Took my husbands Tag watch here a few months back for a cleaning and they did a great job! They polished the band and it looked brand new! I took a couple of his other tag watches in last week for the same service, but this time, they looked exactly the same as when I dropped them off, down to the sticky stuff that was on the face of the watch (I think it was a sticker that had left some residue). I asked if the watch had even been cleaned, especially since the face was still sticky. She told me that they only cleaned the band, cleaning the face of the watch was a separate charge. Mind you the band also didn't look any cleaner than it had when I dropped it off. Pretty disappointed considering that my first experience was so good. The crown on my Rolex Jubilee stripped again 2 weeks ago (I swear my hands are not like vise grips :-) ). Poor customer service! I find from visiting their website that I was met by the owner's son (David Bui). I walked in at 6:07pm, not realizing the place closed at 6:00. He comes out from the back and looks at his watch and then looks at me like I did something to offend him. Then, tells me they are closed and forgot to lock the door. Total jerk! Guess this one of those "owner's son lets the family business go down the toilet." I actually was hoping to give a local business some business, instead of taking my watch to Ben Bridge for its maintenance. My everyday Coach bangle watch came undone when I dropped it at the spa. I hadn't known anywhere else besides Sears that did watch repair. Just had the battery replaced in my watch. Done fast and for a reasonable price. It's a $600 watch, so I look for a higher-end watch shop, like Honolulu Time Co. I only had two minutes of interaction, but can't say that the lady who helped me came off strong in the customer service department. English was clearly not her primary language, but this isn't a problem for me. I lived in Europe for 5 years and know what it's like to live in a country where language is something you have to think about consciously. The problem was that she was gruff and never smiled. I presented the watch and said that I needed the battery replaced. She flipped it over to look at the back, and replied "$19.95." I said that this would be fine and how long would the repair take. "10 minute." It was done in half the time. I handed her my credit card, and she placed it on the counter and pushed it back to me. "Nothah card." I didn't understand what she was saying, so I said "Excuse me?" She replied "No American Express. Nothah card." Oh, another card. I said "Not a problem" and handed her my Visa. She gave me the receipt to sign without another word. If she learned 20 words more English that would go along way. Smiling would be nice, but that's a bonus. If she would just say: "It will cost XXX. Is that OK?" Also, saying "Thank you" to a customer at the end of the transaction couldn't hurt either. I am still giving 4 stars, the work was quick, efficient and reasonably priced. When I need the battery replaced in my other watch. I'll go back. read more

Replacing my watch batteries - 4 stars. Friendliness - 2 stars. Clock Repair - they get zero stars. They advertise clock repair, especially when I googled "Clock Repair Honolulu" and this company pops up. Well, no!! I drove all the way from Ewa Beach to Kapiolani Blvd and was told in broken English that they no longer do clock repair. No apology, no effort to refer to another reliable business. Honolulu Time Repair should update their ads: NO CLOCK REPAIR and WE SPEAK BLOKEN ENGRISH. I would always get my watches repaired only at HTC ever since they were located in Market City back in the 90's and even when I moved out to Ewa Beach but I think I can find other places that are better. read more

I luv watches. In fact, I wear them more as an accessory than as a resource to tell time. Sounds crazy but if you think about it, time displays are everywhere these days (e.g., cell phones, car dashboards, etc) so personal watches to tell the time are somewhat less critical. Anyhow, this Christmas I recieved a mens watch that was naturally too big for my wrist. I yelped watch repair & since this was closest to my residence, decided to check it out. When I drove up to the bldg, I was a little apprehensive they might over-charge to remove the extra links. The store front is simple but classy with floor to ceiling windows and glass display cases with watches, jewlery & specialty pocket watches. Upon entrance, an automatic sound indicated to the staff in the back that someone was on the floor. A young man came out to help me & after I tried on the watch for him, knew I needed 3 links removed. He said it'd take 10 mins & disappeared while I 'ooohed & ahhhhed' over some of the high end watches, rings and necklaces. He emerged less than 5 mins later with my perfectly sized watch & charged me $10. I have dealt with David and the folks at Honolulu Time for over 6 years. They have serviced over a dozen timepieces for me. In every case they did a great job. One thing to remember about watch repair: it ain't easy! And not every problem can be solved. Plus Hawaiian conditions are really tough on watches. One little drop of saltwater will basically ruin a watch if it gets into the case. Keep that crown screwed in boys! There are almost no "real" watchmakers in Hawaii and Honolulu Time is one of the last places with these skills. So support them with your business. read more

I always thought my first review would go toward food... But here we are! I came in to Honolulu Time Co. last Friday with a watch with a dead battery and condensation inside the face. They were able to replace the battery and clean the moisture out in an hour, $40. As the weekend went by, through washing of hands and the like, I discovered that the condensation came creeping back into my watch! So I took it back to the shop, and the people at the shop offered to clean out the moisture, as well as put it through a water-resistance test; it was there that I discovered that my 'water resistant' watch was no longer water resistant, due to normal wear and tear. They offered me a couple of options to reseal the watch, but since my watch is old enough and I don't put it through THAT much strain normally, I thought I'd just be more careful about exposing it to water. Overall, a good experience through them, and they willingly cleaned the moisture out the second time, free of charge. read more

I went in for a pressure test for a Rolex and came out with a Omega Seamaster. I got a very fair price and excellent service on both counts. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody. I've been in contact with David for a little while trying to find a watch. He was very professional and timely with his responses, letting me know what was going on. David was able to find me what I've been looking for, a vintage Speedmaster Professional. I was uneasy about purchasing vintage, let alone my first timepiece (aside from the cheaper nixon, timex, etc..), but David assured me that he'd done his due diligence and that everything was legit and good. My Seiko watch band broke at work and I'm lost without my watch and since they are close to my home, off I went! When I made it to the store, I wondered if they were open since I didnt see any workers but once I went in, a nice lady popped out from the back and asked me if I needed some help. I told her about changing my watch band (I had a spare band with me). She took it in the back and I waited by checking out all the nice watches they had for sale. This place is a joke! I had a bad experience from beginning to end. 1st off; Don't ever waste a client's precious time ever again! I called in to see if the store would take a BVLGARI watch and with excitement, the gentleman over the phone said to bring it over, we can take a look at it together. 2nd; I brought it over and some Chinese lady approached me and said she was willing to help even asked how much I wanted for my watch etc. Regardless, she put me in a spot where it got me hoping for trades, we're dealing with an expensive watch here woman! 3rd; Leaving me in the lobby expecting for the best, she entered to an office and suddenly another lady came out "The Owner UglyBEEP Asian Lady" popped out and Miss Unprofessional Sales Person never came back out with her. The "OWNER" without even a Hello and asked no open ended questions built zero clientel with me immediately acted out and said "We won't be accepting that watch, not interested." Lol Even though "They" gladly mentioned to bring it over and make appraisals together. Where the hell's your Customer Service? Wasted my time.... Bad customer service and the head watch technician Ling smelled like cigarette smoke. I am a professional scuba diver and wanted to have my dive watch's Oring lubricated and fitted. I spoke to them over the phone to get an Oring lubricated for a water tight seal and they said they could do it. Drove all the way down there and then the head watchmaker ( who smelled like an ash tray) tells me he didn't know how.... How does one run a business like that...or repair a time piece??? LOL:( I do NOT recommend this place to anyone and as a professional diver I would recommend maybe Ben Bridge at Alamona for watch batteries , water tight Orings or service in general. Went down here to take some links out of my watchs wristband. I took out 6 links and it took only about 15 mins. Was charged $8.00. The woman that helped me was very helpful and friendly. I am so happy now that this watch does fit. They also sell lots of watches and other stuff. There was free parking in front of the store. Of course people who are coming in for a free appraisal don't want to hear that they can't get one just because Mr. Linh says something looks incorrect and he has to look inside. And just because you claim to 30 plus years of experience, it doesn't mean the customer will take your word without being given a proper explanation. Maybe I didn't make myself clear, although I tried my best. My 20 year old Bulova watch's second hand started moving ahead in 5-second jumps. In the past that always meant I needed a new battery, and since I was next door at the Ala Moana shopping center I walked down to the Time Co to get a new one put in. I also wanted to have the goop which had accumulated around the stem (under the crown) removed. A very nice lady came out when I entered, and I explained the situation to her. She looked at the watch and pointed out a scratch on the crystal so I wouldn't think it had happened during the repair. I agreed; it's been there for years. She took the watch to the back room, and returned to me in the showroom. We talked about watches for a few minutes, then she went back into the back room and returned with my watch. She said it couldn't be fixed, because parts weren't available. I said I didn't want anything fixed, and asked if they could just put a new battery in it, but she refused. I left, thinking a new watch was called for, especially when it stopped completely over the weekend, but, hey, nothing to lose, so I went to Longs and asked them to replace the battery. They took overnight to do it, but I got it back today and it works fine. They also (without being asked, and without telling me) cleaned the gunk on the stem. At Longs it cost $7.50. So, like I say, maybe they misunderstood what I wanted. I hope that's all it was. read more
