    Walleye and French fries.
    Kathy D.

Salad came with two slices of onion and 1 cherry tomato well after trying the fish. My blue gills were over cooked and tasted old and chewy. My husband's walleye pretty small pieces. His steak fries under cooked. Some one else at our table had the cod tasted old and like it had been in the freezer too long. No water was offered. All drinks come in a canning jar. Wine just doesn't taste good from a canning jar. Will not be back sorry.

So the breakfast was just ok. I really was not excited to go here because they basically have 2 options. I wish they would expand if more. And other than the eggs and bacon you could definitely tell all the food was leftovers from the past few days. I like that they don't want to waste food. But everything just seemed dry. The staff was nice. The bloodys were decent although I've had better elsewhere. Not bad overall.

We liked the virgin Bloody Mary with the beef stick, cheddar, and pickle. It was seasoned perfectly and had a little bite to it. The onion rings were nice and crispy and delicious. The view of the Wisconsin River at the back was gorgeous. There is a juke box that we all enjoyed and pool tables and cool decor like the canoe and boat table and hanging moose. Service was very slow and the lady at the bar was not friendly.

It's so beautiful here but the bartender is not very personable or friendly. Get a better bartender and I'd put 5 stars. Otherwise love the place.

Sunday Morning Eye Opener Bloody Mary

Looking for a casual dining spot with great bar food, good drinks and a great view of the river? Hooker's Resort is just the spot. The Special consists of steak tips, grilled onions and mushrooms with cheese, served on a hunk of French bread with fries on the side for $1 more. Yum. Their burgers are creative, including a pizza burger, a Squealer, topped with ham and bacon, and even the Eye Opener, topped with a fried egg. But the best deal at Hooker's is the Sunday Morning Eye Opener breakfast--scrambled eggs, steak tips, fried potatoes and onions with bacon and garlic toast for just $8.95--including a great Bloody Mary! They also have a "grill it yourself" steak restaurant, but I just don't see the point of that so I've never been. Hooker's also boasts a small dock for boating up--and also a nice fishing spot! Look no further for a great spot on the Wisconsin River!

Needs facelift, filet is not filet, but tenderloin disguised. Service fine. Fairly disappointed, great location and nice size.

They have big leather swivel chairs that are actually comfy. The bar was very lively on a weekday at 4 pm. Watermelon mojito was one of the best I've ever had , followed it up with a great espresso martini. Ordered the fried clams appetizer which was good but many pieces were so small and thin that they seemed pure batter and no clam. The escargo was covered in a mexi-cheese blend that I found strange at first but tastes delicious- just more like Wisconsin escargo then French . They came with delicious crispy bread bites that we soaked up all the extra cheese and juices. Broccoli cheddar soup was the best I've ever had and absolutely loved the steak medallions with onions and dude of sauce . Steak was perfectly cooked. I loved this place and can't wait to come back

The original bar is in the old darker section - more traditional for a supper club.. We stopped there for some old fashions before dinner - they were solid. Service was very good. We ordered our meals after some tough decision making after snacking on their very tasty warm rolls. I tried their special of crabbed stuff shrimp. Five large shrimp that were very good with a baked potato on the side. My wife got the encrusted salmon and was surprised that it was encrusted in a bread crumb cheese mixture. She really enjoyed it. Our friends got the chicken with pasta and the walleye - two thumbs up. We decided to try their ice cream drinks for dessert. One pink squirrel and one brandy Alexander. Both were good but we have had better and bigger versions at other supper clubs. Prices were typical for a supper club - not cheap.

Thankfully, I had already pinpointed as somewhere I wanted to go. The vibe was absolutely excellent .. a dark bar is my happy place so I was pretty thrilled. I had an excellent steak sandwich with a baked potato on the side and was very happy that I had found something to eat at such a late hour. Food was delicious, would definitely recommend. After waiting to be seated, we waited nearly another 20 minutes before our waitress came over. I can understand getting behind, but this pattern continued all night. Our appetizers (escargot) and then food both took forever to come out, and the waitress rarely checked on our table. We nearly got up to leave before the appetizer arrived (which I've never done before). To top it off, the steak sandwich was mediocre and overcook, and my friend's steak was also unimpressive. Still giving this review 2 stars since the atmosphere is neat and our escargot was tasty and buttery, but I doubt I'll be coming back to the Tornado Room.

The asparagus was okay, again no salt or pepper here. My boyfriends steak tasted much better. The garlic mashed potatoes are also good. We ordered a bourbon old fashioned and it was super good. For dessert the star of the night was the triple berry creme brulee. It was decadent. Wr enjoyed it very much. Would we return? Absolutely. I would just order something else next time. I would pass on the steak.

My whole family had another wonderful dinner experience. It was packed, so it was a bit louder, but we didn't mind. We were distracted by all the food. The cheese curds were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. They even had a bit of a squeak. The haystacks were enjoyed even by my family who didn't like onions. The prize app were the pork bellies. Tender, meaty, and covered with a sweet tangy bourbon glaze. I could've eaten those as an entree! My filet was a perfect med-rare. Tender with just the right amount of char. The ribeye was prepared with the same tender perfection as well. My son, who lives in Chicago, said his steak rivaled those of the steakhouses in Windy City. He really enjoyed his filet. The scallops were seared to perfection, and they were nestled in a bed of soft, warm, creamy risotto. And I mean CREAMY. It's the way they should be made. HPSH doesn't skimp either on the number of scallops; we had to box up the rest. We didn't have room for dessert, but we did box some up for later.....and they tasted great. Can't wait til our next visit to High Point!

I would have preferred to show up earlier, as we had no choice to bring our 5 and 3 year old that we were vacationing with. All of the staff were extremely friendly. We ordered the Nueskes bacon appetizer: very giant pieces of bacon. While tasty, it was still a bit fatty and I think I honestly prefer regular bacon. We both ordered a 12 oz Filet mignon. I got the Bleu cheese crust and my husband got the Parmesan crust. It was quite a thick crust on top and definitely added to the experience. While it was quite good, I'm not sure I'd say it was the best steak I've ever had, and certainly didn't seem worth $80. The sides were ginormously portioned, even when we got the half side of mashed potatoes for "two" we didn't finish. While we planned on going out for free dinner with the kids afterward, the kids meal prices were not outrageous so we just ordered their meals at the same time. Both dinners came with fries and fruit, so seemed like a decent value. The cocktails were reasonably priced (around $15 each). I would have liked to try more items, but my husband probably would have lost his cool if we spent even more money. The ambiance is nice, but we spent the majority of the time trying to shush our children and not disturb other guests. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience, but not quite worth the price tag.
