    Shrimp rice roll with cilantro
    Chrissy N.

The Spicy Shrimp will be one of our go-to's for tasty rice rolls which sits in the heart of Chinatown. The Shrimp with Cilantro Rice Roll was tasty, but a heads-up: the shrimp comes in small bits, not the whole prawns I was really hoping for. That said, the flavor is still there--savory soy sauce coats the soft rice rolls and shrimp, with the fresh cilantro (a 50-cent add-on) providing a bright, essential lift. The Beef with Lettuce Rice Roll was a savory standout. The seasoned minced beef is delicious, and the crisp lettuce (also a 50-cent addition) is worth the extra cost for the fantastic textural crunch it adds. They have an extensive menu with relatively reasonable price and we would return to try their noodle soup and other items they offer.

We were in search of some cheung fun (rice noodle rolls) in Chinatown and came across this spot! It's most definitely authentic in both food, presentation, and service. We got the Pork Steamed Rice Rolls and they were delish! Made fresh, the rice paper was thin and light and the fillings were plentiful. Super yummy! Everything was served up on paper plates and bowls haha. It really reminded me of family parties or Asian households that do this for ease of cleanup. As far as service goes, it reallyyyy helps if someone in your party speaks Canto. We saw a party walk out due to the lag in service and possible delays due to the language barrier.

The restaurant main dining room was felt cramped and disorganized like random bucket on the floor tucked by the cash register... the menu was sticky. For their famous rice rolls you have to order before 5pm we got there a little past 5pm and there one option left so we did order it. It was beef rice rolls- with the soy sauce it was ok, but the dough was heavy and doughy. I definitely would not rank this at the top of what china town has to offer. One star for a very kind waitress who was kind interactable courteous to us and did her very best to give us a good experience.

This type of food is so comforting to me. I'm a self proclaimed soup girly so congee is high on my list of favorite meals! My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch after window shopping/real shopping nearby in Chinatown. We shared the bbq pork rice roll, shrimp rice roll, salt and pepper calamari, and century egg and pork congee. The rice rolls came out piping hot with a silky chewy texture. The calamari was yummy- crispy and well seasoned (you really can't beat the simple yet effective flavor of the jalapeños, onions, and S&P). The congee was the best part of the meal in my humble opinion. It was thick and flavorful. It makes me sad when congee is too thin or plain. They also don't skimp on any toppings or portion sizes here! We were stuffed and still had leftovers. The prices are more than reasonable with most entrees costing under $10 or $15. I will note that this place is busy with locals and tourists alike, given its location. I wouldn't expect warm or specifically attentive service but I have no problem with that. Feel free to line up, sit at the next open table, grab your menus, flag down a server to order, and go pay at the counter when you're done. Easy. Will definitely be back next time I'm craving!

Came here for the rice rolls. First impression of the place: Locals smoking outside, check No tourists inside, check No bright lighting inside, check This was a hole in the wall, if you know, you know place. Prices were very reasonable. Ordered the shrimp rice rolls, bbq pork rice rolls, and the century egg jook (porridge). The rice rolls are a bit different from other ones because the meat is on top of the rolls instead of inside. The bbq pork was diced up into small bits and scattered on top. The shrimp (or shrimps, like some of my friends say) were cut in 1/4 pieces instead of the usual full shrimp. Liked the flavoring. The rice rolls were thin and silky. The jook was fantastic. Just the right amount of savory with the century egg and pork. Hidden gem and would come back again.

Very tasty Chung Fun and the vermecelli was also very good! Price is reasonable as well! What else can you ask for? A definite find in CT!

The xo seafood chow fun was yummy! And always get a rice noodle roll because I think they make the best ones in sf.

The Rice noodle rolls!!!! My go to order is the rice noodle rolls, as well as the cold honey lemon tea. If I'm in the mood for something sweet and savory I will also get the hot soy milk with Chinese donut. The rice noodles are spongy, have a decent amount of meat/shrimp and have just the right amount of pull. They come with a side of sweet vinegar which just elevates the dish to a whole other level! Each table also has a pot of house chili oil, which is absolutely delicious and I recommend adding a little bit on all your dishes to elevate the flavor. If you are craving some good rice rolls and solid Cantonese food definitely check out the spicy shrimp in Chinatown!

    Bbq cherng fun
    Audry S.

This spot in SF is so popping and full of Chinese people, so you know this place is legit and delicious. I only came for their cherng fun and I got it to go because we had to leave for a flight to LA. I got the bbq pork cherng fun ( sorry if I can't spell correctly, I just woke up). You better know how to speak Canto or Mando when you're ordering because these ladies don't have the time in the world to be trying to decipher what you're saying in English. lol luckily I know how to speak Canto and order my dish, they are quick and efficient. My order took around 15 minutes to prepare because they were so backed up with all the people in there. It's a fairly small restaurant so you have to wait for a table. I enjoyed the cherng fun very much, it was soft, flavorful, and authentic. I still prefer NYC style of cherng fun, I hate to say it but they the best out there. I suggest coming here if you want an authentic experience. Don't expect fine dining when you come here, but please give it a try and support local business out here in SF, especially in Chinatown. I'd come back again.

First time trying this place for lunch with family members. I have to say this is one of the best classic cantonese dish. The shrimp steam rice noodle, tasted like the one from China. Absolutely delicious! The pork with Preserved Egg Porridge, it's also delicious. The pork is really tender. It's a tradition to pair with the Chinese fried dough. If you have not try these two dishes together then you are missing out. Lastly, we got the beef tenders noodle soup. I think this is their signature dish. The beef tenders were marinade in a secret sauce. I definitely will come back and order this again. The lemon sweet tea, is also my favorite to pair with the food. But also it's good to grab on a go as well. Although, it's only one server for the whole restaurant, but is easy to call her over to the table. The food comes in very quickly. This is place it's one of the hidden gems in the heart of Chinatown.

Great local spot. We came on a Saturday morning and The Spicy Shrimp was bustling with locals. We ordered a shrimp rice roll, fried rice, and eggplant tofu clay pot. Food came super quickly and was hot and piping. Great flavor, generous portions, and very reasonable prices. The Spicy Shrimp also has lots of indoor and outdoor seating, so we got a table immediately despite how busy they were. Interior is relatively clean and service was friendly. Their hot oil is also tasty.

If you want authentic chinese food thats fairly inexpensive, this is the place in chinatown. None of the dishes were particularly outstanding to me, their well known steamed rice roll noodles was decent. I was however a huge fan of the soy milk they had, just the perfect amount of sugar and extremely comforting on a cold day.

Shrimp rice roll will leave you with cravings you never knew you were capable of. Service is mediocre but with food this good, who cares! Essential part of a good Chinatown crawl

We started with the escargot and milk bread, which was incredibly garlicky in the best way. The escargot itself had an almost mushroom-like texture, with subtle Asian influences, though it also reminded us of classic American garlic butter. Regardless, it was delicious and a great way to start the meal. The kumquat highball was probably our favorite drink of the night--refreshing, balanced, and full of bright citrus flavor. The oolong tea was good, although we've had better elsewhere. The Xinjiang lamb skewer was an interesting interpretation, almost like a flavorful meatball rather than a traditional skewer, but it worked well. Our favorite dish was the claypot rice with Chinese sausage and bacon. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor, and the combination of smoky, savory, and crispy textures made it an absolute standout. The special of the day, fried sole with fermented mustard greens, was also memorable. The fish itself was excellent, but the dish had two distinct personalities. The side coated in the sauce had deep, savory flavors that felt unmistakably Asian, while the top with the mustard greens had a surprisingly Western character--we even thought we detected dill. It was an unusual contrast, but an interesting one. The dessert was also an interesting take on the mango pudding - strawberry sorbet was a nice addition with the mango pudding with almond flakes and real strawberries. Overall, Four Kings delivers creative, memorable food in a vibrant setting. It's the kind of restaurant that takes familiar flavors in unexpected directions, and we're already looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Once they opened the doors we were seated immediately so the strategy paid off. The menu looked incredible across the board so we went in and tried almost everything. We ordered a ton for 2 people and had a lot to bring home. Here's the breakdown: Order these: Squab Liver Skewers: Rich and packed with flavor, a great way to start. I dont even like liver, but this was good! Typhoon Shelter Soft Shell Crab: Really well executed, would order again without hesitation. Salt and Pepper Tiger Prawns: Simple but done perfectly. Singaporean Chili Crab with Fried Milkbread: Delicious but one note here. The bread is a bit much and doesn't add a ton to the dish. This would be even better served over noodles to soak up all that chili crab sauce. HK Black Pepper Steak: So juicy and flavorful. One of the standouts of the night. XO Escargot with Milkbread: Another winner. Beef Chow Fun Noodles: Genuinely the best chow fun I've ever had. Do not skip this one. Mapo Spaghetti with Beef: A fun and unexpected combination that really works. Salt and pepper squid skewers: Packed with protein. Super flavorful! Yuzu Sake: The perfect drink pairing for this menu. Skip these: Chong Qing Fried Hawt Rabbit and Peruvian Chicken Fried Rice were the two misses of the night. Save your stomach space for everything else. The flavors here are exceptional and the service matched it perfectly. Will absolutely be back and already trying to figure out how to snag a reservation next time!

There was no music playing and it felt like everyone was whispering at their tables because it felt weird to talk at a normal volume. The interior design also does not match the quality/price of the food - I really think this place could use a redesign and new paint job... Anyway, the food overall was good, but definitely on the pricey side. We got two items off the seasonal menu - a spicy shrimp wonton starter, and the country fried rice. The wontons were good, but not spicy, and the fried rice was really good. It definitely could have used some chili oil on top, but was still good as it was served. The food also came out pretty quickly and was a great temperature. We also got the spicy string beans. They were alright, but not much better than any other dim sum restaurant's. Our total after tax & tip was about $100 for two people, with just two starters, one main dish, and a single beer. This definitely feels high for the quality/quantity of the food, but the great service helps makes up for this. I would say if this place got a redesign and lowered the prices a bit, it would be booked up every day.
