I've been wanting to try this place for the past few weeks but for some reason seem to always go on random Sunday they were off. Suggest you check the Instagram, it's a small business and can appreciate them open when they are. I live in Santa ana and so glad I have this coffee available to me. I got the Muertos charcoal foam cofee and it was what I was expecting, a little sweet for me but I love strong coffee to begin with. I also had the beans and chorizo bread which I really enjoyed. The service was goodmy order was quick. The price is fine for the quality and taste. The ambiance is also what I expected, its outside a bakery and with plenty of parking. When you live in Santa ana you are used to small business around you and know you may need to eat in your car or on the sidewalk. Cant wait to try other items in their menu. read more

Hood Coffee is located not too far from the circle away from the main congestion of traffic. Initially when we walked in, there was only one menu that was blocked by the first customers being helped. I think a menu located somewhere for all incoming customers to see would be great so that it could help the flow of orders go smoother. I tried the half sweet cookie butter latter with oat milk and my husband got the horchata Vietnamese coffee. The cookie butter latte was super delicious, with cookie crumbles on top that added to the presentation while hitting all the flavor notes that I love. My husband's horchata Vietnamese coffee was very sweet. We had originally asked for half sweet but with this drink it can only be made less sweet if they added more Vietnamese coffee. We wanted to give it a chance to try it as is but I think next time we would go with their recommendation to add more Vietnamese coffee to balance how sweet the horchata was. Ultimately I would definitely return to try more lattes here. Overall the ambience is very basic, this is not a location where you linger, but I don't ever overlook humble beginnings I'm looking forward to seeing maybe more color inside or just an ambience that is more warm and welcoming. read more

I stopped by to try something I saw on their Instagram page, and I decided to go for their Ube iced coffee. The staff member helping me mentioned it was Vietnamese coffee with horchata & ube. Honestly, it was really flavorful and delicious! The only thing is, the coffee gave me jitters all day, but that's just my personal reaction--nothing wrong with the coffee itself. It's quite a strong brew, so maybe others might enjoy it even more than I did. Still, I really enjoyed the taste, and I think I'll come back to try a smaller size or a different flavor. Tried this for the first time. I ordered the mazapan late and it took 15 min for my drink with no one else waiting ahead of me. Service could be faster. And customer service was not great. Not bad either. The cashier didn't know much and provided no welcome. He forgot I was waiting for me drink and greeted me again. You can easily miss this location and would not think there's a coffee shop. The inside is old and there's no style or ambiance to it. This review is based on my first experience not on the food. The jalapeno cream cheese was good and soft . The coffee was ok. Just tased like a regular iced latte with crumble mazapan at the bottom. Nothing bad. But nothing special. Been coming here a litte over a year! I don't go to other coffee places anymore. They are currently in front of D.F. Bakery while their place gets built out (it will be off Grand). Amazing, delicious coffee!! Strong espresso & Vietnamese coffee. The Horchata Viet will have you seeing sounds. The owners & and Josh are super cool. Santi does the deliveries & is quick. The menu is right on the table for drinks & breads. They have breads DF does NOT have. If you need your drink customized, all you have to do is mention that. If you need to be babied about your coffee or you don't know how to tell someone you want more/less of something, you are making yourself miss out on the best coffee because you don't wanna open your mouth. Drinks are very solid! I've had this place twice now. First time I went, I got the Pumpkin Horchata Viet and the Pumpkin Cream Chai (not pictured). The Viet drink tasted good, though it was a bit sweet, and tasted more of horchata than coffee. The chai was a bit too milky for my tastes. This time around (which is pictured) I went with some friends and they both got cookie butter lattes, I got pumpkin cream chai again. The chai was def better this time around, and I could taste the chai spices and the pumpkin spice cream much better. I tried my friend's cookie butter lattes, and it's very well balanced ! Lovely biscoff flavor but the sugar is mellowed out with strong coffee. More of a stop-n-go atmosphere, but staff was very friendly! read more

Tamales are still the same luckily. The name sucks ass and more coffee??!! there's already 4+ coffee locations 2 blocks down. They say it's the same but it's not, I would not go again unless you're desperate.Can't see the menu because it's blocked by customers it's so small and not even posted anywhere. Everything was amazing, the employees were nice and took their time to describe different drink options, the tamales were on point! Highly recommend to get one of each and share. We were in the area looking for something to bring on a road trip, and we stumbled across this place. Ordered cookie butter latte with oat milk, horchata latte, 3 pan dulces, and 2 tamales (one red, one green). Lattes have 2 sizes, the small was more than enough. Immediate impression for taste was amazing. Loved the toppings on the cookie butter, balanced out the espresso taste. They were out of matcha today, but I'll make sure to be back to try it out! Pan dulce tasted fresh, soft, melted in your mouth. Definitely would recommend trying it if anything. Tamales were impressive. I didn't catch her name, but the girl helping us out recommended the verde tamal even when we were opposed to it at first. I appreciated her recommendation, it was amazing!! I'm so happy Hood Coffee finally has its own location! I've enjoyed Hood Coffee from the time they delivered, to their pop-ups, to their first and second stable locations, and now to their very own shop. Throughout the years, their coffee has always been delicious and refreshing--interesting to say about coffee, right? But it truly is! Their Horchata-Viet was my first drink of choice (obviously), but as a longtime customer, I've tried multiple other coffees, such as their Rose Latte, Mazapan, Mexican Mocha, etc. I have never been disappointed with any of my choices. After finding out they have a Yelp page, I wanted to make sure my feedback and opinion were out there for others to read. As I mentioned before, I've been a loyal customer for years, and like many others, I think we can all agree that we're thrilled they finally have their own location. Since they just opened, I don't expect a fully developed ambiance or a picture-perfect aesthetic. What they have going for them right now--their very cute panadería vibes--feels just right. Hood Coffee has always struck me as coffee for the people: their people, their family, their home. I truly believe both their coffee and their new location are perfect and represent that. I read some reviews mentioning rude customer service, long wait times, and the lack of hot drinks. Personally, I've never experienced rude customer service, nor have I ever witnessed a Hood Coffee cashier or barista being rude. Yes, wait times have increased, but honestly--what do people expect? Our favorite local coffee spot has blown up! It's no longer just our little secret; thousands of people have come to love it. So, just be patient! They're growing, and I'm happy for them. Surprised they don't serve hot drinks? Don't be. It's very clear they specialize in iced coffee. Just check their Instagram or review their menu--don't be a Karen about it. This is definitely the longest review I've ever written, but I wanted my feedback and opinion out there for others to read because I know many people feel the same way. I've been here twice and everything so far is delicious. We had the cookie butter latte iced with cold foam, the mazapán latte with cold foam, an ice latte with cold foam. All the coffees were delicious not overly sweet. We also tried the tamales rojos and verdes great taste as well as the Bolio with chorizo and beans every thing tasted like it was freshly made. I drove by heading west on Chapman and the word TAMALES caught my eyes. You must understand tamales are my and my ex husband's favorite food. So much so, that I learned to make them. So, we stopped for a late lunch and both had a delicious Pork Tamale and the Best Horcata (not overly sweet with a nice cinnamon flavor) ever. I like that the masa was not thick and the pork was tender, flavorful & slightly spicy. Just right. Muy bueno The owners are a friendly young couple. They said that they opened a month ago.
