LOVE their coffee-very unique as it is "farm to table" and hard to find outside of Hawaii! Family members were in Honolulu prior to COVID-19 and brought me back some of the coffee in which the coffee is harvested from many of the different islands. They bought me KONA from the Big Island where they have visited and participated in the local coffee tours. Anyway, you can purchase this on-line for yourself or gifts for others-it does NOT disappoint and like coffee from all regions all over the world each has its own specific flavor. This particular dark full bodied roast had hints of milk chocolate and caramel! Divine! PS. They also ship internationally-see their web site! A BIG Mahalo!

Desserts and Kyla! She's the best!

The service here is great! Kyla and Alexia were really welcoming and helpful and wore masks the whole time. Ordering was smooth and efficient and I was struck by how clean the store was. They also had hand sanitizer available. There was a great selection of fresh pastries to choose from and I tried a lilikoi roll. It was AMAZING and fluffy and the perfect combo of sweet and a little tangy. Kyla also helped me pick out bags of coffee for gifts and she was SO knowledgeable. Ask her about coffee if you like learning about coffee!

Just waiting for my Hawaiian Kona Frost drink. #latepost

Macaroons! Finally a place close to work that I can pick up delicious macaroons! I'll also order the Mocha frost. Not much of a coffee person as caffeine has no effect on me, however I do love the taste of it. Baristas are usually always friendly. Strawberry, lilikoi and chocolate are my favorites out of there selection. Some tables inside, and not usually loud. Sometimes there is a line though. But still a good place to meet up with friends or former coworkers. I have had coffee here several times and recently it was catching up with a former boss. Overall it's nice gathering place besides Starbucks.

The baristas here are SO friendly that I honestly get shocked sometimes. They're peppy and cool and seem to genuinely enjoy and know the coffee they're serving. I only wish they would have warned me that the coffee here is STRONG! Admittedly, your girl got a headache from confidently downing a cold brew.. It was brutal, but I admit that I am a bit weak to caffeine, so I should've considered this before making the jump. However, I got a regular coffee today and it was not only delicious, but it was also caffeinated enough to keep me alive throughout the day. And I didn't get a headache or jitters! I really must commend their syrups.. I feel as though you can really taste the quality and flavor when you add one to your coffee. I think a lot of other places have syrups that are a bit more muted compared to the ones here. Maybe it's just me? Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing? Or maybe Honolulu Coffee really gives it to ya. Either way, I enjoyed my coffee today and it inspired me to write this. That's a good sign, isn't it? I'll be back, for sure!

Found myself in downtown Honolulu trying to wrap up a few things at work on a Friday afternoon. Needed to find a coffee shop with wi-fi. There is a Starbucks across the street but I decided to go with the local option, Honolulu Coffee Company (HCC). This HCC is located in the lobby of the American Savings Bank Tower on Bishop Street. There are two entrances, one on the outside and one within the building. Not much seating here, just a handful of tables and chairs. There are also a few tables right outside the coffee shop. There is indeed free wi-fi here. I could connect in the courtyard outside so the connection is pretty good. I wanted to get some 100% Kona coffee since I was in Hawaii. I see that they have French press Kona coffee here. Initially I asked for this, but the barista mentioned they had brewed pure drip Kona coffee so I got a medium cup for a little over $2. The Kona coffee was brewed nicely and has a bold flavor to it. In addition to coffee, they have teas and pastries including macarons! Tried two of the macarons, haupia and lilikoi which were $1.75 each. These were okay, but I like the ones in Seattle better. They didn't taste as chewy and delicate as the ones I find here. I did like the tropical flavors within each. The store's customer base is primarily the worker crowd. I like that the HCC staff here greeted many of their regular customers by name in a warm and friendly manner. If I was working in the area, this is a coffee shop that I would go to because they have good coffee and a nice staff. If you are looking for Kona coffee and good service, visit HCC.

As I walked into this store in downtown, Tamarind Park, between ASB and Jack in the Box, there's only one guy at the counter as both the cashier and coffee maker, with best attitude I've experienced. Very friendly and willing to help and explain all the different flavors. Although the coffee is expensive, it's because it's the best tasting coffee we've had, that comes in an assortment of different flavors, but also, they've expanded from years back to also serve baked items as well as macaroons: Coffee - 5 stars for the flavors and freshness. Strawberry Macaroon - 3 stars - very sweet, but I like La Tour Cafe's better. The flavor wasn't as strong and it was a little hard. Service - 5 stars - this guy is the bomb. He even offers a sample if you can't decide what you want, and is very enthusiastic. I've never experienced a person like that in any other coffee establishment.

They just renovated their shop as of January 14, 2019 and it's much more modern and cleaner! Barista, Kandace always greet you with a smile and make sure all your coffee needs/questions are met. Without them, this shop would be nothing. I used to come here a lot in 2016, but stopped bc the customer service sank with the old employees. Gave it another shot this year of 2019 and I'm glad I did. Their prices have risen since then, but the quality and quantity has also improved. Best time to come is early morning when the coffee is just brewing. You can smell their kona brew from miles away! -- I ordered their açaí bowl ($9.50 + tax). HPU & Argosy University students get discounts, just ask at the register!

Acai bowl.
Taryn L.

While it is a coffee shop, I went to Honolulu Coffee Company on the recommendation of a coworker. We were both craving acai bowls and he let me know that this coffee shop makes them. I was a little hesitant at first because it's a coffee shop; not exactly known for healthy foods or acai bowls, but there is no harm in trying it out. For $5.75, the acai bowl is pretty cheap (I've had ones that were a similar size but more expensive - about $9). It comes with granola and fresh banana slices. I loved it! The acai smoothie blend had a nice flavor, not too sweet or tart. The texture was how I liked it - similar to a thick smoothie. The ratio of granola and fresh banana to the acai blend was perfect. Usually, acai bowls have much more acai than granola, but I like having granola with every bite. The granola was crunchy. The bananas were perfectly ripe. It was the best acai bowl I've had in awhile. Definitely will be coming back for breakfast soon.

After trying the Honolulu Coffee in Ala Moana, I decided it was time try one of their other stores. Since I work close to the one on Bishop Street, I decided to go there. I ordered a dry cappuccino. It was pretty good, however for $5.50 I'm not sure it was totally worth it. Also on the menu they only had one size listed, but they actually have a couple different sizes. They should really look at updating their menu so customers are not confused. All in all okay coffee but there are better places near by.

Latte, kona coffe with whipped cream, and some macaroons!

Good coffee, but super overpriced. I mean $4 for just a plain coffee and $7 for pre-made mini sandwiches. Get a grip, it's not worth it.

Sadly, it seemed more folks were there for the pastries though. First off, I'm surprised I found such a fabulous cup of coffee in what feels like the epicenter of tourist life on this island. While visiting another island nearly establishment had signage stating they served Kona and/or Hawaiian coffee, but nearly every establishment's coffee was absolutely awful. Seeing the location I fully expected them to phone in the coffee, but it's clear that coffee comes first here, even if many of the guests are trying to get pastries! You'll be shocked by the line, but just know the staff is efficient and it moves fast. They offer a variety of their own locally roasted beans here, with options for batch brew, espresso drinks and even pour overs (impressive considering the volume of customers). The coffees are well described and the baristas have the additional knowledge you may be seeking when you order, and all in all this went as quickly as I could have expected. Truly, the coffee was delightful, and the fact I was drinking a hot drink on an extremely hot day didn't even phase me. I wanted so badly to bring home a bag of each one, but given that everything is more expensive in Hawaii, these were all 4x the price of the specialty coffee I buy on the mainland and I just couldn't make it happen. What will happen is me telling everyone to visit this shop when they're in Hawaii because it is 100% worth it. Won't you consider opening one in Reno NV?
