I'm a fan of this place. The atmosphere was great and played really good music also. I'm a huge fan of hookah bars and the shisha here is ranked with the best of them. The flavor and texture was amazing, while also producing some really good smoke clouds. There are plenty of seats for you to bring a group along with lots of tv's, and it's byob until midnight. There are many options to choose from, such as ice, mild or even red bull. Unfortunately, this is also where this place lacks, and the reason for my 4 stars. First time fun! Came here the other night for a Monday /girls night hang out. Wasn't sure what to expect but we know it's BYOB and we both wanted to try the hookah. Spent a good 4 hours plus!! Place is simple: couches and small parking lot behind ala moana. Parking was full and I ended up parking at ala moana but later found a spot. It was mellow. BYOB: they provide things in cans and cups. No ice though. And the place was super warm!! Like almost a sauna warm. I'm sure all the smokes didn't help. Keith was our hookah server/hookup. In the beginning we didn't quite enjoy it ( kept coughing with every puff) but later we got the ice house and it made it better. Way smoother. First flavor was tried was guava, pineapple and lilikoi I believe. It was good. Lasted us a while. A good two hours. Second one we had was STP. This we could've skipped. I don't smoke anything and this hit me hard. Like put me to bed hard. And almost fell asleep going all the way back home to Hawaii Kai!! Definitely needed water and ice in drinks. Our bill came out to around $100 with tips. Kind of pricey! But I don't know how much hookah run so I can't compare it to anything. Overall, it's a fun spot. Music was nice. It was more expensive than expected but that's just me. I'm sure it's great if you're a fan/ know how!! You can have up to 5 people per hookah. Bring your alcohol, ice and friends!! A friend told me about Hookahookah which is located just across the street from Ala Moana Shopping Center with the entrance on Kona Street. Having served in Iraq, I'm very familiar hookah and even have my own hookah with four pipes and everything but I keep it neatly wrapped up for a hookah party sometime in my home. Honestly, because I like things very neat, it's quite a chore to take it out set it up use it and then clean it and put it away. So going to a hookah shop is quite a luxury. The owner, Mike explained everything to us and demonstrated techniques that I was not familiar with like having ice at the end of the pipe. I like to put ice cubes in my water. Hookahookah is BYOB and bring your own food so it can be a very chill place to hang out with friends. Some of the seating is not especially comfortable. The outdoor seating basically faces the parking lot and dumpsters so it's just not a great view. Inside there are TVs with closed captioning but I wish it had something more in line with the hooka atmosphere. It was a good experience and it makes me want to host my own hookah party in my home sometime soon. read more

With Hawaii's oppressive anti-smoking laws, it's a miracle this place exists. I'm thrilled to have a convenient hookah lounge nearby, but even more so since this place is clean, comfortable, and a good value with a large selection. Look no further than Hookahookah, it's really the only place worth coming to! The bar is located along Kona St. under Ala Moana Center. There is tons of parking around, with a small free lot right outside the doors. The bar is kept dark and clean to aid in the relaxed mood the hookah provides. Music is eclectic and fun, but always kept at a volume conducive to talking with friends. There is tons of seating- booths, sofas, chairs. It really doesn't matter how big your party is, they should be able to accommodate. Importantly, the bar is clean, as are the hookahs. Nozzle tips are provided for each person. The door is usually kept open and ventilation is good to keep the smoke and air as fresh as possible. A bathroom is available, but it's only a single unisex, which can lead to lines. The menu is very long, which special flavors offered. Feel free to mix and match as well. Pricing is reasonable for the demand of Honolulu, but is not a cheap activity. Each bowl of tobacco costs a fixed amount plus essentially a sitting fee charged by the hour. As is customary, no alcohol is available, but soft drinks and teas are offered in abundance. If you're looking for a night out with friends away from the loud clubs and divey bars, this is the place to come. read more

It's been a while since I've done hookah. The last memory I had was being down in soho near Chinatown at a friends birthday party. I was pretty stoked to find this place on yelp. My friend and I headed over after boot camp around 7pm. It did not have the most attractive appearance on the outside, but you never judge a book by its cover;). Once we walked in, we saw that it looked empty with just two other people enjoying theirs. We were greeted by one of the employees and were told that we could sit wherever we liked. We glanced around and became fixated on these chairs that looked like leather. They did feel like heaven once we sat in them. He explained that there were flavored tobaccos that we could choose to smoke. We chose the passion fruit mojito which was lovely, and a lot of fun! What I love about this place is that it is BYOB and food. What place can you actually do that in a setting like this. It is a dark dim lighted lounge with couches, and chairs next to several other hookah stations. By the register there is drinks and chips for purchase. On my second visit at this lounge, I ran into an old friend. So I decided to join him for some Hookah! It's a great place to just relax, unwind and enjoy your friends. It's BYOB, so walk across the street to 7-11 and pick up a six-pack. This place has lots of flavors. A LOT! You can even mix your flavors and creat your own unique taste. I think I remember, asking the server (I don't know what you call a hookah server... hooker? Idk) get me something good. She brought blueberry flavor, said it's the most popular. Two of our friends forgot their IDs and the employee literally said for us to go back to the hotel or give him $200 and that going to the hotel would probably be cheaper, acting extremely degrading and disrespectful. Went here for the first time today, and it was also my first time trying hookah. (I vape occasionally, but no cigarettes haha.) Very chill atmosphere with relaxing music playing. I hear it's ridiculously busy on the weekend, but I got here a little after 5 on a weekday, and there's only two other groups here. Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially since my friends and I were clueless as to how everything works. I tried the White Peach and Strawberry Margarita with the ice hose, and both were so delicious! They have disposable mouthpieces for everyone, which I really liked. Staff checked with us frequently to make sure the hookah was smoking well, and even showed us how to clear out the pipe and move the coals around. If you come here with at least a few friends, it's honestly not that expensive. Really good place to just unwind. Based on what the staff said, I wouldn't want to come here on the weekend, so if you want a quieter setting, definitely come here during the week. Funny story is that me and my friends walked from Waikiki beach all the way to the Ala Moana mall where this place used to be located.. As that's what Yelp and maps showed and we didn't think it would be THAT bad of a walk. Lol well once we finally got to Ala Moana mall.. We were like.. So.. Where is it?! And I called them and told me they had relocated over to Piikoi Street (?) so we kept walking until we found the place.. I guess the walk was worth cuz we got to hatch a shit load of Pokemon lol. Anyway, after that time me and my friend kept coming every night we could during our vacation (except we would Uber instead of walking) the place is really appealing and the staff is super chill. Wow, a really interesting experience! Four of us had a groupon and thought we would give it a whirl. We had one hour but I knew we would want one more to hang a bit longer. We sat at 2 empty couches with our hookah and small table between us. Plenty of pillows, low light and a steady soundtrack that was like a loop of Drake and Post Malone gave it all a cool vibe. After our host connected the extra but worth it ice hose to our hookah, added the cube of coconut based charcoal with our choice of flavor (we did mango/melon) and torched us up. We were all newbies so a bit of choking prior to slowing our draw and relaxing. Be forewarned that the session provides about 1.7 times more nicotine than cigarettes so you will get dizzy. We ordered food from their mostly Middle Eastern cuisine and loaded up on delicious hummus, cucumber dip, shawerma, dolmas, pita and incredible naan- Just like yaya used to make! The food took awhile but was so worth it. You can and should bring something to drink with your own cups, or run across the street to 7-11 or Daiso (don't get stuck in there, it's incredible). There are soft drinks available and small kine snacks too. But their food was authentic, hot and fresh. It obviously gets incredibly smoky so be prepared that you and your clothes will come out smelling like the Golden Nugget slot section! Altogether a fun experience but about 3/4 of the way in, the nicotine hit me pretty hard and I had to sit out the remainder of our session. So word to the wise- bring something to drink/cups, order food as soon as possible, chill out on your couch and whatever you do, do not touch your hookah, move it or try to light it, there is an outlandish fee of $200-300 so resist any temptation to fuss with it. It was fairly slow when we went on a week night, but the owner, Mike, and the staff made sure to take time and chat with us. Mike is so personable and hospitable. He made sure our hookah hit perfectly to our liking. In comparison to The Burning Tree (also located in Honolulu), it is far more enjoyable and hookah quality is better. Prices are slightly more steep, at 15 an hour + 10 per bowl, it is absolutely worth it. Outside: Given that I showed up on a Tuesday night it wasn't that hard to find parking but, I can see it being annoying on a weekend. They have a small parking area in the back that you can pay to park. It's a $3 flat rate. There are double slotted spots (one car in front of the other) but it's unauthorized parking you can only park in the single ones. Inside: Cool and chill environment. They had good music playing in the background with sports playing in the projector. It's very spacious inside easy to accommodate large groups. They do not serve food or alcohol but they are working on their liquor license and should be serving in about two weeks. Right not it is bring your own alcohol which is super convenient. If you forgot some no worries there is a 7-11 in walking distance. There also is NO bottle fee. Customer Service: The staff here is very nice. They were very attentive and always had new coals for the hookah. The host recommended us to try white gummy bear hookah and it was surprisingly good. Cleanliness: Overall very clean in the inside. No issues with the seating or hookah itself. The female restroom was kinda dirty, it looked like the toilet hadn't been whipped down in awhile. Price: kinda expensive for hookah if you're looking for a cheap date. But if you're with a group of 4 then it's not bad at all. Moving to Hawaii I was a little scared that know one knew what hookah was. I did a little research and found hookahookah. This was their old location, which I miss, but happy they upgraded. Give them a break if it's busy. The ambiance is great and very spacious. You may have to sit with other people or groups depending on how busy they are. Having experienced Hookahookah at the old Ala Moana Center location, it was comforting to know they had opened a new hookah lounge on the corner of Piikoi and Young St. The old location had little to no parking during their busy nights and it was often. Now they're at an even larger space with ample parking paid lot ($3 at night) immediately behind the building. Hookahhookah share the same owner as Bar Koko & Persian Restaurant on the same building with unit divides. After having dinner at Bar Koko, the entrance on the back unit immediately made it a breeze to crossover to the hookah lounge. Otherwise the main entrance is on Piikoi St. After dinner with friends we decided to relax a bit at Hookahhookah lounge. The vicinity is definitely larger than the old location with newly built lounge chairs, along numerous pillows and cushions making this a nice euphoric experience. The ceiling is immensely high with large windows through an array of people in their happy place. The aesthetic is of a dark space with lots of room to lounge and relax with a party of friends. A large screen TV displays a better selection of things compared to their Bar Koko screen. A few unique lamps gives a sweet ambiance to the culture. Wafts of a variety of devoured flavors evaporate into the air. We approached the front counter and we were promptly seated. It's a simple process, $15 per hour/per hookah, $10 a bowl. Flavors are overwhelmingly plenty with nearly 60 to choose from. I would recommend asking the person taking your order on how they individually taste. With all the other flavors previously tried, I like the Double Apple. It's true to the name and it simply fruity. Everyone is given their own disposable plastic mouth pieces to inhale with keeping everything sanitary. The equipment and water is cleaned after every use. They have house rules, and I recommend reading them. The people working are great in maintaining the charcoal change for they become difficult to inhale throughout the many uses. I also highly recommend having a bottle of water or a drink with your hookah just incase your throat gets dry after smoking a while. They have a variety of beverages to choose from. If coming here with a larger party, they will limit each hookah to 5 people. Any additional person will be $5 each/per hour whether smoking or not. Checks will only be split 3 ways otherwise if a credit card gets charged under $20, there will be a $2 fee. Bathrooms are available and are clean but one stall only for both men and women. The employees act clueless, and only try to get you to spend money without receiving the services you pay for. This is an ok hookah spot . It's a nice hangout that stays open until 2am if you can handle the dense smoke. The seating arrangements were sort of weird as we were seated on one long booth with another party right beside us in the same booth. We were all basically staring into each other's faces which is weird and doesn't give me enough personal space personally. The hookah is $20 per hour and you can combine up to 3 flavors. The menu is all Mediterranean with very limited options so if that's not your thing you may want to eat before hand. They don't sell alcohol but you can byob and pay a corkage fee.
