One suggestion when coming to HKB, do not come starving! It's OK to be hungry, but not starving! I come here once in a while when I have a crazy craving and I walk around the buffet tables. I scope the food before deciding if I'll be dining here or not. Typically, I'll stay especially since I've already had some misses so I go for the hits whenever possible. The hits: the clams, mussels, the peel yourself shrimp, whatever the fish of the day is, hot and sour soup and glass noodles. I'm typically satisfied with those items when available or I make do with whatever looks OK. I try to take tiny samples of different foods and usually, a small bite will help me decide if it's worth the calories and if it is, I head back up with a fresh plate and refill with the items that are tasty. The misses: most of everything else. It's a China Buffet for crying out loud. My expectations are not very high but I do think it's one of the better buffets in the greater Chicagoland area. It's not cheap for a buffet but if you can find a Chinese restaurant close by that you can get a dish and a drink for under $15 and immediate service, definitely go. Otherwise, just try it out. Stopped for lunch buffet. Food was pretty good but most of it was luke warm at best. A nice variety of food choices. There was a man with a chef's apron on that walked around and stirred food on the buffet and sat at a table and talked with someone on speaker phone for at least 30 minutes. With New China Buffet closing they made it sound like they were taking over Hong Kong Buffett. We saw their post and the new "New Hong Kong Buffet" banner and tried it out. Expensive mistake. One adult and one 11 year old. $32 for lunch? The place was dirty. Most food was never restocked. Cold, congealed pizza, empty sushi plates with flies, rarely freshening up anything. When we got there the egg roll pan had three, nasty shriveled egg rolls in so we assumed they would eventually be dumped and fresh items out. Nope. We waited 40 minutes and instead of restocking they literally dumped the egg rolls in a pan with the old fried fish!!!! No one ever picked up our plates or offered any assistance. We didn't see any of the staff from Addison. The Crab Rangoon was the best thing. No fried shrimp, no pan fried dumplings, no tasty entrees. The chicken on a stick were not the same and totally bland. We had to cancel our next plans because after we finished we both felt sick. So. Avoid! Little cleaning protocol from what I could see, and I could hear the cooks hack coughing in back then coming out wiping the buffet with a dirty cloth and non gloved hands. Some of this food is pretty damn good. - hot and sour soup: some of the best I've had - jalapeño chicken: super flavorful - glass noodles (don't remember the name): yum! - fried meatballs: my husband loved them - egg rolls and rangoons I'd probably upgrade this place to three stars if I ate a lot of seafood. There were people getting down on calamari, crawfish, mussels, fish galore. Stay away from the Mexican food or other ethnic varieties (duh)! As a Chinese, I had more than 5 similar Chinese buffet restaurant around Chicago. And I believe this is the best I've had. I really believe it didn't deserve the rate right now. The buffet I had before even has 3 stars average, but this is just 2.5. Yelp reviewers must be kidding me. I went for it for lunch with my girlfriend at Saturday noon when we planned to shop at Lincolnwood town center. The price is 22 for two, the weekday lunch is 7.5 for one, since it's weekend and I believe there were more food provided. There are so many kinds of seafood you could choose, including lobster, clam and crab. Maybe I just luck. Others are not bad. There are some very innovative and delicious dishes I had never tried before. Yes, it's not perfect. But consider the price and the food you enjoy. Nobody should complain much about it. read more

Well I decided to check out this buffet spot. I've been driving by it for years. I was skeptical can't lie the reviews weren't good. But I was quite surprised the food didn't taste too bad. Plus it was fresh since there was quite a few people. It's a nice little selection. Cleanliness was good. The servers took my plates and everyone else's and wiped down tables. They also had on masks and gloves. Now one thing I did notice was the booth I sat on was wobbly. I thought I was going to go backwards when I sat down. One of the urinals didn't work. The staff seemed concerned by asking me how much money was in the card, but why would it matter to them how much money is in it.. you know? The card was sealed and had "The Eusebio Family" on it. Do not come here. Even if you are just in the neighborhood and you're not sure what to eat and you look this place up and see the bad reviews and you think to yourself "meh it's just a Chinese buffet how bad can it be". That's the mistake I made and I paid for it. Everything in the establishment is dirty. Somehow everything is wet. Half of the food isn't labeled. You pay for your meal upon entry probably because most people wouldn't pay after they ate. They display signs warning that you will be charged extra if you don't eat the food you put on your plate. I used to come here all the time for their food but not after what I witnessed today. 2 gentleman came in and had already picked out their food when one of them pointed to the other something on his plate. The guy immediately went to the owner who was charging the entrance for the buffet and when he told him the owner actually got really mad and loud and defensive. The guys was just asking for a refund since he ate non of the food. I started to get worried because my daughter and I had just finished all of our food so I got up and left right when the guys walked out the door. I of course being curious asked what he had seen on the plate and he told me disappointedly (because he used to go there all the time) that he had seen a live roach in the fried rice that he had poured onto his plate. I know the owner used to keep it at its best many years ago and could if he wanted too. I've paid more at different buffets and have had worse experiences. Parking is easy . Tried the Chicken with broccoli, had some kind of perfume type sauce on it, had to spit it out. Then tried the Beef with brocooli, and this had a putrid fowl odor and taste to it. I had to spit it out. Though I'd be safe trying plain green beans, but they had some type of fishy greasy taste and had to spit them out. Then thought at least I could eat some of the cantaloupe, but that was harder than a Jawbreaker. I had to go to bathroom. It was a war zone in there, toilet paper everywhere, slippery filthy floor, dirty sinks, overflowing garbage everywhere. I kept my receipt in case I get food poisoning or worse than that. I truly don't feel well and my ears have turned into a deep pinkish red color. I pray to God that I will be ok. I PLAN TO CONTACT THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SOON. To start, the owner rang up my family and I at the register. He was on the phone, yelling at someone in Chinese. What he didn't realize is that my brother, who was with us, speaks Chinese. He was complaining that he didn't want to put out any fresh food because there wasn't enough costumers to justify it. He was complaining that he didn't have enough customers to make any money that day. He sounded very upset. In addition to the rude behavior of the owner, I was not impressed with anything else. 80 percent of the food was not fresh and you could see evidence of this as buildup on the edges of the table pans. A mixture of Chinese buffet, Americanized (chicken nuggets, anyone?) with some Latin influence (see jalapeno chicken, above). There were even pepperoni pizza slices! Because when you think pepperoni pizza, you think Chinese buffet. Entrees, lots of fruits and desserts, fishes and curries, egg rolls, won tons, soups, soda, etc. There was one entire section I didn't even get to, so who the hell knows what's on that. Do NOT expect anything from the women who walk around and clean tables. One of them hates me. I've been there about 3 times, and though it has never been crowded, I've never been alone. Definitely nowhere near the quality of New China Buffet, or the former Chinese buffet in the Wal-Mart shopping center in Niles. (R.I.P.) I give very few one star reviews, but this place may have turned me- the King of Pan-Asian buffets, off of Pan-Asian buffets for the foreseeable future. While I don't know for sure, I think I may have become slightly sick after eating here. Several of the food items certainly could have or should have been kept warmer than they were. The seating area seemed to be kept cleaner than the buffet area; I could have done without their storage refrigerators out in the open among the soda fountains. I went on Friday evening with guests from out of town hoping to enjoy a good mix of Chinese cuisine. This place was so disappointing! The food was cold and crusty, the servings were not replaced once they were gone, and there was absolutely no service! None! No one came to clear a plate, ask how we were doing, or check on us at all. After looking at the food, I immediately wanted to leave, but my guests wanted to stay because they were so hungry and we'd already paid. I was willing to lose my $40 though then to have to eat but I listened and stayed. Big mistake! The furniture is loose and the booth seats fall when you sit on them, the tables are rickety and constantly move when you shift your weight. The food selection was the absolute worst though. All of the food there had to have been sitting there since they'd opened. Cold shrimp dishes, white rice that had congealed together, nothing was steaming hot, and everything had a weird after taste to it. Im so surprised none of us got sick! It was that bad. It's like an oasis in the desert. With rows of slightly greasy but so delicious Chinese fast-food fare. As a vegetarian, my selection was slightly limited, but I still ate like a queen. Is it troubling that a waitress was actively hunting and swatting flies in the corner, or encouraging that the wait-staff is vigilant in the fight against flying pests? FYI...whenever you walk into a restaurant and there is a gift shop at the entrance, turn around and walk out. Only reason why they would have it is to try to make more money because their food is not worth it. Everything is just sticky. Sticky forks, sticky tables, sticky cups, stick floors. The food quality is so generic that the Panda express across the street has better and more fresh food choices. Plates are very small, so you will need to make multiple trips across the sticky floor to get more of the food. Avoid the booths because they're sticky as well. I went on Thanksgiving for dinner so it could be skewed (either way good or bad, maybe they brought out the good stuff for the holiday.. or maybe the good cooks had the holiday off and were at home... who knows?!) They had a ham which was a nice touch. The egg drop soup is good, as were the traditional meat/veggie dish staples. Many of the meat dishes were spicy.
