small slice of pizza or fruit for her so we try to go when she is at a friend's or with her Nana. Service is not that friendly or welcoming but every time we have gone it has always been clean. My family and l were looking for a good Chinese Buffet as we were passing through town on our way to CA. This place seemed to have decent reviews. After walking into this place observing the dated decor, dirty worn stained carpet and worn furniture we should have left right away. Never go into restaurant starving. Lesson learned! $13.95 per person. Food was tasteless. No seasoning whatsoever. Even the food that is prepared for you by the chef. The buffet food seems like it's a bunch of frozen food that is either heated and or fried and put in warmers. Disgusting! The best thing this place has going for it is the hand dipped ice cream. So if you want to pay $13.95 for ice cream go for it otherwise avoid this place at all COST!!! read more

This is a good buffet. Like any buffet sometimes certain food gets old or stale but all you have to do is tell them. Good variety. They guy in the back was working very hard so don't forget to tip him a few bucks too. Place does tend to get dirty pretty quick but it's because they are so busy. read more

I love Hong Kong Buffett. I am on a balanced meal diet and they have peel and eat shrimp and the guy in the back who cooks the vegetables and shrimp that I pick helps me in my diet because most places do not carry vegetables and since sweet tomatoes is closed because of the pandemic I go to Hong Kong. they have sushi also and mussels. For $11 for lunch it is a great deal and $14 at night because of added seafood. Most places are the same if more just got hamburger and fries. read more

The trash was full in the stall, the toilet bowl was yellow, the water was super high, and there were graffiti scratches. Also only one urinal worked and only one sink worked. We had a few hours to kill and needed a jolt of Chinese food to stay the hunger of a long cross country trip, since they no longer serve meals on economy flights. Hong Kong Buffet was close so we stopped in after checking out Yelp. The place is impressive, from the high ceilings, the dark mahogany trim to tne tray ceiling with marching horses, MARCHING HORSES! A multiple line buffet with fresh offerings. A sushi bar and grill. Everything needed for a Chinese buffet extravaganza. HK doesn't disappoint. Our smiling server was quick to refill our water glasses, all that and real ice cream too. (Not soft serve.) Most of these modern buffets are "feeding troughs", but HK Buffet rises above the average Chinese Smörgåsbord, way above. read more

This is one of my favorite buffets. There is a huge variety of food, including American food, which is nice because we can go there with my grandfather, who doesn't care for Asian food. The buffet is also nice and hot so you don't have to worry about the food being lukewarm or cold. read more

It's not bad for ABQ... very Californian style. I didn't yelp but a couple recommended this place beforehand. So I just met up with them, and then 2 takeouts later... For ABQ, this is an excellent place. For Californian, this is just a standard food fair. I have heard so many bad remarks about Chinese foods in ABQ and I did confirm a few of them. This is an exception. It's big and clean and I felt comfortable in the setting, choosing foods from 3 long tables of hot foods and desserts, plus a sushi section (don't expect too much fresh fishes), and a Mongolian grill (don't expect too much sauces either). It served typical mainly American Chinese foods. A few Chinese dishes were a joke. So expect nothing too special. The wait service was good. The price was reasonably... you can takeout for the same price but only in one box (plus a small bowl for soup or whatever). They allow sushi as part of it too. Not sure if I can take out Mongolian grill. So diners, it's a good surprise in ABQ. read more

This a totally different place now than it was prior to the pandemic. You can no longer serve yourself and have to wait "forever" for a waiter to go up to the "buffet" tables to get your "order". It makes no sense. The very thing that made this place attractive is that you could get a little bit of everything and go up as often as you wanted. The food is now cold and when we asked for a container to take a few of the noodles home we were told we'd have to pay extra. That policy made sense before when it was buffet style. Now it's just like any other restaurant (except the food is cold) and they should not require you to pay extra. Anyway, this once great place to eat is now a total disappointment. read more

Typical Chinese buffet. There are 5 rows of food to choose from and there is a place towards the back where you can get sushi and if you want your own meat cut of something. Sushi was a bit dry and not much of a selection to choose from, but it is a buffet so it was obviously sitting out for awhile. Anyway, there are many food to choose from and all are decent. There was however a fly that landed on my daughter's bread roll... so you might want to take that into consideration if/when you decide to eat there. Other than that, the price was decent. This place has never been the top of my list but after seeing the state (and the smell) of the bathrooms, I'm done. The bathrooms, at least the women's since that is what I can speak for, is disgusting. It's dirty with filthy trash cans with no lids that haven't been emptied all day with bloody feminine stuff in it. At least clean your trash cans and put lids on them. The floor was also wet. Still gross as ever! I'm leaving a 1 star for this restaurant due to the fact that it's still as unsanitary as it was the first time. If you look up at the statues up on the roof they are just caked with dust and the areas around the buffet look dirty and not maintained they also seem to be having a hard time properly keep food made for the buffet when we went all the food was practically gone and it took forever just to bring certain food out. Run the other way as fast as you can. We went there a week ago because we were hungry and it has being aleast a year since i was there. There is no brown rice. If you love greasy food this is the prefect place for you. They dont devain the shrimp. First things first: The food is overcoozed, greasy, and it is of poor quality. That is, unless you get the Mongolian Barbecue. The beef had been sitting their for so long it was no longer raw. Definitely a health code violation. Next, the service: When I asked for a drink refill, the waiter was prompt. The King Kong buffet is a usual monthly place for me and, The grilled food, is so good. Especially the salmon, Cho Mein and the meat.

The place was ok. They have a big selection of food which was nice. Our waiter was on top of drink refills but never picked up our used plates. One of the biggest reasons I gave two stars is because of their ice cream station. It's self serve of course but it still needs to be kept up and clean. Kids were reaching in there bare hands with no adult supervision. Keep in mind that the line for ice cream was long because of that. This is a hard one to rate. The reason why is because there's so much food and it's actually a really good deal, so it makes one happy for the place... But I just can't consider it five stars. I definitely want to take my whole family. Now I'm going to talk about the negative to me which is only one thing, which is called cost efficiency, and I do understand. Now, a lot of their food taste extremely cheap because you can tell it's all fillers. And it's not just a one time thing. This is my third time here, and the quality is always the same. The crab Rangoon cream cheese taste 90% like corn starch or some filler. Everything has kind of a fake taste to it. So my final conclusion of this is that it's not the place to take a food connoisseur. However it is the place to take the normal family that are not food critics! You can't find a better deal for a better price for everybody. Just think in a normal restaurant, you get an appetizer, salad, an entrée, a dessert, and a drink, it's going to cost you like 30, 40 or more dollars. Here it's $14 flat. I don't often come to this restaurant because I'm not good at buffets. I don't usually eat a lot at one sitting. With that I have to say the good is excellent and they offer creamland ice cream. I had the egg drop soup with wontons, BBQ ribs and fried rice. The soup is hot which is something I love because let's face it who likes cold soup. The wontons are the perfect crunchyness and flavor add to the soup. Ribs are yummtastic and if I could I'd eat them all. I enjoy the statues they have from the ones in the front entrance to the horses watching over you. The only negative from our visit was a screaming child we were sat next to. It made our dinner a bit unpleasant. I do recommend eating here though. Hopefully without the screaming mini humans in the background. read more

Host was rude when asking to sit in different area other than banquet room. No big deal. My son got his plate and took a few bites of his "chicken nugget" dipped in ranch, only to find out it was fish. I looked where he got them from and it said chicken nuggets. He is allergic to fish and we had to get up and leave as he was feeling ill. No apologies or refund. All they care about is the $$$ read more
