    Tuna Tartar.

Nice ambiance, with jazz music in the background and quiet place to enjoy a date night. The service was great and very attentive, all the items came quickly and regularly checking in. The signature tuna tartar was great, for sure coming back for that. The Jersey roll was good with not nonsense just fish and the fish in the sashimi tasted fresh and flavorful.

Just a walk away from our apartment, my bf and I went here on a date night craving sushi. Very dim lit restaurant with friendly staff, this place is a great option for an elevated sushi night out. ORDERED Sushi Sashimi for 2: this was AWESOME. As someone who is quite honestly an endless tank when it comes to sushi, this was FILLING. Kind of questioned whether or not wed be able to finish but i should never doubt myself - of course we did. Very worth the money and a common thing we heard about this place was that the fish was fresh and the answer is yes. Matcha Crème Bruelee: was it delicious? Yes it was. Would I order again? Probably not? The matcha made it on the bitter side which was a nice change but I think I would just have regular crème brûlée.

This has become one of my favorite sushi spots in Jersey City! I've been here about three times for dinner, and each time I come, the staff are friendly, and there is no wait for a table. The vibes are also nice; there are candles on the tables and the lighting is dim. Finally, the sushi is great; there's a lot of options to choose from, and the rolls always taste fresh. I've had the Montgomery Roll and Honshu Roll, and they're both delicious.

I will definitely be coming back here for the affordable lunch deals! Service was very good and I loved every sushi I got!

A lovely comfy dinner spot next to the riverfront/Exchange. We went for Saturday dinner, it wasn't too busy. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant has nice decor and ambience. The menu is decent, not overwhelming, bunch of appetizers, sushi rolls and few other entrees. Among appetizers, grilled calamari was good, jumbo scallops, miso soup and eggplant were excellent. The Tokyo roll was amazing, but Godzilla and Montgomery rolls were okay for me. My friend loves their tuna tar tar. The katsu don were nice fulfilling dish as well. Service is good. Food in prepared in a decent time. Sushi rolls are colorful and presented nicely. But for the price, it is not as extravagant as upscale Japanese restaurant.

Good Japanese food in Jersey city exchange place. Chicken katsu don is good but the egg is not runny enough. Grilled calamari is good. Scallops has little flavor. Service is great. Very attentive staff. Nice ambiance inside.

I've been here several times for lunch and really enjoyed it each time. The restaurant has lots of nice, unique wood fixtures and an upscale ambiance, but the foot isn't terribly expensive. Service is prompt and the sushi is fresh and quite tasty. I've had the lunch special set a couple of times because of the variety of things that come with it. Miso soup, salad, dumplings edamame, sushi, a roll and fruit for dessert. It makes a very nice meal!

Found a bug in my takeout chirashi. Been a customer since I moved to Jersey City but will never order again after this. Finding a bug in food from a restaurant that mainly serves uncooked seafood is a huge food safety concern.

Food (2/5): Wow perhaps one of the worst sushi places I've had in a while. The rice is mushy and the ingredients did not taste fresh. The shrimp tempura roll had a funky flavor like something was rotten. We got the scallop roll, tuna avocado, salmon, and shrimp tempura. All were not good. Service (3/5): Ok service. They took our order fast and the sushi came out in approximately 10 minutes. They could've been more friendly. Ambiance (4/5): Only good part about this restaurant is the interior looks nice. There are nice decorations, spacious seating and a nice bar area.

This was a great restaurant! Everything ordered on the menu was delicious. Fish was tender and seasoned just right. Fried octopus balls were crunchy. Sushi was fresh. Scallops were tender and sauce was delicious. Service was great and ambiance was nice. Although I visited here in the winter, the outdoor seating was still quite warm. This is a must try and the price was reasonable.

This spot has great lunch specials especially since it's near my work and I only go during lunch so that works out I usually aim for sashimi which is what I got today & I loved it all. also starts with a miso soup which is tasty. During weekdays they really get you in and out for those that have to go back to work. Love this spot!

    Hotate scallop temaki

Quality/taste: I got the 5 set Temaki and shared the Honshu roll with my friends. Every piece tasted fresh and just melted into my mouth. The set included 1pc yellowtail, 1pc salmon, 1pc tuna, 1pc scallop, 1pc toro tuna belly. It was so good!!! Would definitely get it again. My favorite was the scallop, tuna, toro hand rolls. But honestly they were all really good. Great flavor and they DID NOT skimp on the fish portions!! Service: Good service! Server was really nice and prompt with refilling our waters and bringing out the next piece immediately. Environment: The seating was a little weird at first... The host said we could only get nigiri one of the sections but not the other..?? And the omakase was only in the outer seating area. It was a bit confusing to determine which area to sit at and she didn't really help even though we told her what we were there for. Price: $$ Reasonably priced. It wasn't overpriced like most sushi places around here. Definitely recommend and would come back for sure! I wish I lived closer to go more often!!!

Honshu had really nice sushi for comparable prices to other sushi places. Fish was fresh and the rolls were fun. I'd order takeout again.

    What time is happy hour?

We are changing every month. But it is around 5pm to 6:30pm. Thank you.

Hi, how much time does it take to do the Omakase? And how much does it cost? thanks!

It depends on how many pieces you get, but you can estimate it to be about 2 to 3 hours. There are different levels, but the one I get that is amazing is about 180, but is a lot. Compared to other sushi places with the same quality, their Omakase…

They are fairly strict with their dining time period as it is busy. Be sure to book a reservation. Their menu is fairly large with plenty of appetizers as well as hot and cold udon options (note: this is a udon spot, not ramen). I got their kanimaze (cold) and their tantan (hot) and both were delicious. The kanimaze was refreshing and full of flavor. And the tantan was rich, comforting, and warm. Their shrimp tempura and agedashi were also great. Lightly fried and not too greasy. Would love to come back to try their other options.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that they expanded into the adjacent storefront. Now there's 4-5 booths and a bar table. The annex matches the interior design of their Soho and Midtown location and feels clean and spacious. Service was a bit slow from the hostess to the server. We ordered: small chicken tatsuta-age, niku udon, kamonan udon, assorted mushroom udon, green tea tiramisu, souffle fruit roll, soba pudding. Appreciate how big the chunks of meat are used for fried chicken. The exterior was a bit overfried but the interior stayed Broth and udon aligns with their Soho location which makes me more willing to come to this location moving forward. The assorted mushroom is seasonal. It's a nice lighter cleaner option but at the same time the mushrooms don't add much flavor. Kamonan is the duck which I chose because duck is a less common meat option around. I felt that the duck was a bit tough and bland yet also added too much oil into the clean broth (relatively to me). Niku is an OG but I haven't had it in a while. This time I was surprised how the marinate is light resulting in stronger meat flavor. I wish it would be more tender but it's alright. Desserts were more disappointing to me. I used to go to Patisserie Fouet frequently before they shut down the Union Square location. Green tea tiramisu had strong matcha soaks but I found the overall dessert to be a bit bland. The soaked sponge was a bit too wet too. Souffle fruit roll was huge, better to share with others especially after already eating savory food beforehand. I think it's intentional for the cake to be so dense. It came out really smooth but way too dense to feel like a dessert. I think I would eat this as breakfast instead. The raspberry sauce's tartness and punchiness is much needed otherwise I don't know if I can finish it. Soba pudding is my usual favorite and it stands up to the test of time. Still super smooth and with wheaty depth.

Niku and gyunan were divine. In the niku, they somehow managed to make the tripe and beef tendon immensely flavorful and tender without being heavy-handed. The fatty beef in the gyunan was crack with the sesame chili oil. The bonito base soup was somehow savory and full-bodied while also being sweet and light, so even though I was about to burst it didn't feel icky. Nothing to note in appetizer land besides the fact that I finally tried monkfish liver and it literally tasted like a salmon-flavored paté. Both surprised and relieved it tasted so normal. Ordering was quick and I got the eggplant (fyi one of my favorite veggies) appetizer to try. It was an American eggplant and it seems like it was baked first. Then they had a ground pork sauce and quail egg on the top. The server suggested to mix it in and then eat it. It kind of like an Asian baba ghanoush where got pretty creamy. I enjoyed it! I was pretty excited to try the udon and it tasted chewy and wasn't overcooked. I think they could crank up the AC a little bit towards the back of the restaurant because felt a bit toasty.
