Love Hood Famous for their ube and other cheesecakes and finally made it to their storefront in the International District before the Seahawks victory parade. The line was out the door waiting for their arroz caldo special. It was worth the wait. Inside had lots of room and a cozy seating area. We were tempted by the other food and drinks. We ended up ordering their longanisa quiche, mechado pastry, a bag of Ube cookies and a manila fog drink along with the arroz caldo. We left with happy tummies and sustenance to brave the millions of fans cheering on the Seahawks! Will definitely be back to try more stuff!
When you walk in to Hood Famous, there is an immediate sense of community - friends are gathered laughing, some are studying, others are savoring each bite of cheesecake. People seem glad to be there, and for good reason! The meticulously crafted drinks and treats, featuring classic southeast asian flavorings like pandan and ube, are just chefs kiss. As an absolute fiend for pandan, I loved the strong yet balanced pandan latte. The flavor shined through amazingly in the pandan cheesecake, too. The cafe is in Chinatown, conveniently located near the metro and other cute places to check out as a tourist. When I visited, I had just came from a flight but it wasn't too bad to get to. Overall, huuuge fan of Hood Famous. Definitely looking forward to coming back next time I'm in Seattle!
I always tell friends visiting Seattle that they should swing by Hood Famous, and while that still holds true, I as a local have stopped coming here. The price of food and drink is expensive for the small portions you get, and you can get the same quality pandan and ube drinks at a dozen other places that serve phin coffee for less. You can also just get the baked goods at Uwajimaya. What I really don't like about coming here are the judgmental stares from patrons and staff if you stay for more than 15-20 mins. Then my gut feeling was confirmed when I noticed the new sign - WiFi is not available on weekends. You're not allowed to even sit at the window booth on weekends because they need it as a waiting area. I get it, it can get crowded on weekends, but most people know to leave asap to make space. I have been there on weekends when it's only me and one other table, but 10 minutes in I already feel unwelcomed. Even if I come in on a quiet weekday and stare at the pillar, I feel like I overstayed my welcome. There really is no reason to be a frequent patron.
Came here as recommended by a Seattleite who is obsessed with their ube latte. Recommendation was definitely on point. I definitely enjoyed the Iced Ube Latte (sweet and not too milky) and also love their ube tarts. Also this place can be a great area to find a souvenir. They sell totes, pins, cook books, etc. Don't leave without trying their ube tarts!
As someone who hasn't had Filipino foods or desserts much, the baked goods here were pretty good! I got pandoodle cookies, bibingka cornbread muffin, and Biko. It definitely tasted freshly baked. The cafe seems pretty big with tables to work. When I arrived, the self-order kiosk wasn't working which was annoying but I ordered with a staff member which was fine.
Checking off the things saved on my collections list and this place fell somewhere in the middle of my "was it worth the drive" scale. The cafe was adorable, a lot of seating. The workers were nice enough. The Ube cheesecake I ordered was great! A tier under my favorite Ube cheesecake but delicious nonetheless. My only annoyance with this spot was the availability of some of their hot items. I came looking for some of the items I'd seen on other Yelp reviews to sit down and have breakfast but they were no where in sight when I arrived. It must've been specials they had at the time. I do wish that was indicated. I also wish their hot items menu was bigger. I believe there was only one thing available so I grabbed my cheesecake and had breakfast elsewhere.
Hood Famous Bakeshop offers some of the best Filipino dishes and desserts we have experienced! We especially recommend the ube cheesecake and the chicken arroz caldo (rice porridge). The service was warm and attentive, and the space is cozy, colorful, and thoughtfully decorated. Please note that only paid street parking is available in the area.
I came by on a weekday afternoon and the café had a steady amount of people coming in and out. It's a smaller, cute café and has tables and seating close together. I think it's a solid spot to work or study (wifi is available only on weekdays). For parking, I parked at the Uwajimaya parking lot and walked over. Super convenient if you're already in the area. I ordered their Ice Pandan Latte, which is one of their signature drinks. It was my first time trying, and I really liked it! It had a slight nutty and vanilla flavor and wasn't overly sweet. The staff was friendly and chill. The next time I visit, I'd like to try their bakery item or ube cheesecake!
This place is beautiful and has a good amount of seating. They have both a store/market type vibe and general cafe. Known for their ube items, I had to give those a try. I got their ube pandan soft serve swirl, and it was packed generously high. Between the two flavors, I think I liked the pandan more - maybe I am just not the biggest ube fan. The texture was pretty good though too, and it was big enough to share with a lot of people. I also tried some of my friend's ube latte which was pretty good as well, but not too much ube flavor. A solid spot!
What a beautiful space that represents Filipino culture well. I love their Sari Sari Store - they have a good selection of Filipino products and they carry items by small businesses and artists. I wanted to buy all their books! I came here after a heavy lunch so I just got a calamansi drink and a slice of buko pie to go. The buko pie was great! I did not like the calamansi drink as it had a bitter aftertaste; It is understandable though that they would not be the same as fresh calamansi from the Philippines. I'm giving them a 4 because I've had their other products before and have liked them. They are famous for their cheesecakes so make sure to try those. I'd love to try their other drinks next time. I'm also interested in getting their ube syrup and cookie dough. The service was great, they were very friendly. NOTE: There is a strong smell of vinegar in this cafe (We Filipinos love our vinegar) but don't let that stop you from checking this place out. Embrace the culture!

My cousins and I are always on the hunt for some good Filipino owned/inspired spots & had heard great things about this place, so we decided to check it out. This cafe is located in Seattle's China town, right off of their train stop. As soon as you walk in, you will notice their large pastry section, the full bar to the left & the items they have for purchase all around the store. From their pastries we tried the pandan cheesecake (3" circle cheesecake), buko pie (large slice w/ buko meat chunks), hotdog ensaymada, tocino pandesal sando (chicken tocino slider), and an order of hot pandesal (6 small pandesals that come with Ube butter). We ordered all of these items to share and were definitely stuffed by the end of this meal. For our drinks we had the calamansi espresso tonic (tasted like 7up lemon lime. I believe it was missing the shot of espresso, but was still delicious), Ube latte (purple yam), and pandan latte (young coconut). All of these drinks were so good, I almost bought their house simple syrups, so that I could attempt to make the lattes myself at home. As my souvenir, I picked up a couple enamel pins, a shot glass, and some stickers. So happy to see some Filipino representation up in Seattle! The place is small, but they definitely have plenty of delicious treats and drinks that are worth trying while visiting ID. My GF and I tried their corned beef quiche, Calamansi cheesecake, mochi waffles, Ube Macchiato, and Pandan Latte. Wow I've never seen this type of fusion before, but they make it work! The quiche and cheesecake are exactly what you'd expect flavor-wise. Fortunately they sell them in small pieces so it's not too overwhelming. The true winners were the mochi waffles and the drinks! Soft and chewy perfectly paired with fresh seasonal fruit and some calamansi syrup for that Filipino flare. The drinks were very tasty and not overly sweet since they are mixed with Ube and Pandan. Everything was so good and I can't wait to come back to try more of their desserts and drinks! read more
I wanted to patronize but baffled that none of the 3 workers when I came in and bought an Ube Latte and Americano spoke NOT a lick of Tagalog. What gives? They advertise as a Filipino (Pinoy) cafe but workers inside were a mixture of races, which I applaud but odd I thought that no Pinoy... Ok, now to the coffee or tea- the Americano was weak and no Splenda. The iced ube latte i had was descent but 16 oz was not since cup was filled with ice to the rim so after two sips it was over I couldn't really tell if it was good or bad. So, as much as I want to ride along with the good ratings on yelp currently I thought they should know actual experience I had. Most of my posts are well over due. We were in Seattle in August 22' What really drew me to Hood Famous was their brunch menu - but we were in town for comicon and met with some member of the cast and crew of the "LUMPIA movie" in the evening for a late night dinner and some drinks. So nice to support a Filipino owner business! The decor was very athletically pleasing - the vibe was casual and the service was excellent. Drink: Pakwan Punch and hood island - 5 stars Light dinner: Arroz Caldo and pork skewers - 4 Stars due to the portion size Dessert: we tried all 4 options: Vietnamese coffee ube, buko, white chocolate Guava cheesecake All were soooo good O-M-G! As a result, I appreciate Keon for going above and beyond to provide my friend and me with a wonderful experience! On a more logical note, our cheesecakes came out quickly after ordering and while this is a cafe rather than a restaurant, I appreciated being checked up on. It's definitely a different experience compared to other bakeries and cafes I've been to. a t m o s p h e r e: 4/5 This location used to be half the size, but the renovations really open up the space and I would presume, allowed more people to dine in and experience this precious gem in International District. My friend and I drove around for like 10 minutes before we found parking. I believe in this area, there's only paid parking. I know Uwajimaya has a parking lot that you either pay or can validate your parking. Went here 5 yrs ago and had their longganisa and ampalaya quiche and it was sooo good, I still think about it to this day. Came back and was saddened to found out they're gone from the menu. Tried the lumpia quiche this time around and it was the best egg dish I've ever had. Highly recommend the pandan cheesecake, it was soo delectable and not too sweet (the ultimate Asian dessert compliment). I wish they'd open other locations in California. read more

Honestly. Not a fan. Cookies were jus ok. Coffee was not very good. Ube syrup makes the coffee look cool, but doesn't taste too good. Ube cheesecake jus tasted like cheesecake, nothing really ube about it.. I just thought it was a waste of my time. read more
I actually got upset when I woke up on Sunday and drove to get an Ube latte, all to find out there not open Sundays. I've had their cookies, pie, cheese cake, ice cream, coffee, and simple syrup ( so I can get my fix on Sunday.). Everything here is good or great. The Ube latte is godlike, however. read more

Really enjoyed the vibe of this cafe and thought it was interesting that they had a bar as well, which is where we picked up our drinks. I have been to Hood Famous twice and both times it was delicious. I have tried their cheesecake selection which was epically delicious. The ube cheesecake was my absolute favorite. My son loves their brown butter chocolate chip cookies and the famous buko pie is absolutely delicious and creamy and decadent. The first time I visited it was still just a small sliver but they have since taken over the space next door and now have seating where you can enjoy your coffee and have a pastry. I have had the pandem latte both iced and cold and it definitely feels like it's more flavorful hot. But the coffee is top notch. Love you guys! Keep up the great work. read more
Got the 4-pack of mini (4 oz) cheesecakes (pandas coconut, white chocolate guava, ube, Vietnamese coffee) - amazing. All the flavors were great and the textures were so smooth and creamy. Presentation was also very nice. They are definitely a little pricier- four 4-oz cheesecakes for $28 - though it is a pretty unique dessert. Amazing!! Stopped by after a grocery run at Uwajimaya - During Covid I believe they open for in store purchases at 11am (with online ordering / appointments available earlier). Everything looked so tasty but reined it in and got an ube latte + ensaymada. The cafe is small but they asked other customers to wait outside until we were done with our order. Have not seen another Filipino inspired cafe but wish there were more -- loved their flavors and style: my latte was smooth with an almost cocoa-y/ube flavor that I loved and the ensaymada was the perfect mix of sweet and savory! Will definitely come back next time I'm in Seattle and try more of their baked goods! read more
5 stars even for the beef pastry alone, it was soooooo flavorful and flaky and delicious. It was a perfect savory pastry. At first I was mad it was $10 (I'm coming from the Midwest/East Coast), but then I tasted it and I couldn't be mad anymore. The lavender honey latte was also yummy. I haven't even tried the ube cheesecake yet, but had to leave a review for the beef pastry alone. Def recommend for a solid snack or lil meal! read more
This is a fantastic place for great coffee and amazing food options. I loved the ambience here and the staff is super friendly. We grabbed a spot in front of the Barista so we could watch them make different coffees while we had our coffee and food. We tried Chicken Arroz Caldo, Breakfast sandwich, Chicken Adobo with garlic rice and Ub cheesecake. Chicken Arroz Caldo was my favorite dish here. Their pandan coffee is really good too, you might wanna try something else or an espresso if you are looking for something strong. read more

Dropped by from my friend's recommendation. Cute filipino cafe, heard they turn into a bar at night!! The interior is super adorable! Was able to find a charger port by the window. The baked goods are on the right and the coffee/drinks on the left. I ordered the ube cookie, guava cheesecake, and pandan latte. Tip: if you go to the cashier, they have day-old cookies for sale for 50% off. I ordered the regular first and after I realized, asked for a swap. They were super nice and were fine with it. Guava cheesecake: 5/5 So thick and creamy and the guava flavor was so amazing. The type that makes you want to eat the smallest bites possible so it lasts all the longer. I thought it was def. worth the $8, which I was hesitant of first. Pandan latte: 4/5 It was a very good latte, but I didn't really catch the pandan coming through. Also expected it to be more green, considering most pandan desserts are such. A misconception on my part perhaps. But pandan wistful aside, still an amazing coffee for a Friday morning after a 15 minute walk. Haven't gotten to try the ube cookies yet, but super excited to try later. The staff is polite, coffee is amazing and the filipino (inspired) deserts were all such a delight. The aesthetic is gorgeous on the inside. I really liked all the Filipino artists and stuff they were advertising and supporting inside as well. Definitely adding to my list of must visits for Seattle! I love supporting me peeps!!! 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Cute ambiance, good for working or for a quick coffee stop. They offer a variety of pastries including ube cookies and cheesecakes. We opted for a couple of day-old ube cookies - a great morning treat and only a dollar each! Ube cheesecake had very little ube flavor, but good as a normal cheesecake. Drinks: Matcha ube had a strong ube flavor and a great pick me up. Ube latte had a more subtle flavor, and sadly did not get a caffeine kick from this drink, even with the double shot. I'd come back for the pastries, but would find somewhere else if I'm looking for a strong coffee. read more

Always loved coming here to do some quick work and catch up with a friend. It does get extremely busy on the weekends around lunch hour but the mornings are calmer! Loved both their pandan latte and my friend really enjoyed their ube latte. Would definitely recommend their ube cookies as well! read more

- came at 2:30 pm and there was seating available - lot of natural light coming in to the cafe, great spot for studying or catching up with a friend - well decorated and set up - required vaccine card to dine in and everyone had their masks on - i got the ube cookie and hojicha tea latte! - cookie was chewy and ube flavor was just right. it wasn't overly sweet which i appreciated - the tea latte was good, and hit the spot on a cloudy day - would recommend going here if you are looking for a nice spot to sit at for a while! read more

This place has been on my list for a long time now and it did not disappoint. I was tempted to try their ube latte since this was the first place I saw that carried it and their ube cheesecake! I loved it. The ambiance is so cool. I came here for a meeting and was cute but got really loud around lunch time. I loved the customers and the overall vibe of the place, definitely a welcoming cafe and friendly staff. read more
Haven't been here since they expanded their existing space! Cheesecake? A true delight as always and glad I had friends to share so I didn't devour the entire thing to myself. Drinks? Some are great but the ube daiquiri did not sit right on the day we went - something about the flavors seemed really off. I've had it before and don't remember it tasting so strange. Ube is usually my go-to flavor so it definitely wasn't me not liking ube flavor. I really like they still check the Covid vaccine proof even in July 2022 - they're also servicing order and pay by phone which is also handy. It's also pretty easy to split the bills with your friends with this feature. My only comment is that I wish they had more shareable snacks as the cocktails make you feel peckish. read more

Really good Filipino desserts/snacks! Tried their ube cheese cake and it was super creamy with a strong (but not fake) ube flavor. It was not huge but still can be shared with 2-3 people because it is a heavy cheesecake. I definitely want to try out their other desserts! read more
Be prepared to be blown away by their delicious drinks! If you're a first timer, get the ube latte, it's truly unlike anything I've ever had before! The mocha my husband got was also delicious but my drink was our favorite by far. The staff was super friendly and patient with us as it was our first time there. I also love their location, they're right next to the famous entrance to Chinatown in the international district! The interior is also beautiful and very PNW coded; they have beautiful greenery everywhere and it's industrial chic in its decor. read more

4.5 stars! Love this place! Filipino fusion with coffee bar. I go usually for their coffee with beans from Fulcrum roastery. Beans are sourced from the Phillipines and all over south east asia. I am partial to the single origin ones from the Phillipines but honestly they are all good. If you buy a bag of whole beans you get a free cup of coffee which is nice! The snacks they offer are a creative fusion of filipino flavors. Mini purple ube cheesecakes which made them famous are available along with other flavors. I came here during the later hours so I couldn't try their coffee, but I was able to get some of their desserts. We got the pan de sal, ube cheesecake, buko pie, and the calamansi tea. Pan de sal - 3.5/5 I really liked the taste of the outside of the pan de sal. It reminds me of my childhood with the crusted and grainy exterior. The inside was a little too doughy though. I think the dough should have risen a little more before baking. Ideally it should be fluffy in the inside with a slight chew. Overall I would get it again though and I still recommend it. Ube cheesecake -5/5 Yummy! Not too sweet and the ube is the star of the show here. It was not overpowered by another ingredient which I appreciated. The texture is just like a classic cheesecake and it was neither too dense nor too soft. Just right and a great way to satisfy those who want something sweet but aren't the typical sweet tooth. Buko pie -4.5/5 I am actually not a coconut fan but this was executed well. The dough was rich and buttery and the coconut wasn't too strong. It was kinda pricey though Calamansi tea- 4/5 A little tangy but still refreshing Service -5/5 Super friendly waiters here who were accommodating and helpful throughout. It's cute, but seating is not too much and not super comfortable. We got hot Ube latte, Pandan latte, Biko, Guava Cheesecake, Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. The lattes were tbh not that great. The flavors felt a bit muddled. Biko was not fresh and reflected in the texture. Guava cheesecake was very good and fluffy. Chocolate chip was good, but was just a regular chocolate chip cookie. Hood Famous Cafe was on our cafe list to visit! Upon entering the cafe, we loved the interior design. I ordered an Ube cheesecake & Ube Latte (hot & less sweet). The Ube Cheesecake tasted really good.. but the Ube latte was a bit disappointing. The latte was still too sweet for me and lack a good balance of ube/oat milk. So happy to find an Ube speciality café in the heart of Chinatown in Seattle! Walking in the interior is so cute, the right side is where you can find the pastries and can also order drinks. The left side is the coffee/drink bar where you can see drinks being made and can also place orders there. Of the Ube pastries I tried including their Ube cookies and Ube cheesecake, the cheesecake was by far the best. I even prefer it more than a general cheesecake without Ube. I wish I ordered the larger cheesecake cause I couldn't get enough of it. Also, the ube lattés are not only beautifully aesthetic when they are first made (you can see the espresso, ube syrup, and milk layers) but when mixing the layers all together it tastes amazing - ube naturally will make the drink sweet so if you're not a sweet coffee person then you may want to try a different latté on the menu or the baristas may be able to adjust your drink to be less sweet. Can't wait to come back and get my ube fix! read more
stopped in for a treat to go along with my regular afternoon cortado on a wednesday, and it was poppin. all the tables were full of folks working and catching up, with colorful purple and pink coffee drinks. i'm not a huge sweet coffee fan, so i forewent that option, but they looked great. and for what it's worth that cortado was absolutely amazing, especially for a place that really is shining for its baked goods. lots of great coffee options to buy, too, as well as pantry items and fun stuff on the shelves. a feast for the eyes while you're waiting, and they have lovely pothos draping over every rafter again, as a small-sweet-tooth-haver i opted for something less sweet, the biko. the texture was absolutely luscious. it's creamy and soft and yet holds its own as you bite. at first i thought it was going to be a huge mess to eat while on the go, but it was perfectly gooey yet stuck together. great flavor. grabbed a coconut pandan cheesecake to sneak into the movies tonight, and i can't wait to try it. super awesome to see seattle fostering so many POC bakeries that truly do offer things you can't find anywhere else. hood famous does a damn great job, and i'll be back to try other stuff, too. i've had their ube cookies before, and they're just great. the service was also great! read more

Is this a good space to work?
They have free wifi, so perhaps during the day on weekdays when they are the least busy. However, during the times I've visited, lots of people come in to get drinks and stay to chat, so not the quietest environment.
How is parking here?
street parking--usually able to find some in walking distance!
Will you ship out of state to Arizona?
they ship the cookies and select merchandise from there website
If I'm planning to buy the 4 mini cheesecakes and I plan on trying ube and matcha for sure, what should my other two mini cheesecakes be?
The mango is a classic! I also recommend one of the seasonal flavors (since they switch out pretty often)
Any plans for vegan options?
not that I know of food wise you may have to ask them directly. They do have Hemp, Almond and Soy milk for alternative milks so you would be able to get a vegan latte at least.
Do they carry the mini Ube tarts at this location?
I don't think so I haven't seen them there yet, and I'm there at least once a week.
