I try to get breakfast here every year while on vacation. lots of fun pancake options. a recent favorite of mine are the raspberry chocolate chip ones. it's also nice that most pancakes can be made gluten free. creamed chipped beef is delicious too. restaurant interior is cute and service is friendly. try to get there early as it gets busy! read more

I enjoyed my pancakes and my waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by my home fries. They were more like unseasoned potato slices. I expect home fries to be well seasoned, crispy and cubes. These were none of those.The home fries at Ready's are much better. read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and when I'm on vacation, I seek out new breakfast experiences. When a restaurant focuses on breakfast, I intrigued! I found Hooked on Breakfast through Yelp and. I visited two days in row, it was that good! I had an Italian omelette (hearty and savory with a delicious tomato gravy) the first day and lemon blueberry pancakes (light, fluffy and sweet) the second day. If I lived closer, I'd make a point to visit for each of their monthly specials! Others in my party had lemon French toast, Taylor Pork Roll omelette, and scrambled eggs with bacon. The coffee was also delicious...I took some to go! The online check in (call ahead) makes it very easy to determine wait time and plan accordingly. The service was friendly and efficient. I visited on beautifully sunny, warm days and was able to eat outside. I highly recommend adding Hooked on Breakfast to your Jersey Shore breakfast list! read more

My girlfriend and I came the Sunday before Memorial Day so understandably the wait was around an hour but it turned out to be a minor issue with the many shops and storefronts along Asbury Ave (the road Hooked is on). Once we were seated we were happily greeted to the friendly staff and ordered. I got the Up In Smoke breakfast sandwich with no cheddar cheese (I'm sorry) and two scrambled eggs on the side. My girlfriend got chocolate chip pancakes and two scrambled eggs on the side as well. The Up In Smoke consisted of homemade sliced smoked turkey, sliced ham, and bacon (it would also include melted cheddar cheese) in grilled egg dipped bread. The sandwich came out like a club sandwich with a third piece of bread loaded in the middle of the sandwich. The bread was very reminiscent to French toast without the sweetness. Quite enjoyable. I ended up taking out the third piece of bread just because I would rather have a piece of "French toast" on the side rather than an amidst the sandwich. Two was more than enough. I combined my scrambled egg with the sandwich and honestly could've gone sunny side up for a more interactive experience. Despite this, the sandwich was quite tasty and very filling! The meat itself was pretty similar to grilled deli meat, but I assume the texture would be more pleasing with melted cheese as it was a little dry. Overall not bad by any means, it was quite good and satiating. There was room for improvement though. My girlfriend's pancakes came out wonderfully. She ate the whole meal quite quickly and was very satisfied afterwards. I shared a bite and can agree that the chocolate chips offered a great amount of sweetness along with the fluffiness of the pancakes. They were delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the scrambled eggs, and the sandwich was around a 6-7/10 but I don't think it is particularly this cafe's specialty. I am very intrigued by the range of pancakes, French toast, and waffles Hooked has to offer and would be more than willing to come back and try one of those items out. I think I didn't get the ultimate experience I desired from this place, but I'm sure my girlfriend would disagree. I think if I were to return and choose in accordance with their carb dishes, I would be more than happy. I'm looking forward to coming back and recommend that any pancake lovers give this place a try! read more

My husband and I were excited to try a new breakfast place during our visit to Ocean City. We were disappointed though in our experience, especially after reading such great reviews. The food was good, nothing I'd rave over, but the service was subpar. I should note we were seated after the breakfast rush and before the lunch rush so they were not extremely busy. When we were seated, our waitress took a good 5-10 minutes before greeting us. The table next to us sat a few minutes after us but was greeted right away by their waitress. We ordered as soon as our waitress arrived and the food came out pretty quickly. One of the things we ordered was a waffle with whipped cream. However, the waffle arrived with no whipped cream. Neither of us realized this until after our waitress left. Our waitress never came back to check on us and we ended up having to ask a different waitress to bring out some whipped cream. Our waitress did not reappear until she brought out the check. When I went inside to pay for the meal, two servers pushed their way passed me to get outside instead of letting me in first (which I thought was a little rude). Overall, our experience left a bad taste in my mouth and we will stick to our normal breakfast spots in the future. read more

Wow!!! My wife, son and I had breakfast this morning at HOB and we were extremely pleased with the entire experience. Our server (Hannah), the owner and the staff couldn't have been more friendly, pleasant and accommodating. They were dressed really "cool" in their branded shirts and face masks. You can tell the owners spent some time designing the look and feel of the place. Even though we had to eat outside in the heat they did everything to make us comfortable. As for the food....A+! Waffles, bacon, omelettes, hash browns and iced tea all done to our liking. The waffle melted in my mouth and the blueberries were definitely from New Jersey....plump and juicy. We can't think of anything that would have made our trip to HOB any more pleasant. Finally, we had a chance to speak with one of the owners and she was so nice to us. Keep up the great work. I got the breakfast sandwich, and I must say, it is not easy to make a breakfast sandwich stand out from other breakfast sandwiches. It's a very simple dish. This sandwich, for whatever reason, tasted noticeably fresh and was on a FANTASTIC homeade roll. Maybe it was the roll that made it for me but the whole thing was exceptional! This place is family owned as well and they really interact with you. Our interaction was very friendly and left us feeling very happy about our experience! I highly recomend this place for the breakfast sandwich and look forward to trying more menu items! Note to Owners: If possible, I'd love to try a whole wheat version of the roll.. gotta keep this gut in check during beach season read more

After a long night, and then a quick start to an early morning, this was a perfect place to grab some breky. From start to finish it was a pleasant experience! First we called ahead to hold a table, giving in my phone number not thinking anything of it. I received a text when our table was ready and it said that the table will be held for 5 more min, if you don't show up it will be given to the next party. (Realized why I gave in my phone number and I love the system) Our fault, we were about 5-8 min late, not 10 but not quite 4. Anyway, I half expected our table to be given to another party, however they got us seated right away. No problems here... We sat down in some intense sun and we couldn't really handle it much longer, before ordering we asked if we could move inside or into some shade. They were seemingly busy yet still had time to stop what they were doing and move around stuff for us to sit in the shade. Ahhh much better. The service was amazing! They even warned us about a long wait for eggs bc they were short staffed, yet they came out so quickly. We sat outside but from what my friends tell me the inside atmosphere was also nice. Huge menue!! I had peanut butter chocolate chip pancakes that were fluffy, crispy on the edges, and not too over done with toppings! Everyone else's food looked great, no complaints. The prettiest dish was my friend's build your own omlet. (Or the only dish undisturbed enough for a pic) The prices were great!! Things to change: More umbrellas!! I got orange juice that was not freshly squeezed, which seemed like unshaken Tropicana, in quite a small glass. ( To be fair the server did say the fresh squeezed was delicious and she tried her best to get me quality juice, I was just being cheep) To fix this, I would either provide a bigger glass of the lower quality stuff or just not serve two kinds of orange juice--seemed wierd. Friend tells me the home fries (also in the pic) were "meh". All in all, this is exactly what we were looking for. And again, the price was well worth what we received!! read more

We were in Ocean City today and decided to have breakfast. Not knowing the area my wife looked up places and this place had a good rating. The place was nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. Menu had some nice selections and there was about 8 specials of the day or week, not sure. Cheese of the week is Fontina. I had 2 problems: 1) Although the specials menu clearly stated no substitutions, the main menu did not. When I attempted to order the Brighton omelette, I wanted to change the cheese because I don't care for Gruyère. I was told the chef doesn't like to make changes. I pointed out that although the specials menu had a no substitution policy, the main menu did not. The waitress tried to get me to order my omelette as a build your own. I just chose the Jersey omelette. 2) The omelette came and the first bite was cold. It was the edge so I took a bite from the center area and that was just warm. Would have sent it back but if you can't ask the chef to change the cheese, how would he react if I sent his food back. On the good side, the potatoes are odd but good (they were very hot). Cut like a thick chip and deep fried to make the edges crispy but still soft in center. Wheat bread was thick and looked as if it came from a bakery or baked on premises. Could have used more butter, first portion had a smidgen on it. What ever happened to jelly being offered with toast. Used to be the norm but now most places you have to ask (sometimes beg) for it. I didn't ask, did want to be told it qualifies as a substitution. Waitress never offered refills on our drinks but was very nice and competent. Wife said her food was fine. Had a bite of her omelette 20 mins after she got it and it was the temperature of how I got mine originally. Not sure if we'll go back if in the area again. Many other places to try. Good luck and don't ask to substitute. read more
