6 of us were able to get a table for lunch without a reservation. And WOW, for a Michelin Guide recognized restaurant, we left unimpressed. Ambiance: Small space with 10 closely situated tables. Chairs were uncomfortable to sit on, and the headrests failed to allow any handbags to hang on. Food: We ordered a variety of items that any other typical dim sum places offer. Any kind of dumplings we got: wrappers were too soft and fell apart as soon as they were picked up, before they could reach our plates. Green onion pancakes soaked in a lot of oil and were soggy. All other dishes were average, except crab egg noodles. That was actually very delicious. We also never got our fried rice and ended up canceling it. Noting its whooping prices and the mediocre dishes, I must say I've had better cheaper dim sum in Chinatown and in South Bay. Will not be back.

Pretty decent dim sum spot for SF! I will not lie, SF does not have the best dim sum, but this spot did it pretty well. I do think it is a little expensive for dim sum. We got a whole lot of things - the bbq pork baos were surprisingly tasty and filled appropriately. The dry green beans were very good. Service was great too! I would recommend making a reservation as it can definitely get busy.

Small Chinese restaurant with great food and service. We had the dungeoness crab, half Peking duck and yin yang fried rice. The crab was fantastic. The meat was tender and flavorful. You really can taste the freshness. The Peking duck was also really good and the reason we wanted to come here. The yin yang fried rice was a pleasant surprise. All in just under $200. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

The food was really good! Our group ordered family style: We had su mai, haw gow , rib eye chow fun, Peking duck, short ribs and dau, mu. Everything was delicious and tasty

Such nice staff, Michelin star in 2025, cute queen, and incredible sweet-and-sour pork!!

High 4.5 stars. Service was friendly, very well attended and helpful; I liked that the waiter described the order as he placed it on table; food was delicious and fresh; flavors and carefully prepared; the duck dumpling was an enjoyable delight of flavors with an added crunchiness from peanuts; rice was a bit harder than I prefer; the restaurant is nicely decorated and gives a more upscale ambience feel. It is on the pricier side. Enjoyable and good flavor.

It's a Michelin Guide-recognized restaurant but it was underwhelming and we left unimpressed. My friend and I didn't know what we got ourselves into, she thought it was a different HK restaurant. As soon as we looked at the menu, it was a bit pricier than we expected. But we proceeded to order anyways. I mean it was our fault for ordering a lot of dishes, but for 8 items, the bill came out to over $200. I feel like at other dim sum places, it'd be half of that price. The best dishes were the vegetable dishes and the fried stuff. I didn't care for the dumplings and the noodle dish was okay. The eggplant shrimp dish was my favorite and i was also so happy that they had the water spinach dish! And the calamari were really good too. The service was amazing though! They were super polite, attentive, and changed out our dishwares.

Decent food that I mostly enjoyed. It was a bit like other chinese dumpling places but better. We ordered 5 items none of then stood out as amazing but all tasted good. Nothing unique really but all had tasty flavor, correct temp and the right seasoning. Service was good snd so was ambiance a bit tighter but cute. a classic spot that gave me a timeless feel.

Came here for Mother's Day. Good thing we had a reservation, the place was jam packed. It is not a big place to start with. This is not a place where dimsum comes in a cart and you can just point and get what you see. You need to order them. It's quite pricey but the ingredients feel fresh. The shrimp, scallops and fish taste like good quality so I don't feel bad for the $36 house special noodle. Service was excellent. Writers were attentive through out and very polite. I don't mind coming back here to try their regular menu if I were in SF, but I don't feel that I want to drive there just to go to this place.

Phenomenal. I may have been swayed by the Michelin 2025 plaque posted up front but this place tasted so amazing that we had to come back twice and may be back again! FYI - There are 2 menus - #1.breakfast/lunch and #2. dinner. We had the congee and pot stickers for lunch. The congee was the best my wife ever had, she says. The potstickers were clean , non oily and perfectly crispy. Even the chili sauce was incredible - tad sweet, spicy and interestingly smokey. For dinner we had the imperial seafood bisque, seafood mapo tofu, and the honey glazed bbq Berkshire pork belly. The seafood bisque surprisingly had so much seafood in it with shrimp, fish and more. Very tasty. The mapo tofu usually has pork, but here it was packed with seafood instead. It was spiked with szechuan peppers that gives the numbing feeling. Not a fan of the feeling so it wasn't my fav but it was like a 7/10. The berkshire pork belly was super interesting. It was sweet, gelatenous, thick and had a chocolate like flavor. Idk how but the chocolate works. It made the dish almost taste like a dessert. Theres far more dishes I'd love to try and I'll definitely be back for more.

The dim sum here was pretty good. Every dish was prepared well and tasted fresh. I'm not sure why the restaurant's ratings are so high though. While the food was fine, the prices were exorbitant, especially given the small portions. Perhaps the greatest offender was the $18 plate of black and pepper pork spare ribs. What we got were 8 little pieces of deep fried pork that were mostly just bones. The soup dumplings were very average. The wrapper was too thick and the meat filling wasn't terribly flavorful. The lotus-wrapped sticky rice was also very average. The small piece of pork in the middle was tasty, but the sticky rice lacked any real fragrance or flavor. The truffle salt shrimp toast was our favorite dish. Service was great - attentive and friendly . The restaurant is very small inside and can get quite noisy. The location is strange, in a non-descript, somewhat dodgy part of Soma.

You can't deny that the quality here is amazing, but the prices for the dim sum really have you second-guessing life choices. We ordered 7 dishes among 3 people and for the total to come out to $60+ per person is insane, especially when a fried rice costs $30 and the tea wasn't complementary. The space itself is quite small with tight seating. You'll need to wait for a spot, which can take a while, but it's nice that they don't rush you to leave. You order off a menu and put check marks next to items you want.

I'm telling all my friends & family about this place. HK Lounge Bistto serves excellent dim sum and chef's specialty dishes all around. The only downside is the location of the restaurant since it's in SoMa - not my favorite neighborhood in SF to walk around in and the parking situation isn't great, but the food is well worth it. All the dishes we ordered were great (hot, fresh, less oily than other dim sum restaurants) and came out quickly! My personal favorite was the coffee glazed baby back pork ribs - such a unique, multi-dimensional, and well-executed dish - HIGHLY recommend. We also liked the crab meat egg noodle. HK Lounge Bistro is my new favorite dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Stopped by Palette Tea House with The Kid after FoodieLand thinking we were just coming for tea... and ended up having a full experience. We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. The Kid ordered the Milk Aroma Oolong, which surprisingly tasted almost like milk tea even though it's just brewed tea. Each tea comes with its own kettle, and Ken even came back to refill the hot water for us. For food, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice, which was a huge portion and easily shareable. Very flavorful and well prepared. We also tried the Sichuan Seafood Dumplings and the Iberico Pork Dumplings, both of which were delicious. One order is definitely enough to share. The dumplings come with several dipping sauces including soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, hot mustard, and a cilantro-based sauce that had a slightly sweet, horseradish-like flavor that really stood out. Service throughout the meal was amazing. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. As a Michelin-recognized restaurant for 2025, it definitely felt like a special treat and lived up to the experience.

I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect.
