At first I thought this buffet was going to be really good from a tv ads but im giving them the benefit of the doubt and say they haven't updated the ads, if not then false advertising. I liked the mussels most of all most food taste good but then when I tried the sushi I found out the rice was spoiled... I should have put this up earlier. My son and I go here at least once a month, and many times with my brother and his family because we enjoy the variety. Matt and I always get the stir-fry and then maybe other things. Stir-fry is the best! Fresh veggies and protein and pineapple! The chef knows his craft and recognizes we are regulars, he is awesome! This place is absolutely horrible. Always wondered about it because it looks nice on the outside but not everything that glitters is gold. The service here is bad to, can't decide if the food or service here is worse. Came in an hour before close and caught an attitude with the staff like they didn't want us here. They have a pretty big selection and something for everyone to eat as they have sushi, pizza, mexican food, and of course Chineese. After just relocating from California, I have to say that this is the best Chinese food since I have been here. Typically I have never had above average Chinese food at a buffet but I was definitely caught off guard here. After driving past the place a hundred times and always seeing the parking lot packed, I had made it a point to go eventually. The interior decor is nice and spacious and the buffet is one of the biggest that I have seen (with one of the most extensive varieties of chicken dishes that I have seen, and it was almost all fantastic). Never I repeat NEVER eat at this place. Me and my boyfriend went to eat here around 7pm by about 10pm I wasn't feeling good. We got to our house I was freezing even with 3 comforters packed on me. I had a headache and my body ached so much I didn't want to be touched. I threw up all night. The next day feeling even worse then the night before I went to the doctor. Turns out I got severe food poisoning from this place. The doctor even wanted to put me on an I.V. for severe dehydration. The only reason this place gets a high rating as a 1 is I couldn't give them a negative score. WHY has this place not been shut down by the health department. The fresh vegis were fresh but included stems and pieces that you normally would not eat. I did try some items off the buffet and they were luke warm not hot. The overall flavor was mediocre. Anyone who who is aware of "buffet strategy" will already be aware of what you need to do. When you see the big rows of what is supposed to be variety but is really just mostly chicken and some "beef-ish" kind of dishes with pretty much the same sauce, keep on walking. In the back there is a cook-to-order where you can get meat, shrimp, and veggies grilled to order. This is definitely the way to go. Another turn off for me was the many little ones dining while we where there. I have nothing against kids but they should not be allowed to serve themselves, its just gross. My husband witnessed one kid at perfect buffet level hacking and coughing (no, not covering her mouth) as she checked out and contaminated the whole row of desserts. Luckily there is ice cream in a closed case in the back or dessert would have been out of the question. The service is good. I told one of the staff members that the restroom was out of paper towels, and he just stared at me with a blank face as if i was stupid. He smiled and laughed at me. Ahhhh, the Hong Kong Buffet...how we love it. Sadly, we are going to have to give it up because we finally had to admit that it's not normal to leave a restaurant and race home to get to the bathroom. Maybe it's us...maybe we're old...but we go there every week and it never fails that we quickly "pay" for it. I went there with my family to celebrate my fathers birthday when one of the staff accused me of not paying for my sons meal when his meal had already been paid for by my parents when I showed them I was not a thief they did not apologize for there hateful accusation. The Mongolian grill is definitely the best aspect of this restaurant. The buffet is mediocre but the food is decent. The selection is the turn off. A simple offering of traditional chicken dishes with little added effort. Most dishes are smothered in sauces which all blend into the same S&S flavor. Although the price was extremely reasonable for a buffet, and the selection was large (albeit Americanized), the atmosphere can only be described as Zoo-like. Very busy, very noisy, kids darting all over the place, and can I say noisy-again? Hong Kong Buffet must seat about 200 people, which probably also explains the messy ladies room, and the overflowing food/dirty dish carts left out in the open for quick table clean-up. This place is scary! We don't go there anymore. This place used to be great. Now it is just a slop house. It is dirty and run down. I am amazed we haven't been sick! The only good thing is the grill area because you know your food is prepared to your taste. That must be why it is always busy there. Everything else is mediocre at best. We have been here a few times and I understand it's a buffet. However when I got some steak from the Mongolian BBQ and it was gamey and did not taste anything like beef. I am world traveled and have had food from some of the places you would see on national geographic so when I say this brought me back to one these places I mean. Totally ruined my appetite. I'm use to go to Chinese buffet back in California and I can say that this place is pretty good. There are a lot of selections to choose from. The price is not too pricey either and you will go home feeling happy and full. I think the only bad thing is that you can't take your ice cream home in a cone.
