My coworker and I order delivery from here and the best things were average and went downhill from their. All the ingredients tasted old and were over sausced. Both she and I felt ill following this food. The items we had were: -Chicken and Broccoli (did not taste nor look correct) -Pepper Steak (Did not taste like pepper steak) -Cheese Steak Eggroll (no steak) -Mozzerella Stick (was stiff and not stringy) -Wong Tongs (a little soggy but good) -Fried Chicken (tasted old) -Wite Rice (Good) The Door Dash Delivery person was kind and helpful. This place is a hole in the wall and not kept up very well. Least they had a restroom which is important to me since I am female and work out on the highway and do not have easy access to restrooms. The food was pretty decent for what this place is. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken without peanuts and white rice lunch special. I thought it had a good flavor and just the right amount of heat. Not too spicy but you knew it was there. The rice was a touch dry but everything else I liked. The lady taking orders was okay. She seemed a bit rushed but that's okay. Probably a busy lady! The inside does have places you can eat there but no decor and they use some of the space to store drinks and other items which is kind of strange. This place went downhill in a hurry. I don't think the same people are running it anymore. The lady that usually took orders is no longer around, and I assume the staff in the back may have changed. This was my favorite Chinese spot in the area, but now we don't even bother. On top of everything, during my last visit there were 2 ladies at the register. 1 was wearing a mask, and the other wasn't and was visibly sick. She was coughing, sneezing, and looked like she was in bad shape, but she was taking payments and handing out food. That was the straw that broke the camel's back... For my last 3 visits, this place has become a shell of it's former self. They need to bring back the other staff before they lose more regular customers. I now have to go about finding a new carryout, even the jalapeno pork chops that I loved so much from here no longer hit the way they once did... I wanna goooooo home! read more

It just keeps getting worse. I've ordered at least 5 times. I'm not trying to trash them but the food is awful. Breaded chicken is soggy, sauce is thin, fried rice is flavorless, onions aren't fried all the way through. The chicken in the chicken fried rice has been cooked in an overcrowded pan and has a boiled consistency. The meat inside the wonton soup tasted spoiled. We kept ordering because it wasn't always so bad. It wasn't good but this last time will be our last. Please improve your food. We need good restaurants in Odenton. read more

The hunan chicken is SWEET, not spicy. Everything is greasy, particularly the chicken and broccoli. I specifically asked for hot mustard packs (for several deliveries now) and only got duck sauce, if anything. The chicken is rubbery. The pork fried rice has no fried egg and very very little pork. The rice is made with maybe brown rice steamed, not fried rice like typical. This place used to be pretty good and consistent. Maybe new owner?!? Now it's Gross. We have tried a few times in the last month, but I think we just have to move on. Food is bad, service can't even give hot mustard packs, just an overall bad experience. read more

UPDATE; 1 hour later. FOOD POISONING! Stay away from this restaurant! Im not exaggerating. I had gotten extremely sick, I will never order from here again! We used to order from here but I believe they have changed owners. They don't want to admit that the restaurant is under new ownership, but it's obvious. . These new owners are also trying to cut cost everywhere, even in the quality of the food. We ordered fried chicken wings, egg foo young, the gravy was watered down, combo lo mein, salt & pepper pork chops (horrible). They usually have good egg foo young but it was horrible. That's when I realized these are not the same owners. I threw all the food away because something didn't taste quite right. Ended up with food poisoning. I had a fever, diarrhea and nausea all night. Never again Okay management definitely changed hands. This food is GROSS! I thought so awhile ago, but thought maybe it was an off day. Now Im convinced.DO NOT GO HERE, you will be disappointed. The salt & pepper pork chops were dry, the shrimp in the combo lo mein is super small, the egg foo young gravy was super thin (like water). Not worth taking pictures. read more

The food is bland. I should've listened to the yelp reviews but nope my curiosity got the best of me and my taste buds are not happy. At first glance the rice looks amazing and smell great...then I ate a spoonful and tasted nothing but blandness. I thought 'ok, maybe the cook didn't want to over season, but there's onions and shallots so still some good flavors, no biggie.' Then I tried the dumplings and they were large and very doughy . I think had they made them smaller it would've the work. The ribs were just ok, I wasn't a fan of the sauce the put on them, it was bland as well. Finally we come to the cheesesteak egg rolls and I took 2 bites (you know in case the first one was wrong) and I ended up throwing the rest out. Will I ordered here again? Nah. Honestly this place is great! They serve real authentic Chinese food and it's also very delicious. i tried the Chicken wings, crab rangoon, hot & sour soup, cantonese Chow Foon, drunken beef noodle, chicken with broccoli, and shrimp fried rice. I recommend all of them. The crab rangoons were really addictive. They also have free items if you spend a certain amount & they deliver within a 5 mile radius for $3 extra. Try this place out!!! Decided to try food from here because of all the great reviews. I got the chicken with string beans and the side order of vegetable lo mein. The chicken with string beans was great - a little more green beans than chicken, which I like, perfectly cooked with nice flavor and texture. There's enough sauce for the rice to soak up when you mix it in but not so much that you have a bunch of sauce left over when you're finished. I wasn't particularly fond of the lo mein, though. It was too salty for my taste, and I would have preferred more broccoli and onions and fewer bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. I will definitely order from here again; I just probably won't get the lo mein since it wasn't to my personal taste. read more

The bread on the chicken was soggy, because the "sauce" was basically flavored water. The egg roll was mediocre and greasy. The spring roll wasn't good and also soggy. Hong Kong gourmet is my go to now when I'm in the mood for Chinese. Only restaurant in the area that allows you to choose a small or large size. Easier on the wallet. For awhile, food quality was spot on but with Covid, its been a bit shaky since fall. But I stuck with them because their overall consistency and accuracy won me over. We used to purchase from this location weekly. After Covid, this place fell off drastically. We decided to try again after nearly a 1.5 yr hiatus on 22 Nov, it was surprisingly very good, the rice was fresh, full of veggies and the general tso's shrimp was on point. Last night, we decided to order again, $90 worth and the food tasted spoiled, and had a very strong odor. It wasn't just one item but everything we purchased we trashed. The fried rice was not fresh, looked as if it was warmed over with an abundance of soy sauce, next to no veggies and very few shrimp, disgusting. The general tsos shrimp was soggy sitting in a bath of pure sugar, disgusting! The chicken teriyaki was disgusting, the Lo Mein tasted spoiled and had a very disgusting odor, the egg roles were soggy and definitely not fresh, the vegetables on garlic sauce was sitting in a bath of brown salt, we couldn't even eat them. All in all, we will not be eating at this restaurant no time soon. It's obvious whomever did the cooking yesterday is causing a great disservice to the restaurant. I do not recommend!!!!! As far as local Chinese delivery, I am satisfied. I've ordered twice now and the second order was definitely better food than the first time. I've ordered shrimp egg foo yong twice and both times I've asked for the gravy on the side and it has been delivered like that! The vegetable shrimp lo mein was tasty, didn't taste oily like it's delivered from other places, tasted fresh with lots of veggies. The food was delivered FAST the second order and super HOT! I enjoyed my food and for me the small portions of the entrees was more than enough food for two servings. Will definitely order again. read more

My husband and I use to love this place. They in my opinion have the best crispy beef I have ever had and the fried rice is on point. Today, I was in the mood for the crispy beef and placed an order on grub hub as per usual. Today was also my last day ordering from them. My number is clearly stated on the order but the "manager" proceeded to tell me that my number wasn't correct. On Grubhub you can only set default. Grubhub acknowledged that mistake. I would have been okay had the manager didn't tell me to "F*** off" This place deserves zero stars. If this is who the manager is and how she acts when customers are displeased, do they deserve that title as manager? It sad cause the food is so good. Oh well read more

A decent Chinese delivery joint in Odenton. I think they may have a couple of tables in the place, but I've never been there in person so I can't really say for sure. The food is basically middle-of-the-road, Americanized Chinese food. I think it's the best Chinese *delivery* place in the Odenton area (east side!), but if you aren't getting delivery you're better off heading over to Hunan L'Rose (Americanized) or Grace Garden (Authentic) for take-out or eat-in. Their soups are pretty good overall; we never go without the hot and sour soup and egg drop soup. They also make fairly decent fried dumplings (did I mention I'm a dumpling fetishist?) - a good thick skin and a beef filling. Our usual standby dishes are chicken and garlic sauce, mongolian beef, and chicken chow foon. Prices are OK but not stellar -- but they do deliver, and on a cold night when you've got the sniffles, sometimes you just need a big bowl of soup and some spicy saucy chicken stuff to carry on. read more

Great place for lunch or dinner. Kind of hidden & hard to find, its in the Odenton Medical Center across from Perry's restaurant. Have a cheap lunch buffet for $6.25 between 11-1:30pm or lunch/dinner combinations which come with a main dish, white or fried rice, large eggroll and choice of soup (dinner only). Lunch combinations are priced between $5.50-7.00 which is incredibly cheap considering the amount of food you get. Dinner is a couple bucks more and includes soup. The food is made to order & uses fresh ingredients. Had the kung pao chicken and it was very good overall. Had the sesame lemon chicken once and it wasn't that great, too much lemon seasoning but really nicely cooked chicken. Szechuan beef my gf had was very good also. Overall this place is a hidden gem in Odenton, definitely better than Hunan L'Rose in the next shopping center over. If your looking for a decent place to eat for well under $10 for lunch this is it. Suggestion: get a soda or tea, they give you tap water otherwise & the sodas are only $0.99. Also, they are closed Sundays. read more

This place is a gem in the Odenton Medical Center. I worked above this place for years and love going on my lunch break for the buffet. Very affordable and the owners (Ping and her husband) are so nice, pleasant, and super accommodating. My favorite thing on the menu is the Singapore Rice Noodles. The veggies are always super fresh, and you can omit or add whatever you want to your order. They get really busy sometimes in the evenings and only recently started offering delivery but there are technically only two employees (Ping and her husband). I love the service I get if I sit down to eat, and the food never disappointed me. If you are looking for a great meal, a great price and an easygoing experience, definitely visit this place. I am so sad I moved away, but whenever I am in the area I always frequent Hong Kong Gourmet. read more

Have been taking my daughter to an Orthodontist for three years and I recently noted the Hong Kong Gourmet on the first floor at the same little strip mall in Odenton. Imaging my surprise that they have been in this location for many years ... Decided to stop in this last Thursday evening for Fried Dumplings and Shrimp Lo Mein. The Fried Dumplings were great. The pork stuffing was excellent and I loved the sage flavor. My only complaint is the dumplings were a tad thick and chewy. I would have preferred a lighter wrapping. The Shrimp Lo Mein was ok. They didn't skimp on the shrimp as they were everywhere. Some restaurants only give 4 or 5 shrimp. I counted 17 in my dinner serving. I indicated this dish was ok because the oil used was burnt and that burnt flavor was permeated all through the noodles and sauce. I was only able to eat about 1/2 because of this. The other item is the noodles were clumped together. Cooking starchy items like Lo Mein noodles can be tricky if they are not taken care off when removed from the boiling water. I can deal with sticky noodles but the burnt oil flavoring spoiled this dish. All in all I like this restaurant. The Owners are about to become 1st time Grandparents and they are eagerly awaiting the birth of their Grandchild. A friendly atmosphere and I loved the tile mural of the 'Great Wall of China' hanging on the wall. I will go back. read more

Their hot and sour soup is well above par with a nice hot spicy broth sprinkled on top with spring onions. Came here with a Groupon, but ended up ordering enough for one of their menu coupons instead; a free Jalapeño Salt & Pepper Pork Chops. Those were delicious, lightly fried with a thin seasoned coating and sautéd with green onions and jalapeños. Also tried the Thai Northern Style fried rice. Not very authentic according to my Thai wife, but still delicious and we finished it all. Kids had Orange & General Tso's chicken which was very sweet, yet still managed to taste different than other Chinese takeout in the area. The white rice was dry and did not seem fresh. Shrimp toast appetizers were good, but very greasy. Overall, a rate this as a good Chinese place that has a few better menu items and Thai selections. The service is also good, very pleasant and we didn't want for anything. But it is just basically a Chinese takeout with a bigger seating area. We still have the Groupon, and even without it will probably go back since the location is close to work and the food + service is good.
