Not worth the Price! So my daughter wanted to eat there for her birthday. There are 4 in her family 2 adults & 2 kids 7 & 9 and she took my other granddaughter who is 15. Her bill was $322.83. That's with 1/2 off for 2 kids. Her brother and I went to join them and our bill was $161.42. Grand total $484.25!!! Crab was cold and bendable was very hard to crack. Mexican food was dry. Prime Rib overcooked and Clam Chowder was terrible. Looked forward to a piece of pie but they didn't have vanilla ice cream. No one was making donuts. Even though 3 were children that only eat pizza and jello we were charged 18% gratuity to sit together. Plates stacked& I never got a drink refill! Such a waste of money ! read more

Ok, fam. Truth here, I will do my best to give a good review, or if it's not good.. I won't lie!! First, a positive. Claudia, the server nice, responsive and helpful.. Second, came on steak night. Steak was alright, and well cooked, but not seasoned and for a $34 PP price tag, not worth the tiny price even of meat. And bathroom was clean. NOW, the negative.... I'm a Mac and cheese purist nut. But this stuff was sour.. it tasted like it was made a couple of days ago. And truthfully I'm making this review now in case my tummy doesn't hold. The creamed spinach and hash brown casserole, is the world allergic to flavor and salt? And dessert.. ever had coconut suntan lotion you could taste? Then you breathed in sand? Did you like it? Then the coconut crème pie is your jam!!! Listen, for the price, the small offerings and frankly better food at Laguna burger down the road, save your money!! The food is pretty good, with a good variety- but the service was terrible. The buffet is so expensive now. Unless the price comes down will probably never go again. We had 6 people in our party, so we were all charged an additional 18% "service fee/Tip charge." We went on Saturday, steak night. The total price for myself & my spouse with tax & tip charge was $74.49. (Advertised at 29.99 each, the Thursday & Friday buffet is $59.99!!!) The buffet is now only open on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from 4PM-10PM, and Sunday from 10AM-3PM. Most in our party said the steak was good, but my spouse said his was so tough, he could not eat it. The wait staff rarely came around to clear our used plates, so I got up and stacked them on a counter near us. There wasn't room on the table. We used to come to this buffet pretty often prior to Covid, especially when they had the "50 plus club" pricing-No more. The buffet is no longer a treat to draw in the gambler.... they are priced way out of what the average New Mexican can afford. read more

Got here about 4:30 p.m. it was still not too busy for dinner, this is a good time to come. The food was all pretty fresh. We had a voucher for 2 for 1. This deal ends (for Mondays) on September 9th. One of my favorite buffets. I really come for the all-you-can-eat crab legs, so I mostly fill up on that. I think the crab legs are cooked pretty well here and it's all very tasty. There's a good selection of a variety of different foods including seafood, meats, salads, pizza, Mongolian grill and more. The desserts are hit or miss though. Most taste very processed, but some of the pastries are delicious. Anyway, if you come early enough, say before 5:30, you'll beat the line and get in really quick. My family and I went to this buffet on a Friday. It was seafood night and man..there was plenty to eat! If you have never been, this buffet is quite spacious with various stations around the perimeter of the restaurant. They had a American station, Latin station, Asian station( which included two open grill style areas for make your own stir fry and make your own noodle soups), a full sized salad bar, a made to order bar( on this night they had a choice of shrimp, mussels or clam sauté- but I was told they also offered made to order pastas during other days of the week), and a bakery section with various desserts and request various ice cream flavors by the scoop). Definitely, a nice variety of options to meet most everyone's taste buds. Personally, I am a big fan of shrimp. I tried various options from the Latin station, which featured peel and eat spicy shrimp- the shells simply fell off and the Shrimp was very succulent. Also, the elote or Mexican Street Corn was very tasty and moist. The corn had plenty of cotija cheese! I couldn't get enough! I also tried the shrimp and clam sauté, it was quite nice. The shrimp were succulent and had a nice flavor with tails intact. The clams were good too and were easy to slip out of their open shells. Overall a tasty dish! I also had a made to order grilled stir fry items with various vegetables, sauce and choice of protein and starch( I had shrimp and egg noodles- but some options were beef, shrimp, chicken, rice, udon noodles). If you are in the mood for a lot of food with various options to suite most everyone's tastes, I'd recommend you definitely try this buffet! read more

This buffet has improved a lot since the remodel. The food is somewhat a hit and miss. You have to find something you really like there. For instance, I really love the Mongolian grill since you can pick your own mixes and customize the food to your liking. The Thai Curry is also pretty tasty as well! The beef taquitos are yummy and the fruits are always pretty fresh! The meat is a hit and miss. I have eaten some delicious ribs and some not so good ones... I am a little sad they only serve Pepsi and the stopped serving the Root Beer, but the flavor machine allows you to customize your soda! The dessert is typically pretty good! I love the sugar donuts, but the cherry pie is good too! They also have scooped ice cream which is always a hit in my book! I really like this buffet! I've been here on a 2-for-1 night before (recently decreased from 2 nights a week to just 1) and just got home from the Saturday lunch buffet. $14/adult, 11:00-3:00. We got there just before noon and there was virtually no line. The place was not packed although there was a bit of a wait for tables after paying - I think it would have been helpful to have one or two more servers. Food was great because there is SUCH a wide selection. We had a variety of diet preferences and needs, and not a one of us left unsatisfied! Asian, Mexican, American, salad bar, and desserts. The breakfast is good and the tacos are good; I haven't tried the Asian grill yet though (suspect it's good too - it's VERY popular!). Their buffet really went downhill. Before the remodel, it was fine. After the remodel, I feel like the tables are arranged in awkward places from where the food is being kept. Behind some kitchens, the floor was flooded. I feel like they don't keep up with empty trays very well. Our waiter was little rude. Four of us didn't stay at the table, we went to get our food right away. When he came back with drinks, the four of us asked for drinks and he rolled his eyes. Hands down the best buffet for the money 2 for 1 on a Monday or Tuesday with players card that I ever ate at in my life. Driving to the east coast I heard this buffet was on point so I made an easy turn off the Interstate 40 and parked at the Route 66 Casino. Monday or Tuesday you get an adult bogo free. Amazing deal. As for the food it was amazing. Real Authentic Mexican food, nice roast beef, dunno if it was a rib roast or not. But it was good. Fried Chicken was great, best I ever ate at a buffet. They had Asian soups, I got the Vietnamese Pho. Great flavor. They have a saute pasta station that will make you a pasta dish right in front of you. They have Pizza etc etc. The list goes on and on, fresh bread, salad. Really this place was amazing. And had a huge selection that was very similar to the RIO Buffet in Vegas back in the early 2000s. Also the deserts were great. They even had ChocoFlan, something I have never seen at any buffet in my life. I was blown away. From Mongolian, Asian, classic American, Italian, southwest and a bakery there is PLENTY to choose from and try. The buffet is an all you can eat experience. Each food station is staffed with a knowledgeable chef that can guide and prepare dishes to order. The hardest part is choosing what to have, it all looks SO good. I tried some Italian, Asian Ramen, Mongolian grill and had to go overboard with a couple of pastries from the bakery. The food was all well prepared and hot. The server wasn't as engaging as I would hope, but foods is a buffet. He did not let my tea glass get empty, he always made sure I had utensils and napkins available for each round. Visit #3 - not as good as Visit #1- but not as bad as Visit #2. On this visit I tried the Mongolian Grill for the 1st time. Even though I was the one who actually chose the ingredients and sauces, the proteins (I asked for chicken and beef) were well-portioned. The chefs doing the prep/cooking were very professional and courteous. When it arrived at our table I was very impressed by the flavor and the generous portions of beef and chicken. I also tried the pizza-green chili and olive? It was average. The caprese salad this time did have basil- unlike the second visit. In addition I tried the jalapeño sausage (from the BBQ section.) I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes sausage/links. So where does this leave us? Well, after 3 different visits, on 3 different days at 3 different times, Route 66 Fresh Market Buffet was prone to inconsistencies and is a "hit or miss" proposition. What will YOUR experience be? Meh is all I can really say. I had last been here about 5 years ago and left unimpressed. After seeing all the commercials for the new improved/fresh approach I thought I would give it another shot. Lots of food items looked like they had been sitting out for a long while. Cheese pizza had the "orange" look with hard crust that was inedible for my child, ribs had a skim around from sitting, cake and pie slices were hard/stale, and sushi was par to the gas station. The mini donuts and biscochitos were tasty. They also had a full bar in case you want a mixed drink with your meal. Outside of that, I really can't say anything that stood out in a positive way. If I ever go back, I may try the Mongolian type grill. read more

Disappointed, after reading about remodel buffet, made the trip to enjoy a great meal. The staff was not friendly or helpful, waiter was hard to find, we had to ask several people just to get silverware, most of the food looked like it had been out for long time, and this was about 6 o'clock. This was the most disappointing buffet experience I've ever had. Upon arriving my expectations were high. The design was clearly new and the atmosphere was lively. The line was very short and we were seated almost immediately. However, the experience fell through as soon as we started exploring food options. ALL of the food we had picked was extremely dissatisfying. Worse than your average buffet food. I can't believe we payed $70 for lukewarm, bland food we barely picked over. It was clear a lot of the food had been sitting out for a long time. The filet minion was dry and well done like it had been sitting out on the steam table for too long. The broccoli was dry, discolored, and wilted. The sushi was dry and rubbery. The avocado inside was browning. The ramen was watered down and barely warm.
